Hippo out, Leonel in. Interesting to see what the next few months will bring.
Yes, Leonel Fernandez defeated Hipolito Mejia on the first ballot %54 to %36. Mejia has recognized the victory.
I think the first thing we should hope for is a safe, peaceful transfer of power. (This is never guaranteed) and then we should hope for a slow general improvment in the overall economy. Hopefully, no more protests that turn deadly.
I think everyone generally acknowledges that the days of a 15 RDP -1 USD are over but that an exchange rate of say, 38RDP to 1 USD is actually having the effect of spurring on tourism! Alot can we said for an island that can now claim to be "the best value in the caribbean!" The "DR" is that.
Cheers.
>>That link is to a yahoo article about how Medina already >>conceded that he lost.
Should have read MEJIA not Medina.
Medina is the nephew of the Mirabal sisters. Theyw ere killed by Trujillo. Had he not pushed Balaguer about his involvement on the death of his Aunts... he might have had a better shot in 200.
PLD tore the PRD a new one. Mejia saw he was lost before the second Bulletin was released.
I can't wait to go down for the Inaguration.
When I was in SD late last year every local I spoke to was hoping that Leonel Fernandez would win. I saw his posters everywhere. Hopefully this result will lift the people's spirit some, and what else it does we shall see.

Was checking the exchange rate and it looks to be up around 47-48. Mid fifties might not be out of the question in the short term. I was surprised to see movement like that on a "holiday".
Leonel will be good for the country but the place is such a mess things will need to get worse before better.
I see the exchange rate hitting 60 soon.
The past few months the exchange rate has been artificially low because of the govt trying to keep it low for the elections and also for the IMF. Posted rates of 42-1 mean very little. If you walked into a bank and said you would like to buy 10k in dollars they would not sell.
People holding dollars usually means the rate is actually higher.
At champions in the Juragua prices are now all in dollars. Same with the all night cafe in the Juragua.
I went to Outback the other day. My GF and her son. Bill was 3,700 pesos which is not bad.. . . . .. but in december we went with 10 people, 7 adults and 3 kids, had appetizers, lots of beer and the girls had frozen margaritas etc and the entire bill was like 6200 pesos.

Prtyr2,
Doing the math your Outback bill was around 70US with the dollar around 46-1. Are food prices now that high, or is that just reflecting the cost of beef in RD? Or you guys can really pound down the drinks, junior included...:)
I hope pricing in dollars is infrequent, I don't want to carry both currencies around not knowing who accepts what.
We probably had about 6 beers, 2 froxen lemonades, for the kid, their rib apetizer, 2 prime ribs and a burger. The 12 ounce prime rib is now 750 pesos. I remember when the 16 ounce was 400. Oh well. OTOH, I ate pasta with garlic and olive oil for dinnner the other night. Got it from Pasta Y Basta on Independencia. Cost 100 pesos. Just a bit over 2 bucks, can't beat that.
A dozen wings at Champions was $4.25 last night so it is still more than reasonable, but not as good as before. . . . .
Looking for: caramel complexion chicas with big tits and beautiful, round asses that are into giving bbbj. Where is the best place in the DR to find them?
Questions: a. Have any of the mongers out there ever brought a chica to the States with them? I've heard it is not a good idea. Not that I would ever consider doing this, but just curious as to the reasons why you should never bring one home with you.
b. I read that there are downsides to living in the DR as an ex-pat. I have considered buying a condo there to become a part-time resident. I know all the pros (pussy, low cost-of-living, pussy, warm weather, and pussy) but what are the cons?
Gee D Bridge. I've done both. . . . .he he he he. Married a Dominicana brought her to the states, seperated and now finally getting divorced. I also now live in Santo Domingo.
No major pitfalls to report in either case. The marriage didn't work but I can't say anything bad about her. No scamming etc involved, we just couldn't live with eachother, despite being in love.
The ex pat thang is similar. I would suggest spending a TON of time down here before moving here. I had been here over 30 times before hand. Still one gets confronted with 3rd world issues constantly.
Heck I had one apartment above a colmado, so peace and quiet were not something I got a ton of.
As far as caramel complexion with big tits and round asses? Where to find that? The answer is easy. . . .EVERYWHERE!
D Bridge:
The only major con I know of in the DR is obvious: compared to the U.S. due to economic conditions, there's less opportunity to make good money.

Don't Speak Spanish?
How sensible would it be for me to come here for a vacation not speaking Spanish? Would I have a good time? Would I have any luck with non-pros?
For p4p, would I find any English speaking ladies to spend the whole day and night with me?
Which city or town would be best? The capital?
If need Spanish, suggest some other countries in Western Hemisphere where English would be sufficient.
Thanks

Boy in Bubble,
I have been to the DR four times since Sept. 03, with only one solo travel. I speak little to no spanish and manage to communicate and have fun. I wouldn't suggest doing this if you have a big heart and can't stand up for yourself. I rented a car from national rental and grabbed me a presidente beer and was off. Make sure you exchange your money at the airport and separate the dough to several different pockets. I would go as far as suggesting a wasteside money bag or a money belt. Have loose dominican coins due to the possibilty of the toll collector ripping you off. Carry a small calculator to stay on top of how much money you spend and receive. Stay away from multiple groups and the occassional amigo who is willing to look out for you. You are better off dealing with employees, but I recommend someone who doesn't leach onto you too close. If you decide to rent a car keep in mind that most dominican drivers, drive as if they're trying out for nascar. there are numerous pedestrians out all times of day and nights and dashing across the major highways like deer during hunting season. If you do decide to go solo, consider paying one of the hotel staff who speaks both languages to chaffuer you around on their off time so you can enjoy the sites and drink till your heart desires. Keep the passport and valuables in your room or hotel safe. My only problem when I travel to the DR is that I don't budget myself smartly. I find myself making frequent trips to the ATM, exposing myself to many hungry eyes.
Be safe and enjoy.
hey I have been to several countries and your spanish does not matter. grab a book from the writers of lonely planet the book is caled something like latin america phrase book it has a few pages on getting freaky. If they are pros they know the basic anyway .I have been with a few domicanas in panama they were kind of aggressive. if not some one in the pick up spot knows english tell them what you want . or most of us at first go around with a taxi driver that can bargin for you good luck
I think of going to DR for the 1.time. Ihave seen that their currency is really down at the moment and the euro is 3 times more worth then 2 years ago. How much are the hotels ,chicas, food etc. at the moment? Is it really cheap at the moment?
Thanks for helping

Kuranyi,
You get about 48 pesos to the US dollar. I guess you can do the euro calculations. It's VERY cheap!

Its been cheap for the last 4 years!
At *******,
It depends what you mean with "cheap". The dollar has been pretty strong in the last 4 years, now it is the euro. For me a hooker in a 3rd world destination who wants 50$ for ST is not cheap. It looks like in DR the price is about 800-1500 peso which is about 14-25 Euro. That is o.k. I am monger on budget, but i always had a good time when I traveled.

I am off to the DR for the first time on Wednesday and planning on staying two weeks for some fun. I heard from a friend that it would be wise for me to bring a cell phone to communicate with girls when I am there (I am semi-fluent in spanish). Its always complicated giving them the number of your hotel and if possible, I would like to just give them a cell phone number when I meet girls. Does anyone know if I bring an old sprint pcs phone (motorola flip, no SIM card), can I activate it somehow in the dominican for two weeks? anyone know about pricing? I searched the entire board for info before I posted but couldn't find out any details. Would really appreciate some help.
Thanks in advance guys. Will be sure to post an update when I return!
EDITOR's NOTE: Posting of this report was delayed pending revisions to remove the forced hard returns in the text.
For those of you who may not be familiar with this concept, a "hard return" is created when you press the "enter" key while typing, thus artificially shortening the length of the text by forcing it to begin on the next line. Hard returns are also caused by some word processing and email programs.
More preferable would be a "soft return" wherein the text is allowed to continue automatically on the next line when it reaches the right side of the screen thus automatically adjusting to the varying width of each viewer's screen.
If your reports are being composed in a word processing or email program that is artificially inserting hard returns in the text, then please consider composing your Forum reports in another program or in the Forum's "Add New Report" window.
To avoid delays in future reports, please consider composing your report in the Forum or in a word processing program that does not insert hard returns in the text. Thanks!

Sprint PCS can be activated in about 5 minutes at any Verizon outlet (CODETEL) for 100 pesos for the PRL. (If you don t get the PRL your calls will cost more. )
You will need the unlock code it is a ## + 6 digits (not the same unlock for the keypad) If you don t have this code then you will have to pay 500 pesos for them to unlock it.

Rent a phone for $2 a day down there, its simple that way.
Sorry for being naive but has the recent flooding and then the earthquake impact the hobbying situation? Pricing raise? Less chicas available, etc?
I have never been to DR and would like to experience it in the next few months.
Thanks,

Jimmy DR,
Provided that your cell phone is capable of being used in the DR, you can pay an additional $10. per month with Sprint PCS, and use your phone in the DR with no problems. You will be charged a rate of .42 cents a minute and you will have to be on one of the america plus plans. Minutes from your plan will be deducted for each call, and nights and weekends are free with just the .42 cent per minute charge. Your Chica will have to call your US area code and seven digit number.
Good luck

Last time I was down there, I bought a brand-new Nokia phone for about 40 dollars from the Orange store right on El Conde in the historical center of Santo Domingo. So if you're staying two weeks, that would mean something like 3 dollars per day, and you keep the phone afterwards. The one I bought clearly wasn't the most expensive one, but it also wasn't the cheapest - if I remember correctly, they had some for as little as 1000 Pesos, in which case, for a two-week vacation, it's actually cheaper than renting at 2 dollars per day, or about the same. You can buy phone cards to charge credits to the phone at any colmado. Rates were reasonable - about 10 US cents per minute for outgoing calls anywhere in the DR, incoming calls are free. The important thing: you keep the number you get as long as you put credits into the phone at least once every three months. So before you leave, buy a bunch of phone cards to periodically refill the credits, and you can keep the same phone and the same number for a long time.
I am hoping to visit the DR from the UK sometime in the period September to November. I am looking for general advice about how to go about things. I know only a few words in Spanish. I am really looking for black chicas.
I am planning to base myself in SD and make some trips to Boca Chica. Is this a good way to go about things?
Is it true that there are quite a lot of Haitian women working in SD, and if so, what is the best way to meet them? (given my lack of Spanish and compatability issues with UK phones anything involving a mobile is not likely to be of much use).
Are there any other British punters out there with experience of the DR?

R Ley,
I am an American who also does not speak a word of Spanish.
I would recommend flying into Puerto Plata and staying at an adult resort called Blackbeards. http://www.blackbeardsadultresort.com/ They will pick you up at the airport. The rooms and food are good. The owner and manager are both Americans, speak Spanish, and will help you have a good time. As far as girls check them out at http://www.blackbeardsadultresort.com/beauties/. Blackbeards screens the girls and make sure that they will treat you right and not rip you off. I had a great time at Blackbeards and am planning a return trip.

R ley,
Read your report. When I was in Boca most of the girls were were dominican but dark. If you want Black girls Sosua is full of them. At 18 a session they were good. Talking about Hatians. Also there is an English pub in Sosua where you will be happy to speak English. Sosua is much better all around then the boca region.

