I have been looking at going to the DR for a while. Since I can't go to brazil because right now I just don't want the hassle of getting a VISA right now, I figure I hit up DR first. I want to go to Sousa for my first trip and stay at the New Garden. I plan August/September timeframe. I have been reading some reports and I think I made a good choice for my first trip. I will be by myself and hopefully there will be no problem with that. Right now a ticket is costing me about $500. $700 right now. I plan to stay for 7 days. Is there any thing as far as sight seeing and picture taking while I'm there? Does the New Garden have women that works there or around the area. Is it safe for a person traveling by himself? Should I pay no more that 2000 for short or long stay? Should I bring my own Condoms? Any general info about Sousa and the women and things to do would be just great.

Thanks guysYes New Gardens you will see alot of chicas around the establishment. As far as Safety, Its pretty safe as Dominican's don't mess with tourist that much because you are bringing money to the town and economy and the last thing they want is a bad rap, they do not want a bad name or tourist will stop coming. Now if your looking for trouble, trouble will find you.

Always bring your own condoms and

Maybe its just me but

The Food is horrible (At least at the resorts and surrounding restaurants) They try hard to make Americanize food but they suck at it. (I had diarrhea for like a week) Next time i go i will bring with me ensure, i can not eat there crap.

Jinks, I couldn't PM you this so I'm posting it:

I haven't stayed over in Sosua yet, but I asked some of the same questions a few weeks ago on the Sosua Reports thread. MHO gave me much of this info, and I've heard it confirmed by others.

Sightseeing and picture-taking? Sosua itself is a pretty small place, but it has its pretty points. I'd be surprised if the New Garden couldn't hook you up for sightseeing, a day-sail, and so forth. I've heard people disdaining the beach over the last day or so, but I thought it was pretty decent for swimming and lounging. I liked the scuba diving, BTW, though it's typical volcanic-island visibility (we're not talking about the "gin-clear" waters of Caymans or Cozumel!)

New Garden women - per MHO, they are free-lancers. The hotel lets 'em hang out, and you negotiate on your own. He said, "They are usually nothing much but a few are good for afternoon fun."

Safety (for a solo traveler) - Other sources on the Sosua thread feel it's safe. You do have to be aware of your surroundings, but that's true anywhere. Being at the New Garden, though, you'll probably fall in with some fellow "adventurers" pretty easily. The "hot zone" for mongers is evidently not more than a couple of blocks of Avda. Pedro Clisante, around the cross street where New Garden is.

Prices? Here's what MHO said:
Day: 1000 for ST
Night: 1000-1500 ST, TLN is 1500-2000.

Condoms? I brought my own, based on past experience in other Latin countries. Wal-Mart in your town has a better selection and better quality than you'll find in Sosua.

Any general info? Here is my last question to the "Board" and MHO's answer:

"5. Places to target? Places to avoid? Likewise, chicas to target/avoid?

"Not much happening in Seacrets but stop by for a look if you want. LaPassion's is 2500 for a 1 hour session onsite but you can salida the girls out for 500 after 12pm (1pm on weekends). The girls go back and forth all night so all you have to do is get a seat say in Merengue bar and watch the parade."

Westy gives good advice.

Bring your own condoms. The main beach in Sosua has some rocky parts and there are sea urchins in the water, so be careful. Look to see where the locals are entering the water and usually that area will have sand and no sea urchins.

Sosua is very small. Violent crime involving mongers who visit for a short time, very rare. Use common sense. Don't get drop dead drunk. Don't become friends with all locals who may approach you. Be polite, but firm. Walk around like you have been there 100 times.

Popular sightseeing spots on the north coast, are usually outside of sosua, the Christ statue on Mt. Isabel is 35 minutes from Sosua. Cabarete is worth while to see at least once in the daytime, to see the kite boarding, cabarete about 15 minutes from Sosua.

It can be really hot, so you may think you may want to do many touristy things during the day, but after walking around for a bit, you will be sweaty and will probably want an air conditioned place.

The Food is horrible (At least at the resorts and surrounding restaurants) They try hard to make Americanize food but they suck at it. (I had diarrhea for like a week) Next time i go i will bring with me ensure, i can not eat there crap.

