There has not been any responses to my posts #503 and #504. I sure would be greatful for any information you can provide me! Again thank you!
Are there any charter companies that are flying from anywhere in Florida to Santo Domingo?
I don't think it's been mentioned here before, but the entry requirements into the DR from the US change at the end of the year. You will need a passport to enter, instead of the current flexibility of getting in on either a passport or birth certificate & photo ID.
This info was sent to my job (where we process passports) in a letter from the State Department.

Santo Domingo or Boca Chica???. I will be going to the Dominican on July 14 and would like recommendations on what is the best place for nightlife and mongering. Are there any properties you would recommend for me to stay at? I would prefer something beachfront and of course girl friendly. What is the nightlife like at the moment and of course the mongering. Anything else I should be aware of or checkout?. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide me. Anyone there want to meet up for a drink or two or three?.If you are looking for nightlife action then-go NORTH my friend Sosua is where you wanna go! There are a number of places to stay Sosua Palace for one and Europa another which are chica friendly very reasonable in price.

......... very good point Baltimonger! I knew about this but you are right it hasn't been mentioned here. This is great for us!!!! With a tightening of entry requiremnets in the DR this means many people will choose other destinations. Afterall, the entire caribbean is competing for the same piece of the tourism "pie".
Less travelers means potentially less competition and potentially reduced prices - or at least we can hope! :)
cheers
Are there any public buses running between Punta Cana and Santo Domingo? Or at least between Punta Cana and Higuey? If so, does anyone know their timetable or any website where I can find it out?
I know that Punta Cana is not the place to be for a monger, that’s why I need info about how to get out of there asap if I finally book a flight into PC airport (which is at the moment much cheaper than others).
Thanks in advance,
....but the DR is becoming too expensive in the realm of lodging and transportation. All of this is of course due to the crappy exchange rate and the fact that most establishments have thier prices pegged to the time when the peso was at 50 to 1 dollar. These bastards refuse to come down in thier prices!
Anyway, there are many more destinations that are more cost effective in this realm. Also, I find some of the accomodations to be rather sub par when compared to other 3rd world countries. Yeah, I've always known this, but when I was only paying about 20 dollars a night for a room 2 years ago that now costs me about 45, I know it's time to move on.
Also, if you're in the DR and can speak the language then by all means rent a car. The motoconchos/ taxis and other schiesters are a pain in the ass at time. Though there ARE some good taxi drivers etc. I'd rather not deal with them. I swear I would have shot one of the motoconcho drivers that I had an encounter with in Puerto Plata if I had the right tools with me. Some of these monkeys think that an American/ Moroccan foreigner like myself would be intimidated by some of these clowns. What a joke.
Food can still be obtained relatively cheaply, so I can't comment on that.
I was in the DR at the same time as Jimmy DR and his crew, but unfortunately I was not able to meet them since I was in another part of the island at the time.
I hear Jimmy bragging about his 500 peso blowjobs, but I don't see whats so special at all. Being the cheap bastard that I am, I still think that this is too much for a BJ. Also consider that this is over 15 dollars for a blowjob. I don't see the deal here. In Brazil I can fuck a big bootied blonde chick for an hour(or more) for the price of this 500 peso blowjob.
I hear guys complaining about Sosua girls etc. raising thier prices blah blah blah. Personally I've never liked Sosua since it's so touristy, but to eac thier own. I'm sure though, that groups of guys still have a good time there. Listen carefully: IF one gets AWAY from the touristy areas then there are still places to find girls that will fuck for 500 pesos.....and it's the norm, not any negotiatied pricing. I'm hesitant to reveal any of these places. The only catch is that one may have to pay a salida of 200 pesos or something like that....so in essence the normal price to fuck will hover in the range of 800-1000 pesos when all the beers, salidas, drinks for friends(don't act like you guys don't do it) are all added up. To me this is STILL expensive when compared to other destinations that I've been to. It's not really the normal Dominican's fault, it's simply the fact that I've been spoiled by the time when the dollar fetched about 50 pesos.
Girls:
I think the DR can be underrated at times in the terms of it's women. I've noticed that many guys on these boards have a preference for black chicas, which is fine I guess, but one would get the impression that these are the only girls available on the island and this most certainly is not true. I do admit though that in many places black girls seem to predominate the pro scene despite the fact the Dominican Republic is a very mixed country(not as mixed as Brazil but close).
I spent some time in the interior of the country where I was surprised to find endless towns composed of mostly caucasian looking Dominicans. The cat houses in these towns are obviously supplied with whiter chicas, with long flowing hair and more of the sterotypical looking latina.
Also the regular women walking the streets of the DR are just as fine as any other groups of latinas, just as good as Brazil(the pro scene in the DR cnnot hold a candle to Brazil's though.) If you do not agree with me then you haven't been to the interior. The coastal cities in the DR are mostly black cities whereas the interior is dominiated by white Dominicans. The capital, Santo Domingo has large amounts of afro Dominicans too, but since it's the capital you can find everything there. I had seen plenty of caucasian Dominican streetwalkers in the capital while driving around at night. I'm NOT recommending street walkers in the capital away from the malecon because many of those broads snort coke. Apparently the crack epedemic hasn't hit the DR yet and they still use the powdered form.
I'll continue this report later, but all in all I'll return to the DR again just not anytime soon. Also, I'll be sure to rent a car for my whole trip and lock down some decent accomodations that won't dent my pocket too much if thats possible nowadays.
In Brazil and Thailand I can rent a fully furnished modern apartment for about 15 dollars a day, whereas in the DR I would only get a shitty room with a cieling fan that probably hasn't been cleaned properly. In one these DR rooms the toilet wasn't even cleaned and there was still dried up shit on the toilet seat.
I still get nausea thinking about it.
More to come.

Thanks in advance,
There are girls available in the town of San Pedro de Macoris. I was there last fall, and hooked up with a pretty little 22 year old morena. I couldn't seem to place any specific casas so I solicted the help of some of the motoconcho drivers around the church. One of them hooked me up.
Our kind of fun is available in just about every town of reasonable size in the country. If you can speak Spanish at at least %50, just "push the issue" around the locals in town and they will direct you.
(Kind of crumby town with horrid potholes everywhere)
cheers...........
Thanks Ford, I appreciate that info and I’ll take it into account.
I intend to book my flight next week, I’m looking for a late deal and am open to different options. If I fly to POP or Cuba it will be OK, but if I end up flying into Punta Cana I haven’t got yet the faintest idea of how to get out of there without having to spend a fortune on one of the rip-off taxi drivers outside the airport.

i think i might consider getting some glasses. ;)
you asked about public buses and i read it as "public houses". i thought you were asking about casa de citas. i answered a different question.
you're right taxi's are going to rob you on that long a ride, but some of the gua guas make these long distance rides at crazy/dangerous speeds. not best for the faint of heart! (lol)
flying into the closest airport to where you want to be is [obviously] always your best bet.
cheers........
‘Public houses’… that’s funny, it sounds like a monger Freudian slip.
I also have that kind of slips sometimes: a few weeks ago I was walking along one street in my *****less Western Europe city and I saw surprisingly a sign saying ‘Bar & Girls’, but when I read it for the second time I realised that in fact it said ‘Bar & Grill’, I couldn’t help laughing at my Freudian slip and my monger one-track mind.

Ha ha ha , yes I know what you mean. I however, don't live in a *****less western European City. I live in the USA, which is the epicenter of puritanical, provincial *****less cities!!
I'm going to go out right now and see if i can't find a "Bar & Girls" establishment that's still open (lol) :)

Hi guys,
could any of you inform me about prices of cellular phones?
I was intrested in buying one when i arrive in SD end september;a prepaid thingy.
How is the coverage? And which companies are best??
Does anyone have a clue about the costs per minute?
TIA
Johan
PS: or should I bring my left over cell from panama...and unlock it on the DR and just buy a sim card(if that's possible)?
Hello Brothers,
I plan on taking a short vacation from Asia and head to the DR. I would like some recommendations as to which city is the best for all around vacation and mongering. Appreciate your help.
LA
Just read through the posts on the Dominican and you will see that the Dominican Republic is NOT the place for you to visit and monger at this time for all the reasons that are stated in the recent posts. I am a monger who is experienced in Asia myself, and you will be totally disappointed as the mongering in the Dominican Republic at this time is nothing compared to Southeast Asia. My suggestion to you is to checkout Costa Rica, Columbia or Brazil if you are looking to monger in a new area. I am sure you will find yourself having a much better time.
Hi On the go...
I would recommend Colombia if you want to see "new areas"...and especialy the jungle area. Realy nice animales....etc...etc and also very nice surroundings. Please go and visit and take your digicam and your shorts with you if you go!!! OOO and please don't learn spanish. You will have plenty of oppertunities to learn it there!!!;-)
Costa Rica???? OO man...that country is allready swarming with gringos and even Russian hookers in San Jose!
Are you KIDDING me??? You won't find "adventure" there.....!
I am not a racist but if you are Asian looking why don't you try Thailand,Vietnam,The Philipines or even China???
It's well known that many latinos (and Latinas aswell) are racists. That's not my fault...that's a simple fact.
IF you realy want "safe" adventure try out Paraguay or maybe Nicaragua!!!
Johan.

Your response to my post says alot about your intelligence as I am a white American and I was only responding to a post by LoveAsia, expressing my views after my recent trip to the DR. Is'nt this what this board is suppose to be about?.
Your response was totally uncalled for.

Does anyone know what is the % in the USA of the population? It seems a very high % of the population in the DR considering elderly and children are also counted. I hope the research is exaggerating. Let me think twice about using condoms in the DR.
From the DR1 news:
Researchers study number of AIDS/HIV patients in DR
A thesis presented at the Catholic University of Santo Domingo (UCSD) is estimating the number of people infected with AIDS/HIV to be 2.4% of the population. A total of 141,630 adults are living with HIV and new cases are expected to reach 29,000 in 2005. Since the beginning of the AIDS epidemic, the researchers think that 79,000 people have died in the Dominican Republic from the disease. Researchers Emily Virginia Reyes Feliz and Gary Grullon Lopez found that 46.2% of the cases are located in Santo Domingo and surrounding towns, and 5.9% are located in Santiago de los Caballeros. Other cities, such as San Cristobal (4.2%) and San Juan de la Maguana (4.1%) were also studied. One interesting aspect of the study reveals that many of the victims (50%) abandon plans to commit suicide, and turn to God, making plans for the future and establishing goals for their lives. Much of the study was conducted at the Salvador B. Gautier Hospital in Santo Domingo. The researchers also concluded that globally the Caribbean is the area with the second highest incidence of AIDS, and amongst the Dominican population, AIDS is the leading cause of death in adults between the ages of 15 and 44 years of age. Young women under the age of 24 are twice as likely to be infected as young men of the same age.
**from dr1 07/25/2005 - millions for dominican image**
the government plans to spend us$23 million on promoting the dominican republic's image this year. the country has been and will be represented at 87 tourism fairs around the world ....... dr1 sources indicate that fiona gilmore from the uk, who is one of the world's leading authorities on country branding, has been contracted to advise on the branding of the dominican republic. she is expected to begin work in the fall.
on the positive side, tourism promotion efforts in russia, mexico, finland and argentina have produced increased flows of tourists from these areas. russian tourists increased by 111% and from finland by 605%. nevertheless, russian tourism is expected to decline given that the cost of a visa to the dr has now been set at eur250.
..........how come nobody solicited my help? ;) i would advise them to stop tinkering with what's not broken and stop running out the loyal tourist base that the dr has already established. yippee doo dah, tourism from finland is up 605% - that basically means that 4 finnish people traveled to the dr in 2003 and now they have 24!;)
meanwhile, literally thousands of "players" are dumping the dr for friendlier destinations in s. and c. america. (you do the math!)

Hi LA,
I've been to every single crevice of this country and your best bet is Sosua/Cabarete area on the northcoast right now. I absolutely love the capital SDQ, its my favorite place, but I wouldn't go near Santo Domingo with the peso currently at 28.45 rdp to 1 usd.
At these exchange levels the price for food, drink and fun is going to be astronomical! Northcoast destinations are a [bit] more manageable.
cheers,
FORD
"tourism from Finland is up 605% - that basically means that 4 Finnish people traveled to the DR in 2003 and now they have 24!"
No, six times as many is only a 500% increase. You need seven times as many for a 600% increase so you'd need 28 Finnish people.
Hope that helps.

Caribbean
The Caribbean remains the second-worst-affected region in the world. Although the cause there is predominantly hetrosexual, UNAids and the WHO say sex between men - which is highly stigmatised - is fuelling the epidemic. National HIV prevalence has reached or exceeded 3% in three Caribbean countries - the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti. The Dominican Republic faces a serious epidemic, but public education is beginning to have an effect.
****
In CA Honduras faces also high rates of Hiv infections. Situation in Brasil seems been stabilising. (still hight rates!)
I would NOT recommend "barebacking" in any of above mentioned countries.
In fact i would not "bareback"at all.....no matter were.
Even a BJ without protection CAN be dangerous.
All you guys outthere doing girls without a rubber are just plain suicidial! It's only a question of time before you get infected!
Johan.
Hi,
I will be in DR in September.
What would be the best place to meet pros during the day?
Boca Chica seems perfect, as it is not far from the capitale. I mean that if I want to chat up non-pros.
Sosua seems to me much further from the capitale....Or any other suggestions?
Which hotels would allow me to bring a girl back without paying a fee?
Thanks in advance for your answers guys.
Hey guys,
I always want to go to DR but everyone tells me to stay in a resort because it very dang res to stay in the city I'm looking to meet girls and play have fun go out at night to clubs im from NY im looking to go with 2 of my friends I been to Brazil I had fun now im looking to go to DR can you tell me will it be safe for 2-3 single guys in DR at night and day.

