My goodness. Sent $100 yesterday for food. Then she called today and said she needed $1500 pesos to go see her mom tomorrow (in a taxi about an hour or so away). I asked her why doesn't she use the $100 I sent. She said all of it was gone. Yet I never saw her spend $100 dollars in food in one setting before.

This girl is very sincere and honest but I think I have spoiled her. Time to run.

Showdown.Hey buddy,

Don't want to pile on here. But I want to give you a different look at it than some of my brother mongerers. I will assume that what you believe about her is true. She is a good girl that you have turned a bit bad by spoiling her and leading her down the path of the ungrateful consumption of your resources. The fact is none of us knows this girl so we can only really assume and could possibly be right that you have been being played from jump street. But the fact is you could also be right about her being virtuous and just caught up in your unfettered generosity. Both of these views, at this point IMHO, are irrelevant. This is why I post this statement: most people do things for some sort of purpose whether it 'd be nefarious or otherwise. When you started this relationship, and specifically the support part of it, you did it for a specific reason. Maybe it was love, the thought of having a sexy steady in the D.R. That is your "girl" and not like the putas that you have met in the past. You probably were expecting that, due to the fact that you essentially changed her lifestyle for the much better in a whirlwind, she would love you back and treat you with the reverence that is commensurate with your grand gesture. My question to you is has your purpose been realized. Has the reason that you began this endeavor been achieved. Are you getting what you want out of this. Hell is there even any compromise as is to be expected in any kind of healthy relationship? Only you can answer these questions and you need not reply to them in a response to my post but more importantly to yourself. You are clearly emotionally invested and in turn your thinking might be a bit biased, which is why I assume you opened yourself up to such scrutiny on this forum- to get unbiased opinions. But in the end you will have to make the decision, follow through on it and live with the consequences. I wish you all the best with whichever path you choose and hope that in the end you choose the one which truly serves you better. And to paraphrase many members on here including the great Mr. E she lived fine by the only standards she knew before you showed up and will do so again if you leave the scene so I think that your soul will be safe if your decision is to move away from this situation.

Just one black man's opinion.

uh-oh! forcing money? i just spent three nights with a 22 year old. i bought several restaurant meals as in the trip report, a few gifts valued at about 1500 pesos, a couple of beers, un helado and left her 2000+2000 pesos for the two times we met. she is studying pharmacy so we discussed alexander fleming and the week after she told me she was the only one who knew about it when the subject matter was discussed in class. the quality of sex was very different other than the fact that she was available whenever i was in the mood. she even gave me her backside but it did not pan out as it was painful for her. no comparison but there is always a flip side. they are looking for a long term deal. i do not know about others, but i am not into it neither do i want to lie so there is a potential fuck up that people looking for non-pros should be aware of.i agree with this. it was cary grant who was asked why he, a movie star who could have any women, preferred escorts, he said "i don't pay them to sleep with me, i pay them to go away afterwards."

you simply make it clear to them that you don't want the relationship to continue, but you give them some money so they don't feel that they were exploited or that it was all for nothing. that makes it win-win and both leave having gotten something out of it.

us older guys understand this, because if we get to spend a few nights having passionate sex with beautiful women less than half our age, the pleasure far outweighs any financial cost as it was already budgeted for.

too many younger guys (under 50) on this board suffer from the romantic delusion that these dominican women love them for themselves, and try to interact with them as if they are part of their dating peer group at home, only in another country. in reality, these women either want money, or they want travel opportunities, even if they don't say so initially. if you are just honest with them about what you want and about what they want, you can have a great time with no drama.

This girl is very sincere and honest but I think I have spoiled her. Time to run.

Showdown. The danger of spoiling them is great. While I have not issues sending money to my main girl, I have recently realized that I've spoiled her. So to correct that I've been taking some steps. When I'm gone on business, my main Novia takes care of my place (she's there all the time anyway). I have bought her all the amenities and DR girl would love. Tablet, Samsung, etc. I use the internet for work, however, the internet is a bit slow if there are too many devices on my network. I've explained that she needs to ask permission to use the internet while I'm working. She constantly forgets. She get's upset when I complain, the fix is change the password on my router. I have an account that she can use to pay the house bills when I'm gone. Recently I noticed she had some clothes that I did not buy her. She took some money from the account without permission. So the card is no longer in the house.

I am now in the states for business and will be back on Wednesday. Over the weekend, she wanted to go to a party for a mutual friend, she had no money as I left her very little (enough for food) she called me in that passive aggressive Domincan way:

Her: I want to go to the birthday party for Yudelka this Saturday.

Me: I said very good, wish her a happy birthday from me.

A little later she states: I can't go.

Me: Why?

Her: I don't have any money.

Me: OK, we'll visit her when I get back.

Conversation continues, we are talking about semana santa and the things we are going to do. Her nieces were supposed to come over this weekend.

Her: You know my nieces are coming for Semana Santa.

Me: I know that's fine.

Her: But they can't come now.

Me: But Why.

Her: I can't pay for their passage (about 300 to 400 pesos).

I have basically cut her off, because she abused the privileges I have afforded her. She will now have to ask me for any bit of money she wants or needs. She had free reign, she was the queen until she abused it. She will not complain directly and I will hold my ground for quite some time. If she disrespects me or complains about the situation she will be reminded that everything is mine, paid for with my money and it is because of my generosity that she and her family have some nice things. Or she can leave. The last time this something like this happened was about 4 years ago and I gave her the boot for about 4 months. During that time she constantly tried to get back in good with me, which she finally did.

I have a lot of time invested with the girl and she is willingly open to my perversions and I don't want to lose that. However, they need to be reminded who butters their bread.

What is your explanation for the women who have stayed for years and have seen no sign of neither money nor travel opportunities?I am talking about the Dominican women who are putting themselves on Internet dating sites, or seeking work in places where they are likely to have opportunities to interact with tourists.

Your question is akin to: "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"

However in any country women usually enter into sexual relationships out of a desire, conscious or unconscious, to profit in terms of affiliating themselves with a powerful man, bearing his children, becoming part of his family grouping, or even obtaining benefits for themselves such as housing subsidies for single parents. It is hardly ever for purely altruistic reasons.

It is true that relatively recently in human history, with the invention of the birth control pill in the 1960s and the widespread movement of women into higher education and the workforce in the developed economies that there is a subclass of women who are economically independent and thus able to avoid pregnancy and use men purely as sex objects for their pleasure. Women like Jennifer Aniston or Rihanna or Wendy Deng come to mind, perhaps, but the vast majority of women would still much rather not work and enjoy an affluent lifestyle courtesy of a man, usually the father of her children if possible.

Even your woman who asked for no money drove you away by repeatedly insisting that she was lonely, so you can't say she was without needs for affiliation, and if you formed a household with her and you wanted air conditioning to sleep at night, then she would get it too.

I am talking about the Dominican women who are putting themselves on Internet dating sites, or seeking work in places where they are likely to have opportunities to interact with tourists.Frannie it is 2014; join us here. People all over the world put themselves on internet dating sites to find people for a genuine traditional relationship. The Dominican Republic is no exception. In this day and time people no longer just date people in their same geographical, racial, political, social area. People no longer have to settle for someone they met at church or that a cousin introduced them to. You can't assume that Dominican women are out to scam or have ulterior motives just because they know how to use a computer or work in the tourist arena. Really? People who work with tourists are out for money from men too now? There are tourism majors at the university. You mean women are going through four years of school, doing all kinds of research and writing papers in order to work in an industry just so they can find a foreigner to get money from? You sound like my aunts who say someone is going to kill me because I met them through the internet or the people who are ashamed to tell their friends and family that they met someone through the internet.

Internet dating has become a staple in today's dating world and is no longer a novelty. The same way people seriously look for a job on the internet they can seriously look for friends or a mate. Are there bad apples? Of course. There are bad apples in everything. Just because a few banks gave out sub-prime mortgages knowing that people were going to default does not mean that every bank did it and that people should no longer trust in banks. It only means that a person needs to be more selective and not jump all over or have their heart set on the first thing they encounter. Then you have to look in the mirror as well. If you are only looking for hookers then hookers are all you will think you see. (Just like the guys who always stayed on the one corner of Copacabana in Rio where all the hookers hung out, so they assumed all women in Brazil were P4P. You are taking the same attitude with DR.)

I'm telling you from first hand experience that there are many Dominicans on internet dating sites who are looking for real relationships and not someone to financially support them. I can't remember who the guy was on the Santo Domingo thread that said he was trying to find women on the website before his trip, but all the women he kept bringing up sex for money to told him to fuck off because they were not like that, so he considered it a waste of time because all the women he contacted wanted something serious. It makes me question if you have even tried find a Dominican woman through internet dating or are just basing your statements on what someone else told you or on your assumptions.

I asked her if she had ever heard of the golden rule. She said no what is that. I said the person who has the gold makes the rules. You don't have any money and the last time I remember a person without money trying to make rules for a person with money was never. So stay in your lane and we will do things how I say or not do them at all. She finally got a clue.

I think it is entirely natural and the end product of millions of years of evolution.

Yes, women who do four year degrees in tourism and learn foreign languages know very well that this may enable them to, for example, join multinational corporations and travel overseas and extend the range of possible partners they might meet.

However the women I was thinking of were more those who work as office staff, waitresses, cooks, and chambermaids in the many hotels in the DR as a way of escaping the dreariness of life in flyover DR and possibly meeting a man who can offer more.

There are obviously gradations in those women you meet online. Some are willing to do sex for money and others are not, due to family and social pressures and so on, but there are very few who would categorically turn down the opportunity to get to the US on a fiancee visa.

On the one hand you are writing here on a forum that is mainly concerned with prostitution and complaining that so many Dominican women are looking for money, and on the other hand you are stating that most of the women online have no interest in personal gain from relationships. Make up your mind.

You are also saying that you tell them your name is Senor Tacano, so it seems likely that it is you just as much as them who tends to see relationships in terms of profit and loss.

No I don't think that women looking for material gain from relationships with men is scamming. I think it is entirely natural and the end product of millions of years of evolution. That is absolutely right!