I haven't found that. The food at Casa Marina is excellent, and there are loads of restaurants in Sosua where you can get a good meal. I always try to have churrasco steak at least once each trip. Possibly the best steak I have ever had was at restaurant La Parillada in Puerto Plata.

Generally I prefer to go to places that serve Dominican food as they are cheaper and the ingredients more likely to be fresh and locally sourced. The fish and chicken soups are good and generally served with slices of lime. There are various casserole dishes that involve plantains, yucca, and such like. Dominican coffee is excellent. Fish dishes are usually good.

There are also a variety of street vendors selling food that can be pretty tasty with a plate costing 100-150 pesos. At some places they have a few plastic chairs where you can sit down and eat.

The diarrhea may be related more to the water than to the food. Always drink bottled water and use it even to brush your teeth. Most tourist bars use ice made from boiled water, so should be OK there, but be a bit wary of salads that might be washed in tap water.

Unfortunately local Dominican meat does tend to be tough by US standards, and you'll often find that chuleta (pork chop) is tough and dry. My wife and her sisters can actually taking a live hen that is walking around and have it killed, plucked, cooked, and served in not much more than an hour, but the meat is tough as hell!

Overall the food in fast food places and restaurants is better than what is available in the city I live in in the US, but the quality and variety of merchandise available in supermarkets for home cooking is much better in the US.

Is there any thing as far as sight seeing and picture taking while I'm there?

Yes, there is sight seeing activities; however, you are not in Rome. LOL :) Stop past the House of Culture downtown. There are two jade museums. The fire station has an altar in it, that looks better than some U.S. churches. Pick-up a Lonely Planet guide.

Is it safe for a person traveling by himself?

I think so. Spanish does help.

should I bring my own Condoms?

I always take my own. It's a personal thing.

I am very good friends (with privileges) with a working girl at one of the houses. I did a favor for her last year and gave her $250 so she could pay her rent. She was true to her word and hasn't asked for money from me since then. Every chance I get, I take her to the cabanas for a couple of hours and she doesn't ask nor expects money from me. I offer her a little bit here and there she complains a little that we have an agreement and I don't need to pay, but I feel like I've gotten my monies worth with her.

Now she is asking for me to look for a husband here in the states for her, she wants to come up here work as a call girl to make money and send to her family.

She's agreed to pay me some money to do so and to continue or friendship here.

She's willing to pay the guy who marries her as well.

Any takers?

Where would I get the most bang for my buck at over there Santo Domingo, Punta Cana?...In the western hemisphere, I don't anything compares to Rio. Nevertheless, Sosua is a "poor man's" Copacabana and Santo Domingo is a "poor man's" Centro. If you're looking for some kind of Rio comparable, I wouldn't waste your time in Punta Cana, Boca Chica, or Santiago.

ThanksPunta Cana (eastern tip of the country) is not one of the top mongering destinations in Dom Rep.

If you want it easy and simple, go to Black Beards in Puerto Plata. Sosua is a small town 15 minutes from Puerto Plata Airport (pop, on the north coast), that has many pro chicas.

Santo Domingo is a relatively big city, the nearest beach to Santo Domingo is 35 minutes away. Prices for chicas in Santo Domingo start at around $25 and go up. Santo Domingo is a city and is not a quiet relaxed beach town.

Really depends on how you like to spend your vacation, chasing pussy 24/7, or relaxing near the beach and chasing pussy during part of the day.

Rio de Janeiro has the beaches as part of the city, Santo Domingo city has no beaches.

Unless already included in your flight costs (varies from airline to airline) you need to buy a Visitor's Visa on arrival (US$10) and pay Departure Tax on leaving (US$20).

Some hotels may quote prices in dollars so make sure they are giving you a good conversion rate if you pay in pesos.

Everything else you are better off paying in RD$ (pesos). Euro has been climbing against the peso since end May 2010.

But don't worry if you take a few too many dollars. You can always get a good conversion rate when changing to pesos. In other words the difference between euro-direct-into-pesos and euro-to-dollar-to-pesos is minimal.