Go out and explore. Watch out for any cock grabbing chicas with fast hands. They are expert pick-pocketers.
I've wandered all over the place by my damn self at all hours of the day and night. Brazil is far more dangerous than DR.
*Volpone - You can meet pros during the day in both Boca Chica and Sosua, I like Sosua better. You could certainly meet plenty of girls on the northcoast at night and work out arrangements with them for "next day" fun. Outside of looking in on their kid(s) and maybe running an errand or two for their moms most of these girls will probably be more than happy to spend the day with you.
Is there some reason you feel you need to be near the capital? You're right Sosua is a haul, but is not too far from Santiago (the "capital" of the north) ;)
*Twilod- The DR is a relatively safe tourist destination. I've taken many trips never had any kind of problem. "Relatively" safe is pretty good when you're talking about Latin America. Honduras and Guatemala I found to be much more risky, with a "creepy" scary vibe in Zona 1 in Guate City and parts of San Pedro Sula, Honduras near the soccer stadium. In the Dominican Republic, parts of the capital SDQ are probably best left to day trips but if you keep your head about you, and when in doubt take a cab and you'll be fine!
cheers,

Hi Twilod,
the answer is YES.....as long as you stick to some basic rules. I don't have to repeat them here. I think you know what I mean.
In NY,Amsterdam or even in Oslo you also could get mugged, robbed or whatever. If you're alone, drunk and walking in an dark alley in a bad barrio....you're just asking to get mugged imho.hell you don't even have to be drunk! people will notice that you are gringo...even if you are a black guy.
Let me tell you this: The most stupid MISTAKE I ever made was (besides marrying my ex-wife) booking a tour to the DR (back in 2002) in a RESORT HOTEL!!!!!!!! First of all NO resort lets in girls. Forget about that. I tried it....even try to BRIBE the guard and the lobby guy.....didn't work!
Second of all these places are swarming with mommis, daddies and kids.....so you certainly will stick out being a (single traveling) male monger!! LOL
Thirdly i think the food is NOT that great in a resort. maybe i just had the bad luck to have a shitty resort.....but when I am in the DR i will LOVE to go out and dine. NO more resort food for this guy;-) Fuck...even for the desayuno I am going out! I hate most hotel breakfasts.
I second the issue that Brasil is more dangerous....in fact FAR more dangerous then DR. I have been hearing all kinds of sad stories about turistas being mugged etc...etc in Fortaleza and also Rio and SP. Also more and more busses get hijacked and travelers get robbed. The latest "hit"seems to be that criminals enter the hotels and "cream off" all guests!! You wouldn't DARE to compare Rio with Santo Domingo!!!!! Even in Colombia I felt more safe as in Brasil!!!

I would stay mostly in Sosua and also In Santo Domingo. Can You help Me out on Cheap Hotels in those cities from the 12 to 15 Buck Range? If You Can Post back the info here soon.

What is the best city in DR to hit with nighlife and sexy girls and beaches!

Hi Nibu,
what's up? Well I am also looking for a cheap hotel. BUT with all respect i don't think you wanna stay in the 10-15 US$ range priced hotels. I found out that most hotels start (in SD that is) arround 25 bucks or more.
If you seek something in 10 dollar range my guess would be you soon find yourself in somekind of "love-motel".....if you know what I mean.
(you do remember the "Polonia" Hotel in Lima.....right??? hahahahahahhahaha)
Well for one night this wouldn't be a problem...but to stay there for a longer period? I would NOT recommend such places to anyone. Security, hygiene and many other things would lack here.
Up north you should check up on Sosua,Caberete (if you are in for surfing),Puerto Plata etc.... Many cheap good hotels (mostly the socalled resorts) can be found here, starting form 20-25 US $ a DAY with all food. Only problem will be: THEY DO NOT ALLOW GUESTS.....!!!!!!!!!!
I have one good hotel for you run by a Dutch/Belgian couple.....very GF-friendly and not expensive. It's called the COCO HOTEL.
I stayed there 4-5 days back in 2002 and had good memories. The owner speaks english, spanish, german and dutch ofcourse....and could also arrange motocycles for rent,if you like that. He also is aware of the "scene" arround Sosua;-) He is a damn cool guy....when i was there he even lend me his jeep for an evening tour of the area!!! I think the pricings there are very cheap (20 bucks a day for a room). From a mongers point-of-view this place is just perfect.
http://www.cocohotel.com/
For SD area prices will be up even more. I allready got one good link from a fellow monger (Gladiator) on THIS very board:
http://www.hotelresidencia.com/
check it out NIBU. He told me in that area more such hotels are. Check out the SD section...for that.
Other problem will be your time of traveling Nibu: you go in january or february. At that time it's HIGH SAESON in the DR. (in fact also in most other SA holiday destinations) So prices will be UP for sure at that time. That is why you won't find anything decent for 10-15 bucks a day.....imho.
have fun!
Johan
Can anyone tell me the name of the resort that's located in DR where it's an exclusive sex resort? I remember seeing the report on Playboy TV. The girls are usually flown in from Europe and each person stays in their own bungalow with the girl. The girl stays with them for the entire duration of their stay at the resort. I believe there's only capacity for 4 or 5 people and the rates are something like $3,000 for a 3 night stay.
Thanks!

Either Suckerville or Idiotland one of the two. You can find the same girls where you live for less than $1000 a day.

The two differences are the weather and drugs. Weather in DR in October 85 degrees F (29 celsius) Amsterdam in October? Its like 40 F (4 celsius) right? :(
Also Amsterdam is a very open free vacation place, the DR is very different!
Possessing a couple of those little "mota" cigarettes on the beach in La Romana could get you a one way ticket to "la bestia" (the beast). La Victoria National Penitentiary in Santo Domingo. If you can't bribe your way out of that prison in the first 30 days - they'll probably recover your body in one of the laundry dumpsters.
The better place to go? All depends on your vices mate.
be safe,

Hi Johnny euro,
I am dutch...so i think i know something about weed.(LOL) let me tell you there are some (illegal offcourse) weed planters down in DR. HOWever they have to pay off some police officers...if you know what I mean. And in most cases trhey are all dominican persons. IF a gringo would do this....be sure he would NOT planting those wonderfull plants for long.....
I know OUTSIDE SD area and also up north there are some suppliers.....but please DO NOT ask me names or whatever as I don't know them.
In Colombia on several occasions i was offered a very cheap portion of cocaine. However as I am totaly against THIS form of drugs i refused politely and quickly moved to another spot. People many times asked me if i had some weed, because they saw me rolling my own sigarettes with plain (dutch) tobacco.(so apparently they thought it was somekind of marijuana or stuff like that...) However i would NOT be that stupid to import weed into such countries!!!!!!!!!!!!;-) HELL NO!
Setting up a small holiday resort with some weed, some great chicas in an very free manner certainly would be a great thing to do. I am sure it would attract MANY Americans,Europeans and even local gentry to feast. However the legal problems you would encounter would be severe. And I don't want to end up in a DR prison.....
trust me......if weed (ie marijuana) would be legalised (like it should!!) I would be the first person to set something up like i mentioned above!!!!
Untill then.....if you go to countries like the DR,Brasil or wereever please be carefull. Even a simple (nature based!) cigarete with some weed inside can get you in a WORLD OF DEEP SHIT. And i don't mean the shit you can smoke.
So IF you realy can't do without weed......I would suggest go to Amsterdam.
Which IMHO is greatly overrated but that is another story.
OOOO and the wheater CAN be nice in october....i remember last year we had better wheater in october then we did in August....!! But then again it could be raining cats and dogs for WEEKS on October.....LOL.
Regards,
Johan.
Best herb in the world I tell you. A true miracle drug! I always get herb down in BC. 10 dollars worth will last u for a week if you smoke everyday twice a day on vacation. But you must know the right people. Front a tigre u trust(if thats truly possible) a small amount of money(10$s) with the promise that if he returns with an abundant amount of herb that he will be tipped well. How does this tie in to girls? Pleasure centers. All the girls drink and most smoke herb but are afraid to tell you for fear that you will look down upon them as drugees or worse yet, crack*****s! News Flash fellas! I have known some of the most gorgeous girls on the island to smoke herb and mix it with cocaine and some of the prettiest girls from the poorer barrios experiment with crack. Be careful! I DONT DO THAT. But herb creates a tranquility and heightened sensation while in the act.In addition you'll be stiff as a brick! No Pills needed! Guys if this is not something that you do at home, DO NOT TRY IT IN IN THE DR. It has been my experience that if the girl likes to smoke that 300-500 can be deducted of the tab with ease. So long as your alert and she's cheify (term for high) youd be suprised what can happen.
So IF you realy can't do without weed......I would suggest go to Amsterdam.
Johan, I defer to you. You are obviously the expert on Amsterdam, as I have never been. Someday I would like to go, and when I do I will pm you and ask you to take me on a guided tour.
That is a pretty scary thought though, when you think of it - Johan and Ford together on a tour of Amsterdam! Many women are going to be in trouble!! (lol) :D
Johan is of course correct - weed should be legalized, absoulutely! I don't see this happening anytime soon in the U.S. or in Latin America. Too much money can be made by "shaking down" tourists and looking for bribes and pay offs. If you want to indulge in a few "hits' stick to Europe.
When I was in Honduras I was told that every 2nd taxi driver could get you coke. "If you asked for one kilo, he'd bring you two just in case you or your date ran out thru the night.
I'm afraid Viagara and Cialis are the only drugs I take. I'm not a drug taker - but an ice cold Presidente beer on the beach is a different story!! :)
cheers,
FORD
I have a question for anyone. I live in Costa Rica, so I am familiar with tropical weather. From looking at a map and doing some research I can see that there are highland areas of the DR. Are there any cities that are above 1000 meters? The DR looks nice but I don't like hot humid all the time. Or much of the time, for that matter. Any info would be appreciated.
There are NO major cities in DR that are at a high elevation. My memory is not 100% correct about this but there are two mountain ranges in Hispaniola. Both run through the middle of the island and are higher in Haiti than in DR. DR is more mountainous in the western part near the Haitian border. There are many small towns in that area that I don't think you should visit alone
If you like the cool temps of higher elevations, then I suggets you stay in CR or try Puerto Rico. It also has a mountain range through its middle and I have heard there is spectacular ecotourism in that area.
Thanks for the info and the honestly, George. I probably should stay in CR. It ain't broke so I don't need to fix it.

Hi Guys,
about high altitude cities in DR i found this:
http://www.constanza.net/
comparing it a bit with the town of Boquette (which even is much higer at about 2000meters above sealevel) in panama i can say that it was BORING,EXPENSIVE (many older ex-US militairy staff with higher fixed pensions) and I for myself never ever want to live in such a place.
I wonder if any monger wants to live in such a town because usualy hookers and the likes are hard to find here.
Apart from the fact it probably will be 5-10 centigrades Celsius cooler there are no known advantages;-)
Also there seems to be quite a chemical polution because of the farming.....
http://anthro.binghamton.edu/graduates/cmelendez/migration1.html
OO also a shortage on women..!! And with 45.000 citizens it will for sure not have an active nightlife;-)
Well....seems not like a place for a monger if you ask me. But if you are keen on farming and a quite surrounding....be my guest:-)
LOL
take care.

Hey guys,
I have a very good friend of mine who is a taxi driver in Santo Domingo. His name is Toni and he speaks very little English. It is good enough to communicate.
He will NOT try and rip you off. He is very sincere and honest.
He does not accept a commission if he hooks you up with a girl.
His cell number is 809-772-6551.
He will accept whatever you give him. But that does not mean you should give him 20 pesos for 6 hours of his services. :)
Tell him that "CHEE NO" introduced you to him. I'm Asian. lol
Thanks.
Last april I found a map here or somewhere with the location of all the casas and clubs. Can any one help. I'm arriving to Santo Domingo in 6 days.

Guys,
I want to know what cost a normal (no 1001 options cell phone!) plain cell phone with a card in the DR?
What i do know is that they have other system as in Europe,so i better leave my dutch cell at home. (that one wouldn't work anyway) besides that....phoning with my dutch cell would cost me more money:-(
Does anyone know what are the best profitable companies that sell card cell phones??? How is the network coverage???
This will be the first thing I do after awake the next day in DR.....buy a cell phone!!!Well that is......offcourse after i chow down my desayuno....;-)
Well I do have one from Panama left....but that has a simlock and maybe I will use it again if I someday will return to Panama. (still think it is a cool country!!)
cherio guys!

I'll be arriving in Sousa next week, a buddy and I are staying at Europa and this will be our first time there.
Can any of you guys tell me where I can find a list of spanish phrases that are useful for our purposes? When I was in Brazil last year, I copied the phrases listed in the forum and they were EXTREMELY helpful. The girls got a kick out of me asking for specific "services" in their language.
If you can't direct me to a list, would you mind translating a few phrases for me? Let me know, and I'll send you a PM.
Thanks

Hi,
I assume you know the basics of spanish...well if not,you must master them pretty soon!
Here we go:
Chupar= to suck/ "queres chupame?"= Do you want to suck me (ie your dick)?
Quanto vale?= How much? (usualy when duscussing money issues) So learn the spanish NUMBERS!!
Todo el noche?= all night??
Quanto horas estas conmigo?= How many hours are you with me??
Que haces en la cama? "what do you do in bed".....ie referring to what she does to YOU sexualy. When she answers "todo" (=all)....you'll probably will have lots of fun:-)
Puedo entrar en su trasero? "Can I penitrate your ass"??
Puedo besar su cuerpo??= Can I kiss your (whole) body??
Con/Sin condom? = With/Without rubber.
Erres muy linda y muy ardiente!= You are very pretty and very horny! (you can easely say this to a girl AFTER you'd make sex with her. She probably will feel very good about those words;-) The word "caliente"also can mean "horny"...or "hot".
No queres tomar una ducha?= Don't you want to take a shower? (Usualy most latina girls are pretty clean on their body.....BUT Just in case;-)
Quero gozar su chucha ahora, soy muy caliente.= I want to f#ck your pussy now...I am very hot.
Yo no pago eso dinero para ti....a veces soy muy tacano sabes!= I don't pay that money for you...at times i am very cheap you know;-)
Eso es muy caro= That is too expensive.
Puedes dame su numero cellular/telefono de la casa??= Could you give me your (private) cell number/home number?
Quando erres libre?= When are you free (off duty)?
Mi gusto sus labios/piernas/trasero/tetas/cara/ojos= I like your lips/legs/ass/tits/face/eyes.
Soy casado/divorciado/soltero= I am married/divorced/single.
No me molestas mas señor!= Don't hassle me sir!(fe if a streetvendor hassles your ass and you want to get rid of him)
The word "pussy"has MANY different words in all latin america. In Colombia you hear often "kuka"....in central america they say "chucha" .....Concha also means pussy. Also the word "coño"means pussy. I am pretty sure you guys will come up with many more diffrent words for pussy....;-)
This is just a small list from myself. If any of you guys have more feel free to add some up.
Hope this helps.