I have read an online report of investment company ,which states that you can get up to 24% a yr bank rate in pesos and up to 12% in US $. I have never been to DR nor do I speak spanish.
For all of you who have been there, how true is this statement? If it is true, is that rate guaranteed or insured by goverment? And what best banks out there, can you advise?

Throwing out a tech question here. My firewall HATES this site, and will fend off a few syn port attacks and then close my browser down. Anyone else having this problem? I'm running McAfee VShield.
Well being the techie that I am I will offer this advice RearWindow.
First are you using IE only, because you can download other browsers that may not give you the same problem
i.e. Mozilla or Netscape
Try that and let me know how it works for you.

I am not quite sure of your exact question, but if you are asking if you can locate a wi-fi hotspot then check out this site: wi-fizone.org/zoneFinder.asp?TID=7
There is a WIFI hotspot in teh Acropolis mall. It is in the Verizon office. You do need a Flash acount to access it.
One of the MPs in SD has DSL. I may just "donate" a WIFI hotspot to them. So if my lights go out, I can sit at the bar and work!!!

I'm looking to get away for a week or so. Is the Dominacan Republic good for solo travel? Blackbeards looks pretty interesting. Seems like it would eliminate much of the leg work for a novice such as myself.
I have two questions for my fellow mongers, and I want to thank in advance anyone kind enough to answer them.
I have never mongered in the Dominican (I have principally in Toronto, Montreal, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands), but am considering a trip this August. Here are the two questions I have:
First, I have mixed feelings about the attractiveness of the girls I've seen in the photos posted on this website. I do not mean to offend anyone who finds them without exception attractive (nor the girls themselves, of course) -- I know these things are subjective. I also want to say that of course I would sleep with anyone in any of the pictures on this website....I'm not picky. My only reason for concern is that if I'm going to spend a wad of money giving myself a treat, I want it to be special. So could anyone tell me a bit more about what the scene is like in terms of attractiveness, range of attractiveness, etc.? I am not loaded, but I'm happy to pay more for girls that are more attractive. My ideal is 18-30, slender and tight, with a good face.
I know this is a tricky question because these things are subjective, but perhaps whatever answers anyone give will be helpful anyways. (I tend to find some of the women in the Brazil section pretty hot, for instance, but its more expensive there.)
My second question is whether anyone is interested in meeting up in August in the Dominican. When guys sin, it is often more fun to sin in groups.
Thanks,
Hapax.
Hapax, I'll start the responses. I can understand your question / concern though. On average I have found the DR girls posted here to be very attractive, some more than others, some much less. Everyone has their tastes and that's cool. However, I think the consensus is you will find very solid 6, 7's and 8's in DR. Every so often 9 and 10's (just look at flyboy's pics in the photo section).
Flyboys girls, who he found in SD, are strong 9 and 10's to me - slim, hot bodies 18-23 years old. I think that is the gold standard and can be found in any location in DR. (But why hold out for a 10, when you can have 2 really good 5's - or 5 really good 2's - as the joke goes)
My research on Brasil, however, leads me to believe a large proportion of the girls in the termas are of the 9 and 10 variety. With more 6-8's in Help disco or at the beach.
It's all relative and I think either location, you will find women that will make your jaw drop. I would not worry about it in the least. Check out the blackbeard's site showing about 30 or so of their professionals. I bet you will place a 9 or 10 on a number of those pics.
Hapax,
I read your post. The girls look like the girls in the photos. They are all not great. The majority of them are small and bow legged. Also they have a lot of marks on their skin. Also many of them have strech marks. And their pussies stink , not all of them. These girls are not hot looking N.Y. well fed, clean Latinas. But there are some pretty ones . In Puerto Plata the best ones are at El Boem , but their expensive. Also the country is dirty and poor. This not Miami . But saying all that , the place is still great , and the girls are hot in bed, and 18 dollars goes a long way there . And from my experiences the country is safe. There is a web site called Bomba bar, or something like that. Just google for beach bar sosua in image, and this site will show you great photos of how it looks there.
Has anyone used Yully's Escort Dating Services. If so, how was the service and girls? PM info.
Thanks
Hapax,
On Dominican beauty: Female attractiveness or the lack thereof is highly subjective. That aside, the majority of mongers that find dominican women up-to-par are the types who tend to be attracted to black women. After all,the majority of em are simply blacks who speak spainish as a first language. If you're not at all into dark chics,I wouldn't suggest the place.
Personally, I've come to believe that although dominican women might not be the most beautifull fems on the planet. They're never-the-less more attractive than american women on average. Have you noticed the huge upswing in the number of"fatties"in the states?. I think 60% of the u.s. is overweight. It's nowhere near as bad in the DR.
Take care!

I've read a bunch of past posts, but I'm looking for a quick answer to a few questions - maybe someone can post or PM?
For someone that can speak Spanish, hates being an "American tourist" (hope you understand this 'label, that's my intent in using it), and would avoid a hand-holding hobby experience (e.g. Blackbeards... these are great for those that want them):
1. Where is the best scuba diving (e.g. PP, PC, Dominicus?)? Is there a place that has great snorkeling but not a great dive destination?
2. Where is the best city/resort option for a mix of P4P and nonpros? I'm looking to spend some time with nonpros (e.g. amigos.com GFs), and still mix in some P4P at my hotel (not a love motel) for without hassle (need a chica-friendly spot)?
Thanks!
If you share some of these interests and are willing to trade some PMs - please contact me directly (via PM)?
If anyone has run across any extremely skinny chicas in DR (or anywhere in the Caribbean) I'd appreciate any tips for locating them.
I am a new member looking for a place to go on a Vacation. DR, looks like it is the one. Can you tell me what the best place to go there and where to stay
Thanks to everyone for the tips.
To chacho, yes, I do find dark women attractive, so that is not an issue, and I'm happy to hear you don't find them to be overweight, as that is something that I'd rather not pay for. (To each his own, but for me it is a turn off.)
To Scruffman, your post was a little more discouraging. Small, bow-legged, with bad skin and stinky pussies? Yikes. I hope this is an exaggeration! (I grant that you said some are pretty....I'll try to hold out for those!)
And BJ Lover # 2, thanks too for your note.
I'm wondering if I can ask another question. Could anyone guess what percentage of girls offer greek and cim?
thanks again! I promise to put your advice to good use!

Hapax,
I have NEVER been with a chica in RD who's pussy was nasty. The chicas I have had there have been far cleaner than most girlfriends I have had in the states. As of yet, I haven't met anyone who would do greek that wasn't a two bagger, but many will do CIM.
To address the attractiveness of RD women, I find they have this amazing sexy sense of style. If you live in states, look around for a second, las Latinas are always sharply dressed.Even a plump girl will catch your eye because of how they dress and ..ohhh.. that strut. Beauty IS in the eye of the beholder. I love darker women, so they are my ultimate weakness.lol.

.........Yes, yes, I couldn't agree with you more!! There is a uncomparable sexuality about RD women that you do not find in all other Latin American countries. The way they dress, the way they "carry" themselves, the way they walk, dance. (etc.) Central American women (with all due respect) are also beautiful but could learn much!

A Lesson for all who like to be in the company of Fine DR and Latin Women all over the world for that matter,
I'm going to extend a lesson in how to link up and meet non-pros, non-hooker women before you arrive, I was'nt going to give up my secret but here it goes . The rest is up to you my apprentices...
Ok, here we go!
A good way to meet regular chicks before you arrive is log onto to www.amigos.com or if you have msn messenger you can seek and email females from the SEARCH CONTACT OPTION on the Messenger for the dominican republic, the profiles have pictures as well on both sites. Amigos is a pay for site where you put a profile up in espanol (just translate it in english from a site) and you can seek and search for latin women all over the world. It's 10 dollars per month and it was well worth it for my trip (I paid the $10, 30 days prior to departure for my 2 week long trip late may early june).
I had great success being that I'm 24 years old, good looking, athletic, educated (Just obtained a Master's Degree in Urban Planning from Emory University in Atlanta, GA) and the women thought I was dominican and looked dominican but I'm African-American with light eyes and light brown skin and I have a intermediate understanding and knowledge of Spanish. Being that I look Dominican, I assimilated easier into their culture when hanging out with their friends, meeting family and just being out enjoying life while I was there. The response you may get will depend on your looks, age and what you have going on in your career and a willingness to understand or learn spanish. Many of the females I met on amigos and msn spoke english but it was limited and it was my willingness to learn meet them half way that they really fell for me .
The quality of women you meet you can meet online are of outstanding quality and beauty (Med-School Students, Law-School Students, Tourism Students, Business and females who just work or recent college and grad school grads like myself) who have real ambitions and who are non-pros who are going places in life and live in the Capital (Santo Domingo) and Santiago. I met over 30 females on Amigos and MSN who I talked to daily on msn messenger, aol and yahoo and occasionaly on the phone (To about 5 of the ones who I really liked) before I arrived there. Now mind you that, many of the females who I talked to told me that they are not receptive to old men, non-good looking who just want to come out their and "become sex-tourists" and they will ignore you if you come off that way. Just like anywhere in the world, YOU HAVE TO HAVE GAME to make yourself attractive to the opposite sex.
When I arrived in Santo Domingo I had it all lined up, I only could meet with 12 of them during my trip because the 9 guys I went with wanted to see what Boca Chica is like so we did that scene for the first 4 days then on to the Capital of Santo Domingo and Santiago where I had my "Beautiful Winners on Arrival" that I met on Amigos and MSN. There we did the things you would do with any normal girl, hit clubs, toured the city, went on exursions and to different city sites went out to dinner, lunch, breakfest I met family and just had fun and of course had a lil nite action to cap it off (No Money payed). That experience really made my trip worth while, and especially made the $10 I paid for amigos.com worth it~ The thing is with me sealing the deal before I came out there It was like I already knew them and I had their trust. These were females who stayed in nice neighborhoods, had cars and went to the best places, just like the females I deal here with in the US so I was at home .
Now if you plan on going to Boca Chica, regular girls from Santo Domingo will be VERY HESISTANT to come see you. I had a few come out from Santo Domingo to see me because they could'nt wait the 4 days until I got into Santo Domingo but regular girls will never step foot in Boca Chica because it's tooo far (35-45 minute drive and it's nothing but Putas & Prostitutes and will be wondering why you even wanted to stay there. LOL (That's the reaction that I was getting . Boca Chica and Sosua have nothing but Village Chicks who are prostitutes and that's primarily it. So if you have game and want to step it up a bit, I would suggest going to the capital instead, but for your first time and it seems to me you are a rookie in ALL aspects of the game I would just go to Boca Chica, pay for some P and just have fun and chill, eat jet-ski and relax, you will have a blast trust me.
For myself I need more beauty and substance than your average Boca Chica or Sosua Street Rat and I got that and more in the Capital and Santiago where the women are of much higher quality and have more going for themselves, these are women that I still talk to via internet and on the phone occasionaly and that I will be seeing on my 3-4 times visiting each year. I have to admit I'm hooked on the DR and so are my 9 buddies who came down with me! But hey you have to step it up to get on that level buddy. Just my thoughts, I know this is a long post but I thinks it's important and informative for people to know the deal.