I recommend Lifestyles snugger fit condoms. They are of normal size, over six inches, with a tighter fit. That fits helps maintain erections for more time. It also is good to avoid the condom slipping out after an ejaculation. I used it with some girls on my last trip and it was the best. GBP girl that visited me to my hotel was seated over me more than 5 minutes after I came, I took my member out of her pussy and everything was on its place. They are available on Adam & Eve and other internet stores.

From Latin American Herald Tribune: "Puerto Rican Man Slain in Dominican Republic

SANTIAGO, Dominican Republic – Police in the northern Dominican province of Santiago arrested two people on charges they poisoned a Puerto Rican man to death in order to rob him.

The victim was identified as Douglas Jones, whose body was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Santiago city for an autopsy, a police official in the country’s northern region, Jesus Cordero, said.

The official told the press that Luz Maria Medina and a 16-year-old girl, whose name was withheld, admitted during questioning that they killed the Puerto Rican last Saturday in the town of Tamboril.

He said the two women confessed that they gave Jones a glass of oats containing a poisonous substance that later caused his death.

Medina and her companion told the police that they used the money they stole from the murder victim to buy drugs and go to beauty parlors, Cordero said.

The official said that the Puerto Rican was robbed of an unspecified amount of money, as well personal documents that were found in the possession of the women under arrest."

My brother married a dominican girl, she was under the impression that my country, Puerto Rico, was more dangerous than the Dominican Republic until she moved to Puerto Rico, she affirms Puerto Rico is a lot lot safer. The major cause of deaths in her family is not diseases, is murder. she lived in San Jose de Ocoa, a rural area. I was talking with Panman about crime and he was under the impression that Puerto Rico was a distination to avoid because of crime, he get that impression by some puertorican friends he has in the states. Only two tourists have been killed in Puerto Rico in the last decade, one who was in a bad area buying drugs and wanted to go without paying and a girl killed by a mental patient, tourists are not target in Puerto Rico. Official murders in Dominican Republic average 2,500 persons per year but half of the murders goes unreported.

I chat a lot with dominican girls by internet or when I am in Santo Domingo, all have told me being victim of some crime events during her life, robbery, assaults, kidnapping, poisoned with liquids to sleep her, etc. By the way, two thirds of the kidnappings that occur in my country are done by dominicans to other dominicans.

I believe I have never been victim of anything because 1) I am very careful, for example, the waitress that cooked me lunch in her house and send it to my hotel on my last trip, I made her to taste (in a romantic way of course) the meal before me, I do not trust anybody. 2) I do not stay enough time in the city to be a crime victim.

The US Department of State has affirmed that Haiti is a safer country than the Dominican Republic.

Thats why I never get drunk when I travel alone, it can easily increase my probabilities of being a target for delinquents.

Starting in 2007, after I noticed an uptick in violent crime, I started changing my DR travel routine. I no longer post my travel dates on public forums, I spend less time in Boca Chica, and my beach routine (2-4 girl entourage at Playa Vista) has been eliminated. http://dominicanwatchdog.org/dominican_news/page-Too_many_tourists_killed_in_the_Dominican_Republic Illusion versus Reality--Why I moved away from Sosua/Cabarete
I visited the area several times over the last 5 years and loved it for all the reasons that many of you love it. I began living there full time in February. But in reality, I began to see the dark, ugly things about the area--these are random notes of mine: my Dominican gf afraid to walk on vitually deserted beach, car rear-ended--hit and run and the police refused to help, an armed robbery attempt of my house , an armed robbery attempt of Orilla del Mar(my rental) by 4 bandits= a 30 shot gunfight, bandits return in revenge gunfight with security--owners attempt a cover-up possibly to protect their properties value and/or rental income, pickpockets, police totally corrupt, crime atmosphere, the stories of friends terrorized by criminals, high prices, huge fear of an accident = loco drivers, pedestrians, and motos, police actively seek bribes on jfk, police will not protect me. no laws are observed and no laws enforced, con games, inflated prices = beer, food, cars, gasoline, difficulties of cedulla and registration, impossible to buy a house , must rent cars, gas 4.75 a gal, internet and electricity interruptions, supermarket food expensive , security and police are afraid to come to your rescue, 12 policemen raid a nice restauarant in Juan Dolio with loaded shotguns and semi-automatic rifles terrorizing the patrons--because the music was too loud, and dengue and typhoid fever, police persecution of Haitians seeking bribes.