In the three years of my DR experience, I met one woman, not surprisingly at PUCMM, pursuing a law degree and very close to completion, seriously smart and able to hold a conversation in English that included Latina / Greek. She was one woman who spoke to me about having children and was looking for a better life in the US. It just so happens that I was not / am not interested in any of those and so a year and half into it, (and I have never met her for she declined to meet me on my visits to Santiago. She also never asked for anything) she just plain disappeared. Hopefully she met someone who was more generous than I was and I sure wish her the best. Interestingly I will always remember her.

Where do I start with my response.

This is going to be a long one.

I. On the surface.

On the surface I think I made a mistake discussing what is a genuine relationship (and it is) on a P4P forum. The relationship, though some of you insist otherwise, is not one where I have found a dedicated prostitute and taken her off the streets as I did with the Boca Chica chick a while back.

Second it seems some of your responses-especially-Wrx-2005-have an angry hateful tone to them. These types of responses seem to have, as background, an undertone of resentment toward women themselves. Perhaps a women burned you. I am not sure. Some folks like Mr. E. Are dedicated professionals when dealing with pros. But responses like Mr E are met to educate and not to belittle or be hateful.

With that said this will be my only response to this topic which has generated a huge response. And why has it generated a huge response? Because many of you have been in the same spot-or still are. You just don't want to admit it.

II. The facts of a relationship in the Western World.

Men in the western world are hardwired almost from birth to be the knight in shining armor. To rescue the damsel in distress. To be the hero. This is a fact and just because you go to a 3rd world country does not mean you can turn that off. Sure it is easy for some of you who are hardcore to bend a girl over, throw a $20 at her feet and walk away. She is a prostitute you say. She is nothing. You subscribe to the Charlie Sheen P4P ethic. But the problem is for most guys-and most guys who read this forum-its not that easy. Its easy to throw the $20 and walk away you say? Why do you think CubaDave, who was mentioned in another post, has to create a video telling guys how to not get in this situation and if you are in this situation how to get out of it? Because so many men do! We are hardwired and whether it is P4P or not some guys do not find it easy to climb on top of a girl, throw a $20 at her and walk away. Now I can see the most aggressive responders to my post saying"oh you and guys like you are just weak and the rest of us are strong like Mr. E or Wrk-2005 (no offense).

But lets be honest. It is the same 10 guys or so on this board who respond and post almost everything in the DR form. But that's less than 1% of the guys who read this forum. The other 99. 9% just read and do not respond or post. Those are the guys who are most interested in a post like mine because we, like most men in the west, are hardwired-whether it is P4P or not.

III. Girlfriends in the West.

Every guy on this board has, in his life, taken a girl out several times, costing God knows how much, just to HOPEFULLY get in a girls pants. Its the age old argument-in the end you are paying this girl / plying this girl with gifts and attention and money for sex. Its rarely about marriage or commitment and that usually happens because the girl pressures the guy into it or she gets pregnant. Its the truth. So an American girl from LA who has a large chest and big booty who fleeces you for everything you have (which is the bulk of USA women nowadays otherwise why are we getting together with women in the DR?) is different than a girl with a large chest and big booty that is from Santo Domingo? There is no difference. Just because you are dating a girl in LA does not mean she does not have another guy in Sacramento and San Diego that she sleeping with as well (just like many Dr girls do). And whats worse is you have NO CONTROL NO RECOURSE with these girls. Atleast in the DR, as one poster mentioned, you can control the purse strings. In the West you don't control anything. So a girl in the DR lies about another boyfriend or she is spending money she shouldn't? She is doing the same thing that chick from Boston and Chicago is doing. Why are so many of you so hateful and spiteful toward Dominican women? Just read your responses. Its the truth.

IV. A Prostitute.

Lets take an ordinary prostitute in the USA. Very very few go with or even can afford a "high class" prostitute. You prowl the streets and Asian massage parlors. So what types of women are in these places? On the street 9 out of 10 times she is on drugs. Cracked out, thin from drug abuse and haggard. Ugly. In the massage parlors you find 40+ year old Asian women who aren't worth the tip you give them. Now lets talk about a prostitute in the DR. Most are young, pretty and most of the time desperate not for that hit of meth or crack but to eat. To put clothes on their children backs. Sure you have your hardened pros but most of them are not. This prostitute is totally different than the prostitute you come across in the USA. And most of the time these DR girls are genuinely in need. Some of you may say"its not my problem". You throw the $20 at them and leave. But remember. Many of us are hardwired. The majority of us are hardwired to be the hero. And we play that out. We help them beyond the $20 we throw at them on the floor. That is what I did with the Boca Chica chick a while back. I learned from that. And furthermore the Boca Chica chick was a hardened pro. Most of these girls you meet in the DR for P4P are not hardened. Every girl I have hooked up with at GBP has been a young girl trying to do what-feed children. What are USA prostitutes trying to feed-their drug habit. If most USA prostitutes were trying to feed their children you would probably help them also.

V. A girlfriend / wife.

Whats the difference between a gf in the DR and a gf in the USA? In the beginning everything. In the end nothing. What is the divorce rate in the United States? 50+ percent. And what do men find out in the end? That women who they married is no different than a Dominican women, who, in the beginning, you know what her objectives are. That so called prom queen you married in the USA tries to take everything you have in a divorce, make you pay exorbitant child support and lies about everything in order to destroy you. I have never been married but I have seen this happen time and time again to friends. The Dominican gf lets you know the deal up front-I need a better place to live, cable, phone etc. I would argue the Dominican gf / wife is LESS deceptive than an American one. Because you know what the deal is from day 1 and with a whole lot less fuss than marrying that USA beauty queen who in the end is no different than that women you wifed up and knocked up in the USA.

VI. My girl.

In the end, with clear eyes and mind, I know my girl and what she is about. I learned mounds from the chick in Boca Chica-who I spent A LOT of money on. The girl I am with now I have spent nowhere near what I spent on the hardened pro I learned from. Yes my girl will test the limits. They all do. As a poster mentioned he had to take the bank card from his girl because she was irresponsible. Then she straightened up. My girl, who wanted the $1500 pesos to see her mom, did not get it from me. So then two days later she says she and her mom had an argument and she was not going to see her anyway. What did I learn? She will test the waters. But that does not make her or anyone else with a Dominican girlfriend (and BTW-because I met her on Tagged does not make her a prostitute; if that is your argument then half the women you met on OK Cupid and other USA dating sites are no better because they are after a sugar daddy as well) a dumb man who is taking care of a lifeless and lying Dominican women. All women in the end are the same. It just depends on how bad of a person they are.

VII.

In closing I have a gf. I like her. She has not made any waves. She has done alot less in the bad column than most women I have ever known in the US, Thailand and other places. I know she will test the waters and I am prepared for that. I pay the measly 6k pesos for her house because she is a nice girl and I care for her. And I think, in her own limited way, she cares for me as well. Have I spoiled her? Yes. But who has never spoiled the women they care for? I do not treat her like I would a P4P. I learned from the Boca Chica girl. I have as a result applied the following rules to PFP girls:

1. No phone number exchange.

2. No visiting their homes.

3. No repeats.

These four rules have kept me from making my previous mistakes.

In the future, as I stated in the beginning, I will use this board to discuss P4P only and not a relationship. I have come to realize that many of you are quite hardened when it comes to this game and more than likely will not have a gf or any other serious relationship. Your angry / hateful / spiteful responses (and within that the obvious attitude you have towards Dominican women) speaks volumes.

On the one hand you are writing here on a forum that is mainly concerned with prostitution and complaining that so many Dominican women are looking for money, and on the other hand you are stating that most of the women online have no interest in personal gain from relationships. Make up your mind.No complaint from me, because I know that I have choices and I know how to say NO! Everyone enters any type of relationship for personal gain. Financial gain is another matter. I show up at work for financial gain, for if they told me that they would no longer pay me, then I would no longer show up. I choose to mentor and tutor at my local high school for personal gain - in the form that I feel warm and fuzzy knowing that I am making a difference in some young peoples' lives and setting them on the right path. If you are in any type of relationship (not only talking about male-female, romance-based) where you are not getting anything from it (gain) then it is time to exit the relationship because you are just wasting time.

You are also saying that you tell them your name is Senor Tacano, so it seems likely that it is you just as much as them who tends to see relationships in terms of profit and loss.I said that I say this to hookers. Women who the basis for the 10-minute relationship IS cash for sex, not non-P4P women. In other words, I'm not giving a hooker more than is absolutely necessary to get her into a horizontal position. The only tip she is getting is the "TIP of this diiiiccckk!"

I have met so many DR women who don't ask for a thing and who would not accept money or a man paying their bills. Believe it or not, there are some Dominican women who do have pride. Knowing these type of women, my mindset is why would I choose one who does constantly ask for this, that, and the other as a person I would want a relationship with?

We all have our "thing" as well. If your "thing" is to feel needed by taking a chick and setting her and her family up nice and that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside then do that. I would ask though, why not find a woman who isn't as needy and doesn't constantly beg for more and constantly test the waters to treat in this manner? You know, someone that really appreciates the shit and doesn't take it for granted.

As used to be the saying around Rio,"If you really want to know how they feel and how much they care about you, then show up without money." I have done that many times with women in the DR and have been treated the same as I would be had I been spending money. So I don't have a doubt as to their genuineness. Paraphrasing what a famous Black American singer once told me about his girlfriend: I know she is not with me for the money because I don't give her any.

Where do I start with my response.Very heartfelt! I am somewhat surprised that Enternational endorses for it appears to me he is contradicting himself. Not that I am on a mission to change anybody. Indeed it is good for him, if he can always draw the upper class DR women not needing anything but his love in exchange. I am not young / good looking, smart or famous enough to draw the young women in the US / EU that I can mingle with in the DR. So I have no illusion and money is a tool, and if it helps someone. Especially women with children or one plodding through a hard life, I am all for it, whether girl friend, an occasional tryst or something in between.

Yes, there is no doubt that there are misogynists on this board. BTW, I also do not want to downplay the American women. To me, women everywhere deserve respect and an individual experience does not detract from that point of view for after all, it takes two to tango, in good and in bad.