Guys,
It is impressive that you know local currency.
Noneless, it would be helpful if you gave currency in $, whenever that is possible. Rates change, but usually not much.
San Salvador has converted to $ in currency, and apparently others are following suit.
50,000 baht doesn't mean enough to me to check out the exchange rate. I'd really like to know what a dollar would buy.
Atl Dennis wrote:
I was'nt going to give up my secret but here it goes . The rest is up to you my apprentices...
A good way to meet regular chicks before you arrive is log onto to www.amigos.com
........... I may only be a lowly apprentice but I came up with this idea three years ago and have been doing it since! However, here's the problem. Since I also am not exactly the ugliest guy in the world and I have a few bucks and because of my proximity to "The Heights" in NYC I am a very attractive suitor for these women.
If you remember several years ago at the height of the Heidi Fleiss scandal that hit Hollywood, actor Charlie Sheen found out that there were literally dozens of entries regarding him in Heidi's little black book. When questioned about his conduct re: why he solicits hookers he gave the now famous line, "I don't pay them for sex, I pay them to leave!"
Sometimes a pro is much better than a regular girl. It's been my experience that regular chicas can become very "clingy" and difficult, and if a guy tells you that this has never happened to him than he's probably not all that attractive to them.
Just my opinion for what its worth, but than again I am only an apprentice.
Cheers,
FORD

I will second Ford's "clingy" observation with a note about my mongering buddy. He was flying out of Miami to SDQ and struck up a conversation with a woman a few seats over. The usual bla-bla started, she asks where are you going in RD etc. She's back to see family, he's going to do anything that moves.
Anyway, he exchanges digits, and after returning stateside , gets a call from la chica. Ohhh. when can you visit me in Miami? He's been back twice to see her, but says she is on a biological clock bender that is pretty scary.
I'm not ready to give up this freedom that I have recently found travelling. He's not either...
The beauty of the pros is that they understand why you are there too, so there's no commitment, just the hope that both will have a great time and do it as often as possible.any comments?
BTW, Atl Dennis, that was a great post in refer to the SD girls avoiding tourists from BC. Dead On. Were you part of the group of football sized guys in May? Just curious.

Atl Dennis,
My initial reaction to your post about game, and your secret amigos.com method, was one of amusement. Many of us who travel extensively for purposes of spending quality time with women of different cultures, have been doing this since...well since before you were born.
However, it never hurts to hear from someone with a fresh perspective, especially from someone with such vast experience and education.
I personally have found the chase to be more fun and rewarding as I've grown older, and hopefully a little wiser. It has never been difficult for twenty-something guys in their physical prime to find and bed young attractive women. Please try to remember that while you may have some aptitude, you didn't invent the game.

I have experienced the "clingy" syndrome from ALL of the woman I have cultivated relationships with in the DR. It's cool though because I love playing the game and I play it well, I let them know what I expect and they respect my space and guidelines are set. I could write for days how my girls call me on my phone 24-7 saying.. Deeennnniiisssss, Deenniisss, mi amor, lol. I have to admit, sometimes it gets a little irritating but I quickly put it down and let them know how this relationship is going to work.

Your right I'm not ready to give up my freedom either and with my SH and STI so consumed with their work primarily during the day I have plenty of time to be with my select core of hotties during various times during the day in Both Cities. For example, One day I meet my Lawyer lady for a lovely home cooked lunch at her condo in Bella Vista (Nice Area in SD) then pounced on her between the sheets and made her a little bit late back to work, then later in the evening after some R&R at my Hotel (Official Residence Hotel The Jaragua) I hook up with my med-school chick after her work at the hospital and class is finished and hooked up for dinner and dancing in the Conde, then back to The Jaragua for an intense session. I know how to play the game and the blueprint for me is set.
Yeah that is the beauty of pros (no commitment) but I don't like females that have had loads of cum in there mouth and get "dug out" on a daily basis. Just a personal preference of mine, especially when I pull top notch quality in ATL and Internationally why settle for a "street rat". Also, if you really get to know non-pros they are just like any other females, you have to realize that women love to fuck too all over the world and love the Dick like Males love pussy, you just have to dig a little bit and explore their freaky side because as we all know the negative perception of a promiscous woman. I have a equal balance of the game and know how to exploit and relate to all women of different social classes.
Yeah definately "Dead On" the woman of status definately avoid BC and they look at me crazy even when I mention it, lol. Santo Domingo women headto Las Terranas, Caberete and La Romana, Juan Dolio Bayahibe if they want a beach in the country. Yeah I was in that group of "Football Athlete Sized Guys", It was funny because when I was going thru customs in Ft. Lauderdale the customs agent asked us if we played ball, lol.

Ha ha, you are all on my jock on the first post now you "Rip Me", ha ha. And you doubt my sincerity about the woman I deal with, you can't be serious! Just because you can't do it don't hate on the next man, just come to the realization that the pay for game is all you buddy! Like I said out of my ladies I see in the DR right now one is in Law School the other in Med School doing her residency rotation throughout the country. I have others as well who are in school for business and in the tourist industry all that I met through amigos and msn. I would suggest you try amigos or msn before trying to hate on mine. And once again (I hate repeating myself) the females I hooked up with did'nt view me as a tourist type because I took the time to get to know them before my trip (on the messenger, email and once in a while on the phone) and I'm not a not a old, non-attractive whom they constantly get proposals online from, like I said the females I know there are not desperate ones that you may run into during your visit. They have their own money and do ok in there country. Try reading my post over again so I won't have to repeat myself again :).
You see guys I'm just trying to help out the clan and you have some snipers as always in life. No one can stop my flow! Try amigos or msn, believe me you'll luv it! Hey no hard feelings RW don't knock it until you tried and if you try and still can't get some cool ones from that internet method, there may be a problem.

If you guys aren't hooked up with a team, you might want to think about forming an Arena League team!
I should have put "rip" in quotes. It has been posted more than a few times that EVERYONE in SD is "going to school". so I look at that claim with some skepticism. But, YMMV, and I still think that your post overall was excellent on the mindset of the normal girls. Although , I think they all have an agenda there, so whether you pay up front, or a bit later , it's pretty much all the same.

I think that the thing that is missing on the discusion of regular girls vs. working girls is that you know something about the women. atl dennis is right if the girls are street rats then forget them but if they look like some of member ford's beauties then that's a different story. you guys all make some good points

LK,
Great points. One thing I have found (YMMV) is that i have been more likely to get the REAL life story from the working girls,at least from my experiences here and in MX. The non pros don't want to let you know they have been "busy" in the past..you know divorces, ex's etc. The working/semi pros pretty much lay it all out there. Sometimes whether you want to know or not.
I had that happen with an amante in BC. We were post sexo, and she goes into a bit of a life history, and asks me "do you want to know why I left my American Boyfriend?" I said no,but I'm guessing you are gonna tell me anyway...and she did.
Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum but have really enjoyed all of your memories of DR. I had the pleasure to spend a few days in Puerto Plata last year and can't wait for a return trip. Ater reading many of your posts I figured out that I was paying way to much for my fun, but being my first time there and not speaking Spanish, I dont regret one penny of it. I went to the El Bohem twice and had a wonderful time, my second night there ended with three beautiful ladies two of whom were sisters! The next night I told the same driver to take me somewhere else and we went to a place called "Crystal"? I had an even better time there. The women were beautiful and had the whole place to myself. I would like some advice though. I am planning a month-long trip to the DR and would like your thoughts on where to go, Santo Domingo? Boca Chica? Sousa or back to POP. Like all of us I am looking for the most attractive women at the most reasonable prices, and looking to possibly spend some extended time with the right girls (Time at the beach, Sight seeing, Etc.) Also would like names of hotels that are nice, VERY chica friendly, and affordable, or tips on how to know which places are or arent. I found out the hard way that All- Inclusives are not the place to try and take a girl! I stayed at the Iberostar Costa Dorada, very nice place but looking for someplace that better suits my travel plans. If anyone out there who is very knowledgeable on the DR would like to share their knowledge with an eager listener I would really appreciate it. Thanks for all of your pics, they have brought back some good memories of my trip. I had forgotten how beautiful Dominican women are.

This is probably a stupid question, but since I did not see anything in previous posts, is the electricity there 110 or 220? Are the plugs compatible with US?
Thanks,

EZE_Amante the electricity is compatible with the US standard electronics.

EZE_Amante I did the same thing when I was last in Sousa. I guess the easiest way to record your "mongering activities" for later posting would be to save a MS Word or text (.txt) file to a disk.
Now once you take a break in your mongering, you can go to an internet cafe and just cut and paste the text quickly (just in case you experience a power outtage) and share with the WSG community.

Good to hear they have internet cafes. That's exactly what I do when I'm in Buenos Aires, but the impression I get of the DR from reading the forum is that it is pretty 3rd world. The locuturios also tend to be a good place to pick up regular or semi-pros. Had any luck with that in DR?
EZE :)
I haven't really tried to pick up a chica in an internet cafe EZE_Amante.
My modus operandi is usually to get a nice normal chica (not a puta) on the weekend when families are at the beach and then get in good with the parents and family so that I can get a hot meal as well as some hot ass.
Don't get me wrong I love the massage and BBBJ places that abound in DR, but I love to hook up with a normal semi pro chica for a real PSE.
This has happened to me only twice in my many travels (receiving a PSE) but I always get the GFE when I am in DR.

I know RTFF! But what is the deal with the carwashes? This refer comes up fairly frequently, and it's not like every chica in the DR HAS a car to wash... I guess they go to look for players with rides there?... I've haunted some strange places, but never a car wash. It sounds like a bad (redundent I know) porn script.
THAT is strange.
Hello Everyone,
I have been reading your forum for a few weeks and have found it very informative for that i thank you, but like a newbie I still have questions that most likely have been answered before. First what is a "monger"? is it short for *****monger. Secondly I decided to go on my first visit to DR Aug 12-17. I will be staying at blackbeards and i have a few questions. What are the going rates in DR in pesos and US dollars? Do i have to worry about not speaking spanish? Is the resort safe for my personal belongings ie passport / laptop? what is the going exchange rate for the dollar? Where can I find the best exchange rates? What should i especially look out for in terms of safety? Any recommended places i should visit? How should i pay for most things ie dollar/peso? What type of crop will find at BB? Do you thinks he dates of travel will cause a problem? Finally what is the average tip in pesos? Thanks in advance for your help guys and any other recommendations you have will be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Big sexx

My experience is if you have a car then that indicates that you have means.

If you want to make the most of your visit its best to go through as many of the posts as possible the more information you arm yourself with the better the time you will have there.
I spent a week going through all of the posts to get a feel for the place and there is still a lot of useful information contained on this board. Compared to many other countries the DR has some of the best information for a monger to use.

Wanderlust,
Agreed- reading ALL the posts even as far back as a year ago would be helpful. Of course, all the girls have changed and many have "cum" and gone and there are now new ones. But from the posts I've read so far - the quality is better in SD, and Santiago - whereas the value (low cost) is found in Boca Chica and Sosua.
That is the reason I plan to hit three of those places in Sept. Every place but Boca Chica, I want a bit more quality this time around. Yet, even in many of these places, there is always a hidden "gem" and you could hit the jackpot.

WSJ3 is correct. Jimmy is right on the money. He does not lie and tells it like it is. Always current information.
I lurked for many month's gathering information. Then I went down to DR. I like it alot more than Brazil. I used to live in Brazil but Sousa/Cabarete suits me better. To each his own.
The stories he tells are real. Anytime you want to know something just ask. The Sosua guys are very friendly and love to help others. We take care of each other. Great place, great people.