I am thinking about spending 3-6 months in DR this winter. I would like to bring my dog with me. 100lb 6 year old boxer. I guess this is way off topic for the board which is why I posted in the general area.

Besides making sure the place I rent is ok with it any ideas whats involved or where to find out whats involved to get a pet in and back out of DR?

ThanksI live in New York and I have seen people carry onto the plane a small pet container with a small dog, from JFK to Santo Domingo and also the from Santo Domingo to JFK.

From what I saw, appears it is no big problem to travel with a dog as long as the paperwork is correct.

Be careful with a dog in DR. Thieves will poison dogs in order to break into a house more easily. Thieves will steal chihuahuas, these really small dogs are popular pets in DR.

Growing up in the States, I was always told not to give dogs chicken bones. In DR, the dogs eat everything, chicken bones, no problem. Lots of fleas in DR, so if you bring your dog, I would have a supply of Frontline for fleas and/or Revolution or Advantage (fleas, mites, some intestinal parasites). I buy Advantage and Revolution online, no prescription necessary and the products are shipped from Australia (total pet supply com).

How thick are the girls down in DR? I posted this in the photo section as well. I like big booties and thick hips and thighs. Is it very common down there? From the looks of majority of photos, they look pretty slim to me. I want some reassurance before I book a flight.

Bodies like this

http://img002.lazygirls.info/people/jahaira_maravilla/jahaira_maravilla_jahaira_koZx9Qk.sized.jpgAll shapes and sizes of chicas in DR.

In Santo Domingo, Le Base bar has one dark skin waitress with wide hips and big breasts. Also in Santo Domingo, bar 305 has some thick legged chicas, the happy ending massage place has some thick chicas and Pacos bar near the airport in Santo Domingo has chicas with healthy legs.

When I read about the murders of foreigners in Dom Rep, it is mostly older foreigners who are the victims, I think of the name of that movie "No Country for Old Men."

Illusion versus Reality--Why I moved away from Sosua/Cabarete

Every year round about 3000 dominicans get deported back from the US to the DR once they have done their prison sentence according to listin diario one of the biggest newspapers in the DR.
Salaries in the DR are terrible as a cop you make a couple of thousand pesos which is not enough to make a living, so they are looking for extra money i got pulled over several times so far.
I have been living here for 2,5 years and so far thanks god nothing has happened to me altough i have to admit i have been exposed to situations were i was really uncomfortable.
And finally in this country everybody is corrupt not only the police i guess you can buy pretty much everybody if you have enough money.
Just to give you an example in the last 2.5 years 43 family members of the CEO of the Corporacion Dominicana de Empresas Electricas Estatales (CDEEE) got high ranked postions into this organistion i wonder why.

I could never retire to DR, Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Paraguay, or Brazil. Sidney, if you're still living it up in Argentina, I envy you. Argentina is one of the few countries in the Western hemisphere, where I could park myself permanently. Argentina doesn't have all the pluses of the Dominican Republic, but it has much fewer minuses.

Help:

I get your point, Argentina does have "fewer minuses" but at the same time I can't help but remember that you're still at the mercy of a political class that thinks it's fine to default on debt obligations and seize private pension funds.

No telling who or what they'll come for next.

Just my two cents.

-Helpmann :)I will be able to retire in 5 years with a healthy pension and still be under fifty. My plan until recently was to retire to the Dr and live in paradise. But those plans have changed.

If lawlessness prevails, and police have no accountability, how long will it be before I fall victim to this corrupt system? When non locals contribute economically but are murdered with no justice, is this the paradise I want? I am now traveling to find a place where a persons life and money are appreciated.

I guess what really bothers me is also is that America doesn't appear to hold these countries accountable for its citizens. Its as if America feels you got what you deserved for visiting these places.