Finally, I would again salute you for your guts to open yourself up on this p4P forum to speak of matters of the heart.

I don't think I have met a single Dominicana that knows how to swim. On top of that you have the deal with them not wanting to get their extensions wet. I've coaxed my share of them into the water but only a few past their waist.Hahaha! Indeed I had to coax these two but they and the others that I went to water with. None had hair extensions so did not run into that so far. However, it is kind of counter intuitive for me, to go to the beach if you cannot get in the water. Besides, at least in one instance, it was fun trying to enter the woman inside water with her bikini bottom off. Fortunately the water was calm but she was scared nonetheless and you cannot quite do it when the water level is low.

This is probably got overlooked by lots of folks here, but Frannie just described the very essence of mongering (or rather, mongering is an attractive option for most of us).

Television, movies, romance novels, gossip rags, have all convinced females (even the ugly ones) that they deserve nothing less than a Channing Tatum or a Tyson Beckford; and these are the types that females (even the ugly ones) all are after. Being able to delay pregnancy (nothing wrong with that) allows them to be able to do so.

So where does that leave the rest of us?

I am a young professional and consider myself a good looking guy (who doesn't?). When I put up a dating profile on American dating sites my box gets flooded with messages from obese women. The "working professional" females (even the ugly ones) I send messages to do not respond to me. Some do, but it is usually the ones with two or three kids and maybe once or twice divorced.

When I put up a dating profile on Dominican Cupid, my inbox is flooded with messages from ATTRACTIVE chicas. So much so that I am getting bombarded while logged into the site, and usually am not even able to respond to all the messages and "interest" I get in one session. When I message VERY ATTRACTIVE chicas (punching 2 to 3 times above my weight) I get responses and phone numbers of said chicas 95% of the time.

Basically both scenarios really boil down to this:

You graduate college, have a successful entry level career, want to date an attractive American female on the same level.

The American female graduates college, has a successful entry level career, wants to date an attractive male on her same level OR a very successful or wealthy average to attractive male.

She doesn't need an average guy for support; she's got her own money and maybe no children to feed.

"Average successful" guy can't even get the attention of the "hood rats" because:

1) you are already taking care of her via government subsidies (food stamps, wic, Obamacare, EITC; the maximum EITC for a single person with three or more qualifying children is freakin $6,044!).

2) you are not "hood rich" like the local drug dealer or hustler/scammer; and therefore not a "real man"

3) you are smart (educated) enough not to even get involved with a hood rat to begin with.

Thankfully, your success is welcomed by the women in poorer countries like the DR and such; women who still value the role of the male being the provider for the family, and her in the traditional female role as the caretaker of the household.

But you'd better believe if the DR had a welfare system the size and scope of the US welfare system, you, I, and most of the male Dominicans would be assed-out, LOL!

Reminds me of a broke chick I met recently in Santo Domingo who thought she was going to be the one to say how things were going to go down. I asked her if she had ever heard of the golden rule. She said no what is that. I said the person who has the gold makes the rules. You don't have any money and the last time I remember a person without money trying to make rules for a person with money was never. So stay in your lane and we will do things how I say or not do them at all. She finally got a clue.I just got off of whatsapp with her. She wants her nieces to come over for semana santa and just asked if 2k pesos is too much to with round trip bus fare for 2 and to buy them some clothes. She asked permission from beginning to end. She needs to continue with this behavior and all will be good.

Then there are other chicks who I was supposed to meet that chickened out. Here is what one said who was ashamed that she didn't have any money to get back and forth. Instead of begging for money like some chicks without home training do, she just stopped communicating while I was there: Hola * te pido disculpas se me complico todo why no pude atender te como mereces why si me dio un poco de miedo. I took these photos on my iPhone. They are of my inbox when I receive alerts from Latin American Cupid. I did not capture any name twice. This is in one day / one log in session. I am only able to post 5 photos at a time on ISG, but I'm just posting them to show the contrast I was talking about. If I have time tomorrow I will post the results I have from American dating sites like OK Cupid or Plenty of Fish (POF). I have a paid account on POF, so I can see if a message I have sent has been read. Something as simple as "Hello, how are you this evening" that I send to a female; I check my "sent" folder and see to see if she has read it. Sometimes it says "read, deleted", or even "unread, deleted", LOL. I bullshit you not.

I'm thinking of working remote for a month in Sosua. Did some research, and it looks like I can find monthly rentals on flipkey.com and similar sites in the $1000-$1300 range with kitchens that look really nice. I figure I can get Claro for reliable internet and phone, bring low power devices with lots of battery life, and maybe some portable solar panels and a backup battery to keep things charged up if / when the power goes down.

So I guess I am just looking for a sanity check. I need to be online and on the phone 40 hours/week during Eastern time business hours. Is working remote from Sosua feasible? Because I really like the idea of signing off every day at five to enjoy this shared hobby of ours ;)

Of course, if anyone has suggestions in Sosua for condos or GF hotels Sosua that worked out well for work / play let me know.

I can't recommend specific place, too much depends on personal preferences.

I've done it for shorter period of time myself.

Could be hard to concentrate on work with all these chicas around LOL.

Internet reliability could be a problem anywhere in DR, you may want to consider having 3 different providers.

Of course, if anyone has suggestions in Sosua for condos or GF hotels Sosua that worked out well for work / play let me know. There is a young guy currently posting a daily journal on another board who is living full-time (though not permanently) in Sosua and supporting himself by working online. He has just rented an apartment for 15. 000 pesos (about US$350) for a month. For double that, you could rent a palace. With your budget, accommodation is not a problem, but reliable internet connection will be. He only puts in a few hours each day when it suits him and when the connection is good. I don't know what he does, maybe day trading on something like that, without fixed hours.

If those 40 hours are fixed hours (you have to be available, say, from 9 to 5) then I think you could have real problems. If you just need to put in about 40 hours work a week as and when you have a decent connection then that would be doable.

If you want to pursue this idea, make enquiries as to where you can get the best internet connection and with which company (ies). Then find accommodation near that point as that is a lesser issue. Would you consider living outside Sosua? Puerto Plata has some better areas for internet connection, for example, and many would say a nicer class of chica.

May be in some cases they know that next time you'll show up with money? Some play a long game, I've seen it before.

In the future, as I stated in the beginning, I will use this board to discuss P4P only and not a relationship. Yes, I know I could go cheaper, but if I'm going to be in one place for a month I want to live well. Not looking to overspend though. Will focus on the $700-$1000 price range based on collective advice for a modest palace, consider the moat optional :)

Com may have the answer to your question. It is more of a forum for people who live there and folks looking for info on living there. Not so much a mongering forum. Look for the "North Coast" forum and try posting the same question.

Tempoecorto, you have to know someone personally who will be travelling soon and use him or her as a shuttle. Buy goods online and send them to the person's address. Unless it is electronics or other items which are expensive in DR or hard to get just wire her cash.

Ah, Thanks Charles! The baby belongs to the mother and her (apparently estranged. But not a foreigner LOL) husband. I just happen to know her. I admit, even carnally but cannot claim any contribution.

On the second part, forget English. It would be enough if the islanders could write Spanish correctly. Half the time as you often affirmed correctly, they cannot spell in their own language correctly (not that it is only a Dominican phenom as we know).

So any info on how I could buy something from a local store there and either have it sent or have them collect it? Any other local residents on this forum? The recipient opens an account at BM Cargo in Puerto Plata. It is free to open an account with cedula and they will give her an address and account number in Miami. You then program that address into your Amazon account as an alternative address and send the gift there. From Miami it is placed on AA flight 979 to Puerto Plata and she collects it at the office in Puerto Plata when she receives the e-mail notification-or even without if she knows it is coming.

Freight is paid on receipt at Puerto Plata. The heavier the item the more the cost, so something like a ring or item of jewelry or phone is almost free or only a few pesos, and something like a table will be very expensive indeed.

What's "migrant-smuggling"? Or just an anti-Haitian push under the guise of "[CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908)"?

Justice Ministry says it rescued 309 women from brothels.

Santo Domingo- The Justice Ministry's Anti-migrant Smuggling and Person Trafficking Dept. (PECTIMTP) on Thursday announced the rescue of 309 women victims in its first year, during widespread raids in the National District and the interior.

In a report PECTIMTP director Jonathan Bar said 82 customers (johns) , including several foreigners have been detained since February 2013, just in the National District.

He said 13 nightclubs have been shuttered in several towns for trafficking with persons and pandering.

Authorities said of the 103 cases prosecuted. 57 were for migrants smuggling, followed in by 19 for [CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908). 14 for pandering. 11 for procuring prostitution and two for sex tourism and pornography, whose victims were adults and minors.

He said children were trafficked to beg, for sexual activities, child labor and drug pushing. They were also victims of **** and child pornography, as well as torture.

The report adds taht among the businesses shuttered figure Discoteca El Toro, ; Bar La Ruta 47, the brothel Dos Corazones and Plaza Nicole, in Sosa, as well as Bar Pasiand, D'Anny Billar, Hotel Venecia, Club 305, Sky High, The Girls House and Night Club Cristal at Loma del Chivo, Santo Domingo

Any opinions on what the nicest beach in DR is? How do I define nice? Soft sand, clean beach (ie no trashing lying around, minimal shells that cut your fee etc) , clean water (surprised to find many think the ocean water in Sosua is clean) and nice waves.

ShowdownMy friends and I were in Las Terranas last year June and posted my observations. It was quite and had a beautiful view of the beach. I would not go there for P4P because we saw 0. We arrived there about 4 in the afternoon, looked around, and got the hell out of Dodge. Its a great place to bring a special chica and chill with however, that was a wrap on the scene. We didn't even see 1 chica worth stopping forand we were prepared to spend the night. I was told things pick up after 11pm and chicas come out the woodworks. How and from were is beyond me.