I make it a point to always seek him out several times while I am there. Although considered a Sosua local I learn something from him everytime we talk. The man is straight up.
The people I really watch out for in Sosua are the ex-pat's. Be very careful of them. The guys from this site and Jimmy's are great.
I will not mention Jimmy's site out of respect for Jackson. But you can always PM and find it. It is the ultimate Sosua site. Jackson's is the ultimate World site.

I just returned from 3 weeks Dominican Republic. But I can't agree with you that the Dominican is a better place than Brazil. I also lived in Brazil. In my opinion Brazil is a FAR better place than the Dominican Republic. For mongering, for non-regular girls, for the people, for costs of living. The people I met in the Dominican Republic were very nice as long as they thought they could get/ earn something from you. So, a lot of fake friendliness. I didn't notice this much in Brazil. But like you say: everybody has his own preferred choice.

I have been to DR once a month this whole year. I usually hang out in Santo Domingo. I have been to Sosua twice. I will start to hang in the North. I like the people in DR, but it's hard to find someone you can trust. I have meet a few people that are trust worthy and will keep them as friends. I will not be going in August. August is too busy for me. I will be in Sosua in Sept.
Superion brings up some good points. While the DR is not perfect it is very good. I`ve never experienced any crime whatsoever. And the girls are nice. They are all pretty hot in bed and we`re talking about 25 dollars average, and many times less than that. The people are helpful, and sure they want some money but we`re talking about 2 dollars. And there are girls just walking around , many to choose from. And hotels with AC for 35 a night. DR is great.

The way Superion writes is agressive and insulting. We do not need to flame others and calling things "bullshit". Everybody has the right to express his own view. I personally prefer Brazil and Argentina but the DR has his own merits. I got cheated in Kenia by an individual but why call all Kenians liars? Also why call other people´s opinion bullshit? That is unfair and intollerant.

There are alot of reports in DR1 and Hoy about the increasing frequency and duration of the power outages in the DR. Anyone on the ground have any information as to how much the hotels and restaurants are being affected, and have there been protests in any of the tourist areas?
FYI, this is one of the stories from DR1:
"Darkness envelops the nation
The Dominican Republic does not have enough electricity to carry out the most mundane activities. The front-page photograph of the Finance Commission of the Chamber of Deputies deliberating the recently submitted tax reform package in semi-darkness speaks louder than the biggest headlines. El Caribe says there is barely 600MW of power being supplied to the national grid – 1,000 MW short of the estimated demand. Every possible activity in the country is being affected by the breakdown of the system, purely for economic reasons. Industry, commerce, education, legislation, transportation and most every facet of daily life are all interrupted by the continual blackouts. Fifteen-hour power outages, often continuous, are becoming the norm. In Santiago de los Caballeros, in the heart of the Cibao Valley, the situation reached unprecedented levels and the Chamber of Commerce called for immediate government action. Bloody protests marked the afternoon and evening in the more populous neighborhoods of Santiago, Moca and Santo Domingo. In Santiago, the area of “Los Ciruelitos” – always a hotspot – became a virtual war zone with police and protesters exchanging shots for most of the afternoon and evening hours. The disturbance saw several people wounded and dozens of arrests, according to La Informacion out of Santiago. In Santo Domingo and Santiago, the standby electric generators are also giving up the ghost. In the capital city, the generator at Plaza Lincoln broke down after putting in months of 15-hour days. Similar occurrences happened at Plaza Central and at Campus A of the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), and residents near the Pathology Institute are complaining of very disturbing odors that appear to emanate from the building. In Santiago, the two generators at one of the most exclusive addresses in the city have also broken down from overuse."
I hope the violence does not spread.
EZE
I just flew into new york wed morning but had been in santo domingo the last 3 weeks. In over 5 years and 60 trips, plus living there for 2 years. . ..this is the worst it has been. The problem is the "old" administration which is still in power owes a LOT of money to power companies. They did everything they could to keep the lights on BEFORE the elections.
Once they lost, they could care less etc. The new administration does not get into office till mid august. Hopefully Fernandez will make this top priority.
I saw the lights go out at the Acropolis mall twice last week. That is probably the most upscale mall in SD. Most hotels are doing OK but these generators are not used to running 15 hours per day etc. Plus many times there is a shortage of diesel fuel to run the generators!
I didn't see any violent protests in SD even though I went into less than "nice" neighborhoods such as Los Minas, Villa Juana, and Christo Rey.
I did have a guy on a scooter grab my camcorder and try and steal it while riding by. I had a good grip and almost pulled him off the scooter.
I think in some cases chicas may be more willing to spend the night with you as the odds of them having lights etc at home are slim to none.

Thanks for the info Prtyr2.
I don't arrive until Labor Day weekend, so I'm hoping the situation doesn't deteriorate over the next month. When does Fernandez assume power? Hospitals, schools, and government offices without electricity tends to make any populace angry. In another article, it mentioned even the National Hurricane Center was without power. That is a little scary this time of year.
Oh well, I'll take my chances anyway. Neither wind nor blackout will keep me from my appointed rounds with the chicas.

I think the inauguration (SP?) is Aug 16? I'm hoping that week is party time cause i arrive in SD 8/18.Viva luce!
It is not an issue here in LRM. The town is quite dark at night, but there is electricity even with most street lights being out.
I was at El Deseo, the chica club, and with A/C and loud music going they had outages of say 5 seconds about every 1/2 hour. After maybe 1 hour they seemed to cut the A/C, or cut it back. It wasn't so warm, but warmer than I like it.
At my hotel in Bayahibe, and for that matter everywhere there, I never once saw electricity go out. And I can't believe they are using a generator at this tiny place, nor even in this tiny beach town.

I posted this under Santo Domingo but I think it's better served under General Info. To all Tri- State members just noticed this morning that JetBlue has $69 each way to DR (Santiago or Santo Domingo). Seems like a great deal for all those looking to make a trip to DR.
Hope it helps

JetBlue,
While there are "specials" on JetBue for $69 - most of those fares are for "red-eye flights" and other "unusual times of the night and/or morning." So if cost is your thing, then go with JetBlue - otherwise, both Delta and American have good fares to SD and STI (Santiago) for the $250-270 range. These are great fares compared to earlier in the year.

August 12, 2004 - Reuters:
The entire Dominican Republic was blacked out yesterday, a fact that again made front-page news in all the papers. At 3pm yesterday, all formal electricity service ceased to flow across the entire nation. According to Superintendent of Electricity George Reinoso, the system was still recovering from the previous two blackouts that had occurred the day before. Reinoso said the few generators that were online at the time contributed to the general blackout, as operators had not been able stabilize the power grid.
........ Leonel Fernandez and his new cabinet take office this Monday, August 16th. Let's hope his Administration can at least stabilize the economic situation. The currency seems to have stabilized, but the power crisis is like nothing this country has ever had to experience in its history.

Hi
I am thinking about a trip to SD in january and I would like some information about renting an apartment for about a month.
Is it possible and what is the normal rate for a one room apartment, or a one bedroom apartment?
How would I go about renting an apartment there? My spanish is very limited and I am not sure if it would be a problem.
Is there anybody going there in january that I could hook up with?
Any and all information about this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advace.

Just a heads up to people looking into flying to Santo Domingo.
Spirit Airlines has announced new service to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from 8 cities. Their flights don't start until November 18, but if you book by September 8 you can take advantage of their introductory fares which start at $59 each way ($118 roundtrip).
Intro Fares to Santo Domingo from:
Fort Lauderdale ... $59 each way
Atlantic City ... $89 each way
Chicago ... $89 each way
Detroit ... $89 each way
New York ... $89 each way
Providence ... $89 each way
Washington D.C. ... $89 each way
Cancun ... $89 each way
These seemed like good prices to me. Plus taxes on these fares, of course.

And boys, if you got the miles, the AA Milesaavers is an amazing deal. I just traded 25000 miles for a trip to RD, and it cost me 82.50 total. Free trip baby!
The spirit price does NOT include taxes, so get ready for that. AA is matching the price from ORD, and it costs about $315 US total.

Are there any cheap flights from Punta Cana or La Romana to POP or Cabarete. If not, what is the best bus service to Santo Domingo. From there, I would take Caribe Tours to POP.
I heard they are about 2,000-3,000 pesos. Flights from Punta Cana to POP that is.
Caribe Tours is best value wise.

I went to a casa over the weekend and to my amazement there was a “Gringo” there with some pictures in hand looking for some chicas that he would like to take out. I was curios so I went over to the guy and asked him where he got those pictures since those chicas were hot.
He tells me over the internet on some sites where men that travel over the world to have sex post these pictures so other men can find the chicas. He told me some websites and of course he mentions WSGFORUM.
I was like OMG.
And the best part he was telling the chicas this and the owners. I heard them later speaking in Spanish (the owners) considering what to do. One thing they did do was not bring the price down to the fellow he paid $4,000 for a 1 hour section in house with a chica that looked like one from the pictures he had.
I don’t mind posting pictures here but please don’t let your little man get in the way of your brain. If you walk in with pictures in hand they have you by the balls since they know:
1) You are a newbie and they might scam you.
2) They will over charge you since they have what you want and think that you will pay what ever for it.
3) The chicas will start to get mad and won’t let you take pictures any more. I have been through that already. I know you may think they will be happy cause this may bring her more action, but most of the chicas will not like it since they think there picture will be blasted all over the net.
I just think that the pictures are more of a graphical presentation of the action but the written info is more important. If you liked that picture of a chica try real hard to remember it and go to the casa, try to find her and don’t over pay.
As a local it’s really does not affect me directly cause no matter what the “Gringo Price “ is, I never pay that, but it hurts the other guys that come down.
Ps. here is the chica I had that night. TLN for only 2,500 with tips included.

Thanks for your post and its not the first time I have heard that other lesser web sites download “Our” photos that we share with fellow mongers and post them on their pay sites claiming them to be their own.
I actually met one girl earlier this year in the Philippines who told me a story that someone had once taken her photo posted it on various sex sites under various names and dating sites run by scammers which caused her many problems because unfortunately some idiot, who didn’t know any better, reads this bogus information believing that he really can meet and score with these girls on such sites and naturally she was virtually paranoid about any photos being taken, only with me in them as well fully clothed.
So all please take my advice and put your names on the photos it won’t stop the determined scammers but its help.

This is a good reminder of the mental deficiencies in some of the people that visit this fine website. Unfortunately, I don't think that the "distinguished gentleman" that ran around with those photos will learn. His actions are less than smart in a multiplexity of ways.