Either your wealthy and part of the corruption, or your not and trying to fly under the radar. But if you [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) off the wrong person steet justice will prevail.

There has to be a place where the criminals are in check. Where police are chasing the real criminals. A place where non locals are cherished.

The comeback of Haiti, the future opening of Cuba, the retirees moving to CR, and the changes in Colombia will all eventually make the DR adjust its tourist stragedy.

President Lionel travels everwhere preaching peace. But he doesn't have basic respect for outsiders in his country as long as we spend money and don't seek justice when victimized.

12 policemen raid a nice restaurant on juan dolio with loaded shotguns and semi-automatic rifles ... because the music was too loud.
let's hope this is a trend.

i can offer the names of at least a dozen venues in puerto plata (where i live) and half-dozen in sosúa (which i don't know so well) which are ripe for such a raid.

i hope the dj didn't escape unrep001hed in the raid you are talking about. being blasted with a shotgun is too quick a death for those bastards. they should die the same lingering death from bleeding eardrums they try to inflict on us.

No I'm not kidding. Nor will I fall into an internet pissing match.

Agreed regarding your point about the general risk level ("AA", I'll take your word for it) for any country in LA or elsewhere in the 3rd world is very risky and unpredictable. Regardless of actual politics.

I'm just sayin that the recent history of Argentina (past 10 years) tells one that there's "MORE OF" a penchant towards debt default and private funds seizure. It's their history. You can't erase it.

Thank you, Jackson, for not deleting "dominicanwatchdog.org" from Jaososua's post. I'd been pondering the DR as a possible "expat haven" for my retirement; some "WWW-window shopping" of Costambar (Blackbeard's neighborhood) real estate revealed that a modest villa would be within my means. But Dominican Watchdog threw a well-deserved monkey wrench into those ponderings....

Also from Dominican Watchdog: "Too many tourists killed in the Dominican Republic(Update 5), Crime statistics from December also shows that Dominican Republic is now one of the most dangerous tourist destinations in the Caribbean with 23 foreigners killed."

Admin should add a thread about living in the Dominican Republic. I have never had a negative experience in the country but as stated before, I am a very careful person and I do not stay enough time in DR to be hit by negative probabilities. I have though about moving to Santo Domingo, there are a few well paid jobs in the city for people of my profession that can help me have a decent life in the city. The big plus of the city compared to Puerto Rico is the chica scene but almost every other aspect of living in Santo Domingo are minuses.

But Dominican Watchdog threw a well-deserved monkey wrench into those ponderings.I own a home in Costambar and have never had a problem. Also as you say prices are dropping and will probaly drop further. But I follow strict rules that I apply, being this is my safe zone. I never take guests to my home. And I remain low key with the locals there. I only stop there when I need a break from Sosua.

With that said it is also a very boring place. Sometimes I feel funny having an apt across the street from Costambar beach, but never wanting to go there.

I paid 40k USD years ago and it balloned to 120k at one point. But now I won't sell at a depreciated value because it was a long term investment.

But there was a guy on DR1 who projected that the DR could become the next Mexico. As tourism declines in Mexico because of the drug violence, so could the DR as it becomes the next major staging spot for drugs destined for the states.

As I understand it, some of the people being deported with NewYork connections are now competing with the local Dominicanos for future rights.

I'd like to second Boricua's proposal in favor of a "Living In The D.R." thread.

The notion of living in a "Caribbean paradise" does tempt me ... and it would help if the price were reasonably cheap. The Puerto Plata area looks nice, and real-estate there certainly isn't expensive. The "endless summer" tempts, too. BUT - no bed of roses is entirely free from thorns.

A source I've gotten used to using is the International Living website and magazine. They haven't given a lot of attention to the DomRep lately, but their "e-letters" from 2007 and 2008 included several that dealt with the coast between Cabarete and Sosua ... aye, me buckos, Monger Central!

The IL Quality-of-Life rankings for 2010, though, brought the DomRep in at #73 - way below countries like Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Panama, Costa Rica ... Oddly, they rated "Climate" rather poorly; maybe their air conditioners weren't working. Other items that got low marks include Infrastructure, Risk & Safety, the Economy, and Leisure & Culture. "Cost of Living" was just barely ahead of the USA, which surprised me; but it's "indexed" to a lifestyle equivalent to the USA, and based on the US State Department's Index of Overseas Living Costs. (And US-Embassy-personnel "home security" standards boost the price of rentals pretty strongly.)