ShowdownWhen me and a amigo went there in April we picked up 2 chicas that were working near the ocean street at 3 in the afternoon but I have to say this was the worst chicas we picked up on the whole island. The first thing these chicas wanted to do is for us to take them to eat drink and smoke. To make a long story short we ended up getting in a little pissing match over them not wanting to service us first. We paid them half of what we had agreed upon and left there ass.

Spent a weekend there a few years ago. Lots of European expat influence.

Hello all,

Still in the process of researching DR / Sosua / PP but here's the scoop.

I need to get away somewhere for about 5 days.

Looking for place with abundant supply of friendly chicas.

Need reliable internet.

Possibility of wife being with me, so if that happens I was thinking I'll do AI at PP.

I can disappear for most of the day without issue. If wifey with me then evening nights will be with her.

Any thoughts?

Is Sosua the best option for what I need?

Is it realistic to do let the AI occupy wifeys time during the day?

Thanks in advance for the help.

It is way more expensive than the other hotels in the area. Is it Chica friendly? It is not AI.It is inside Playa Dorada. You could probably take in one chica so long as you didn't change. To a real monger this place would be like a well-appointed prison cell. Boring as hell unless you take expensive taxis to escape each day or rent a car. Your other option would be to walk across to Field of Dreams, but if you are going to do that you might as well rent the luxury suite at Field of Dreams. Cheaper and a lot more fun.

BlackBeard's would be first choice except for wife; the scene at BB is pretty obvious.

For your situation, Playa Dorada is probably best. You can easily get away to Field of Dreams across the road. Cabbies all know it.

In Spanish, you can just ask for "Campo de Suenos" and its 5 minutes away.

I recommend you look up Hotel Barcelo. Its a good value all-inclusive hotel, with access to the beach, shows at night, etc.

I've had no complaints when I've stayed there, other than a very inefficient check-in desk.

Internet available, so bring a laptop.

Wifey can get a massage, check out other activities offered, etc.

Most people like Iberostar, but it is not so conveniently situated for mongers. You will need transport to get anywhere. Easy to catch public transport into Puerto Plata town, but not so easy going the other direction to Field of Dreams or Sosua.

But from a Playa Dorada hotel you can safely walk through the golf course to Field of Dreams and back.

All the above only applies if you are bringing your wife. If you will be solo and here for mongering you would be silly to stay in an AI.

You certainly have great local knowledge of the hotels. Thank you so much for your help. Is Casa Coloial and Spa Chica friendly? In MY experience at the Barcelo, its not possible to bring in a different chica everyday / night. Guests get wristbands and outside guests aren't allowed.

The AI s are best for bringing a 'date" or novia for a few days. She checks in, provides an I'd / passport to register, gets a wristband, etc.

I've done this with my novia several times, with no problem. Nice part is the base price is for double occupancy, so an extra person costs you nothing.

Consider "auditioning" chicas for a prize of several (paid) days at an AI with you. Most will jump at the chance.

If you want to "monger" you'd have to use Playa Dorada as a base, and visit either FOD or BB for "conjugal visits.".

I have no personal experience with Casa Colonial and Spa, but without looking, I doubt they can match prices / services with the Barcelo.

If we stay at Iberostar I was thinking about just renting a car and driving back and forth daily to Sosua.

Would that be a realistic possibility?Very realistic. There is a long-running debate on here about the wisdom of renting a car in the DR, especially if one is not used to the country. If you stayed at Playa Dorada rather than Iberostar you could catch a publico to Sosua for 45 pesos (or 100 for two seats for more comfort). Also have the option of walking to Field of Dreams. Although selection is limited there you will find enough to keep you amused for five days.

Also Iberostar is a stand-alone hotel. Hotels within Playa Dorada are within a complex of several hotels with a shopping mall, surgery, two banks and othe services. More stuff to keep your wife entertained and more people for her to meet if that is her thing.

I was actually preferring some distance between me and wifey with that regard.Once you are off the hotel complex there is no chance of her knowing where you are unless you blab to a mutual acquaintance. No need to go as far as Sosua just for that reason.

If you stayed at Playa Dorada rather than Iberostar you could catch a publico to Sosua for 45 pesos (or 100 for two seats for more comfort). This was a bit misleading so let me explain in more detail.

The publicos (shared taxis running along fixed routes) run every three minutes or so (in the daytime) from the Hospital in Puerto Plata to their "parada" in Sosua opposite ther Texaco station. From there everywhere in Sosua is walking distance. The cost is 45 pesos (about US $1) each way and the distance is about 15 miles. If you board at the terminus at either end you have the option of buying two seats for more comfort, as they squeeze two into a bucket seat up front meant for one, and four into the bench seat at back meant for three.

I have heard stories of pickpockets on the publicos so sort your fare out in advance so you don't need to reach into an inside pocket where you keep your main stash. But I have been using them a lot (maybe 1000 rides since I have been here) and never had a problem. Indeed I have twice had drivers call me back to say I had dropped, first time money and then my keys.

The point I was making is this: they always wait at the Hospital until full before leaving. By the time they get to Iberostar (two miles out of the city centre) not many people want to alight so most will whizz past the front gate without stopping. You could get lucky straight away or might have to wait for thirty minutes. No big deal if there is shelter from sun or rain. But more people tend to get out at Playa Dorada (three miles from the city) as it is a much bigger complex, so if boarding at Playa Dorada you would probably not have to wait long. Might still have to put up with being squashed in single seat though, until someone gets out later. If you are a big guy do you will definitely need two seats.

Coming back no problem, as you can board an empty publico at the Sosua terminus and buy two seats.

Going towards Puerto Plata city from either hotel will not be a problem as most publicos have shed passengers by then and you would not have to wait long for one with an empty seat or two.

Unless you are a complete pansy or think your shit doesn't stink (and we have a few of those on here) you will enjoy riding the publicos and seeing a bit of local life. And paying 100 pesos to get to Sosua sure beats paying 1000 pesos for a private cab.

However, I believe you are only staying five days? And you are only let off the chain in the daytime? I still think you would be better off staying in Playa Dorada and walking to Field of Dreams. Maybe spend one day in Sosua at the beach. You could even take your wife to give her a change of scenery. But for sex there is not too much going on in the daytime, there is much risk of a newbie being scammed, and you have the hassle of finding a room to do the deed.

Other issue I don't think you have mentioned. How is your Spanish? If non-existent, another reason to keep it simple and leave the more adventurous stuff to a later trip when you have learned a bit and hopefully alone.

Bottom line is you are trying to combine a marital vacation with a mongering trip. You cannot get the best of both worlds. You are going to have to compromise somewhere, whether quality of hotel, or paying through the nose for taxis everywhere, or reduced selection of chicas, etc.

Basically looking at VH Gran Ventana, which seems to be an OK resort, but I like the fact it's part of the playa dorada complex.

Other option might be Be Live Grand Marien, which looks like it's right in PP, so should give wifey lots to do.

Third option is still Barcelo which was recommended here, but Gran Ventana seems to get better reviews.

If you check in with a girl, she gets her plastic bracelet, and is with you your entire stay, no problem.

Its fine for several days with a girlfriend / novia or a selected chica.

What would people recommend as the best area anywhere in DR to hunt for non-pros?Worst areas would be Sosua and Boca Chica.

If you want to get into a non-pro's knickers on a short trip you will need some of these assets:

Young (within 10 years of her age).

Good looking.

Smart dresser.

Good dancer of merengue, bachata and / or salsa.

Big spender

Decent rental car.

Most important of all - reasonably fluent Spanish.

You will strike out 70% of the time but even if you are lucky, you will probably end up spending three times as much as you would with a pro or semi-pro.

After my initial years here I have avoided both full-time pros and non-pros and concentrated on semi-pros. By "semi-pros" I mean women for whom prostitution is not their only or main means of supporting themselves, but will be happy to take straight cash if picked up. They don't leave home with the intention (and in many cases the desperate need) of finding a client or three to pay the bills, support a habit or a chulo, but they will be alert to the opportunity of doing so and are not embarrassed to accept money afterwards.

Most ex-pats go for these types, but they are hard to identify when someone is here on a short trip and almost impossible without some Spanish (or French for haitianas).

Sosua is the worst place to find non-pros or semi-pros. It is a small town where there is no privacy. Non-pros wouldn't want to be seen as a prostitute by family or workmates, and semi-pros can be intimidated by the regular pros.

Puerto Plata is a good size for semi-pros. Big enough to have thousands of girls and two universities (the most promising hunting-ground) and for a girl to avoid neighbours and family if she hangs in a different part of the city. And with a Dominican cafe / dance-hall nightlife which is totally absent in Sosua where locales are dominated by prostitutes and gringos.

90% of the time when guys post they have been with a non-pro they are bullshitting or have been bullshitted. Exceptions would be women over 30 (that is approaching middle-aged here) or in remote country areas where they might have led some naive girl up the garden path with promises. But nowadays with TV and cellphones, even chicas in remote areas usually know the score.

But my Spanish is next to nothing, and the general picture that list paints is def not me.

I think at this stage I'm just going for it, and pop my newbie DR cherry.

Trip is booked, so now time to start focusing on details of the actual trip rather than hypothetical goals.

I should rephrase though, that it seems I'm looking more for a semi-pro than a pro.

Your info has been immensely valuable, hope you don't mind the upcoming details oriented questions!

Oh, also.after looking at some more of the sexy pics of the girls in Sosua, maybe I'll be ok with a few days of pros!

What is somewhat disturbing is the reports of girls being nonchalant / bored / un-enthusiastic. That is definitely going to be a big turnoff for me.

We cannot advise more unless we know:

(1) Whether you will be a solo monger who is free 24/7, or with your wife and only free for a few hours in the daytime. They would be two totally different trips needing different strategies.

(2) Where you will be staying if already booked. If not already booked, and not with your wife, do NOT book into an AI. It will totally cramp your style, you will waste time and money on transport and booking short-time rooms, and you will miss out on socialising with other mongers from whom you can learn a lot and who will help you avoid pitfalls.

Read the reports here and see how many guys stay in AIs. Less than 1 in a 100, I would guess.

Once you know where you are staying, Sosua or Puerto Plata, transfer these posts to the appropriate thread because it will not be "General Information".