Maybe this is a time to revisit the idea that only photo contributing members can view the photo galleries. This would weed out the lurkers, and actually narrow down the list of offenders should a problem arise.
Draconian, I realize, but it seems like the problems are getting more numerous as of late. which might coincide with the more liberal admission policies here.
RW
Yeah, that would be good. Only guys who contribute can view, but what about those guys who just want to see what they are getting themselves into when booking there very first trip to DR?
There is always someone in the bunch to ruin things to some degree. One time, I had a chica about every couple of days confront me about pics I have taken that they have seen on the internet or were told about from someone here or there.
Sorry, I took the pic, but a lot of people get involved with the film developing process and that is out of my control, etc....is the best way to approach it.
MISTER NYC :D
It is very unfortunate about what happened that I do agree. But thanks to the great photography that my fellow mongers have taken, has allowed me to plan for my future trips. I would have never considered coming to the Dominican Republic, but thanks to your fantastics pictures and great posts of how cool the girls are, I will be traveling down there in November. "By the way gentlemen please be safe down there with all the storms and crazy weather."
............I don't think (if I could help it) I'd want to be anywhere in the DR during a hurricane or tropical storm. Campo Cabarete must now be Lago Cabarete. :(
we had the pleasure of being at blackbeards for hurricane jeanne. it was a real experience. the place really did tie everything down and the town shut down. we found a great bar/club thanks ot ian the guide that is posted here. he saved our asses. we were able to find two great ladies to hold off the storm with.
it was amazing he lives near blackbeards and worked there for a period of time. i do believe that he knows evey single girl in puerto plata!!
it was raining like hell and blowing like in a desert storm and as we arrived back to blackbeards it was 1:30 a.m. the damn guard tried, and i mean tried, to not allow one of the girls we had in cause she didn't have her i.d. card.
i had to explain to him that there was no chance in hell that i was not getting into my room without her. my buddy finally told him to fuck-off and call the police. he then said that it was ok.
guess before you bring a girl back to your room during a hurricane you had better check her credentials!!
we had ian work for us as a guide/taxi for our entire stay in puerto plata/sosua. he can be reached at 809-963-7605.
we stayed at the palace two nights, went to blackbeards for two nights and then returned to the palace for three nights. i will post my experience's in the right city threads.

Gpiper,
Good point. Perhaps if we just keep it out of reach for non senior members? Or is that how it is now?
The problem is that once a photo is posted, even tho this is a "private club" , we cannot police the usage by others. Of course, not posting would eliminate that problem..but it is a valuable resource for those who use it in the spirit it was intended.
Hmm, I need to rethink this one.
AFTER my trip.
It was most recently in the 34-35 range.
Keep in mind that even though prices have doubled since the peso hit a 54 range high earlier this year and now it is back down to where it was over a year ago, history should repeat itself.
We should see a climb by year end.
MISTER NYC :D
Beware of the exchange rate.
The peso is climbing so take that into consideration when paying for a chica, rule of thumb never pay more than 100US for TLN and no more that 50US for 1 hour in house with 2 nuts.
That is with tip included.
Thank You
There is a new sildenafil citrate generic V sold here in DR for only $75 pesos a tab.
Cheaper Hardons LOL
Hi Mister,
Is your 28.50 to 1 figure what you're experiencing first-hand? In other words, are you "in country" and are being offered that rate at exchange houses today?
The reason I ask is that I use two separate (web based) currency converter services that have been "dead-on" in the past, and I'm getting figures of 33.50 RDP to 1 USD and 33.25RDP to 1 USD today (9/30/2004)
28.50 to 1 sounds low to me.
FORD
Jazzy Daddy
10-01-04, 22:17
I'm concerned too about the rise. I'll be there is SD on 10/21 and my source for today is 28.50.
Exchange rates...
When talking about FX, you have to consider what you get on the street and what you get in the market.
The peso is about 31.50 to 1 USD on the street (local banks in DR, change houses, etc.) and in the FX market, it is around 28 to 1.
It's simple...the local DR places are taking advantage of the low official market rate by offering better prices for the dollar to attract more.
MISTER NYC :D
Gentlemen,
Just a few notes that may be of interest to some of you:
The D.R. need$ help right now due to the devastating 2004 hurricane season. Don't be shy about $ending and $pending $ome much needed U$ dollar$.
Check out a very nice TV show called "Santo Domingo Invita". It is very informative about everything Dominican and it is fun to watch. You can catch it in NYC on channel 47 Telemundo on Sunday mornings 10AM.
And... check out !Caliente! on Univision (channel 41 in NYC) Saturdays at 2PM. The dancers are indeed very caliente (hot!) in this little weekly musical. If you are home alone have your favorite motion lotion ready. You might just need it >;-)
Mister,
My college finance professor would be disappointed in me if I didn't understand that there is a substantive difference between the bid and ask prices offered on the FX for a currency versus the anecdotal evidence of what exchange rate is actually being offered on the "street".;)
The FX is, of course, primarily influenced by market forces (supply v. demand) where as the street exchange price can be influenced more by emotions and other extraneous factors (good or bad).
This is why I will continue to maintain, that if you are getting the 28.50 to 1 exchange price from reliable sources, on the street, then I'll believe you, but at this price I will say again "the RDP may well be MORE overpriced at this level than it ever has been in history!"
I, por ejemplo, wouldn't want to buy pesos at these prices!
I think you and I are arguing different sides of the same coin - I agree, a collapse from these levels seems very possible.
Cheers,
FORD :)

FORD,
I got back from the Jaragua yesterday morning and it was 28:1 all 4 days I was there. The drop down from around 34 occurred about last Wednesday. However when you bought something off their menu listed in US Dollars they always converted the bill into pesos at 33:1.
We did go to that pit Bocachica for a few hours on Sunday and the cambios there were converting at around the 33:1 range. I also used a cambio in SD which listed 28:1 but when I said I want 30:1, it was no problem.

Money had dropped from 34 when I arrived Monday pm 9/27 to 27.5 on Thursday am 9/30 , which was causing a good deal of consternation among the expats in Boca Chica. Fortunately (for them) it climbed back to 33 on Saturday. I was thinking it might hit 25 while I was there. The worry was that there was no good reason for the sudden changes, and that buying back dollars would become difficult. One could be standing in line in the bank and lose a lot of money with a quick rate drop like that. I lost a 1/2 point as I stepped into a cambio on Tuesday am.
Slick,
If the restaurants were using US prices, and billing at 33rd when the rate was 28rd , you got screwed on prices.
New to this board.

I was looking at the 3 month currency exchange history on the oanda web site, and the exchange rate took a nosedive the week I was there, but has since rebounded a bit. They must have known I was coming.:)

I booked a flight arriving SDO at 3 am. I'm wondering what to do on arrival. Any suggestions on where to pass some quality time?
I plan to stay in Santo Domingo for four days.

Hi guys,
Need some help. Plannig a trip somtime before the end of the year. Where can one find intercity & intracity driving directions for the DR. I am thinking about somthing like santiago to Puerto Puerto Plata and also somthing like Puerto Plata to say Sosua.
Any help will be appreciated.
d life,
first, get a map from the rental agency. avis car rental has the best maps. buy several different maps. most maps seemed out dated. for intercity driving have a local person show you around. the inercity street signs sometimes leads to no way.
the highways are very easy to navigate and the speed limit is unheard of. just becareful when you are driving because most motorist in dr do not follow the rules of the road and locals dart aross the highway. it's very easy to drive from santiago to puerto plata. there are short cuts also, but drive the long way first.
remember, when you are driving and you come to a fork in the road with no directional sign; stop and ask for directions it will save you a lot of time and there are a lot of forks in the inercities.

It is a short drive from Santiago to Puerto Plata or Sosua. The bus ride from SD to Santiago is only a little more than two hours. The Metro or Caribe bus are well worth the $5.00 is costs to get there. Its finding the right taxi without getting ripped off that is the "trick." If you ask a local to call "his" cab company, you will save at least half the fare. A normal ride of $100 RD is usually charged 200-300 pesos, especially at any of the hotels. NEVER use any hotel taxi.
Once you get the name of a "reliable and fair guy, get his card and call him all the time - he will take care of you since you give him repeat business. Its especially cool when you are taking home a chica to your hotel - the taxi guys are "blind" to everything. All they want is your money, just like everyone else.

In santo domingo I always call one of the "radio" taxi companies if possible. They have standard rates and will call in on the radio to get the rate. No gringo rate etc.
The hotel taxis and guys that wait outside of discos etc, will try and charge triple etc. If they quote 300 pesos for a 100 peso fare I laugh, pull out my cell phone and say I am calling taxi Lino. . . . .many times they agree to my price or at least get in the ballpark..
They get mad about it and spend the entire trip telling me why they need to charge more than the radio cabs:
1-radio cabs are natural gas and don't need expensive gasoline
2-radio cabs are running around all day and get a bunch of fares while the hotel guys have to wait in line till it is their turn etc
I say. . . . .so what! I could care less if the car is powered on [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) if it is a 3rd the price. I ask them what cab would they take if they needed one. . . . .they all say the radio cabs!
So Taxi lino 687 3333 or 621 3000
aero taxi 688 0000 or 788 0000
I can't find the number for apollo taxi but these two should do it.
You just call and say "necessito un taxi" then give the address, the taxi is usually there in under 5 minutes

Just to add a few taxi companies numbers. I have used all of the following in the Capital(Santo Domingo).
Apolo Taxi 537-0000, 537-1245
Taxi Anacaona 537-2222, 530-4800
Santo Domingo Taxi 544-4444, 565-5555
Tropical Taxi 334-6868, 540-4446

Aero Taxi and Apolo taxi were the two that I used most often. But since I stayed at the Jaragua (and in previous posts, ONLY girl-friendly if you give them a name WHEN you check-in) I was able to WALK to three or four Casas, and two or three clubs. The 52 Casa was the best value and had decent 6's and 7's. The Elegant Center had a nice selection but they quoted 3000 pesos and I said, I may look asian, but I'm NO GRINGO! I have been in DR many times and am Norte Americano, etc. They dropped their price to 2000 pesos but I opted to look further. I went to Michelle Spa and there were 7-8 to choose from, but only one that I would do. Once again, the high pitch sale of 3000 pesos and so I opted to go back to Casa 52.
I walked the entire loop from one casa to another and got some great exercise - and was ready for for a fine chica. Entered Casa 52, a bit dim in lighting, but it was like that in the entire place.
I selected "Karina" - 8 in face, 7 in body (wide hips and a tight ass) 6 in ability. She was a bit mechanical, but everything was on the menu. She gave a cbj, we hit multiple positions and finished doggie. She took the pounding well - we both showered in a small shower area, however, the A/C was blasting. I guess because the room on the 1st floor was HUGE, with the bed in one corner and the massage table on another wall. High ceilings, and had an airy feel to the place. Clean, acceptable, and the choice of chicas was very good.
Thanks guys for the good advice. I will try them all. I really appreciate it.

I did check out the prices, only 150 USD more on airfair, about 449 to 1USD, 25000 to 30000 CRD= 67USD. The Peso at current rates is unacceptable, and yes I want it above 40.