But the articles I read point out that beach-access real estate in the DomRep is a great bargain, and they do praise the beaches and the beautiful scenery. (I don't think they were talking about the type of "scenery" we enjoy around Blackbeard's pool & patio, though.) And it appears that the Dom Rep exempts retired expats from paying income tax on their foreign-sourced pensions ... if Sir Charles is reading, can you confirm this?

I can see "minuses" to the DomRep - the roads, the driving, the crazy motoconchistas - and there are always risks to being "rich" in a relatively-poor country. (The 2010 CIA Factbook gives a GDP-per-capita figure of $8300 per annum - that's about two months of my pension, after taxes - and a Gini index of just under 50.) But as I said about "beds of roses"....

How does the expat resident get along with life in the DomRep? What kind of prices, or rental costs, could you expect for desirable real estate? What about shopping, transportation, and the multitude of things you might go out doing when you're not in bed? Any particular "must see" items; conversely, any places you "must avoid"...?

I would appreciate a thread about Living In The Dominican Republic, and I would be eager to participate in such a thread.

Good post.

I would disagree that the coast between Cabarete and Sosua is monger central. Lots of areas to monger in Dom Rep.

With your pension you could live nicely in Dom Rep.

If you are inclined to live in Dom Rep, I would suggest doing a tour around the island so that you know how the different areas differ.

North coast has earthquakes, south coast has hurricanes, inland has floods.

Many foreigners like the north coast. With a $4k month budget, I would probably rent an apartment in Santo Domingo and make that my base. I would rent a car when I wanted to travel someplace. When you live there, you will make friends with people who have cars, so it may not be necessary to own your own car. For a retired person, Santo Domingo is not bad. Some of the other places, there are less people, more wide open spaces and could be a little more dangerous for an older person.

I have not been to the south west yet, Barahona and Bani. I have not been to Costanza yet, mountain town with cooler night time temperatures and cool fresh water streams.

I enjoy watching the TV show "House Hunters International", several times they have done shows from the punta cana/bavaro area of Dom Rep, with some nice condominium apartments.

most homes have metal bars on the windows and metal gates to somewhat block thieves. just be careful about leaving your dog in the yard or near an open window where would be thieves could offer the dog poisoned meat.

i am in the process of getting more information regarding a mobile internet router for my laptop with claro. bq ribs sent me some information yesterday.

you may want to visit the claro or orange webpage to get more information regarding internet service, speed and cost.

i am sure other guys on this board have more information regarding internet speeds and costs.

I own a home in Costambar and have never had a problem. Also as you say prices are dropping and will probaly drop further. But I follow strict rules that I apply, being this is my safe zone. I never take guests to my home. And I remain low key with the locals there.

My very knowledgeable uncle gave me this advice while helping me move into my first apartment after graduate school. I remember it like yesterday. He was adamant about not bringing visitors to my apartment, and not visiting apartments of visitors that I did not know on a non-playing basis. Likewise, he stressed the importance of not being too chatty with the neighbors.

With that said [Costambar] is also a very boring place. Sometimes I feel funny having an apt across the street from Costambar beach, but never wanting to go there.

This is funny. I do not hang-out in my neighborhood in the states, even though it is a trendy one. It is too close, so to speak. I saw some of the places across from the beach, and liked them. However, I would not care to be seen by the workers as a long-term resident.

I may need to retain Mr. Gogo for advice on relocating. :)

Lets suppose that I move to Santo Domingo. I have some friends I have met over the internet on recent years, we hang on restaurants and bars every time I travel. You recommend me never to allow the girls to visit me? Why?

Let’s suppose that I arrive home from work and I find that my laptop was stolen, who will probably be responsible for the robbery: a neighbor? a contractor or some home service provider? my friends? my friend’s friends? a professional thief? my landlord?

Thanks for your response.