WOW. Very good info Charles, thanks again.

So yes, decided will take wifey, stay at an AI, and get a feel for the general lay of the land.

The way Iberostar is situated, and as you described I think we will pass.

Was really hoping for Casa Colonial but just realized it's not AI.

Any further thoughts?Sorry, I missed this post of yours.

Be Live Gran Marien is in Costa Dorada next to Iberostar. I lied when I said Iberostar was the only hotel there.

I know nothing about hotels. In eight years in the DR I have only slept two nights in hotels. Always in apartments, private houses, brothels, cabanas, bus stations or ditches.

A few guys here know some hotels, but you are better off looking on travel sites where you get more, and more up-to-date, opinions.

Generally hotels on the North Coast will be inferior to most other places you have been except for those at Punta Cana which are newer. Tourist trade on the North Coast is badly run-down so they don't invest. How on earth did you con your wife into coming to the North Coast and not there?

(For some reason this board only allows a short window of time to edit a post. Most other boards you can edit for 24 hours or longer). What I meant was:

Generally hotels on the North Coast will be inferior to most other places you have been at the same price. The tourist trade on the North Coast is badly run-down, so they don't renovate the hotels.

Hotels at Punta Cana on the East Coast are newer (but it is not a great area for mongering). How on earth did you con your wife into coming to the North Coast and not Punta Cana?

Most of your options seemed to be in vicinity of Playa Dorada / Costa Dorada.

Field of Dreams / FOD will likely be your best choice.

Unless you plan on keeping your wife drugged for most of the day, I suggest that you don't have the time to waste looking / socializing / seducing a semi-pro.

Sosua is a "buyer beware" environment where you can have a good experience or bad, depending on the girl you chose.

Especially as you are inexperienced in the DR, and with your wife along, you could find yourself in a bad situation more easily in Sosua.

For a newbie with no / few Spanish skills, I strongly recommend FOD, as you have a controlled atmosphere.

No one will pick your pocket, or demand a higher price once in the room, etc. No druggies, and less chance of disease.

You will spend less time / money on taxis to Sosua.

FOD is just down / across the road from the resorts and the cabbies know it.

The girls are friendly and you could consider keeping a room there for a day or two at a time, for several visits.

We're staying in Playa Dorada.

Yes, probably won't have time / energy to spend on a semi-pro. Really just looking for more GFE which I figure will be harder to find with hardcore pro.

I'll try out FOD, but if it's anything like the brothels in SXM, I probably won't be ecstatic, maybe just content.

I really need a few hours with wifi just to do some work is it going to look odd if I'm working on a laptop in FOD or at a bar in Sosua?

LOL, I don't llike seafood by the way!

I do not like brothels so FOD and BB do very little for me. I like GFE when I can get it. Sosua gets a broad spectrum of females. From hardcore to fresh off the bus, If you let the girl know what you want they will go with it. If you take your time and look for a girl who wants hang with you. This is a win win scenario and not hard to pull off.

LOL, I don't llike seafood by the way!I agree about "hardcore" types, but you really won't find many like that at FOD or BB. Those types would soon be looking for a new place to work. Most of the girls at FOD or BB are really very sweet, just take a little time to try to get to know their personalities, etc. (By going to FOD or BB, you'll have more time to do so).

This is Monger 101 stuff, but in general, if you treat the chica like your girlfriend, you will get the GFE.

Treat her badly, disrespectfully, and it will affect her attitude towards you as well.

On the laptop, not unusual at all to see people using wi-fi. Its available at most hotels in Playa Dorada, at FOD (or use their laptops). Not familiar which bars have them in Sosua.

I agree. The chicas at BB and FOD are not really like the escorts at Toronto or Chicago. Some are as sweets as an apple pie. It is kind of culture shock for me.

Also, I am shocked that many chicas (50%) are using their real names. It is kind of the biggest culture shock for me at BB and FOD. I doubt any hardcore working girl in Toronto or Chicago is using her real name.

Many of them do not hide that they are working for BB or FOD from their families and friends. This is really a cultural puzzle for me. I have my favourite girls at BB and FOD on my facebook. If their families and friends are not idiots, they can easily find out they are working girls. How can these chicas and their children live in such social stigma? I know it is DR. It is a different culture. But I doubt that any culture accepts sex work as real work.

You will get the GFE if you treat the chica like the girl friend. It is absolutely true. Few girls at BB can speak good English, and are intelligent enough to have a conversation during the dinner. It is really one of the best GFE that money can buy. I am a married man with three kids. So my fantasy of having an affair is kind of strangely fulfilled at BB.

However, if you know them too well, they will ask you to send money by western union whenever they talk to you in facebook and whatsapp. The bottom line is quite simple. They are working girls, and they need money from men. I do not think it is scam. It is just their job, and just part of the game. Respect and treat the chicas well. But do not fall for the fantasy and becomes a Western union sugar dad.

Most are either really "sweet" or can simulate "sweet" for as long as you are paying them, which is good enough. That is why I kept plugging the idea of your using Field of Dreams on a short, newbie trip without Spanish. You don't have time to learn the ropes this trip. You want guaranteed sex in a safe environment. It is so convenient if you are staying in Playa Dorada. You pay nothing for transport and waste none of your time on travelling, just a pleasant 15/20 minute safe stroll through the golf course. And if you want to persist in your fantasy of fucking three chicas each day you only have to book one short-time room for (I believe) 800 pesos, not each time as you would in a cabana. You or your chicas might want to tip the maid to change the sheets and towels each time though. If you pay in advance for four days, you might even negotiate a better price.

I accept Field of Dreams would not be most guys' first choice to stay in or to find short-time girls, but in your situation it is ideal. In fact, that was the very reason it was built, for guys in Playa Dorada to slip away from their wives.

You could spend one afternoon in Sosua just for a change of scenery. Take the wife.

Not familiar which bars have them in Sosua.Yes, I called Field of Dreams a brothel but it is more like a cross between a brothel and a motel. For most of its history no working girls were allowed to hang on the premises apart from the masseuse. While most of its clientele were mongers or part-time mongers (for example, guys on golfing or scuba-diving holidays), there were also Dominican commercial travellers, gringo and Dominican families, and even, when I was staying there on different occasions, two Govt ministers.

Sadly, it is no longer like that, but a lot of guests put in a day's work on their laptops. You cannot be fucking all day after the first week!

Free wireless is widely available in Sosua, and if all else fails, internet cafes are ridiculously cheap.

Someone somewhere here mentioned about dental braces.

A few weeks back, a girl sent me a picture via whatsapp telling me she is going to get one and what did I think. I was driving and could not see / understand the picture and so I asked her somewhat stupidly as to why her getting braces would impact me. Later when I saw the picture I cracked up, hope you guys would find it equally zany.

Sometimes where and how you meet a girl can determine her behavior. Girls are more relaxed when they are on the street or at the beach. IF you speak some Spanish jokes and fun can happen creating a better environment for everyone. When they are comfortable even hard core girls can be sweet hearts. Often they put on and take off the hard core masks.

I don't think they loan portable ones to customers, but if they did it would presumably be for a huge deposit and only to staying guests. Maybe Yanqui69 could clarify?

I was last there last summer. As of then, there were several laptops hooked up in the bar area for customer use. Of course, the chicas were all over them when they were unoccupied. If a customer doesn't wish to use one of the laptops there, there is wi-fi available for customers' laptops to use elsewhere in the complex. I am not aware of FOD loaning out computers for use away from the bar area. Seems unnecessary, given the available options. This arrangement is probably the same at all the Playa Dorada AIs; (at least it is in the Barcelo).

I met several mongers during my travels to DR who told me that they had faithful dominican novias and that their girlfriends were different. I told them that I would wager them $50 and do a Facebook faithful test. They gave me the chica's facebook information and I sent them some bullshit messages that I was going to be traveling to the DR in the near future. Within 15 minutes of facebook messages, I had the chicas phone numbers & agreeing to sex & CIM for $3,500rd. The innocent mongers were heartbroken to say the least! You have to remember that you are ONLY renting the pussy during your vacation. Forget the relationship bullshit!

It was a bet, I don't see what he did wrong at all. Those guys will thank him once they get a clue, he saved them a ton of WU money. Well they each had to pay him $50 for losing the bet plus he states that they were "heartbroken" Perhaps this was how he decided to pay for his trip, and I must admit the guys were very, very foolish to accept the bets, but shattering people's dreams still seems like an unpleasant thing to do and there is no guarantee that it will save them money, because if they break up the relationships over this, they will probably get another novia before long and start sending more money.

See, these guys may have had relationships with the novia's families, children, and goodness knows what, and when you go around challenging people to bets like this, you really don't know what you are messing with.

I am not defending the women. To immediately agree to perform oral sex with CIM with a complete stranger on Facebook is quite gross.

Many years ago when I lived in Bermuda there was a popular movie involving Robert Redford and Demi Moore in which Redford was a billionaire who offered a struggling architect a million dollars to sleep with his attractive wife (Demi Moore) and the guy took the money and then regretted it later.

A local newspaper in Bermuda interviewed women in the street and asked them if they would sleep with Robert Redford for a million dollars and a large number of them said "Hell, yes" so certainly a significant number of ordinary women are willing to have sex for money if it is enough, even if they are not normally hookers. I can see a certain equivalency, but the sad thing is that so many Dominican women would do this for just $3500 pesos. They should have asked for more.

I never understood why some men will sponsor, support, or pay for a woman miles away! Is she your wife? Is she the mother of your children and got custody of them?

The answer is NO. She is someone you had sex with. That's it! Whether it was great or not, why'all got along well or not. At the end of the day your relationship is based on pleasure and material. Wake the fuck up. Use your bigger head!

Why in earth do you feel any sense of sexual exclusiveness with her? Cause you are paying her a monthly fee? You think she doesn't know you are shagging other skanks too?

You owe her nothing and she owes you nada!

No need for that monthly $50-200 maintenance fee.