A few corrected corrections:
1.Cuantas horas estas conmigo?= How many hours are you with me??
Use tiempo for time in the abstract. Hora pertains to the hour itself. Cuanto tiempo puedes quedarte conmigo? How much time can you stay with me, e.g. for how long?
2. Que haces en la cama? "what do you do in bed"
The risk here is she says that she sleeps. Add gustar - e.g. Que te gusta hacer en la cama (conmigo) - what do you like to do in bed (with me)?
3. Puedo entrar en su trasero? "Can I penitrate your ass"??
Entrar is very literal and trasero is really the behind, like the culo/a vs the asshole. The use of poder (puedo) is really asking if you are capable - express wishes as wishes - Gustaria (or quiero) cogerte (or cingarte in the DR) en tu ano - may as well get it out in the open.
4. Puedo besar tu cuerpo??= Can I kiss your (whole) body??
Cuerpa for women.
5. Con/Sin condom? = With/Without rubber.
You will find the use of condon in some locales and protectivo in the DR is more common.
6. Eres muy linda y muy ardiente!= You are very pretty and very horny!
Use either cachondo/da or arrecho/cha. (You/her)
7. No quieres tomar una ducha?= Don't you want to take a shower? (Usualy most latina girls are pretty clean on their body. But just in case;-)
We take a shower but using tomar is literal and is usually used to take a photo or a drink.
Ask - Quieres ducharte (conmigo) Do you want to shower (with me). If you want her to tell her to take one (good idea)
Quiero que te duches (conmigo) .
8. Quiero gozar tu chucha ahora, estoy muy caliente.= I want to f#ck your pussy now. I am very hot.
Gozar is to enjoy. Chocho is common in the DR for pussy.
Use cingar for gozar. Since she probably knows where you want to 'cingar" adding the chocho part seems pretty silly.
9. Puedes darme el numero cellular/telefono de tu casa? = Could you give me your (private) cell number/home number?
Nothing wrong here - let us now when you find a girl with a phone in the casa other than the community Orange cellular.
10.Cuando estas libre?= When are you free (off duty)?
Use estaras which is the future tense - when will you be free (and DR girls are never free, of course :) )
11. Me gustan tus labios/piernas/trasero/tetas/cara/ojos = I like your lips/legs/ass/tits/face/eyes.
For trasero (use cula) and cara use Me gusta - gustan is for plural nouns (legs, eyes etc.)
12 .No me moleste mas señor!= Don't hassle me sir!
Vayase works well for them and beggar kids (the imperative for leave).
Thanks Guys, I really appreciate it. 5 days till Sousa!
Does anyone one know if there is anything special going on is Sosua or POP between 9/29 - 10/8?
Heading to DR 10/31-11/7 with some buddies for a golf trip and mongering. I will be solo the first two days in Santo Domingo. We are staying in Casa de Campo the balance of the trip. How should we go about importing some chicas back to our villa.
Ay help would be appreciated and will send report of our results.

Casa de Campo is the #1 top shelf place in the whole country - Pres. Clinton, Shakira stay there, private airstrip, villas, etc. I would imagine you will need to reserve a double and show up with girls that look pretty presentable and not street girls. Not many locals in the la Romana area and any that are may be known to management from previous attempts.
If you cannot speak any Spanish, while I am sure the front desk will have the means to speak English they may wonder how you know the girls if you cannot say a word to them.
Other AI's in the south are less upscale and really only care about getting paid for the food and drink part of the room, e.g. a double.
It is very likely they will not admit the girls, and if you came from the capital you might have a big tab getting them back unless they'll take the guaguas.
Thanks. For clarification we are going through a private company for our house and not Casa de Campo. Does that make a difference? Also What about hooking up on Boca Chica and then back to our place.
Another thought we had was to hire a driver to do the transporting for us. Is that an viable option?

Other than maybe Panama in parts the need for Spanish in Central America is greater than the DR and you need it plenty in the DR. Why don't you just learn Spanish?
I go to Nicaragua monthly and know/encounter precisely three people with English - a waiter , one taxi guy and the guy at the airline ticket office. Not a ton of English language companionship.

I guess it all depends if there is someone screening who goes in and out of this house. If it is a house in Casa de Campo you are probably just as screwed. It is not a place that looks kindly on hookers. I presume there is a gate guard and some identification of who comes and goes, the two girls in microminis will be a clue I think.
How are you going to find "a driver" and what exactly would he transport where?
If you can't speak Spanish I think you will have a hard time getting the point across to Boca girls that you want to take them 60 miles east to this place and how you would set a price would be difficult as well.

You can go to the DR. There are many that go there that do not speak or speak very little spanish. Get a book and learn the basics. It is very easy. You do not need to know a lot of spanish to make it in Sosua area (and if you are coming for mongering that is the place to go) but if you intend to really enjoy the country and get out of the overly touristy areas you will need to know some spanish.
If you go the the Palace or to Black Beards you should be fine.
Well I guess hooking up with some chicas in La Romana seems pretty difficult. I do have people who have been to DR several times who can probably help me with a driver. Anyway, what are the prospects for me staying in Santo Domingo at the Renaissance Jaragua ?

As mentioned Central America and the DR are real challenging for non-Spanish speakers. I've been to just about every country in CA and the only surprise was the number of women at the Del Rey in Costa Rica that spoke passable English. Certainly wouldn't say this is true of all of San Jose however. I agree with Grand Pollo's assessment of Nicaragua. Honduras, Guatemala ditto.
In the caribbean, the Dutch Antilles are party places. Curacao, Aruba and St Maarteen. Hotel staff speak English but of course you're lucky to get any English at all out of providers. Jamaica can be fun, and is (sort of) English speaking.
Jamaica is interesting place however since the local dialect is deeply rooted in Rasta-Patois. I have a Jamaican friend who "skid-talks" Rasta/English so bad that I'm starting to teach him Spanish so I'll be able to understand what he's saying! (lol) :)
Jamaican Patois --- "Bashy" (derived from Bashment) very exciting!
"I when to da party dee other night and it was total bashy mahn!" :D

Ford,
You seem to know well the CA & Caribbean so it'd be interesting to know your opinion on these questions that I'm curious about:
- What's the best country for mongering in CA? Considering all the key aspects (girls quantity, quality & attitude, prices, safety, etc). From what I've read Honduras sounds quite good (maybe not the safest, though). Language isn't a problem as I speak Spanish.
- Is Jamaica better or worse than the DR/Cuba mongering-wise? Is it still worth a visit? I'm considering Jamaica for next year.
I found a local site:
http://www.latinaffairs.com/
Not sure if the girls are any good. They wanted $700 for only 5 days and the girls on the site all looked very very poor. Not one hot looking girl in the bunch. Is it difficult to find pretty non pros of you are a gringo? Are they all P4P when it comes to USA men. What is the real DR story? Any DR regulars?

No it is not. Im from Jamaica and can tell you. The quality is less consistent and the cost higher. If you speak Spanish, stick to the DR or Colombia. Jamaica's culture is not the best for our hobby.
Naughty just got two weeks to play unexpectedly.
Looking at making my first visit to DR, but I need to do things quick. I've been doing some searches, but without very satisfactory results. Sooo...
I want to visit the PP/Sosua/Cabarete area for a week or two like--right now!!!
Any tips on getting an inexpensive flight to DR from the midwest (I don't mind busses, so anywhere not too far away is OK) would be greatly appreciated. Seems most flights into Puerto Plata are both costly and 18 to 20 hour nightmares.
Also, is there anyplace to obtain adult toys and vids in the Gold Coast area or will I need to bring my own? How about vitamin V?
Thanks to any who can help!
Naughty
I just got back from a 5 month extended trip in DR and have been going for a couple of years now quite regularly...usually for a month or two at at time.
I think the price one pays depends on where you get them and the quality of the chic. One can easily pay 1,000 pesos or less for a quickie or a couple hundred pesos for a decent BBBJ, but what the hell will she look like? Will she be fat and ugly? An undesirable? Most likely, but then again, different strokes for different folks.
On the other hand, I aim for quality. Sometimes you find quality just by walking around in the shopping centers in Santiago or hanging around the Universities in POP/STI/SDQ. Sometimes all it takes is an invite for dinner and drinks. But when you have to pay, something in the neighborhood of 2,000 pesos ON AVERAGE should be a good gesture. Sometimes it will take 1,500, but sometimes it will take 2,500...but again, these higher prices have to do with the higher quality.
I posted some pics of chicas that I think are of good quality in the photos section here. Take a look.
MISTER NYC :D
I would search for flights coming into Santiago and the capital. You can easily take Caribe Tours bus line from the capital, about 5 hours, or from Santiago about 1.5 hours for cheap. The fare from the capital is about $9 and from Santiago it's somewhat less if I remember correctly.
Do a search. See for yourself.
You may also want to try flying directly to NYC/JFK on one airline and then hopping on Delta or Jetblue for a non stop flight to Santiago.

Do US cell phones work in the DR?
I believe the answer to your question is a qualified yes. Qualification involves whether your US carrier has international roaming agreements with DR carriers and possibly whether your cell phone is GSM compatible. I've brought an AT&T cell phone to Sosua and on startup it would hook up with the local Orange network. The caveat here is that you'll be paying exorbitant rates to make calls and locals will not want to call you back since you won't have a local number.
If you have a GSM phone and it is unlocked, the less expensive way to go would be replace the local SIM chip in your phone with one from the local carrier. In Sosua it wasn't hard to find the Orange stores on the Main street, and with their chip install you can buy minutes as you need them and you will have a local number. If you do a google search for prepaid SIM cards you may find that you can order a SIM in advance with some minutes. This can be good if you wish to use your phone right after you step off the plane, but it'll probably cost twice as much as buying your SIM as you arrive.

I don't know...but why take the risk? I bought an old secondhand (500 peso!) motorola STARTAC with UMTC system(dual band) and it worked GREAT for me....the card was from TRICOM.(prepaid) Sure you can't call abroad...but you could do that in the many phone shops for about 7 peso a minute..!!!(to the US or Canada)
If you ask arround at any taxista or streetvendors they know plenty adresses were to find second hand (simlockfree) cell phones. UMTC or GSM...
My amiga arranged mine;-)
I had a good coverage...even in barahona! The LG GSM cell with camera from my amiga often didn't worked...so we had to use the good old Motorola thingie....
just a thought....
Johan.
Thanks for the useful tips.
JetBlue now goes to Santiago, DR from Boston, MA beginning in mid to late Novermber 2005 with a stop over in NYC/JFK. I priced a ticket for about $360 round trip.
Hope this helps someone.

Hello all thanks for the great info. Im planning my first trip to DR & me and a friend decided to stay in SD at hotel meutur. Is this a good GF place to stay? Me and my friend dont speak any spanish. Is it possible to meet chicas with no spanish or do we both need to take some intro courses? Is SD a good place to find good pros or non pros are the going rates cheap or should i also plan a visit to BC? Ive heard that DR is kind of dry since the crackdown on working girls is this true? Can anyone with a little experience pm me with the basics?
Thanks
Hi Jackson,
Could you please make such a toppic here just like they have that in the Brasil section??
I know many guys are intrested in Living in the DR permanently (including myself).
What better way to swap info on this subject then to make a seperate topic??
Thanks IA.

Three of us are making our first trip to DR the weekend of Nov 3rd. I have gone through this site and compiled a bunch of information together, but still need some additional information in order to make the most of the trip, especially since we only have three days there, we want to make sure to make the most of the trip.
1) We have selected Santiago as the destination since the airfare to Santo Domingo is coming up much more. Puerto Plata and Santiago fares are about the same. Anyone have any opinion on which of these two places would be best for first timers, who don't speak any Spanish?
2) Any Hotel recommendations in Santiago and Puerto Plata? We would like a place that is reasonably clean, conveniently located, visitor friendly, offers convenient food/drinks options and where we can get by on English only. Based on my investigation, so far I have come up with Hotel Platino. Wondering what other options there might be.
3) I read several posts about people getting unpredictable exchange rates over there. Is there any reason to not bring local currency with us, converetd here in the US?
4) Nothing can beat the thrill of scoring non-pros or semi-pros. Any tips on where/how to find such chicas in these two locations?
5) I don't have a good sense of distances over there. If we are in Santiago for three days, is it worth making a trip to Boca Chica or Santo Domingo?
Of course, the primary purpose of our trip is mongering so all questions are from that perspective.
I would appreciate any feedback and I will write up a detailed report upon my return.
Thanks.

It is very possible to meet chicas. They LOVE guys with no experience, and no ability to say one word. When the argument about what you agreed to for how much comes, you are going to be at a loss. You won't pick up non pros without being able to sweet talk (or any talk, really). I think Metetuer is an upscale hotel , a company that has AI resort types. Good luck getting past security in a hotel like that.
Search the posts, read the Santo Domingo ones, vs. General Info , e.g. here, and then ask once you have some specific needs. There are proper hotel recommendations. How did you find this place?