You know its sad to say but RearWindow you're correct - even though the "DR" is getting more expensive it still may be the best value for fun - that's within 3 hours of the U.S.
Costa Rica is the worst kept secret in the Western Hemisphere - getting real pricey!
Norm - if you're set on going to San Jose however, I pm'd you con consejo! (advice) ;)

If I can only escape to the Dominican Republic for about 3 days what city should I visit. I speak no spanish so ease and also safety are most important. I am very informed about the area because of the boards, however because of my limited schedule I need to be in out of the country pretty quick, however I want to make the most of the trip.
Thanks is advanced for my future 1st time trip to paradise.
Hi Baltimonger,
You're right, the prices for flights are still cheap - JFK to POP or SDQ is still a bargain right thru the winter.
I think the concern people have about prices starts once you "hit" the ground. (lol)
Ford and others,
Just don't follow my lead. Negotiate hard.
Hotels, taxis, and chicas who quote US$ prices instead of RD$ help keep your costs down. That's the one good thing about the plummeting exchange rate. The rest is just a premium on food, drinks, and ambiance, I think it all evens out in the long run.
Of course, you could have the problem I have: Go to the DR for a week, come back and find out your boss has docked you a week's pay. That really hurts!
There was a difference in exchange rates between the Western Union in Boca Chica and Las Americas Airport of 6.5 pesos my last day in the DR (Oct. 4).
I picked up a SW in Baltimore the other night who asked me how my DR trip was. Another monger had told her about it, and asked her if I was back yet. I'm famous.:D
Hey amigos,
Do I need a passport if I'm an American Citizen to enter DR? The state Dept. says no, but I rather hear it from one of you who have recently been through the process.
Thanks,

........ouch! Yeah, that would suck! :(
(It sounds like your boss is in need of a week in Boca Chica or Sosua)
northbound -
If you only have time for a short 3 or 4 day trip, I think you should consider sticking to the northcoast and stay in the Sosua/Cabarete area.
If you make reservations at a place like the Sosua Palace, the owner is a great guy and will be happy to give you the 5 cent tour of the area and the town. Also, there is usually a friendly group of "players" in house that will be happy to show you the ropes.
The fact that you don't speak Spanish however, is always going to be an issue when negotiating with the chicas anywhere in the country.
Cheers.
To Northbound,
Sosua would be your best bet. Everything is on one street, Pedro Clisante, and within walking distance. In Puerto Plata or parts of Santo Domingo you'll need to take taxis or motoconchos (dirtbikes that the natives use to transport tourists). Sosua is like the village in New York City where everything is next to each other. When you arrive at the Palace ask John if anyone of the people staying at the palace speak spanish. If so find out if you can hang with them. Most of the tourists who stay at the palace do not speak english but do just fine meeting the girls. As long as you know that the average rate is RD1500 for short term and overnight RD 3000 then you'll do okay. You can even find short term for RD 1000. I've met guys who have only a small understanding of spanish but can still negotiate. Also ,ask the girls if they speak english. John can even translate for you if you deal with one of the girls at the palace.
Northbound,
You can also try Blackbeards, in Puerto Plata. The chicas are on site and the prices are fixed at RD 1500 for short term and overnight at RD 3000. Also, the management there speak both enblish and spanish and two or three girls are bilingual. The management also has a book listing all the girls they have and what they do or do not do. You can ask to look at the book (I've seen the book myself!) and choose a girl. The management can interpret for you. The only problem with Blackbeards is that it is not technically in Puerto Plata but outside of it on Costambar. If you want to go to Puerto Plata you need to take a cab and to get around you need a cab. Blackbeards has a bar, they serve food, and about 30 girls who appear on site every so often throughout the day. For such a short time and for simplicity this might be your best bet. If you have further questions you can PM me.

Thanks for the help.
One more thing. How much $$ do you guys usually walk around with, I probably would not keep anything in the hotel..So are there lots of atm's around.
Also when you start negotiating with girls do you feel the quality of the service goes down?
If I make down there I will give a my first time experience report to the board. Maybe even some photo's if I can.
Thanks again, and if you ever find yourselfs in the southeast of florida I'll be glad to help.
Expat,
I just went there without a passport Sept. 28 to Oct. 4. It slows you up a little going through immigration, but not that big of a hassle. They take you into another room, take your picture, use your driver's license number as a control number they feed into a computer, and return you back to the immigration line where they stamp your birth certificate.
All things considered, I think a passport would have been better to have. The irony is that I work at a place that processes passports, but never thought about getting one before.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I have been through the entire DR portion of the site. City by City. WSG provides great detail which is much appreciated.
But I still have some questions and could really use some answers. The only mongering I have to compare against was my trip to st. maartin last year. I had a FANTASTIC time there that I don't think can be matched, but I'm going to try :)
I am 99% sure that I will be staying in punta cana b/c that is where my friend has a time share. it looks as if my options if i stay in pc are limited to traveling to bavaro and hiruengo (sp?) which i am not sure if that would be more costly than just staying closer to the action. do you agree?
I am still not sure, after reading everyone's posts, whether this is a smart move since i will be focused on relaxing mostly, but also mongering daily. should i just abandon the all-inclusive deal i have at my buddy's place which will average, with food included, @$90US per day to stay in SD instead? I could really use some help here. i am a single, 32yo male traveling solo (woohoo!). Please help me out by answering my questions below and adding in any advice you have for me. i need your help with this decision which is primarily safety, cost and comfort based.
Bottom line: From a daily $$$ perspective, i am trying to compare option (A): The cost of this all-incl punta cana hotel ($90US per day hwich includes three meals) plus mongering travel (taxi each way to 'meet and greet' girls if i stay in Punta cana) and 'enjoyment costs' (fees, cover charges, etc.) with option (B): Any alternative to Punta Cana you can tell me about where i might find a safe, quality guest friendly hotel (pls. suggest 2-3 hotel names and approx. daily prices) in SD or elsewhere in DR with lower girl 'meet and greet' costs (i.e., not the actual fee, but also transportation and accomodation costs.....Are there safe, guest friendly places i could consider WALKING to from a hotel that meets the safe and clean and girl friendly criteria that is also close enough to a beautiful beach? I may be asking for to much, but any help you can provide is really appreciated.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

You can say that again. Methinks he has a white cane and a guide dog (with some DR girls not so bad an affliction really) , even then you can have the pages read to you by computer so I suspect the lure of a cheap stay in a dumb town is overruling a low cost stay in a town where you can actually do something.
Punta Cana - What a total time-wating destination, and frankly, Bretzky, for the first time Santo Domingo is not the best choice either. For low cost high volume first time mongering go to Boca Chica, you won't need $90 a day for room, food and drink even with the horrible peso currently.
The only thing holding me back from going to DR is the fact that I don't know how to speak spanish. Is this really a problem or should I go anyway? If I do go where is the best place to go for a fat white guy with no spanish go?
I usually go to Jamaica and have no problems there but need a change, everyone knows me there now.

Is there any mongering action in this town or area?

I read internet webpages of local newspapers almost daily. For what I read crime has grew a lot in the recent weeks. I read articles about murders, at least five daily, in average. Lots of robbery, bank and stores assaults across the country. My girlfriend get robbed near el Conde yesterday, at noon. A country that looks for safe for me in recent times now looks like a dangerous place.

I thought the Dominican Republic was a high crime area in any case. Its probably full of desperate people. Yet Ive known people who have gone there, and none were attacked. Yet, a good friend of mine was robbed and beaten at a train station in Connecticut. Go figure.

It is a bit of a gamble with roaming to say nothing of costing a mint.
Buy an Orange or Verizon/Codetel phone and use calling cards - they are available new as cheap as RD$600-900, and the cards start at RD$100. You will have the advantage of a local # the chicas can call as well and when the card runs out you still receive calls for free. If you are a frequent visitor they hold the number for the 50-70 days a card is good for plus at least 90 on top of that so a trip every 5 or 6 months you should be OK.
You can get a phone from the US but you need to make sure that it is not locked into a network and that it accepts a sim card. Once in DR you just go to a phone store and have them change the chip to an orange chip (make sure that the guy gives you back your original chip). All Nokia phones are good for this. Also, European phones are easier to use in the DR because they are not locked. You can buy phones to use in the DR on ebay. Also, there is the issue of the roaming charges for phones that use US service but from what I hear as more and more international service is being introduced the price should go down but this will be a while. I've talked to many workers on the job and the international service is becoming more of an option. I talked to John at Blackbeards about the phones and he said that it would be very expensive to install and the pbx system is a pain in the ass.
Thanks for the info guys, hey do any of you guys know if there is a hotel like Black Beards in the Santo Domingo area? I live in Puerto Rico and for some reason its cheeper for me to fly to Santo Domingo (120 to 200 bucks round trip) than it is for me to fly to Puerto Plata (300 cheapest i could find). What hotels do you recomend? and what are the premo spots for mongering? be it economical and quality.
Boy, it seems like a million years ago (but it was only 4 months) when on July 6th I recieved an exchange rate of 53rdp to 1usd in a casa de cambio on Ave Tiradentes in Santo Domingo.
Now (11/12) the RD Peso has dropped below 30 to 1 and continues to fall. Incredibly, the DR1 reported yesterday that steps are now being taken by the government to try to artificially "deflate" the strentgh of the dollar because of a sudden shortage of pesos in circulation! Did you ever believe you'd live to see the day?
I think the govenrment is correct to get involved - if the peso if permitted to sink to a level of 20-22 to 1 it will kill tourism, and push us "hobbyists" to other countries in search of value.
Cheers,
FORD
Hey guy,
Me and 2 of my friends are going to the DR in March of 05. We are a little green on which hotels allow girls or have girls there. We are looking at staying at a 3 or 4 star place if possible. Also, we will be renting a car while we are there and was wondering how is the driving scene down there? WE are from the Virgin Islands so we are familiar with narrow roads, just need to know how crazy the drivers are. :) Would like to know where most of the sexiest chicks are so we don't have to be chasing back and forth for the pussy.
Any help is very much welcomed.

You might want to narrow it down a bit in your question to other than the entire country. There are not many 4 star places that are guest friendly other than the Jaragua and certainly non of the all inclusive resorts are period.
We want to be Santo Domingo. To be honest, I really don't care what hotel we stay at, as long as there is running water and its pretty clean. My friends are the ones who are particular, but can be talked out of that. As long asI am near the beach I will be cool. :)
Thanks again.
Jah Cool,
Driving - Don't do it if you don't have too. It's pretty cheap to hire a car, diver or taxi to take you wherever you want to go and you don't have to worry about those CRAZY Dominican Drivers. I have been all over the world including asia, europe & other latin american countries, and Dominicans take the prize for the WORST drivers. If you are only there for 3 or 4 days, you can easily hire a taxi by the hour/day or evening and you can relax & enjoy the scene.
If you want a quality experience for your group, try Blackbeards Adult Resort http://www.blackbeardsadultresort.com near Puerto Plata although not 4 star they are quite good by DR standards and your group will be guranteed a good time.

GROSSLY overpriced girls for the convenience of them coming around there. For newbies a good place to start but you'd tire of paying double in short order I think. Nice hotel though. And since "Jah Cool" is going to the capital a touch of a long commute.
If you come from Holland and use a "T-Mobile" card with international access you might be out of luck, it seems like it does not work (well at least not in puerto plata or in punta cana).
However if you have an "Orange" card, then it should work. This network pops up in the network search everywhere and it's available in europe too.
Alternative buy a 100 peso calling card and use it instead.
Note if you call holland the procedure for a calling card is:

[Calling card secret code]
{some jabadabadoo in spanish on how much the account is}
[011] = to indicate that it is not the DR or the States
[31] = Holland
[123456789] = number without the [0] Else it will not work.
Hey,
Anyone see Miss Dominican Republic in Miss World? She came second (that wouldn't happen if she was with me ;-) She was dark-skinned Latino, looked over 6 feet tall and was drop dead gorgeous.
Hey Jimmy,
Why don't you get her down to the Palace? ;-)
It appears that, thanks to the aggressive measures taken by the Fernandez government and the owners of the "all-inclusives" to counteract the soaring price of the RD Peso - the value of the RDP has plummeted from 26 rdp to 1 usd one month ago to a price of ONLY 27.5 rdp to 1 usd today! (LOL) ;)
You just can't fight capitalist markets or the inevitable re-patriotization of dollars back into the DR due to the holidays. (It burns us every year around this time - check the charts) Too many factors working against us!
Things just gotta" improve by the spring!
Cheers.
Try to take several bank cards/credit cards with you to the DR (or whatever country you go. It will help a lot if you need more money than the skimpy 5000 pesos you get from the atm machine at a time. This amount varies by the way depending what they have in stock. So if you need it on the last day you could be in a surprise.
Tip 1: You can do another withdrawal on the same ATM, I could untill the limit of 15K.
Tip 2: It is possible to withdraw some extra with the same card from another ATM at the same day, but seems limited.
Tip 3: Make sure you have several cards at hand to raise your withdrawal limits. This is cheaper than having to go back with a taxi with another card.
Tip 4: Never ever trust on one Credit Card or one Bank Card, make sure you have at least 2 from both and from different banks/companies.
Tip 5: Especially for Europeans, use the ATM, Changing from Euro to Dollar to Peso, will need a heck of a good rate to cope with the unwanted double charges. And keep in mind that a credit card is not ment for cash withdrawal, you will get a nice extra charge for that too.
Tip 6: Allthough allmost everything can be done in USD, it is advisable (cheaper) to get at least 5k peso as soon as you are in the country, the cabby will now a working ATM.
Tip 7: If you plan to come back smuggle (its not allowed) some cash out for the next time, it is convenient on the airport when you return and need some tips.
Tip 8: If you buy dollars in Holland from GWK you will get a voucer for returning the dollars to a period to the same rate and without fee! With the dollar tapdancing around in respect to the euro this can be very handy.
Tip 9: Make sure you can stash the cash safe and do not walk in sight with a pocket book of cash. People overhere seem to make approx 2-3usd/100pesos a day!
For the dutchies, an ATM is a "pinautomaat or flappentap" and for the belgiums no an ATM is not a vibrator (pinnen=having sex). ;-))

However 611 works locally and works with the states.
The following is from the Toronto Sun. My understanding is that there are two more people in the U.S. with the same problem. I'm also told that if you take malaria pills you will be fine.
MALARIA FEARS have prompted Canadian Blood Services to bar donors from giving blood within six months of travelling to the Dominican Republic. A total of six Canadians -- four in Ontario and two in B.C. -- have fallen ill with malaria since visiting the resort area of Punta Cana and Playa Bavaro since October.
Two of the patients -- one in the Toronto-area and one in B.C. -- are "severely ill" and it's not yet known whether they'll make full recoveries, said Dr. Jean-Pierre Legault of the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Jonathan Carroll, president of itravel2000, said 400,000 Canadians visit the island annually and while the risk is low, he said unfounded fears could hurt the country's tourist trade
I'd avoid the place like I would a crack head in DR. It's distant and remote, but if that is your thing, go for it! You'd be better off in Sosua for a few days and then onto Santiago and the capital. Much better selection and quality!! If you must visit the place, take a day trip there to see what its like in real time.
Enjoy and bust some nuts for 2005!

If you want a quality experience for your group, try Blackbeards Adult Resort http://www.blackbeardsadultresort.com near Puerto Plata although not 4 star they are quite good by DR standards and your group will be guranteed a good time.

Hello Everyone!
When is the best time to go to DR, where there is less tourists & less distractions?!
Where is there more quality of woman?

I have never been to DR for mongering. I plan maybe going to Sousa. I want to know what I should expect to pay for FS for a short time vs. all night?
Where are the best places to find chicas? The clubs like Blackbeards, how is it inside? Is it like a go go bar? Thanks for any help there.
Hey,
So I have been to thailand once, never to India or Cuba or the DR.
I have an opportunity to spend 4-6 weeks in any of those areas in about a year and half.
I thought maybe I should save the DR and/or Cuba when I can only take a short trip (week or so) since by being base in Thailand I can hit Cambo, Laos and even India or vietnam.
Can anyone make a good case for changing my eval? Prices? Quality? Extras? Entertainment?
Please forgive my ignorance...I appreciate your comments.

Hurricane season can be a bit dry down there for action...storm season picks up the most around August to November I suppose. Someone correct me when if am wrong. Also the best time to go I would say would be during Semana Santa....week of the saints...April..holy week...whatever we gringos call the holiday...the beginning of April...Easter!
Lots of chics come from all over to Sosua to Party...some dimes!
Quality can be had just by walking around and saying hello. You have to get around to all the places...Puerto Plata, Sosua especially, the capital, Santiago, etc.

Prices vary from say $30USD to over $100USD for FS. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Add an incentive to the mix...the better she performs, the more you will donate...start low.
Sosua has action all around...on the beach, streets, at the bars, in the casino, etc. Why stay at Blackbeards? It's an ok place to visit in the day just to check it out, but its out of the way from all the action. It's no go go bar. Its a hotel with chicas on site that try to please you for donations. Looks nice inside and out, but again, far from the action.
Anyone else? Feel free to PM me or post here.
Have fun, play safe!

I have several questions. I plan on staying at Blackbeard’s but some of you guys keep on insisting on Sosua but I can’t find a guide on Sosua HELP?
Also say I want a DR chic to come to America to visit how hard is it to make it happen?
Finally I am a man who likes nice BIG brown round asses will I be disappointed like I was in Mexico(50% chance in Mexico that the pants are making her ass look nice and big).

Dear Play02,
The town of Costambar where Blackbeards is located 25 min west of Puerto Plata. The town is very nice, but remote for action. Blackbeards and El Principal are the only action there. Prices at Blackbeards are fixed at 1500st and 3000lt. El Principal 2000lt plus 500 Pesos Salida. Unlike Sosua, which you can walk from end to end, Costambar requires cab rides. I spent March,May and Aug at Blackbeards. In March I will be in Sosua, for a change of pace, lower prices and more action.
Play, to each his own and you have to decide what you like. Many of us like to be in the mix of the local scene and action. However, if you like your experience packaged for your convenience, then BB is for you. Everything is on site and you don't have to leave. Get up, eat on site, sit by the pool, chicas on-site at R$1500-$3000 (although I think they lowered the prices?), go right to your room, shower, sit at the bar, play pool, eat dinner.
On the other hand, in Sousa you never know where you are gonna score - stay at the palace, walk out on the street, go to the beach, Shark bar, rocky's, M&M massage, Passions - pussy everywhere and for varying prices. You can get what you want for R$500-$1000, just try. Just so many options in Sousa, that it seems like the best way to experience it. Or at least, spend 3 days at the Palace and then 3 at BB!
I was there same last week of nov 2004, just missed the bikini contest with 30min, but catched my plane, I did not bring the print out of the sticker price, but as far as I can remember it was 1300st/2600lt. Ok they seem to charge 4k for gfe/24h. However I paid 3k. Of course Peso
This seems to be quite steep though for the girls.
You will find a review of the place in the sosua and the puerto plata section.
I General, jup, they are more expensive, but i still did not mind paying that luxury tax and do like the tranquility of the place.
Will be back next year. However then i will also try yo be there last weekend of the month (Bikini party).
Oh and yeah there were some big bottomed girls too, but i prefer the slender ones and GFE, so can't tell you which one of those excelled.
Have Funn!
I can't get in from my office, so I may take a while to get back to you, Sorry!
I can't get in from my office, so I may take a while to get back to you, Sorry!
You should be in Sosua by the time you get this one too! See ya when I see ya. Hopefully not too many times though...LOL.
MISTER NYC :D
P.s. BB...why stay there? Comfort zone? what comfort zone? Most of you are heading into foreign land to begin with for the first time and leaving your comfort zone behind! If you really want to jump into the mix and real action, stay in Sosua at one of the monger friendly places and roam around and be pleasant. You will find many that you can just pick up and take back for a good time....guaranteed!

Yes, this is true, but keep in mind of the given currency exchange and government risks. There was once a finance house, like in DR, that was in business for years...close to 30 I think, that had billions of USD under management, and guess what...the brothers who ran the finance house disappeared and so did most of the money, if not all of it. If I am wrong on my finance history, please someone...correct me.
Finance houses will pay up to 14% in USD, but complete liquidity might be a issue...most of the clients I know live there and happily gave there cash portfolio over to this finance house in exchange for this 14% via a monthly income check...get my point? What happens if you need to withdraw $100,000+. These finance houses lend your money for real estate or businesses (loans/private mortgages) and charge the end client/the borrower up to 40%...the client and finance house split the profits. This is just one example of how your money is used. There are also indexed investment certificates in Pesos issued by the central bank of DR.
A good reputable bank in DR for a dollar or peso account is Banco Santa Cruz. You would normally need your passport, a letter of good account status from your bank at home, and your deposit to open a account.
Hope this proves to be useful to someone.

Read DR1 for insight - generally speaking you are getting paid for the risk. If I retired there I would not keep more than a few thousand for spending in a Dominican bank, period. Bad idea.
It is true. Most banks that offer the highest interest are usually fly by night banks. A lot of people end up losing all their money. I met up with some guys while on vacation last month and was told to try the National Bank. I think it is called Banreservas. I am not sure of the name. They do not offer the really high rates, but it is still better than in the US. One guy deposited about 40 grand, and is going on vacation to the DR every few of months on the interest alone. They offer interest but you have to have the interest deposited into another bank. Usually try to go for American owned banks. They are a lot more stable. To do all this you need to have a bank in the US to write you a letter of recomendation. Sorry that is all the info I have for now. If you would like more info just ask. I can always call my buddy and get all the info needed.
As reported in DR1 today:
Exchange rate helps government
Finance Minister Vicente Bengoa says that the government has met the requirements of the stand by arrangement with the International Monetary Fund despite the rising price of petroleum because of the appreciation of the peso. As reported in Hoy newspaper, he said that the exchange rate has been fluctuating between RD$28-RD$29 to the US$1, or about 100% less than it was eight months.......[he further remarked] that the government has a surplus in its finances compared to what had been estimated for the first quarter of the year. END ---
Guys, as you all know - immediately following the Fernandez election the peso exploded to a level of less than 30 to 1 versus the usd. This level was far less than what many of us enjoyed in mid-2004 when the rate was closer to 53 to 1.
Subsequently, a number of well meaning players on this board predicted that this price level "couldn't last for long", that "it was only a matter of time" before things returned to the way they were before. There was even a rumor floated out there that a large/influential group of AI owners had banned together and were petitioning the government to return the peso to its pre-election price because it was effectively "killing" tourism!
(None of this did a blessed thing)
At this point [imo] it seems that the Fernandez administration is quite content with the position of the national currency and is likely to exert the pressure necessary to insure that it continues to trade at current levels.
A strong peso helps ease the amount of national debt, presents a disciplined financial posture to the IMF, and helps offset the pressure from rising fuel costs.
Don't expect the peso to tank anytime soon if the current administration has anything to say about it. Patience and negotiating skill are going to be the keys to fun in the DR in 2005. ;)

I was reading the Sousa section and noticed something about New York Mongers paying sky high prices for pussy.
There is an Sex tour outfit called Domincan Pleasures with the top dog getting his customers from New York. $100 USD for pussy in DR. Shit might as well stay home right. Wrong.
Mexico is 11 to 1 exchange rate so perspective. The probelm is not the exchange rate but mongering dummies. Lets find a way to get the word out.
I will send an email to Charles the operator of Domican pleasures and notify him of this problem. He has a group in Sousa right now and another scheduled for April. PM if you want his email.