I never understood why some men will sponsor, support, or pay for a woman miles away! Is she your wife? Is she the mother of your children and got custody of them?Needless to say that will never happen to me. One of my non-pros in Puerto Plata asked me for a gift the other day after I told her Happy Mother's Day. That confused the shit out of me. I told her no because she is not my mother and that was a day between mothers and children, not mothers and boyfriends. She got angry. Why would she expect a gift, not to mention have the audacity to ask for one?

Anytime a woman is on the street with a child in tow and begging me for money or some internet chick comes with the sob story of needing pampers or milk or a doctor visit I tell them that they better find the daddy. I have no desire to provide for a kid that I didn't get to enjoy making.

I used to think the same way too, but even in the US it is now common for Mother's Day to be promoted as a day in which every woman who has or had a mother, is a mother, or would like to become a mother is expecting some kind of gift, a day off work, or something of that kind. That is the effect of capitalism and marketing for you.

But why did you wish her a Happy Mother's Day in the first place if you didn't want to acknowledge her or the day?

Likewise, I don't expect everyone who tells me Happy Birthday on Facebook to be sending me a present.

Ok this has not much to do with mongering, but then when I can not contact chicas when I hit the Ground it will have to do something with mongering in its own way: p.

My Santo Domingo Novia often send me silly whatsapp messages where you can gain this and that when you forward the message to 20 people etc.

But today she sent me a message where it says you have to verify you DR sim card till 12 June or they cancel your acount. I looked into it at the orange homepage and indeed there you can verify your sim or something, but with my malo spanish skills I do not understand it 100% and I can't verify because I do not have a dominican cedula LOL.

This is the Link for Orange Sims http://www.orange.com.do/web/guest/validacion-de-lineas-prepago I checked.

But her message said it concern all dominican Phone carriers.

Can anyone tell me what's the fuzz about it?

In January I bought that sim and did give them my Passport so for me it is verified.

I have a Nokia 1020 and this Phone cause serious Problems with Orange Prepago Sims. I was in 5 small shops and all said prepago is not possible with that phone. I was 2 Hours in the Orange Head Store and a Technican was fixing it 1 Hour until it worked. Either all dominicans that work in Cellphone Stores are totally dumb or it is really true and my phone is some kind of special. Anyway I lend the sim card to friends that was travelling to the DR, which recharged it there, to keep it active. Until my next trip I will go on with that or recharge it online because there is NO WAY I will spent my time again hunting a sim card in Puerto Plata. Last time was a pain in the ass. Besides that I have 2000 Pesos Credit on the sim I do not like to loose. And Flights from Germany always bail in at late Hours in the DR and I like to stay connected and online when I hit the ground.

Here in Germany I only can use the Orange Homepage because I did forget to activate roaming when I was on the Ground and here the Sim Card does not conect because roaming is not activated. But that Link on the Hompage give me an Error when I type in the Number of my Passport which I used to buy that sim.

So does anyone can tell me if I really must verify my sim till the 12th June on their Homepage and if so how can I do it without DR Cedula?

So does anyone can tell me if I really must verify my sim till the 12th June on their Homepage and if so how can I do it without DR Cedula?(1) This only applies to pre-paid celulars. The sort where you have to insert "minutes" before making calls. If you have a contract or "plan" it does not apply.

(2) It applies to all service operators in the DR, Orange, Claro, Viva, etc.

(3) If you have a cedula you can do it online.

(4) If you do not have a cedula you will have to go to a main office of the company with your passport.

(5) If you do not verify your phone by 12 June your account will be cancelled. Presumably you will lose your number and any stored minutes, though I have not seen that stated anywhere.

Needless to say that will never happen to me.

I have no desire to provide for a kid that I didn't get to enjoy making.Maaaaaaan you SPOKE THE TRUTH! They do not even think or care about your situation, problems or your children.

You don't know if he intended to really collect on the bet or was simply buttressing how sure he was. Some people who are sure of something, make bets but arent really concerned about getting paid. The payoff is proving the point. But if he indeed collected it would have been a win / win for those guys. A $50 lesson that potentially saved them thousands of dollars. So when you read that the guys were supposedly heartbroken, were you imagining these guys slumped in a chair weeping, possibly thinking of suicide after learning the truth? LOL.

You can cancel out him using the money for his trip. Thats just some out of left field speculative nonsense.

See, these guys may have had relationships with the novia's families, children, and goodness knows what, and when you go around challenging people to bets like this, you really don't know what you are messing with.WTF does that have to do with anything? You don't know what you are messing with? Did it ever occur to you that the woman is the one potentially fucking up those extended relationships with her own behavior? That is where the crux of the problem lies. Her deceit, not his bet. What you should be saying, does she know what she is messing with by fucking with other men when she supposedly has a boyfriend? Thats where your focus should be, not blaming some man.

I am not defending the women. To immediately agree to perform oral sex with CIM with a complete stranger on Facebook is quite gross. You may not be defending the woman. But you sure have focused more towards the guy making the bet moreso than the womans behavior. Maybe you didn't get it. But those guys are the ones who agreed to the bet. They did so thinking they were right and the other guy was wrong. They gave full cooperation. Nothing foolish about that. Whats $50? For you to even focus primarily on some mans bet, and go soft on the womans deceit, omitting or downplaying the fact that it is her deceit potentially ruining any extended relationships is an example of how the concerns for preserving and supporting manhood has plummeted right before our eyes. Women, children, and overly sensitive men, their feelings and concerns are more important than a man being empowered and enlightened with the truth. I read the post and had a different reaction. I was generally in accord with those men experiencing their disappointment for a greater good. I wasnt thinking about relationships being compromised because of their awareness. I felt that was the womans problem, not the mans. I also felt those men should be able to recover from this, and be more aware the next time they attempt to hookup. The woman on the other hand, can either learn from this and do better or choose to be more covert and cautious in her actions with the next dude she attempts to bamboozle.

I used to think the same way too, but even in the US it is now common for Mother's Day to be promoted as a day in which every woman who has or had a mother, is a mother, or would like to become a mother is expecting some kind of gift, a day off work, or something of that kind. That is the effect of capitalism and marketing for you.

But why did you wish her a Happy Mother's Day in the first place if you didn't want to acknowledge her or the day?Just because something has become common or bred by capitalism / marketing doesn't mean everyone has to follow. Most aware people are free to get off the merry go round of ignorance or choose to leave the sheep herd anytime they choose. Your question makes no sense. If he wished a woman Happy Mothers Day, he just acknowledged her and the day. When did you assume he did not want to acknowledge her or the day? Please tell us how you assess him not wanting to acknowledge her or the day? Is buying a gift or doing something particular the only way to acknowledge someone or the day? I dont get your logic?

So should I expect the presents to be rolling in on Father's Day? Wishing her a Happy Mother's Day was acknowledging her and the day. That is not to say that a present should have accompanied my salutations. Likewise, I don't expect everyone who tells me Happy Birthday on Facebook to be sending me a present.Whippishhhhhhh.

Truth or hypothetical, based on the evidence, facts or details you clearly put the onus on some guy offering a bet as the person responsible for potentially messing up some extended relationships with the womans family. As if that is more important than those men knowing the truth , meanwhile omitting the womans role of deceit towards the men. Fact or fiction, You can't reverse where you stand on that. Theft of cell-phones is by far the most common crime in this country, often leading to violence and even death. They say they want to discourage it by being able to check that the current user of the cell-phone is the registered owner. Also to help in tracing calls used in crime, especially drug-related.

There is now a big drive on for everyone in the country to have some sort of legal status. There are tens of thousands of gringos, and hundreds of thousands of Haitians, who have none. Many Haitians are frightened to register their cellphones because they don't want to appear "in the system", making them easier to trap and deport.

I'm just curious. And I don't need to name names. You guys know who you are. But why is it you guys keep jumping to the defense of chicas / women in the DR? And using / relying on the poor woman excuse even when the issue points to those women clearly deceiving and dogging out men? Just about everything they do that's fucked up towards men, you guys downplay it, excuse it, or claim the man is responsible for the womans fucked up behavior? If that doesn't work, you go straight to talking about the womans poor status. Do ya'll ever hold these so called poor women accountable for shit?

I'm a let ya'll in on something I believe in. There are a lot of guys out there that are willing to do a lot for many of these poor women. But the truth of the matter is, it's the women that fuck things up for themselves by not being worthy, being too greedy, offering very little in return, juggling a bunch of men and conjuring up stories and lies to all of them, . So what's an aware man to do? He is forced to have to re adjust his sense of generosity and concern for these poor women. Especially if he is not going to get the rate of return on his investment or satisfaction as he had hoped.

And yet when men discuss issues of deceit or mal treatment from these poor women, a small group of men here seem to always have a bug up their butt in defense of their behavior. It's because they are poor women. We even had one of ya'll putting words in someones mouth saying I / we were calling these poor women bitches and some other derogatory name I can't recall.

But on the other hand, you muggs are in the minority (thank goodness). So nobody should really be overly concerned about what you guys think. It's just sad that we have such weak minded Capt sav a pro men amongst us within the mongering community.

No need for that monthly $50-200 maintenance fee.Say how you really feel! LOL.

Leaving Tuesday 6/10. Help!Yes, obviously, same as in any other country except possibly Bermuda or other countries that use the US dollar or have a currency with a 1:1 exchange rate. However you might get a better deal if you pay for your hotel with dollars, but check the available conversion rate on the day first. The reason could be that today's hotel room rate was set a few weeks ago when the conversion rate was different.

It doesn't matter if the story is BS or not. The point is, you responded and focused on certain things based on the details as you understood them. No I was skeptical of the story in the first place, but just decided to let it ride to see if more details emerged.

Of course it matters if the story is BS or not. To the extent that guys provide factual accounts of something that happened, they are of interest. If people are just posting amusing urban legend type stories as if they are fact, it is misleading.

For example, the Samana Highway makes it easier to drive from Los Americas airport to Sosua without having to traverse Santo Domingo. Few people would deny that fact. But how much time does it save?