1) You' re 4 hours from Santo Domingo / Boca Chica.
2) You're an hour's drive from the nearest beach. There is no beach in Santiago!!!
3) Do what most non-Spanish speaking tourists do, when they arrive in the DR and they want to save some cash.... They fly to STI, they take a 60min. cab ride to Sosua for US$50 or so, they find a hotel or apt. near "the strip" (Europa, the Palace...), and they pick up the *****s on "the strip" and in the clubs at night.
4) If you don't know anybody in Santiago, and you don't speak Spanish, you have no business being there.
-Helpmann :)
I don't know DR ( sounds expensive?) but have travelled in other parts of Latin America and other 3rd world countries and have found budget accomodation always more interesting and much better for finding girl friends or "girl friends" (chicas) - or even group/threesome guys etc, etc.
I am surprised at the wealth of reporters here. For decent budget accomodation and brief reports "Lonely Planet" is the best source - and for real costs versus expensive tourist prices.
Also if you want t get to know the people and culture it is best to avoid high end hotels - which effectively isolate you from the populace - AND make taxis and services more expensive AND make you a target for ne'er-do-wells hanging around suhch places.
Mixing with locals in cheaper hotels also gives the opportunity o meeting more chicas - at least more fun girls than "high class hookers". Just a bit of gentlemanly behaviour and generosity to a group is more fun and practically guarantees company - even for days - IF you are decent and speak some Spanish.
The "secret" is to enjoy a laugh! -.. .usually at one's own expense.
Helpmann, thanks for the pointers.
Any opinion on Puerto Plata vs. Santiago? Airfares are about same for both places, and I understand that there are nice beaches in Puerto Plata. Just wondering about ease, convenience and plentitude of chicas at PP.
If we end up in Sosua, is Santiago the best airport to fly into?
Thanks again for responses!
And just so you folks don't think that I'm a leach, I've submitted several useful local reports on UG. I just hadn't discovered this new place for WSG until recently.

any opinion on puerto plata vs. santiago? airfares are about same for both places, and i understand that there are nice beaches in puerto plata. just wondering about ease, convenience and plentitude of chicas at pp.
if we end up in sosua, is santiago the best airport to fly into?as helpmann said, if you are newbies to dr and have only 3 nights and speak no spanish, head for sosua.
if prices are comparable, fly in to puerto plata (pop). the airport is only a few miles ($20 taxi) from sosua.
note that puerto plata is a city of 150k with no beaches. sosua is a town of about 25k with plenty of chica bars, discos and a nice beach within easy walking distance if you stay at the europa
http://www.hotelplazaeuropa.com/plaza-seiten/plazaeuropa-titel-engl.html
if you were going to be there longer i might have other suggestions, but for 3 nights sosua is your best bet for a compact playground. you'll probably get taken somewhat, but you'll probably enjoy it too, so what the hell.
in regard to your question about changing us dollars to dominican pesos before you go, don't do it! you will be raped unmercifully on the exchange rate. you can change dollars for pesos at the airport for not too bad a rate if you want, though the taxi driver will gladly accept your $us20 bill. the europa will change your money at a very good rate.
helpmann's last point: "if you don't know anybody in santiago, and you don't speak spanish, you have no business being there.", is also pertinent. i would listen.
all in all, for 3 nights and minimum hastle, head for sosua.
Helpmann, thanks for the pointers.

If we end up in Sosua, is Santiago the best airport to fly into?
* Santo Domingo BY FAR has the greatest number of women/hookers.
(the beach is a 35min. drive away)
* Santiago has the 2nd greatest number of women/hookers.
(the beach is a 70min. drive away)
* Sosua has the highest concentration of hookers.
(Beach - the water is wavy and is good for wind surfing; located in the city)
* Boca Chica has second highest concentration of hookers .
(Beach - the water is calm and is good for paddleboats and jet skis; located in the city)
If "you're city" didn't make the list, then it's not in the "top 4" places to monger in the Dominican Republic.
BTW: POP, STI, SDQ... all things being equal, fly to the airport nearest to your hotel/apt.

If I may add some additional things to the posting from Helpmann??
If you want to go to Sosua POP airport is better...it's only 20 min drive away.
Besides that I know of flights from the US/Canada/Europe always go to Puerto Plata(POP) OR to Punta Cana OR to Santo Domingo(SDQ). I never heard of any DIRECT flights to Santiago. But maybe I am mistaken??
For God's sake...STAY AWAY from Punta Cana....as it is a HUGE all-inn turist area with huge hotel accomodations. needles to say this is NO place for the average monger!!!:-( IF there might be hookers availeble I recon they should cost a few bucks more....;-) So in any case Go to POP or to Santo Domingo. From there the country can be discovered EASELY by bus for very cheap prices!! (caribe tours or Metro bus)
About Santiago: the city is DR second largest city and has about 650.000 people. Also there is a large free tarde zone here with many many shops and malls. Even people from the capital go here to shop for electrical equipment, clothes, parfumes and/or shoes because they are soo much cheaper as in the capital.
Needles to say in Santiago are countless shopgirls;-) which is good IF you speak spanish and like the NON-PRO scene:-)
The city ITSELF is rather dull and has very little to offer for the average turists. BUT we are NOT average...are we?? hahahahahahah
BTW the surfers paradise is called CABERETE (to the east from Sosua).....and it is also very close to Sosua...i guess about 20-25 min with a taxi. If you like you could also take a gua-gua to there;cheaper and more fun;-) but less comfortable.
If you are more the cultural type you also can visit La ISABELLA (to the west from Sosua)..,.which are the ruins of the FIRST City founded by the spanish in 1493..by Christopher Columbus. (Colon in spanish)
However i did get into an historian dispute with a tourguide in the capital as I told him that REALY the vikings discovered America 500 years earlier then Colon;sailing from Norway to Iceland and so to Greenland and the North east coast of New foundland......But that's another story;-) The guy even seemed offended by my statement...! Here everybody knows that. But in the DR it's something else.
Johan.

Guys,
I really need your opinion. Does it make sense to go to Sosua if you don't speak Spanish? I speak very little and wonder does it even make sense to plan this trip. Any of you go there that don't speak Spanish? How did it go? Would maybe Santo Domingo be better option?
Your response is appreciated.

It makes perfect sense TO GO to Sosua if you don't speak Spanish. Sosua is tourist beach town loaded w/ *****s. If you don't speak Spanish and you're in Sosua, you're among many.
Santo Domingo, the capital and most populated city in the DR, is the opposite. Fewer tourists (by percentage) and fewer English (by percentage) speakers.

You can get a deluxe single room at Blackbeards for $45.00 US. Meals range from $4.00 to $6.00US Breakfast, $6.00 –$8.00US Lunch and Dinner $8.00 - $14.00US. I can not remember the exact beer prices. I think that they were 45 pesos for a Small and 65 pesos for a Large beer. The exchange rate today is 33 pesos equals 1 US dollar that would make a Large beer under $2.00.
The prices for the girls are 1200 to 1500 pesos ($36.00 to $45.00US) for a short time. The Price for all night is between 2500 to 3000 pesos ($75.00 - $90.00US). If you take a girl for all night you will most likely buy them dinner and breakfast as well.
I have visited Blackbeards twice and am going back for my third visit in December. I averaged $200.00 US a day. For a 47 year old Ohio boy to be in a Tropical climate in the winter with pretty girls in their 20’s that is a fair price.
I agree that there are less expensive ways to do a trip to the DR. If you are young(25 – 40) with energy and Spanish speaking ability you may want to go to Sousa and do things on your own. If you are an upper middle class American in his 40’s and 50’s without Spanish speaking ability Blackbeards is the way to go in my opinion.
This is a previous post
Top reasons to vacation at Blackbeards in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic http://www.blackbeardsadultresort.com/index.html
1.) Beautiful young girls available 24/7 at very reasonable prices. http://www.blackbeardsadultresort.com/beauties/
2.) A measure of safety, Blackbeard girls are checked for STD’s and are much less likely to steal from you than some girl you met at a bar somewhere.
3.) Rooms are clean with working hot water, air conditioning, electricity, lock boxes, and satellite television with porno station, and are reasonably priced.
4.) Restaurant and Bar right on premises. Good but not great food at reasonable prices. Beer is cold and again reasonably priced.
5.) Easy to meet other American, Canadian, and European, middle class guys in there 40’s and 50’s also interested in drinking some adult beverages and meeting young girls. When traveling alone it is much more fun to hook-up with other guys.
6.) Nice Pool is clean and available to use 24/7
7.) Management is available and responsive to help you if needed.
8.) Blackbeards driver will meet you at the Puerto Plata airport and take you to Blackbeards about a 30 minute drive.
Hey all!
I just joined and am considering going to DR. Although I sometimes indulge in the pro scene, a lot of the time I just try my hand with the non-pro locals and if it doesn't work out, oh well. I've been looking at the photo gallery for DR and have a couple of questions.
1.Are all the girls kind of the heavy-set type with large, pendulous breasts? That's not really my type and I wonder if most all girls in DR have that look?
2.Are non-pro's receptive to white guys at all? I speak limited spanish and know that's a problem but would you say in general if you head to a club in DR, that you might get to flirt with some of the locals? For what it's worth, I'm 31,extremely fit, and don't really have problems meeting women here in San Francisco
I realize these are both very subjective questions so just giving me your opinion is quite helpful. I appreciate the help and your time. Take care!!

The hotel and all its features quoted below (e.g. 1, and 2-8) are fine and fairly priced. It is really quite a nice place.
However, the short term and all night prices are for gringos particularly gringos who can't bargain one iota outside the hotel (and it is permitted to bring your own legal girls back there if you wish - a good idea).
Don't hang your hat on the STD checks and DR girls will always steal.
And feed them the next day, sure, good money after too much bad. They are not dates. They are employees.
Come on: US$90 TLN for a DR girl? Please. US$200 a day of which maybe $75 is the room , meals and beer? Please.
For someone incapable of even trying it is like an all-inclusive and fills a small niche. Learn Spanish if you travel to a Spanish speaking country.
The DR has been problematic with the sudden rise of the peso and no appreciable change in the prices ( i.e. the didn't go down as you'd expect) but it is possible on both shores to negotiate and represent a collective front of reasonable prices. If i were in the shoes of having to pay $90 I think I would work very hard at learning to act independently.
It is however far less than those "packages" where the resort charges $1000 a day and you wind up with east European girls.

Hello johann, thanks four your report. You are right, the men working in the sugar fiels really are poor bastards. Saw this, while riding with a rented moto thru the fields. had really problems, not to cry immediately! They have to work while the sun is burning down maybe with 40 oder even 45 degree. Can understand now, why they are thirsdy in the evening for much rum. But I was looking that time for my GF living in a batey near La Romana. As unfortunately, she had great luck and is married in germany, so I need to look for an new one. Have found some pics no-digital of diffrent GF, try to subit them here soon.
Why do you care about men working in the sugar fields? Maybe it would be more interesting to hear how you picked up your GF in La Romana.

Hmmm, possibly because they're human beings. Just as human as we are.
(Hopefully even the guys on this site aren't totally lacking in humanity).
Cyberspace,
As Yanqui69 has already answerd you, I must also tell you too, that you really are lacking humanity. It seems, that for you, men there are bullshit and the girls nothing more then fucking machines. Sorry but I think, you are the most poor bastard, therefore I dont give informations here how I met my haitian girl. Sorry again, but this was too much!!! And Haitians especially have big, big, problems.

Public forums on the internet are nothing unusual, but the vast majority will quickly censor banish and/or delete any serious discussion of prostitution (or mongering if that's the prefered term). This is one of the few places that is dedicated to mongering and it would be a shame to see it devolve into random off topic BS, even if such BS has a social conscience. But ... I'll grant you that with a stretch of imagination the plight of DRs poorest dudes has some connection with mongering, but it is a stretch. At least it is somewhat more appropriate that this discussion is now taking place in a "General Info" forum rather than a "Photo" forum where it began.
There are many billions of people in the world and I'd venture that at least a few of those billions are worse off than you and I. So what are you going to do about it? The only tangible offerings you can make are love and money. Let's face it sympathy and understanding are nice, but they don't materially help. On occasion I have been known to offer love and money to a select few women who are worse off than I. That much humanity I have. Of course there's been much discussion in the forums indicating that women tend to prefer the money over love. If, with your "greater humanity", it's your bent to go further and offer your love and money to the poorer dudes of the world, then enjoy yourself.

MrP is right....in SD I saw many many stunners; from white...till pitch black and all colours in between.....try to find that in Sosua or Punta cana and you will have a very hard time. (and I do NOT refer to the fact of share numbers but also the percentage of woman!)
Almost made me feel bad that I had my GF with me all the time. Even in a mall some girls looked at me with more then normal intrest allthough they noticed i wasn't alone....and had my GF with me.
Well same here...if you are alone nobody looksat you and if you ahve a GF next to you all the girls are checking you out...LOL

Do you have a picture of your GF? Would you care to post that in the Photo thread? How did you meet her?
Do you have a picture of your GF? Would you care to post that in the Photo thread? How did you meet her?
Hi Cyberspace,
yes I have LOTS of pics from her.....and NO i am NOT posting her here!!!!!!
If she ever find out i am dead meat. Decent latina grils do NOT like to have serious relationships with mongers...!!! Can you dig that? Besides that....only God might know what some guys on this site might do with that pic after I put it down here...!!
She is 165cm and has a great body with large tits and a good ass (trust me on this one) and as white as I am with dark brown hair.
I am talking about a SERIOUS girl here...steady job, middle class family,speaks/understand english...so she is NOT a SW or a "mujer de la calle"...if you know what I mean. you CAN actualy find SERIOUS women in the DR....just learn spanish and keep your eyes open and dress sharp and don't act like a complete moron and you be fine. It helps to avoid large turistic areas.....;-)
I meet her on amigos.com and we chatted for several months before i went to visit her in the DR. On amigos.com you can find ALSO lots of *****s,adventure girls and your average golddigger. BUT you have to understanbd the "signs".....that is IF you think a girl is serios she might be a golddigger or a *****. And if you think she is a ho...she MIGHT turn out a serious girl!! You have to understand spanish and know something about their culture....I never said it would be easy to find one....but they are out there!
The great part is that she told me IF she had her period I could go out and f*ck another girl...as long as she didn't find out or hear about it from smd she'd know!!!!! Having a fling with another (normal) woman once every now and then is totaly accepted (as long as you do NOT overdo it)......BUT that is something else then go MONGERING!!!! She knows that many DR girls like forreign man. (and not only for the $$$) She has to live with that. If I would bring her HERE I'd know every guy on the fucking street was checking her out too...!!!
Wow....I realy love her man.....:-)
I hope you understand my point of view.