Hi Amber Wrath,
These pro-tours are nothing new they have been around for ever! As long as there are "players" out there who refuse to work on their Spanish, and don't care how much money they throw around on their two weeks off of work - these tour opertors will continue to make easy $$.
Pick up your old high school Spanish workbook for a couple of days and then spend a week in the country - and you'll quickly realize what a rip-off these [so called] professional tour groups are. ;)

Can someone recommend where I can find basic info on visiting DR (and Sosua) and some trip reports.
There are a lot of interactive posts on the forum nowadays, which is fine, but it is becoming more and more difficult for newbies to find basic info.
Maybe a question for Jackson, should there be a separate place for FAQ's and extensive trip reports, at least for the most popular destinations?
Thanks,
Jay
You will find countless trip reports on here, but once again, you just have to be motivated enough to seek and you will find what you are looking for. I remember spending many hours on here reading and writing down some notes to myself for my first dive into Paradise. It's definately worth it. Thank you everyone who contributes to this board.

Banco Reservas is a retail bank owned by the Central bank of the DR. If you have accounts or CD's there they pay you interest like any other bank, have ATM's and so forth, in your account with them not elsewhere.
You may be confusing the Central Bank short term notes with Banco Reservas.
The peso interest rates of before ( were near 60%) have fallen and the US interest rates are slightly better than at home. It or Banco Popular or Scotiabank (who took over the failed Baniter locations) are about the same. US banks are subsidiaries and not guaranteed by the US parent and as we saw in Argentina that doesn't always mean 100% safety. There are a lot fewer US banks if you are not in the capital but for decent service and rates, shop around, any of the big 3 are adequate.

I've recently put my paper work in for two weeks of vacation in May. I'm thinking DR is the place to go for the best action and mix of girls. My concern is where do I find the best mix of young phat Bonda and beautiful huge breast? And which town has the best mix of Dominican and Haitian Women? I haven't made any reservation as of yet. I'm waiting on some good replies. All information will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
I read in the newspaper that the DR government wants to put an end on the sex tourism. The general attorney Francisco Brito wants to close all the MP, bars, strips and other discos related to sex trade. The government is especially concerned about child prostitution.
I don't think the government will succeed in making an end of prostitution. Yet, take care guys, as many crackdowns are expected within the next coming months.
Yes, the crack down has already started in the south as others have already pointed out on here and on other boards. The whole country is out of whack and have there priorities all fucked up! If these fine establishments do get closed down, they will most likely move underground like in many major US cities and the girls on the streets will still be easy to find.
Someone on another board pointed out a article in a DR paper that cited electric problems leading to higher SW activity in the capital with 30-50 peso BJ on the street and in parks...WOW! That is definately the dominican rate.
MISTER NYC :D
Euro guy,
That is BULLSHIT.
Yes,Brazil has better looking hookers. I'll concede that nonetheless I think that the DR offers other intangibles that make it preferable to Brazil.
1st off, Brazilians are NOT friendlier. In fact many of those bastards are just plain stuck up.
When in the DR,try to meet regular people instead of people that work in prostitution/pimping field. Yes THESE people are definately the ones that are only friendly when they want something out of you.
Brazilian non-pro girls are almost as bad as American girls. Not to mention the fact that some Brazilians have racist attitudes that put some racists here in the USA to shame. At least here in the USA a racist can admit that they are racist, unlike the racist Brazilians that can't even admit that racism exists in thier country.
Brazilians are friendlier than Dominicans? NO FUCKIN WAY.
Don't get me started.I am aware that this post is old as hell but; I agree brazilians are the most racist and fake people in the world. I have been to brazil many times and hear what they say and how they treat blacks/mulatos. Its horrible. At least in america a racist is a racist. In brazil if you have a bit of money oh you are an exception now you are no longer a low down purse snaching nigger, in america it dont matter if your driving a ferarri with a house in the hamptons your still a porch-monkey.
Just take a look at GLOBO TV and its quick to see that all the blacks play the parts of maids or servants. And they blattenley call them nigger on TV. They are very fake people.
Lastley I am married to a brazilian women and her friends are racist and yes sometimes I think she is a bit racist. They are so brainwashed over there thats its sad.

Anyone with an ounce of DR experience would know that there are no $1-$1.66 BJs anywhere in the country.
Yes, these dominican rates in the hobby do exist in our Paradise. There are even dominican ***** houses that only charge like 300 pesos for a quickie. *****s on the streets of DR, like in the capital, do offer low rates for quickies to locals....real locals....not tourists. As far as how low the rates are, I can not personally confirm that, but other locals I know have. Seek and you shall find.
Enjoy...what you can but don't doubt anything in DR. It's all possible.

I am week removed from 7 days in Sosua and 3 days in Santo Domingo. It was my fifth time in 2 years down to DR, and it is close to my last time there.
I wont go into huge details about my mongering. It was certainly plentiful. Averaged about 2 takedowns a day with a few overnights. I am embarrassed to say that my average price was over 1000 pesos for a short stay, and over 1500 pesos for overnight…and I speak fluent Spanish. Also, let me say that DR will always serve a great mongering purpose for many out there. I see myself going there again because is flat-out fun as hell to booze and bang chics with such ease with your boys or fellow mongers…whatever the quality is (that is what beer and Viagra is for).
So, back to my trip. In Sosua, I noticed that the quality is deteriorating fast. Maybe because most of my other visits have been in the summer, but I noticed a lot of the same old hoe$. just this time more tired-looking, fat, etc. Basically, the averages were 4-7s, with very few better than that. More disturbing was the attitude of the chicas. I mean, these chics are more commercial and vulture than ever. The exchange rate was at 22 when I first visited Sosua in Mar. 03. Then, chics were thrilled with even 800 pesos and would do you for 500 no problem. Overnights were 1000 pesos and great. Last July, we boned chics for TWO DAYS for 1500-1800 pesos. Now, these hoes were TURNING DOWN 1000 pesos after starting at 2000 and working down to 1500, and not even for the night. I mean, I speak good Spanish, and am okay looking, and know the game. These hoe$ used to be hungry, and would still settle for 1000 pesos, f*ck what the exchange rate was. Now, its like these hoe$ have more respect or better yet, more confidence that some sucker would eventually come around and f*ck for 2000 pesos without a problem. These girls in Sosua only need to meet three to five dudes a month to give them 2000 pesos a bang in order for them to be on par with real working chics in DR. They are on to the game, and that’s the bad thing…its like the Bohem and Crystals mentality has poured onto the streets and bars =(
I will say there were plenty in Sosua who were still hungry, and logical, and took the 1000-1200 peso price as a godsend. But they were the lower quality babes, or the occasional hot *newbie tail from La Vega, or Nagua, or San Fransisco, or some other ‘campo’ town without plumbing. * They were VERY far and few between. All-in-all, Sosua still serves a great purpose because the abundance is still staggering. But seeing a lot of the same a$$, and low quality p*ssy just made me drink a lot more, which lowered the quality of experiences I did eventually take down. A real observation that in the barrios of Charramicos, La Union, and other barrios of Sosua and Puerto Plata, action there for the locals is literally 300 pesos, no BULLSHIT.
In my short time in Santo Domingo for the second time, I was sorely disapointed. Don’t visit Santo Domingo unless you 1) know fluent Spanish, 2) have time to invest in meeting semi-pro and non-pro tail (I. e, stay for a week or moreA). It is a great place to spend a few weeks, meeting local college girls, workers, etc…who would not mind the supplemental income from being a short-term novia. But full-time pro action was depressing. First, at Jaragua, the chicks were were pricey and NOT hot (unlike my last visit). They were generally older, and fatter, and more aggressive, and sleazier…AND would not take less than 2000 pesos. They may have if I tried hard, but for 5-7s, I’d rather not bend over backwards. Even street hoe$ outside of the casinos didn’t go lower than 1500 pesos, and by that time, 1000 peso was my absolute max. I am very disappointed with 2005 SD versus my trip in 2003. Then, I met a chica at the Malecon Libre celebration, and boned her for 2 days, giving her nothing but cab fare home twice. awesome!
Also, a warning about Casa Teresa—don’t waste your f*cking time. The chicks are definitely 7-10s. But you wanna talk about cold-fish pussy! We had TERRIBLE experiences for a whopping 2500 pesos all-in. I was livid, but obviously couldn’t ask for a refund. Basically, the chics get paid up-front, and have little incentive to show you a good time. Our girls literally just laid there! They say you have the room for 2 hours, but after your load, they are quick to move on. I would have been better off drinking brews while looking at hot Dominican a$$, and then beating off in the bathroom! That may have cost just as much though, with beers costing 130 pesos!
Here is a SD recommendation. Get a cab driver to take you to some of the regular dance clubs in Zona Colonial, or Trio Café, or the clubs on Avenida Venzuela or Avenida San Vicente. You are approaching the barrios with the last two, but there is GREAT local action, speak Spanish and have the cabbie wait for you outside in the last two, especially if you’re an obvious gringo. There was also a lot of street action on Avendia Ortega something (where Casa Teresa was). Some were trannies, but the real-girl action seemed okay for quickies.
All in all, I still recommend DR. Value in Sosua and SD, will be harder to find unless you have time and Spanish up your sleave. Pussy is still out there in abundance, and if you make it to more remote cities, you have less abundance, but much better experiences, such as Samana, Jarabacoa, Rio San Juan, Nagua, San Pedro, La Romana, get out and explore, and you’ll enjoy. Limit yourself to the 4 block radius around Europa Hotel in Sosua or Jaragua Casino in SD, and you’ll be disappointed. Also, the crackdown will eventually trickle down and force these broke and illiterate hoe$ with bambinos to feed to see the light, and prices will move accordingly.

I appreciate your good report and I agree. During my recent April trip I found Santo Domingo disappointing, especially since I was only there one night.
BTW, I was at Casa Teresa and passed on action there fearing the type of action you described. Unless there is an adjustment in prices I am just going to look for GFEs and non-pros.

Here´s a question.
Related to a mens wardrobe, what is a unique characteristic of the city of Miami?
ans. It is the southernmost city in the western hemisphere where it is both socially and fashionably acceptable for men to wear shorts.
As you continue to venture further and further south and journey thru latin America the temperature grows and grows but the shorts come off and on go the jeans, khakis and cargo pants. Sweat though you may you´re looking to score not dressing for comfort -so you need to blend.
Wear shorts anywhere in *Real* Latin america and you are nothing more than a major maricon/pato and you´re not going to enjoy seeing what you pick up with this look! ;)
btw, if you don´t know what those words mean - stay out of latin america!

I agree as far as Central America goes -shorts= hippie tourists with no money. The DR is less of a hassle in the beach towns. I have no idea what a "madecon" is though. Maricon?
Yes, maricon. Another typo. I`m typing this from a internet cafe/ pollo a la brasso in Caracas Venezula. Keys stick, keyboard sucks thanks.
I have typed my Caracas reports over about 5 times each trying to correct typos. ;)
btw, yes when I traveled to Nicaragua I didn`t even pack shorts. The only people I encountered in shorts were in the Town of Granada. They were a collection of gringos who were more interested in their assortment of "smoking bongs" than they were in women.

Being thought of as a backpacking American or a maricon is equally embarrassing. No a gay backpacking American I suppose. It is normal to see campesinos without two cents to rub together with a long sleeved shirt buttoned at the collar and long pants. Not a lot of suit jackets though, thank God. it is hot enough.
Santo Domingo or Boca Chica???. I will be going to the Dominican on July 14 and would like recommendations on what is the best place for nightlife and mongering. Are there any properties you would recommend for me to stay at? I would prefer something beachfront and of course girl friendly. What is the nightlife like at the moment and of course the mongering. Anything else I should be aware of or checkout?. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide me. Anyone there want to meet up for a drink or two or three?.