For example if I say that the other day I drove from SD to Sosua via Nagua at night in about 3 hours, and that I drove the reverse journey in the daytime in about 2 1/2 hours that would be misleading since the journey actually took an hour longer each way and included heavy rainstorms and rock falls in the mountainous section. Someone who used this information might find themselves driving in the dark when they did not expect to, or trying to drive faster than the conditions allowed and endangering themselves and others.

Reading such stories presented as fact might given people the impression that all Dominican women, even when selected at random, are prostitutes, or that all Dominican women who have foreign lovers are prostitutes, when the truth is more nuanced. Certainly a much higher percentage of Dominican women will have sex for money than US women, no doubt about it, but there is a lot of middle ground.

One huge cultural difference was something I learned about on my very first trip to the DR. An English expatriate had a DR girlfriend whom he later had a child with, married, and took to live in England, and I believe she is still there. She found out that he had sex with another Dominican chica and her question was whether it was for money. In her view, if the girl did it for money, then that was OK, but if she did it for free that was a different matter and much more serious.

In the probably apocryphal story posted here, the boyfriends are said to be "heartbroken", but it is not clear if this is because they did not previously suspect that their girlfriends were hookers, or just because of the implied willingness to be sexually unfaithful with a complete stranger on Facebook.

We also don't know if the boyfriends are supposed to be monogamous or whether they are mongers. Judging by the posting history of the OP, he seems to have confined his visits to the DR to Punta Cana, so possibly this is supposed to relate to guys who visit the DR and stay with girlfriends at all-inclusives.

I am agnostic on the wisdom of sending money to Dominican "girlfriends". Guys should certainly be aware that the money may be misused or diverted to other family members or friends, or that the requests for money may escalate over time and get out of control. On the other hand, each situation should be evaluated on its own merits. Many people have considerable funds available for personal entertainment, and it is up to them to decide how to use them. A friend of mine spent $500 on tickets to a Paul McCartney concert for himself, his wife, and 2 kids, and left half way though because the kids were bored. I had warned him in advance that this could be a waste of money, but he paid up anyway, because that was what he wanted to do.

Presumably between the novios and the womens family. You also said the guys who accepted the challenge were foolish. You also said the womans part in it would be gross. Soooooooo, What part of those statements is supposed to be you letting it ride? Why the hell would you give an opinion and make a judgement on something if you were skeptical of the story or thought the whole story was BS? Apparently that didn't stop you.

Personally I think you would have represented a more manly and mature approach by simply asking the man for more specific details and clarification? Then you could have been more enlightened about the whole situation, and realized where the discrepancy lies. With you ( assuming shit without facts ) or with the OP. That approach is much better than using the typical tactic you used that females tend to use towards men?

They gave me the chica's facebook information and I sent them some bullshit messages that I was going to be traveling to the DR in the near future. I reported a while ago about one of my regulars who told me she was home in bed due to an injury, and was going to be in bed for another week. The next day, I arrived in the DR and went to the playa. She was at the playa with one of her clients. I saw her before she saw me. But when she looked up and saw me she almost turned red from being cold busted. Meanwhile I walked past both of them like nothing happened. The guy sensed something by the way she was acting.

When I finally talked to her about the situation, she had an excuse for why she was at the beach and not bed ridden. Lying for many of these chicas is essential and subconscious, like breathing. Thats why I don't feel guilty lying to them. Mind you, I'm no WU novio, nor do I send money. The chicas just dont want their clients to know what and who they are doing. Ironically, some will complain or yakkity yak about how many chicas you supposedly are messing with. SMH.

I am taking the liberty of copying Wrx2005's useful post here as the info applies to all of the DR, not just Sosua.

Soon as I was out of the POP terminal I started asking about this verification program of cell sims supposedly going on. 1st guy I spoke to about it was the dominican who is employed at the car rental place. He said it was true, and most of his family did the verification online. Then I talked to my Tourist guide buddy Miguel and he said the same thing. I asked why are they doing it? They both claim that they are implementing a system where they can identify crank callers that abuse emergency services, like the fire department, ambulance, police etc. I think the problem is, there are many sim cards that are bought on the street, often individuals have several cards. Apparently these cards are not readily identifiable to who is using the sim. So they want to rectify that. I suppose any sim that can't be verified will be terminated.

Okay so I went to Orange. The girl there asked for my passport (gave her a copy) and asked me to write down my numbers. She got on her computer terminal for a minute or two, handed my papers and said I was okay. I asked her specifically what happens to people who have sim cards but they are in another country? She said that sim will become terminated and they will have to get a new number. I asked about a deadline, and she said tomorrow June 12 is the deadline. I wanted to ask more questions to make sure I understood everything, but she was busy tending to other anxious customers.Great information.

Did you get the impression that she was just checking that you were already in the system (perhaps because you showed your passport when buying the SIM) or did she have to re-register you?

My girl was telling me about that yesterday, but she didn't mention today being a deadline. I really didn't understand because a couple of months ago when I changed from regular SIM to micro SIM they checked all of my information. So why should I have to go back for them to check my information again? And I started to stop by Claro when I was leaving the capital yesterday to check on it. I guess I will have to do it today to be on the safe side.
This is ridiculous. I have 4000 pesos on my Claro sim and they are going to just cancel it? I don't get into the DR until tommorow. Can I go into the Claro store in the airport and take care of this or get a new sim?I'll check on it when I go today. But I have noticed that when I try to add the internet, for some reason it doesn't let me anymore.

Can I go into the Claro store in the airport and take care of this or get a new sim?I just came from Claro here in Bonao to verify my phone. When I walked in the lines were quite long. The line to the verification actually went fast. I think it was 10 minutes. However there was already a lady going down the line writing people's names and phone numbers. Since I do not have a Dominican cedula I had to go a different route. She had to copy my passport to the back of the form below and she filled it in. I had to sign at the bottom. Since Showdown had mentioned in the General thread that he is not in country and didn't want to lose his credit, I asked about it.

For those who are not in country call this number today: 1-866-788-6775 and they will take care of you.

First thanks Mr E. For the info.

I just called the 800 number and she told me that unless you have a cedula that you cannot renew on the phone or Internet. She said you will have to take your passport to a Claro / Orange store and show your passport. So for anyone, like myself, who is not in the DR today your phone number will be suspended and number lost and any money you have on your phone will be lost as of 11:59 EST today.

Goddamn ridiculous. I am absolutely incensed. The DR, between the outright incompetence of the government, the ignorance of the people, the harassment by Customs when returning to the USA and the never ending request for money from whatever women you hook up with (paid or otherwise) has now encouraged me to find another place to monger.

Go to hell DR. Tomorrows trip cancelled now and forever.

the harassment by Customs when returning to the USAI just remembered. When I was in the immigration area at POP airport coming in, I greeted the male agent. Within seconds he was quietly pumping me for me to give him 100 pesos for a cerveza. I just ignored him and kept it moving. I hope nobody ever ends up having a problem through one of those agents. This appeared in today's DR1.

There will be no extension of the order to disconnect pre-paid cell phones that have not been validated by their owners. The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) says it had given telecom companies six months to notify their clients and validate their pre-paid mobile line registration. The validation ordered in Resolution 039-13 requires the numbers to have a corresponding Dominican I'd (Cedula) or foreign passport number, which must be confirmed by the holder of the identification. Numbers that are not validated will be cancelled as of 12 June 2014.

The validation is being required for security reasons. It is expected that there will be a considerable decline in the number of cell phone robberies once these are validated. Likewise, the authorities expect to leave criminals that use the anonymous phones without their work tool. The effort also corresponds with the start of the 911 emergency line system in the Dominican Republic. Those making nuisance calls will be easier to identify.

The telecom companies had requested a six-month extension. It is estimated that more than four million mobile phones have not been validated. Owners will be able to gradually validate their phones after they are disconnected.

People who have tried to validate their numbers using the online links encountered major difficulties in recent weeks. The telecom companies say the Internet lines are congested and people should try at different times. The alternative is a long wait in line for the validation at telecom shops.

The communications director at the largest provider Claro, Gerty Valerio, says that to date about a million clients have been able to validate their numbers since the public was informed they could carry out the validation online last week.

The customs lady explains I need to pay tax on it, I explain that the form states anything less than 300 there is no tax, she says after me being away for 3 months. I was only away for 1 week. Anyway she tries to shake me down for $50 bucks, which would be more than the tax, $36. I make a big stink and tell her lets go to her boss and I want to pay the tax. Since she was shaking me down, her tune changed quickly. She told me just to go. Next time I think I will insist on paying the tax, spend the money and get the next one in trouble.

Showdown. My last trip to DR was in 2005. I did some research last year to see if it was worthwhile to make a trip. I passed as I was not getting a good vibe from my sources.

My first trip was in 1996 and I had very good times on my trips. But starting around 2000 the DR started to decline with unreliable electricity and rising crime. In addition, some of the clubs also went downhill. I found several good chicas at Lapsus in my earlier trips but not so much on my trips in 2002 and 2004. When my taxi driver to the airport when leaving on my last trip loaded, checked, and primed his BIG gun before starting out, I knew that DR was no longer worth it for me.

Just out of curiosity, what is the job and what does it pay?It should be a job at the banca (those ubiquitous lottery places) where they make you work 12 hours a day for 6 days a week for 6000 DOP a month.

Of course the man is always discriminating. He always picks the perfect ho and pays them the right amount and HIS (note the possessive) girls are also always educated, truthful and always have a high paying job at hand and if not, the job is always for her to whistle at. So they can pay him for the privilege of sleeping with him.

I said public cause you can meet some honey!Sosua beach is not bad for swimming. I once swam all the way from the Sosua end to the Charamicos end and back.

Las Terrenas has lovely beaches scenically, but I can't remember how deep or calm the water is for swimming. Ideally for swimming you want deep water, no breakers or undertow, and a wind coming off the land that will flatten the waves. Hard to find.

However at this time of year it will be very, very hot on the sand beaches in the middle of the day and few people will be able to take more than half an hour of direct sun, so you need somewhere where you can rent an umbrella and have cold drinks close at hand.

In some respects a nice hotel pool may be better, plus you don't get your feet dirty with sand or have to walk on burning hot sand.

Thank you.