Dear Dominican Replublic resident,
I am leaving the U.S. for a year or so to live in the Dominican Republic or other such exotic place (I'm taking a year off to think, meditate, reflect, relax, complete my thesis, maybe play a little guitar, tell and listen to some funny stories, drink some margaritas's, etc.). Is there anyone living in an upscale place who will let me rent a room there? I prefer a residence with a live in maid and cook on the premise. Please reply in confidence. Thank you.

In my planning of my next DR trip, I thought about what would happen if my Visa check card (I have no real credit cards anymore) got lost or stolen and I had no money while down there. Could I Western Union myself a some emergency cash prior to going, and withdraw it in case I needed it? Would I need ID, or could I use the transfer number alone to get it?

You need the transfer number for sure, but definitely need ID and they are quite firm about a passport ... original, not photocopy.

I had requested and received a bunch of very useful information re mongering in DR on this site. Armed with the knowledge gained here, I made my first trip recently. I'll provide a detailed report of my mongering activities at a later time, but in the interim I wanted to warn everyone on this site of a widespread scam running at a number of casinos across DR. There is a game called "Super Keno", which at times is also referred to as "Caribbean Keno", offered at a number of casinos across DR. This game is a complete scam. The entire game is rigged and is mostly likely controlled by mafia. There is no way to win at this game, and the "dealers" running this game are expert con artists. I got scammed big time at the "Tropical Casino" in Playa Dorada. Upon my return to the US, I investigated on the web and learned that this an old, well know scam that continues to work on tourists. Additional information about this scam can be found at superkenoscam dot com.
I realize that this is off topic for this site, but figured it could save some poor sucker like myself a bundle of money. Given the nature and purpose of my trip, all of my research was done on this site only, and I did not run into any information on this scam here, though it seems to be a common knowledge to a lot of people around the web. It will be good if the moderator can find a way to prominently display a scam alert against this game within the DR forum of this board.
Hello to all:
I would like to know the best way to get from STI to Sosua during the early morning hours.
The flight that I may take arrives in the middle of the night, and I'm wondering if a bus is available at that time.
I would also like to know the e-mail address for the hotel Europa. Their website doesn't list the address, only a direct link. I want to use a secondary e mail provider.
Thanks, Sailor02

Caribe tours and Metro only work up until a certain time. Best bet would be to find a hotel in STI for the night (maybe find a pro for the night). First thing in the morning catch the 7am bus to Sosua. Bring a sweater or jcaket, the bus is freezing cold. Ride is smooth, on exiting walk away from the station and then pick up a cab a block away. (lower rates).

This is what forms are all about. No bashing, just the exchanging of experiences and sharing. Thanks for making it happen everyone.
Now to pricing...
Girls will love to get 1500 pesos short in the day and 2,000 pesos for the night. They can be brought down to 1000 and 1500 respectively if you are fair but firm. Being nice and sociable helps too.
Experiences will always be subject to time, need, etc. They may not budge in price at times and sometimes, you get what you pay for.

If the question were: "What are general forums for?", then you might be correct. But now let me pose a more specific question to you: What are PHOTO threads for?
I reply in the same thread where the original question was asked to make it easier for the poster.
Get a life. You've always been stuck on this post this there, post it here crap.
Get on with it or email the webmaster and apply to become a moderator.

Do you have any pictures? Just a question ... no need for irrational tantrums as I seem to get from SOME here.
Greetings to all:
I just purchased a round trip ticket from Bos/Prov to SDQ for $320US online on Spirit's website. I was looking into flights to POP, but prices were at least 200-300 more. Other airlines flying into STI were arriving in the middle of the night. All of this was just too much hassle for me, so I'll return to BC.
I plan on staying in BocaChica to take in some scuba diving and the company of chicas. I know that the reports coming from there recently are poor, but others who have posted not too long ago have had good experiences. The girls couldn't have just vanished into thin air. I think that they are just underground a bit.
I was there last winter in Feb (after the crackdown) and had a very nice time. I don't care much for the nightlife. I prefer to hunt during the day, and set things up for that night. I may head into the capital this time, in an effort to expand my horizons.
Wish me luck, Sailor02

Is it possible to rent a car at 2:15 am in Santiago when Jet Blue flights land? The fares are good and renting a car is the norm for me, but I don't want to be stuck at the air port until 8 or 9.
thanks to any one who can help me with this.

You can rent a car but they don't open untill 7am. I did this last August. I flew in with Jetblue @ about 4:30am, breazed thru customs just to wait 2 hours, with nothing to do, for them to open. It's ok, if you don't mind the wait...

Take a cab for about 200-300 pesos to the nearest cabana and sleep for 4-6 hours or hit the nearby ***** houses then sleep if you want, THEN drive to where ever it is you want to go.
Cabana rates are from 500-900 pesos for that time frame.
Driving at that time is suicide if you go from santiago to sosua.

I don't post questions about Boca Chica is a section not called Boca Chica. You might not get responses if people don't read the sections with the wrong names.
There is a lot of very recent info in the Boca Chica section and truly you are likely to get an answer from someone with an interest in that town, or who is reporting on recent visits. What's left of it this year that is.
And true to this point, there is a good report from EZE_Amante yesterday as an example.
NB: Since you need to pay for your own room, meals, drinks and girls and since you walk everywhere in Boca Chica how would the cost splitting work?
At least the peso is up to nearly 33:1.

Is it possible to travel to bb palace from Santo Domingo? What type of cost would it take to get there. Im planning my first trip and Im not sure if I should stay at the palace or in SD? The palace seems like it would be good for a first time experience but Im not sure how much it would take to get there from SD.
Thanks for any help
One can always take Caribe Tours from santo domingo to sosua or puerto plata. The cost would be about 280 pesos one way I believe and the bus runs every 30 minutes or 1 hour starting at around 6am. The last bus leaves at 6pm I think. Don't quote me on the departure times though.
The bus will leave you in Los Charamicos, which is only 5 minutes from Sosua. From Los Charamicos, take a taxi or moto-concho. A taxi will cost 150-200 pesos and a moto-concho will cost about 30-50 pesos. They will be all over once the bus stops.
The peso is about 32.80 to 1 USD lately.

I have been going to the DR for about 4 yrs now(about 9-10 Trips ). I have done the Sousa thing pop thing and have ventured into santo domingo and Santiago. My question has always been about if you are a ex-pat or are in the DR for longer than 4 to 5 weeks at a time and have a novia here how do you make the determination that the women you are with is not on some selling ass by the pound shit? I consider myself somewhat smart on spoting women who are hustling for a buck and genuine women (this is in the states) women in the DR (especially Sousa and Pop )i have estimated that a lot of them (not all) are down for the peso and that is the bottom line it is what it is . The reason why this question is being raised is the last couple of trips I have made to PoP I have run into girls that have not asked for any money. Now before you get started on me I do not believe that I have the magic dick or something they have been with me for 4 or 5 days and havent asked for a thing. For example this being the most extreme case one night me and this young lady went to the casino I did give her about 2500 pesos to play(feeling guilty for not giving her anything so far) whatever while i was on the blackjack table, She looked kind of suprised at me and went on her way, anyway she is playing craps or roulette she seems to be doing ok i am losing my shirt on the blackjack table anyway i break even after about 11/2 she comes over gives me my 2500rd back plus another 1500rd. Now I know many of you are reading this are like this mofo is lying but i am dead serious. I know women in the states w good 9 to 5s that wouldnt do that, so now i am little confused. Anyway after a couple of days and i am getting ready to leave and i give her like 5000 pesos. She looks a little suprised but takes it anyway. So now i am on the plane like "what the fuck just happenend? " I have asked some of my fellow mongers that i know but most are new to the DR scene and cant give me any insight. Like i said i have done the rounds in this town POP and Sousa and lately i have been running into a couple of girls like this any advice would be helpful. Thanks
Don't struggle with this good fortune yet unless they give you good casue to raise a suspicious eye brow. Play the role, enjoy the good times, and continue to treat them nice.
I've spent months at time down in D.R. Most recently spent 5 months down. Some do end up really liking you and are good women. The majority you meet in the game are in it for the pesos.

Hi there,
How long have you known this girl? Wow, so she gave you the 2,500 back and an extra 1500 that she won?!? Wow.
Have you kept in touch with her since you left the DR? Has she asked for anything since? If no, then so far, so good. :)
I met a girl at the Acropolis Mall in Santo Domingo. She is very cute. I have talked with her for a week now and so far, she has asked for nothing. She only wants help with English.
Most girls ask for money or help a few hours after they meet us!!! lol

Hi there,
Wow, she does sound like a very nice girl. Congratulations. Lucky you!! :)
You should change your name to dA_Happy_and_Lucky_Guy :)
Why should a normal girl ask for money?
Of course she can wait for some presents, but what she wants is just to live a love story. And a love story with an American or an European, that's something new, something more interesting for some latinas than to go out with latinos....And there is the hope, that he would one day marry her....
I went out with 3 girls from S.A., 2 from Peru and 1 from Brasil. None of them have asked me for money. And I didn't stay with them only a few days. In Peru I had 2 girlfriends at the same time during about 2 months and in Brasil 4 weeks....Furthermore I am still in contact with the 3 of them....
Of course we went out for lunch or I gave her some small presents before my departure, but no money for the time, that I spent with them....Why should I?
Did a boyfriend pay his girlfriend when he goes out with her? He pay for the meals, but he has no reason to give her money....
The way look at it she hasnt asked for anything yet, but if she does i probably would send her 100us or 150us just to see if she asks for it again that little bit of money will buy a piece of mind and know what you are dealing with "if walks like a duck and quacks like a duck its a duck". If she starts with that "mi Bambinos/madre sick BS" i will really be disappointed becase she had me question this thing.I would hope she would be more original and come up with at least something I could at least post and say "thats is some original shit". Also I havent really lost anythig all the times that i have come to the DR and she has cooked sucked and fucked me. I am coming out of it at about a $4-$10us a day and that is if ever send her anything. It is a no lose situation. I will enjoy the ride but i never close my eyes.

Keep a keen eye brotha! I mean, almost every girl I've tatooed in Sosua over my last 5 visits talks to me about her novia and how they are coming to see them and sending them money, yada yada yada. I always use that as an excuse to pay them less!
Anyhow, keep a keen eye...its hard to love these girls...especially from a place like Sosua...not to sound prejudiced, but its like loving a girl from a terma in Rio...can you turn a ho into a housewife...not my kind of endeavor. At first hint of asking for the paper...bounce. They want that love story sh*t, but at the end of the day, they want money...or 'security' which can be translated into long-term money.
Now if she worked in a supermarket, that's different!

Keep in mind, local flights within the DR are about $90 each way, in a prop plane. Kinda fun, and you get to skip the AWFUL bus rides.

Get a taxi from the airport to the Caribe Tours bus stop. Might cost about 200-300 pesos. I dont "think" they stop at the airport, but that would be nice if they did. You can always ask personnel at the airport. It is 5 hours and the ride will cost about 280 pesos one way.

Received several PM's about domestic flights in the DR
Most days, you can fly anywhere in the DR for about 80-100usd, there are several small airlines that fly twin engine prop planes. Flight times are 30 minutes to one hour. Baggage is a little restricted. If you are traveling alone, this makes more sense than taking a 5 hour, $120 cab by yourself from one end of the island to the other, e.g. from Sto Domingo to Puerto Plata or Sosua, but of course the bus is much cheaper. Depends on how you value your time and comfort. Note that the International airport in Sto Domingo is NOT the same as the domestic airport, about a $20 cab ride from one to the other, but the domestic a/p is actually closer to DT Sto Domingo, about an $8 cab ride from the Malecon area. See:
http://www.aerodomca.com/English/english.html
Good info on domestic flights. Domestic flights are out of Herrera airport. They are not scheduled too regularly. . . .only a few flights per day etc. so while the flight may be only 3045 minutes if you need to wait 2 hours for the next flight. . .Caribe Tours doesn't look so bad!
I would like to take one of the Domestic Flights to Samana as that is harder to reach than POP etc. . . . .
heck I just checked their schedule and they don't even fly to POP. They only fly to Samana Portillo. Since Caribe Tours has buses leaving every hour for POP and costs less than 10 bucks. . . .

He he he he. . .on my last trip I flew into STI and took caribe tours to SDQ. . . .then a few days later caribe tours to Sosua. Stayed in Sosua a week and took Caribe tours back to SDQ and finally the day before my flight home caribe tours back to STI. . . .
In Sosua I had an amiga from STI come up and spend the day with me at the beach. . .she went home the same night but when I went to meet her at the bus stop a cute chica got off right before she did. . . .
When I was leaving to go to SDQ, I got on the bus and sat in the second seat as the bus was still empty. 2 seconds later the cutey that was on the same bus as my amiga sat next to me. . . the bus was EMPTY so I knew the deal. . . .
I was just watching out the window on our trip but my new friend kept starting a conversation. Asking me where I was from, where I was staying etc. She went to Sosua for a job interview but didn't like the place so was headed back to SDQ.
She tried to et off the bus in POP to get some food and offered to buy me breakfast. I said no thanks plus the driver wouldn't let her off the bus. At the first stop in STI we both got off the bus. I bought some munchies and she bought lunch. . . .once back on the bus she said I should take her cell number and call her once I am in SDQ. . . .I started putting my hand in my pocket to get my cell and she handed me a piece of paper with her number already written on it. Smooth. . . .
Later on I made a cell call and she asked me my number. . . .I played dumb and said I just bought the phone used and didn't even know my number. She took the phone went through the menu and entered my number in her cell. . . . lol. . .
I never called her as I was busy getting to know a nice girl I had met on a previous trip but she called me four times. . . . .

I'm weighing taking Caribe Tours vs. Taxi from SDQ to Sosua. Does anyone know costs and travel time for each ? Any preferences?
Thanks
The difference in cost is quite a bit. Caribe tours is under 10 bucks while taxi may be $150 or more. email www.taxidominicano.com for a current price.
If you have been to the DR before or speak decent spanish, Caribe Tours is fine.
A taxi from SDQ to Caribe Tours would probably cost $25-$30, Caribe Tours to Sosua under $10. . . . .
Obviously travel time by taxi is a bit shorter but Caribe tours runs buses to Sosua every hour and the bus only makes 4 stops. La Vega, Santiago for 2 stops, and then Puerto Plata before hitting Sosua. Then you can take a taxi from Caribe tours into El batey in Sosua which is where the main drag is. . . or if you are traveling light, take a moto concho.
I am trying to plan a trip into Dominican saw some cheaper flights and saw some expensive. Just want to know where is the best place to fly into. Dont want to fly in and be far away from all the action. Also not being familiar with the area and not knowing spanish so I thought I would ask. Santo Domingo was the cheaper one is that a good city to go to? Is it good to fly into and go to a closer city? what are my best options for a first timer to the Island.

By bus, it would be around 5 hours. The bus will make stops in Santiago and POP.
By taxi, I'd say four hours to four hours and thirty minutes. But it is quite expensive. If I were you, I'd take the bus. The bus has large comfortable seats, A/C, movies, a bathroom, and a chance to meet up with a girl. ;)

Santiago: You need to know Spanish in order to have fun in this city. This city is a 2-hour drive north of Santo Domingo. It is the 2nd largest city in the DR. The women here are most beautiful (in my eyes lol :)). Most women are light-skinned.
The adult clubs such as Passion and Illusion charge around 3,000 for an all-nighter. But I did not find a single girl that spoke English.
Santo Domingo: A nice place to hook up with non-pros. But again, you need to know Spanish in order to hit on them.
The massage parlors here are quite expensive. There are a few girls who speak okay English.
The clubs and bars in Santo Domingo are very nice.
Sosua: I have never been to this city before. So hopefully someone else can answer it.
The only place in DR that I have visited is Sosua, and it is a very friendly place to non-spanish speaking tourists. Based on the description of Santiago and Santo Domingo below, I would say that Sosua is definitely a much better bet for a non-spanish speaking person. Also, the abundance of girls in a relatively small city/town makes for easy interactions.

Thanks for the info. Very helpful. What is the best City to fly into for first timer. I am going to learn more spanish I know its needed. I know some basics but going to pick up more. Just want to go an experience the island. If anyone else has some useful info let me know.
Thanks again New World Order
I am looking into flights to Santo Domingo. There appears to be 2 airports in town. Which is the one most commonly used?
Also, is Santo Domingo the best city to look for the ladies for a first timer to the Dominican Rep.?

........the most common airport used is Las Americas Airport (code: SDQ) it is larger - has almost 3x the runway capacity as Herrera Intl (code:HEX) Much more volume.
IMO, a newbie should tackle the north coast first. Sosua, Cabarete.
It is more user friendly, and on a percentage basis has a much higher number of US, European players "milling around" that will be willing to point you in the right direction.
The capital is a big town!

You are correct! :)
For those who speak Spanish, then head to Santo Domingo and Santiago. These two cities have very beautiful non-pros.
From Santo Domingo to Santiago, you can take the Metro Bus. Its only 250 pesos. The bus has A/C, comfortable and adjustable seats, and a bathroom. And the chance to meet a girl in the bus during your 2-hour trip!

Your very welcome! :)
In post #664, Ford has answered your question.
It depends on your level of Spanish. Santo Domingo and Santiago are great cities to meet up with non-pros. But you need to be able to speak in Spanish.
I have never been to Sosua. But I heard you will have no problem with the language barrier because many of them speak English. And like Ford has said, there will be many foreign tourists who can help you out! :)
Remember to stay at a hotel that has a safe. Put all of your important belongings in a safe such as your credit cards, passport, camera, etc.
Santo Domingo is a legitimate international business destination and afer DR-CAFTA is passed I have no doubt it will also be home to many multi-nationals and busines conglomerates.
As such, "our" hobby is wide-spread and is generally tolerated but takes a back seat to various legitimate business ventures such as tourism and other service and manufacturing related ventures.
Sosua and Cabarete is home to many quality all-inclusive hotels and is an enjoyable family vacation destination for both Europeans, Americans and Dominicans However, Sosua and Cabarete has developed (for better or worse) an internationally known reputation for prostitution. It is rampant in the salida bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels (heck, if you can speak any Spanish you can even pick up the check-out girls at the Playero Supermarket or the waitress wherever you eat your lunch! :D)
On a "per capita" basis there may not be a greater proliferation of working girls per tourist anywhere on the earth outside of Amsterdam and the Philippines. As a result of this, there is a continuous stream of agreeable, American and European "players" who will be happy to take you under their wing and show you the ropes.
I can't stress enough that none of the girls can speak a word of English! Its the atmosphere and monger-tourist that make Sosua "user-friendly". The girls are generally pleasant enough and can be very gfe but they aren't going to be speaking English. Don't expect this.
The one rather sad paradox of the Dominican Republic is that although many parts of the country have a "trampled-through" feel to them because of the tremendous number of International tourists that arrive at its shores every year - the percentage of English speaking residents is very small. This is unquestionably a product of a poor, underfunded and underdeveloped education system - perhaps one of the worst in the western hemisphere.
I have traveled to 12 latin american countries and the English speaking ability of the indigenous Domincan people is the worst of them all. I mean to be honest people in Nicaragua, Honduras and Venezuela are as poor as church mice but even they laugh at the education system in the Dominican Republic!
I have traveled to Sosua 5 times, had a novia there and she introduced me to probably around 8-10 of her girlfriends. Some were working in the "business" other weren't. I'd be suprised if there were 20 English words between the whole group!
Santo Domingo is a city of 3 million, it is a city that is very difficult to chop down into bite sized pieces and (IMO) is not a good first time/newbie place. Sosua on the other hand is a small town with a couple of main roads and after a few days you'll feel right at home! Follow the "monger-crowd" around at about 10pm and they'll show you the way!
(You can trust me, mates - I've been known to give out some good advice from time to time!) ;)
cheers,
FORD
Hi,
I noticed there is no info that comes up in a "dentist" search, but several travel sites say that many people go there for "dental tourism" ... So, can those of you who've used a DR dentist or know the email or tel. of dentists anywhere there, please post the info for those of us who are dentally-challenged and in need of help.
Thanks

You might want to look at some "legitimate" non-monger DR sites such as:
Sosuadominicanrepublic@yahoogroups.com
The latter is a group of DR fans living in and out of the country.
Most are ex-pats living in the Sosua/PP area.

The longtime bartender at Rocky's in Sosua is Ted. He is Canadian, and has been a resident for about nine years.
He was telling me that last year he had all his teeth yanked and a set of dentures made, for an incredibly low price. I forget how much he told me, but I'm sure he would share the info with you.
His address is www.rockyted@hotmail.com. Good luck!

Thanks for the contact in the DR. Although I am certain that toothless Ted could give the silkiest BBBJ on the island, I think I will refrain from contacting him. :-))

I am planning to go to the DR in March and feel like I need to brush up in the slang of the DR.
I have been to many spanish speaking countries and have found that to each country his own slang.
If someone can recomend something to ease the transition it would be much appreciated.
I have seen the "alternative spanish speaking dictionary" but alot of that applies to SA and CA.
Thanks,

Anyone know of a credit card (visa) that doesn't charge you extra when you use the damn thing out of the US???? Seems everyone wants a piece of the pie, and my pie is for the ladies. M&M

Cute response, but I don't think this guy would be interested in blowing you, or anybody else. He's totally straight, and has a long line-up of women waiting to service him.
The comment was made for STRADDLER, who is looking for a local dentist.
I've used all the major bank credit cards and they all charge a few dollars for the currency conversion if I remember correctly. However, just a few dollars each time. Somewhere around 2% of the total transaction to convert plus any finance charges??? It isn't much for the convienence that you get.
I strictly cash checks, use the ATM, or use my bank debit card or PayPal debit card. Double check with your credit card company on the transaction cost I suppose.
If you must use your credit card everywhere you go, I suppose you may want to consider staying at an all inclusive and then just paying the 200-300 pesos for a quickie hotel each time plus your fun.

Hey guys, for those who plan to use your credit card in the DR, call your credit card company (before you leave for the DR) and tell them that you plan to use it.
One time, I used my VISA credit card and because of the security I had with it, I was unable to use it in the DR. So I had to call my credit card company and tell them that I was going to use it in the DR.
I have notified the bank (via email because they dont seem to loose the proof as easy as a phone call). But I shouldn't have to pay the assholes anything to use the credit card. I am giving them business, they are charging the business I am using the card at, for them to have a machine. They are like blood sucking wifes...that suck you dry...then leave you. I was hoping that someone would have a man friendly...country friendly credit card. Like I always say.... my money is my play money, M&M
I was looking at the DR for a trip this year. I noticed that there is not a crime section on the board for this country. Can I safely assume that it is because the country is relatively safe?
I am also attracted to women that are considered to be "morena clara", will I find plenty of them in the DR?
Last question, for anyone that has been to Rio, is this a destination that will be as enjoyable?
I'm a big fan of the DR coming from new york there is this mutual understanding of our cultures which brings me closer to people than most foreigners.I love the music and I also know enough spanish.I find that they treat you how you treat them.I can only speak about the north coast I've heard the south can be a little rough since it's next to santo domingo.
There are credit card and atm scams so bring travelers checks and try to find a hotel with in room safes.I also recommend to set up a taxi to pick you up at the airport .Dress down but dont over do it.
Sosua at night can be rough especially if your out to monger be careful of the hatian girls if thats your thing.I've heard stories firsthand that they have knifes etc.Be careful where you use your credit card.
Most of all make an effort to be courteous and you will meet some really nice people.I find dominicans to be very welcoming like mexicans.
The girls are pretty dark (yum!) even darker in the south dont expect to find light skinned honeys selling themselves. It's all about skin tone in the DR The darker you are the less respect you get and the lower you are on the income ladder. If your a light skinned guy going for dark meat you come out on top because you elevate them to a more important level(being seen with a white guy etc.)Suerte
Sosua is very safe. Nothing to worry about here. I prefer Dominicanas myself, but most Haitianas are okay too, just stay away from the street rats.
Artisttyp,
Don't know you, and don't really care what color you are. You need to get a grip. Go back and read your report you sound like a BIGOT a fancy name for a$$. I have slept with as many light skin chicas as well as dark skin chicas and they all only see green. "Elevate themselves with being with a white guy". Let me give it to you straight. Less dick, more money from white guys, more dick and less money from the black guys. You have a nice day. Ps I feel safer in Sousa than I do in my home town.

I was looking at the DR for a trip this year. I noticed that there is not a crime section on the board for this country. Can I safely assume that it is because the country is relatively safe?Yes, it is pretty safe. There are, of course, some places it's best to stay away from, but I imagine that's true of where you live also. If you stick to the tourist areas, your biggest concern will probably be pickpockets, and most of them women at that. Take the necessary precautions.
I am also attracted to women that are considered to be "morena clara", will I find plenty of them in the DR? Dominican and Haitian women range from extremely dark to very light in skin color. If by "morena clara" you mean a coffee 'n cream or caramel complexion (very nice, by the way), you can find many.
Last question, for anyone that has been to Rio, is this a destination that will be as enjoyable?I've never been to Rio, so cannot give an informed opinion. From everything I've read or heard, though, the scene in DR is much smaller and lower-keyed. Then again, how many girls can you screw at once?

The color that matters the most to every one down there is the dollars/euros/pesos you have in your pockets no matter what color you are. Now lets get back to talking about mongering.

Good tip NWO! THis same exact thing happened to me on a trip to Venezuela. Citibank is notorious for doing this. They cancel your credit card "For your protection!"
As if stranding you in a foreign country with no funds is a personal favor to you! Good advice!
Notify them where you'll be to avoid headaches.
The only bad thing I have to say about latin countries is that there is obvious discrimination between darker and lighter shades. Not everyone goes down that road but it's there. I wont go into any further detail but those who travel to alot of latin countries will understand.
Most important "I dont like it" I'm just aware of it.I still think if your light skinned going for dark women in the DR your ahead of the game just like I cant get any sloppy german snatch when I'm in jamaica.

Our looks also do not matter.

Yeah guys, before you depart for your destination, make sure you call your credit card company and inform them that you will be using it.
As for your debit card (if you plan to make withdrawals from an ATM machine), make sure what fees will apply. Every bank has different fees.