That zen state of mind is hard for us to acquire I guess. Not really. I discovered years ago independently of any religion that it is best to live totally in the present and to make oneself aware of all the physical sensations of breathing, heart beating, peristalis, hunger, thirst, etc. And to enjoy every moment of it, because you will never have it again and when you look at it in retrospect, there is hardly anything that is worth losing sleep over. I think I discovered this when I was 17 and hitch hiking in the Austrian alps and stuck alone on a deserted mountain road with darkness approaching and nothing but a thin sleeping bag and a a change of clothing. I just said to myself "Well I won't die if I have to spend the night here, and I won't starve to death, so I might as well enjoy the pretty summer evening. " Ten minutes later a black Mercedes stopped and took me to the nearest town and I was soon enjoying a fine dinner and some German beer after a hot shower.

There is no cure or vaccine for the chikungunya virus.CDC has excellent preventative measures listed on its site. These include covering your skin as much as possible -clothes wise, using mosquito repellent ointments on exposed skin and staying indoors (with aircon and / or using mosquito nets) whenever possible, essentially do all that is possible to avoid mosquito bite as mosquito is the only vector.

Is there a shot I can get from drug stores as soon as I land in the DR? I'd hate to have that infection cut into my fun (planning to go within the next 30 days).

I follow about 20 chicas on Instagram and 2 or 3 have posted pics of them being sick. That's a pretty scary percentage from a small sample size!Keep in mind its spread by mosquitoes.

Some insect repellent would be your best bet, with closed / screened windows at night.

I was talking to a long time amiga who has the virus. She is young and vibrant. The virus has her almost bed ridden. She says her whole body hurts. Getting this would be a bit of a night mare for us older guys.

I'm flying back down in 2 weeks, my last visit about 2 months ago, the mosquitoes ate me up. This thing seems to be widespread I'm crossing my fingers on this one.

Were can I take a bus to Juan Dolio? Where is Slip on me massage place located? Gracias.I assume you can take a guagua from the Boca Chica station. Juan Dolio is only 15 minutes from Boca Chica.

Slip on Me is in a building on George Washington in Santo Domingo. It is actually an apartment. Do a search. I reported about it over a year ago.

By the way, does anyone know the actual meaning of guagua? When we were on the way to the movies last night my girl told me to follow the guagua into the parking deck. She was referring to a sport utility vehicle.

If you have a US cell phone, it may not be worth getting a DR phone, especially if you just visit now and again. Here are some alternatives:

1. Ringo, a downloadable phone app that you can use to make calls to DR cell phones from the US for 7. 5 cents per minute. You can make calls without a data connection or wi-fi, but you can't make calls from inside the DR. The phone you are calling does not need a data or wifi connection.

2. Viber, a downloadable app that you can use to make free calls from the US to the DR, but you must have a data connection and the phone you are calling must have one too. You can also make these calls from inside the DR if you have a data connection in your hotel or at a restaurant.

3. Skype, you need a data connection or wifi and you can call DR cell phones for 16 cents per minute pay as you go, or 10 cents per minute if you buy a 120 minute package. The receiving phone does not need a data or wi-fi connection. You can also make calls from inside the DR if you have a wi-fi connection, for example in your hotel or in a restaurant.

4. Spaxtel, downloadable app can make calls from the US or inside the DR to DR cell phone numbers for 17 cents per minute. However you either need a wi-fi connection in the DR, or else the app needs to be able to send an SMS message to get the call initiated. If you have an ATT phone with no overseas calling or roaming plan an overseas roaming SMS call will cost you 50 cents per message, so your call from DR to DR will cost you 50 cents plus 17 cents per minute, which comes to a dollar for a 3-minute call.

Conclusion: If you are not making a large volume of calls in the DR, a combination of one or more of these apps may be all you need with your US phone. Beware however of receiving calls while roaming if you have no roaming plan, as this will get very expensive. You can also make or receive roaming calls in the DR on ATT without a plan, but this will cost about $2. 50 per minute. So you might want to use this for an occasional emergency call or to let someone know that you just arrived at the airport, but it is best to keep the roaming turned off when you are not using it for an outgoing call.

Booked a one way non-stop from YYZ to POP.

Still haven't found a good return ticket, but I've noticed that last minute bookings seem to give the best deals this month.

Question: Will there be an issue enter DR with no booked return ticket? As I am hoping to book my return last minute (length of stay in DR 6-7 days).

Thanks!

I am staying at the Mary Rose for the first time in a couple weeks, I've never even been by the place as its location is somewhat off the monger beaten path, it comes well recommended and I've met the owner Rick on a number of occasions.

The purpose of me staying there is I am interested in possibly renting there for three months, I have a golden opportunity to rent out my place in Colombia during the holiday / feria season which would be great as I don't like being there during that time anyway, too much craziness, noise and too many thieves, been there, done that. For what I have been offered, it will pay for all my DR expenses for three months with money left over.

My question is are there any markets or even a colmado within a very short walking distance and what about restaurants that might serve breakfast. I am traveling with a wingman that can't walk long distances and taking a moto is not an option for him.

Has any member stayed at Mary Rose for an extended time, like more than a week? What was your impression and would you recommend it?

There is a small store about 50 meters from the apartments. There is also a restaurant, but I'm not sure if it serves breakfast, Rick could fill you in. Good kitchen so you or a GF can always cook the breakfast in your apartment. As an alternative, I believe that Rocky's delivers to the M. R.

I could not do 3 months in Sosua. It is very small and will become very boring after a week. Consider SD much more to do. Nicest malls I have ever seen. Something new everyday. You speak the language and have those skills that would make SD very interesting. You can also do trips to other cities when you get bored. You make friends and learn the real dr. There are reasonable apartments in good neighborhoods that woud be fun to learn. I spent a week in a neighborhood in the colonial zona. After a few days I felt a part of the seen. Your Dominican friends will introduce you to more women then you could dream of. Cute non pros who want to fuck and nag the rich Foreigner. We are talking dream come true. In fact I haven't pulled a girl from there in over two years. I will spend my days on the beaches of both Sosua and Cabarete chilling out drinking beer and chatting up girls and taking trips around the north coast. I'll go to the bars in Sosua to drink but I have girls, I don't need those hard core putas. If I get bored I'll leave but I doubt I will, I'm used to spending the winter balls deep in snow, now THAT'S boring. The area where Mary Rose is very quite. As mentioned there is a little grocery store a block away. It is some what limited but what they do have, they offer at the best prices in town as this place is always busy. Of course you can always take the moot to the super market for about 40 pesos. As far as restaurants it's pretty limited. There is a little cheap local carry out spot a block down by the island hotel. There is also a good cheap little German place next door that offers breakfast, lunch, dinner but good luck finding it! It has the worst signage and marketing ever. It's literally right across the street and is part of some hotel. You will see the little street front bar ran by the Canadian Ted, good guy, stop and have a drink while you're there. Then right after his bar chances are you will see a blue pick up truck parked in a little open door looking garage. Just walk in through there and you will see a pool and hotel then the restaurant. I never really mind walking anywhere in Sosua though, it's small and I felt safe everywhere.

In fact I haven't pulled a girl from there in over two years.Someone with your experience and connections has no need to pull anyone from the strip. I will be spending a few days in Sosua soon but to do my restaurant and cigar tour (and the beach) along with the women (none of whom know how to swim. How hilarious can that be?) that would be joining me from elsewhere.

I think a 3 month trip has this great benefit: When I go, I have barely a week and way more than 7 women lined up and very soon I am all out of leche. A longer stay like what you are describing, gives a man an opportunity to replenish the supply, rather than the marathon I am forced to run. Must be great, indeed I am green with envy!

By the way, I would this time drive to las terrenas (To see a different part). I plan to pass through Bonao, Cotui, Pimentel prior to hitting the Samana Peninsula. Let's see what's cooking in those places.

The few times that I have been to the PP area I have either rented a car or arranged a private transfer from the airport. $40 seems excessive for a one way trip from Sosua to BB. Do the mafia drivers allow you to put 3 guys in the cab to split the cost?

A taxi from blackbeards {to Sosua} will cost $1,700 pesos I believe. If you want to save money and don't have a lot of baggage, you could get a taxi (350 pesos?) just to the Parada de Sosua and catch a publico to Sosua. 100 pesos for the front seat to yourself and 50 peso tip to put a large travel bag, if you have one, in the trunk. Getting out in Sosua catch a moto (50 pesos) or taxi (200 pesos?) to Mary Rose depending on what you have to carry. The local transport might have a better clue where Mary Rose is than your Costambar cab, but I would keep Rick's phone number handy so they can phone for directions.

So a 1000 pesos saved. Probably only worth it if you are travelling light(ish).

Do the mafia drivers allow you to put 3 guys in the cab to split the cost?As you know, Manny, I don't like taxi-drivers, especially the Costambar, airport, Sosua and AI private cabs. (Never had a problem with those working within Puerto Plata city though. They are very reasonable. It is the same old story. Those working the captive gringo or tourist market will try to gouge you).

But the great thing with all DR taxis (good and bad) is that they charge per mile, not number of passengers. So you can sit four guys in for the same rate as one. If a cheap short trip I feel they are welcome to an extra tip for that.

Can someone elaborate on this "taxi mafia?" Is that just a term for collusion that the drivers agreed upon? Or could they eventually go and beat up someone that I hire as a private driver? It has been known. More likely to damage their vehicle though. The few times I have been with a non-cartel driver the worst that has happened has been a few sharp words or his passing a 200 peso "bribe".

Remember these guys have had to "buy" the right to serve those areas and with tourist numbers falling on the North Coast they can get a bit ratty if they are not covering their overheads.

Did not all the London taxis recently go on strike in opposition to "Uber"? Now I would not like to compare London taxi drivers to anywhere else in the world. They indeed are phenomenal (except I dare say, somewhat to Japan) but even then, a trade group has a right to organize. Methinks.

I was unfamiliar with area and was just kind of walking the beach. There wasn't really much on the beach except some regular tourists. I didn't really feel like negotiating in my limited Spanish, I was just happy to get a break from BB and have some interaction with a regular girl.