Hi there,
Really? If you felt discriminated, then I am sorry to hear about that.
I'm Asian. I have only been to the DR and I never felt any type of discrimination. I just wish they charged me less. lol
Take care.
Leave your credit cards home! From the US take a bundle of 1 dollar bills, you always need ones. If you do not like cash bring traveler checks. There is various credit card scams and you never know.
With probably 20 trips to the DR I can think of no scenario where a pocket full of one dollar bills would come in handy, quite the opposite actually, If you need to use credit card there just take one and call the credit card company ahead of time. Generally I just carry cash and an ATM card as most hotels have safes or lockboxes in room. Change dollars to pesos as you need them.
I am sorry if your method of cash disposal is different than mine. Dollar bills come in handy for everything from beer to motos. The US dollar is also nice to distribute.
I am sorry if your method of cash disposal is different than mine. Dollar bills come in handy for everything from beer to motos. The US dollar is also nice to distribute. You are right i suppose, to each there own, questions however, you are at the beach and say have 2 beers which comes to say 80 pesos, how many dollar bills do you give? Something else, motoconchos you pay them as well in dollars? So at the end of the day they have to make a trip to casa de cambios to cash in what is probaly the only one dollar bill they recieved that day. My personal preference is to just but pesos as i need them and pay with pesos, it is much more easifor to me as well as the vendors who pay their bills in pesos.
The problem arises when it is time to pay for your bill at a bar or for the moto. 1 USD = 34.20 pesos right now. If you are counting your pesos while visiting D.R., just know that a ride on a moto is 20 pesos. Some might say... "What is another 14 pesos?" ... well, if you use them 3 times a day for 7 days or any length of time, it can take away from your cash on hand. Also, bars and other places don't always convert your dollars in your favor. They may just very well give you 32 or 33 pesos to the dollar when the rate is actually at 34.
Just wanted to shed some more light on the subject.
See everyone when I see them.
MISTER NYC :D
I'm a big fan of bringing small change like $ bills and 5's to countries like the DR.You dont use them for everything but then you dont have to go through the no change scenario.Ones and fives are priceless just be firm with your exchange rate and dont let people nickel and dime you.If they dont like it walk away. Most banks and exchange places have current conversion rates posted outside their establishment...look to the banks more so than the exchange shops.
I also bring my pfp budget in twenties.I find using $'s with chicas to be more lucrative since they might be able to get a better rate for them with their own people when buying stuff.
BEWARE of credit card scams in the DR.One guy I met got shafted by a BANK in sosua...they stole his number from the machine he used to withdraw cash.Travelers checks and a little cash are the best ideas I think.
I just bought a travel safe online for $35 which I will lock in a suitcase then chain that to something. It's not full proof but it does get rid of petty thiefs. If they really wanted to get in they could but with alot of effort and destruction which would cause too much attention.Do a google search for travel safes many websites offer them.Pm me if you want more info.Happy smutting.

I've always used credit cards in the DR and never had a problem - having said this, you should always have your credit cards insurance up to date before you use them abroad, just in case.

The whole $1 bill thing I thought was more an urban myth. The posts pointing out how inadequate they are when you really need $1.50 or .75 is bang on. Since the local currency is in fact not the dollar at all, buying their currency at the hundreds of cambios is more useful advice.
Does anybody know when Carnival is?
What are the dates in SDQ and STI?
Go to www.******** or do a google search for carnival in santiago or go to a book store and look it up in a dominican republic travel book.I think it's in about a week or two but dont take my word on it.
Does anybody know when Carnival is?
What are the dates in SDQ and STI?
http://www.dr-tourist.tv/pages/carnaval.html
Shows some video from Carnaval. Santiago is not one of the best places to experience Carnaval and neither is santo domingo.
La Vega is the biggest and best Carnaval and Bonao is coming on strong. I have heard that Constanza as well is trying to become famous for having a great carnaval.
Carnaval is usuually every sunday in february. In la vega they are also doing a special parade on 27 of february which is a monday I believe. February 27 is Dominican Independence day.
One of the first weekends in march they hold a big parade in santo domingo where carnaval groups from all over the DR come and parade down the malecon.
That link I supplied has video of carnaval from la vega, bonao, and the parade in santo domingo as well as a live concert in STI during carnaval.
I should add that in santo domingo there is usually a big parade on feb 27th as well but it is a VERY boring military parade. . . . .better off skipping it.
La Vega is a short gua gua ride from STI, so go to la vega for the day and return to STI in the evening to hang out at El Monumento where they usually have free outdoor concerts during carnaval.
Any info on La Romana and or Bayhibe? will be there in May? Anything at all will help. Thanks.

Wow, I see the elves have been at work here. I guess Travel Addict, Sabor, Ford and Prtyr2 have achieved a kind of immortality, since their names will appear on the front page in perpetuity.
But when will there be a "Places to Stay" thread, so we don't have to keep posting the same info for guys who are too lazy to search back three pages?

I think he's referring to the fact that Jackson has created a "locked" archived report section at the bottom of the DR board - and the last report in each section just happened to be submitted by us so are names are sort of forever "locked into" the front page of this board.
Victor, I think your idea is a good one! A "places to stay thread" would be a good idea and also I have been suggesting a "living in the DR" thread for some time as well.
Throwing around some prices of condos or villas that recently went up for sale or ideas on which ex-pat communities offer good safety and value for purchase - I thought would be a valuable resource as well.
cheers.............

I am in full support for a thread on living in the DR. Visiting the Dr and living there are two very different things. I personaly in the past few months have been setting up things to spend half of my time there in the DR and the other half here in the states. The expreience is fun but also very eye opening.
I have done my research on the Cuba board, but I figured I'd check here. I'd like to take a flight to Cuba through a third country. I've heard it has become a little risky traveling there from Mexico or Canada. Has anyone taken a flight from the DR to Cuba?
I'd like to combine a week in the DR with a week in Havana. I'd guess that the Dominican authorities are less likely to share their travel logs out of the DR to a third country with the US authorities.
Thanks for any info you can share.
Great post on cuba.Everything I wanted to know and more info than I've gotten from people who have gone....really appreciated.

Hey everyone,
I am a big fan of this site. You guys deliver great information about these different countries. I need to know what are the best cities in the DR to travel to. I will be heading to the DR in early June with a buddy of mine. We are young guys looking to enjoy some sun and meet plenty of fine chicas.
Thanx in advance.
Well I must say you guys played a big role in a gift I am giving myself from may 14 to may 22 at BB's. Thank god I did some research and found out what horrible and overpriced expereinces some have had on Margarita Island. I have read as much as I can with all the info here. I am a newbie with a great education. I love the hunt!!!!!!! I wanted to see if any of the guys that had posted will be in the DR during my trip. Look forward to meeeting other into hunting the wild gato's of the DR. Any advice will be welcome. I really want to check out the strip club scene and do some hunting on the beaches. Any advice on this will be greatly appreciated.

When packing be sure to include a bottle opener. They do not have twist tops on the local brews and all of the hotels do not have openers in the room. Cheapest to by brewskies at the grocery store and putting it in your room fridge. I resorted to the door handle on the closet in my room to pry off the caps.

I cannot drink alcohol so I was gonna get some booze for the room, in addition to whatever is in the wet bar. I figure that will help with things with potential guests. I heard in other posts the girls like tequila. Probably cheaper than getting it at the bar. I go there (BB's) in about a month for my rookie trip so any one else that has tips keep them comming. Any advice on specific BB girls would help too.

Yes, you'll need to bring an abridor (opener) with you on your trips to latin america because in many of the hotels around the western hemisphere they do NOT have bottle openers in the room.
The reason I'm posting this is "Jenks, were you really able to get the top off your beer using the door handle?" (lol) :D
I remember a couple of years back I brought 4 Imperials (Imperial Beer is the national beer of Costa Rica) back to my room in San Jose one afternoon. Now if you guys have ever been there (San Jose) you know then that it is quite the town for degenerates - many bars are open 24 hours and everybody around gringo gulch is half "in the bag" by 10am!
So I got this buzz going, its about 5pm, I just had dinner and I figured I'm going to have a few more, then take a nap and then go "hunting" by around 10pm. I forgot the damn bottle opener.:(
You know how when you get your taste buds and whole body ready for a beer and then for whatever reason you can't have it? Well, you get really pissed!
So there I am stumbling around the room in my underwear - slamming the G ' damn bottle into everything I can think of to try to get it open! I jammed it under the door, behind the handle, between the bureau drawers, whacked it on the air conditioner and finally wedged it around the sink faucet. No luck!
I had to call downstairs and get an abridor. Any man who can open a beer bottle by using a door handle is a "master monger" in my book! :D
FORD :)
I can attest to the remark that Sailir02 made about Spirit Air...except that the fair is now down to $159 each way from Chicago to DR for July 2006.

Can you get viagra in DR without a prescription?
Can you get viagra in DR without a prescription?
Yes, you can. It is easily available in all the pharmacies and some bodega type stores. A bodega is a local grocery store for those of you who do not know. The brand name will cost about 250 pesos while the generic kind will cost about 150 pesos. Some spots on the beach in Sosua will sell the generic brand at 80-100 pesos.
Put it to good use!
MISTER NYC :D
Can you get viagra in DR without a prescription? You can buy a generic Cialis called LaPela at any pharmacist for 100 pesos for two tablets. One tablet works well for me for two days, though YMMV. I have spoken to, or read reports by, a dozen or more guys. Everyone agrees with me that it is as good as the original at a fraction of the price and has no bad effects. (So far!).
The same goes for Vita V. I stocked up on generic Viagara while I was in Santo Domingo in April. Its a plain blue pill with the number "100" printed on one side, but no other markings. It is the same size (obviously) and same basic shape as Pfizer's pill but at a fraction of the cost.
As I recall the package had a "bucking bronco" (honest) :D on the front and the words "hecho en la República Dominicana" under it.
Works fine, just about the same and for maybe %33 of the price.

Hello all,
What resort area have the best location for white girls? Doesn't matter if they are white or from normal tan to dark tan girls?I don' t think you are in the good section.
Best place for that is caucase!
Hello all,
What resort area have the best location for white girls? Doesn't matter if they are white or from normal tan to dark tan girls?
The lightest skinned girls in the country (if this is your thing) can generally be found in the northern city of Santiago. Some real stunners up there! :)
Santo Domingo (the capital) has a wide range of girls available - from very dark to light. It has w/o a doubt the best selection of quality and quantity.
The somewhat darker skinned girls are available in towns like Boca Chica and San Pedro de Macoris.
Of course this is just "generally" speaking you have to really explore the country to get a good sense of what place you like the best!
cheers.................
Hello fellow members.
Shall be in Sousa for the first time 28th June for one week only.
It shall be my first time in DR although I have traveled to Thailand a good few times.
I am booked into the Europa for the duration of my stay. Now I am under the impresion I should be paying 1500- 2500 DP for a all night olympic style session with my chosen darling of the night. Someone please feel free to correct me.
I understand there are a good few bars near my hotel, would someone like to point out some places I should not miss?
Would also like some reccomendations of some cheap and chearfull eateries.
Well I seem to have covered women and food, so the only important question is how much is a beer?
Please feel free to give as much info as possible. Been reading the board for a while and these questions are still playing with me.
Thanks in advance.

As soon as you walk outside the Europa, you can go right or left. If you go left, walk all the way down and on the right hand side you will eventually hit La Passions Massage. La Passions is nice around 4-5 when they change shifts and you can catch all the ones working at that outside bar. Sit down and have a drink and observe and "feel" your way around. The girls are lively and seem to be fun. You can pay the 900 pesos to take a girl back to the back room on site and she'll give you a so-so massage and a decent finish. Probably about a 3 minute walk and 4 blocks later. If you make a right, you hit Dominos Bar first, then Four Roses bar, and across the street, Bar Allegria. Pick and choose based on looks and comfort. Try all 3! You can normally pay a 500 pesos salida to take out a bartender from any of the bars in town or you can try to meet up with the chica when she gets off if you can wait.
Local dominican food can be had at Suzanna's, which is located right next to Bar Allegria. See note above about location. A plate of food will cost about 70 pesos. Freshly made juice is another 20 pesos. Your typical dominican dish will be your choice of beef, poultry, or pork with a side of white rice and beans and a small salad.
Beer at the bars start at 60 or 70 pesos for a local Presidente beer. The beer costs 35 pesos at the stores, but you are paying for the scenery of chicas and people walking by, etc.
Enjoy Bodfish. Maybe I'll run into you.

Gentlemen, a little illumination, please. Unlike some of the globetrotting mongers here, I’m a middle-aged guy whose career in this sport only started just over a year ago. So far, I’ve tried Canada (Toronto and Montreal) and the Dominican Republic (Santo Domingo, Boca Chica and Sosua). I kind of figured Costa Rica would be next on my list. (I’m inching out gradually, as you can see. I hope to get to Thailand by my 97th birthday).
Here’s the problem. My next vacation is the first two weeks of September and I’m torn between going to Costa Rica and heading back to the Dominican Republic.
From what I’ve read, CR seems to mostly mean San Jose, at least for a newbie without fluent Spanish. San Jose is a fairly sizeable city. In the DR, I spent some time in Santo Domingo, but mostly found that I enjoy Boca Chica and Sosua. In those small towns I can combine a beach vacation with the availability of some sweet, young, not too expensive female companionship.
From what I’ve read here and other places, the only place that sounds comparable in CR is Jaco, and most of what I’ve read about that place is negative (dirty beaches, so-so availability of girls, etc.). I have also seen the advice about finding a girl in SJ and taking her to some nicer beach area, but with my limited experience and Spanish, I don’t know if I could pull that off.
Another thing, the scene in SJ just seems a bit more formal, if you know what I mean. Most of the posts seem to center around the Blue Marlin or the various massage parlors. In Sosua, say, I can leave my hotel in the evening and walk down a half-mile or so long street with several open air chica bars and a couple of discos. I can take a seat in one of those bars and order a beer and in something less than a minute there will be a girl next to me asking if I’d like some company. There follows some talk, then some negotiation, and then it’s back to the hotel. I’ve also met girls at the beach with similar results.
From the posts I’ve read, I don’t sense this sort of loose atmosphere in SJO. I’ve done the massage parlor thing in the States and the escort deal in Canada. Both got the job done, but were more “professional” than the informal sort of hookup I find in the DR.
So, I guess my questions are directed to those who have experience with both Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. What are the pros and cons of each? Which do you prefer and why? Is there any compelling reason for me to try CR, other than variety? I know that it’s a beautiful country with lots of interesting things to see (so is the DR, by the way). What I’m looking for here is some feedback on the mongering aspects.
Why is CR next on your list? Guilt? :D
Your next vacation is in September. Hmmmm, the height of hurricane season in the DR. Bad choice. :(
But you want a relaxed beach vacation and you have limited Spanish.
What to do?!
Ever here of the island of Curacao? It is the "c" of the A-B-C islands in the Dutch southern caribbean.
Gorgeous women, relaxed beach vibe, ALL hotels are guest friendly, English widely spoken in hotels, restaurants, beaches and it is outside the hurricane zone so a late summer/fall vacation isn't going to get you wet.
You should consider it, and don't feel so guilty about not following the crowd. ;)
The spectacular view of the pool of the Curacao Marriott shot by yours truly - facing the ocean.
cheers mate............

Ford you are correct about Curacao being below the hurricane belt. However, I don't think that same atmosphere can be found in Curacao like in the DR. That relaxed walk down the street while lots of sexy chicas approach you in the middle of the day can not be found in Curacao (at least to my limited knowledge). Although GFE are widely available in Curacao you have to hit the Brothels like Campo. I have limited exprience in Curacao and had great times at the Campo. The only Chicas I saw walking were in otrobanda and Punda and these Chicas look so bad it was like asking for death if you touch them. That being said Curacao and St Maarten (not necessarily in that order) run a close second and third to the DR. But if it is Hurricanes you are worried about Curacao wins hands down.
Your next vacation is in September. Hmmmm, the height of hurricane season in the DR. Bad choice. :(When I read his thread, I was thinking the same thing.
Too cold to travel to Argentina or Brazil, hurricane season in the Caribbean...
perhaps... Colombia (Medellin or Cartagena)
-Helpmann ;)
Hiya Helpmann :)
Cartagena and Medellin are awesome places - I've been to both, but you really think these places are good choices with a guy with "limited Spanish"?
SJO is o.k.- I've been there 2x. - but its more like a long-weekend place. Not a real comfortable walkaround vibe for a guy with limited Spanish, unless you want to walk around "Gringo Gulch" from the Hotel Morazon to The Presidente to the Del Rey and step over the passed out vagos/desplazados who sleep on the sidewalk in front of the New York bar. ;)
Take a girl from Campo during the day to any of the islands 38 beaches and you'll have a total gfe to swim with, eat with, drink with, sun with and make love too.
No Curacao doesn't have the same exact vibe as the DR, but he said he wanted to try a new place, that's the point. The Sosua/ Cabarete/ North coast vibe in the DR is unique, but people should experience different places too.
You love the Sosua vibe, than go back to Sosua in Sept, but bring your rain gear! :D
cheers all..............

I agree with Ford. Having been, over the years, to SJO, Cartagena, DR, and Curacao, I would recommend Curacao for our friend Victor Lazlo. Though the reason is less that he has limited Spanish. Remember that all of the ladies at Compa Alegre come from Colombia, DR, or Venezuela; Spanish speakling places. He will still have need of Spanish to communicate well with the girls there. I recommend it as a new place to go and experience a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and races of girls at a low price and extreme convenience.

A blind mute could get laid in the DR however. The girls know "fuck" 'suck" and money in English, and if not if someone goes without knowing even numbers well the derserve what they get. It is not that hard to negotiate. Just as long as the "meet normal girls" (e.g. try to pay zero) dream/fantasy doesn't slip into the conversation.

Gentlemen, thank you all for your replies. Although nobody directly addressed the DR/CR comparison (except Ford a little bit, in his second post), it was very telling to me that no one here said “Hell yes, you should go to San Jose!” Equally telling was the fact that I received seven replies plus a couple of PMs in this forum, as opposed to one reply in the CR forum, and that one asking what sort of prices I pay.
My Spanish is limited but not non-existent. I am probably up to 300+ words now. I can speak in complete sentences and have even managed to pull off a couple of jokes (hard to do in a foreign language). I’m still a beginner, though. I don’t know the proper verb conjugations and frequently hesitate, thinking, “Now what the hell is the word for…” In conversation, I probably sound like a moron, but I eventually manage to make myself understood.
As for hurricane season, it never even crossed my mind, probably because I spent two weeks in DR last September and can’t even recall if it ever rained.
I enjoy the DR greatly. But after a half dozen extended trips in the last year and a half, I seem to be developing the “been there, done that” syndrome, a restlessness to know what else is out there. For the moment at least, I believe I will scratch CR off the list, to be replaced by Curacao and perhaps a bit later, Cartagena.
I’m inching out gradually, as I said before. Anyone care to meet up in Pattaya in 2047?
Victor,
You sound a lot like me, but at a little more advanced state. I seldom come out of the shadows here although I am here every day. i have read your post before. I have only posted here 2 or 3 times in the past. I was fortunate enough to get one of my post in the distinction category. That is a BIG Deal and honor for me. Yeah I am a simpleton. But your post is so indicative of my plans that it was scary. I too am Espanol challenged. I know a lot of words, just none of them go together right. But I too can usually get my point across. I have only been to the DR once, but I did 3/4 of the island. I hope to return in July or August. I will also try Jamaica and do the whole island also. They speak English or close to it so that will be fun. As I don have the Big bucks and little vacation left it becomes hard to venture far. I ultimately want to make it to Thailand. Ths the top for me. Well keep asking the questions I need answers to. Maybe i will come out of the shadows a bit more. Thanks to all the veterans again, some of you have amazing patience in answering the same questions over and over because the newbies like me will not read the historical threads to see if the answer is there already to their question. Teach on!

Victor 300 words is a lot and shows you are making an effort. No not enough to date a good college girl but enough to get the point across and they apprecaite the effort as well, even P4P girls.
If you learn just present, imperfect (vs. preterite and imperfect which is better) , and subjunctive forms of say these verbs, you will sound near expert:
Ser and estar (to be)
Ver (see)
Ir (go) and irse (go away)
Venir (come)
Tomar (take and also drink like a beer)
Comer (eat)
Chupar and Cingar (suck and fuck, of course :) )
Dormir (sleep)
Ducharse (Shower)
Tener (have)
Gustar (to like - you have to learn the proper syntax)
Salir (leave)
Pagar (pay) and gastar (spend)
Comprar (buy)
Llegar (arrive)
Querer (want) and desear (desire)
Hablar (speak) and decir (say or tell)
Dar (give)
Tocar (touch)
Vivir (live)
Compreder (understand)
Despertarse (wake up)
Levantarse (stand up)
Desnudarse (strip) and vestirse (to get dressed)
Quitarse (take off - an item vs. totally)
Poner - put and ponerse (put on - an item vs. all clothes0
Sentarse - sit down
Sentirese- feel (this is where lo siento comes from)
Poder - to be able
Volver - return (also regresar) and with "a" to do again.
Pedir - to ask (to DO something) and Preguntar (to ask - a question)
Abrir - to open and cerrar - to close
Traer - bring
I'm trying to wade thru these reports, but after while the head gets to spinning!
I have a week to kill in Jan and I want to go somewhere reasonably close and cheap (I'm in Tampa) and DR looks like a good spot. I've traveled/mongered extensively in Europe and Canada, but never have headed south. So the million $ question. Where should I go in DR?
I'll be alone, white/40s, speak no latino dialects, and basically flying blind. I'm looking to fly in around 20-21 Jan and get a taxi to a hotel thats smack dab in the middle of ho's ville.
Any advise on which city, which hotel, etc would be greatly appreciated!!!

Ford; Suggesting Curacao is a vey poor recommendation. I've been to many places and Curacao is the bottom of the barrel. One major 'barracks style' p4p venue with 5-6-7s. Little or no nightlife & the absolute worst food of any place I've ever been.
Bottom line is: Curacao is Lame. Save your money!
Central & (northern part of) South America are much better options in summer.
Stay at Sosua and at the Hotel Europa. If you have any questions you can ask me and I'll be able to answer them.

-----From Fodor's travel:
Curacao Food: From roadside delicasies to elegant dining, with just about everything between Curacao offers a wide range of dining options. Look to the hotels and several Willemstad restaurants for fine dining, and to the countryside for great seaside seafood and barbecue spots.
With Curacao's influence from numerous nationalities, it enjoys a wide variaty of dining options. Indonesian rijstaffel or rice table is especially popular.
Curacao's specialties include stoba di cabrito (goat stew), fried plantains, seafood, and conch. Amstel beer is a plentiful and local rums such as San Pablo are choice drinks. For an after-dinner liqueur, try Senior Curaçao's Blue Curaçao (it comes it several other colors as well.) Made from a bitter orange grown on the island, select from flavors including orange, chocolate, rum raisin, and coffee

***Here's a pic of Sematra Avilla from Cali Colombia. She was at Campo on the island of Curacao in 2003. I met her in Curacao and continued to keep up with her on my trips to Colombia, in 2004 and 2005. Sorry about the quality, its an old polaroid picture but would you say she is a 4 or a 5? Or maybe only a 2 or 3?
............what info has Ford ever provided to this board that has been of any value? I wouldn't follow his advice either............
...and must support Ford 100%. The food on the island is quite good, and you can find most any type of food. Since I usually have a Colombian chica with me, I tend to eat Colombian food at Dona Helena's (Ford will know where that is, ja ja).
As to the chicas at Campo, PLEASE!!!! There is something for everyone, all types, it is perfectly legal, clean and safe, and is a great venue especially for a beginner monger. One great advantage for someone who does not speak Spanish as well, since all locals understand and speak English. The chicas at Campo do not but that is a different story.
If hot Colombianas (blancas, morenas, y negritas) are not enough, you always have the option of chasing the vacationing blonde Dutch girls. That's if you want to do things the hard way, of course.
I recommend Curacao 100%.
if you want to back up Ford, you can take my place at 3 am in the morning in the downtown alleys of medellin.

Hi people,
I'm new to the board and have been hearing some neat things about DR.
I am young (23), and in fairly good shape. I also speak ok spanish.
Where are the places in DR to find lighter skinned chicas (like Alica Keys or Mya Harrison's skin colour)? I'm not looking for white women just a really light mulatto. How do the women look generally?
Also how hard/easy is it to lay an amateur or non pro? Do you have any good tips?
For those of you who don't know how Alicia Keys looks, here is a picture.
These are towns by the border with Haiti. I figure the chances of finding some fresher Haitian goddesses are higher around there.
Any info will be greatly appreciated!

My last trip in June I hooked up with one of frineds from Santiago for the 1st time he took me to alot of undergroundspots that I did not even know about I have been going to DR for 4 years now. If you are looking to bang as many hoes as you for cheap go to Sosua/Boca Chica, and it you want to spend dollar go Santiago for the light skin hoes. They have light skin hoes in Sosua/Puertplata but you just have to search for them they are around you will not be disappointed.

General formula is less tourists = less P4P girls. Since no tourists in their right minds go along the DR/Haiti border it bodes poorly. You will need malaria prophylaxis in that region without a doubt. There are Haitian P4P girls all over the country.

Hey Grand Pollo. It's me again, your old buddy #2128. In 2004 I was in the DR for several weeks, had a great time with the chicas in many of the hot spots (SD, BC, PP and Sosua)....with my LIMITED Spanish.
That being said, I agree with your statement that "less tourists = less P4P girls." Makes sense. However, isn't it also true that "more poverty = more possibility of P4P"?
Of course it might be a different P4P version than bar pick ups, maybe less aggressive, maybe even less direct. More like attracting a look, then a smile from a cutie, followed by a drink or a meal with more smiling and minimal conversation, leading to a slow walk to the room and....some play followed by the bloated "taxi fare". Isn't this a possible scenario in the poverty stricken areas nearer to Haiti and farther from tourist traffic? Or am I way off base? And will the locals look at me, Mr. White Guy in shorts, like a crazy Indian way off the reservation? And avoid me like the plague? Or mug me and steal everything I've got, like the sitting duck that I am in such a place?
Hell, the malaria pills are enough to discourage me, but do you have any thoughts that might make such a trip to Monte Cristi or Dajabon SEEM A LITTLE MORE worthwhile? Anyone else have any ideas?
Looking for some adventure beyond the streets of Sosua,

I have been to Monte Cristi a number of times and you will find a lot haitians there many that work the rice fields and some other things. It is easy to get them there. But my reasoning is why go there when you can find them in the sosua area or in the small suburbs between sosua and puerto plata.
Just get a haitian guy and wtell him you want some good looking non pro haitian girl and he will do his best to hook you up and it will definately cost a lot less.
I have been to Monte Llano a lot and I see the very very poor conditions that some of the Haitians live. I think that the young girls will really be excited to spend the night in a hotel with AC and be treated out etc. Good thing about some of the haitian you meet is that they speak some engilsh.
The boarder thing doesnt really excite me cause of the dangers involved.

Truth is that Haitians are looked down on and despised in the dominican republic. They are treated real bad I mean almost sub human by the dominicans any one that shows any type of interest in them is immidiately loved and embraced by them.
Have fun.
Guys,
Do any of you know of any Car rental agency in Santo Domingo and the average daily price for a mid-size sedan. I will appreciate it very much if someone elaborate on driving in DR since I'm planing my trip and want to be very mobile, hence being fluid and driving to towns along my adventure :)
Thanks again!
Dear Mongers,
I have been reading alot lately about the DR and want to head out in September for 3 weeks, doing pros and non-pros, hopefully. i am 29, from Europe and speak Spanish fluently.
I would like to stay at a hotel santo domingo, girl friendly, clean, not noisy with air, not expensive. any recommendations are well appreciated. thanks,
Buxeda