Thanks for your response. You didn't state if your renting or buying? Renting gives you more flexibility. But if you buy.

The last thing you need is girls stopping by unexpectedly laying claims. As we travel its easy for us to disconnect but when you live in one location the game changes. I've had girls in Sosua stake out my hotels and make scenes, do you want this where you live?

Robbers need vital intel usually. Do you live alone? Your schedule? Do you have an alarm? Do you have valuables? Your openness will provide the needed intel to assist the robbers. Just my opinion. Plus where do you go to have peace if you have the party house?

But as in life you want to create outs. You never want to leave yourself without options. Never play yourself out too soon. As in poker you want to figure out what the other guy is up to, but also deceive to protect your hand while appearing genuine. Some guys hope for the best(pre flop) and hope everything will be okay. Other guys know how to deal with whats dealt(after flop).

I'm not an expert on relocation, Sir Charles and Manizales 911 are more active for this. I'm still searching and learning.

I'm afraid you have a point there; they do have a lot of "infomercial" content, and the proportion has increased over the years. But I believe they still have a decent proportion of useful content beyond those "Buy Here" articles.

Of course, they don't have the punter's perspective ....

Thanks for your response.I cannot speak for Mr. Gogo, but you do not want the hassle of having girls that you meet "on the street" making unannounced visits to your place at any time for any reason. Moreover, it opens you up to potential, and avoidable, danger. I violated this rule once. I has horrified when a former date knocked upon my door one night-after "promising" never to come to my place-and announcing that she needed to make some $$ for food, etc., and etc. I did not need my neighbors to see this side of my social life. Moreover, you set yourself up for a potential false claim. It is one thing to take a girl to a hotel and have LE, her brother, her father, or her husband go there looking for you, even if you did nothing. It is quite another to have one of these folks come to your residence looking for you. You must always avoid unnecessary risks.

Hello,

I have been wondering this kind of thing for some time now so I wanted to ask a more traveled monger.

One of my friends that has traveled alot to the Dominican Republic and other places has said that he found it really difficult to find girls that will swallow let alone the ones that do CIM (both Pros and Non-pros). I found this kind of disappointing since I always thought that DR was one of the places where the women are prepared to do the nastiest stuff to their punter or boyfriend.

So the question is, did any of you guys traveling to DR have problems with pros doing really kinky swallowing and CIM?

What about your those of you that have regular girlfriends or shall I say non-pro? Did you find that a girl from a nice area like Moca or la vega or santiago acting real kinky or did you get a girl that was down right boring and not experimental or cooperative.

I wasn't familiar with the magazine "International Living" until this week. Jesus, the "International Living Retirement Index" is garbage! 55% of the index's weight is what I would call Real Cost of Living (Cost of Real Estate + Cost of Living + Cost of Health Care) and 20% of the index's weight is what they call "Special Benefits," which is highly subjective. Climate and Safety are each weighted at 5% and the numbers look like they were pulled out of a hat.

I hope no one made any retirement decisions based on this rigged index.

NOTE: Anyone who wants a quality index would be much better off looking at the United Nation's Annual Human Development Index. Although, the UN's index doesn't take into account things like cost of living or climate, one can just scroll down the list until they get to a GDP/per capita and region they're comfortable with.

The only problem u might have is finding in all out orgy. For some reason gangbangs are not common at all.

In the DR you have choices. You have to learn to exercise them. If you have a chica who apparently doesn't care to please you in bed, why would you spend your time or money with her? If you hear a chica say "No" to a simple request for something that gives you pleasure in the bedroom - and she gets away with it, expect her to walk all over you in other aspects of life.

Any well raised Dominican or Haitian chica will try to please you sexually - so if you want certain things tell her. I wouldn't expect them to spontaneously want CIM or swallowing or anal or even to do it the way you like the first time out, but if I heard "No" to something like that it would be a real red flag about continuing to see her.

There are lots of chicas who value their relationship and understand that good sex is the foundation - and that means doing whatever it is that pleases you.

It may seem politically incorrect, but it seems very common for chicas to "test" you and expect to be put in their place. When that happens they are normally content (and apologetic and submissive). The culture here and in LA in general expects a man to be in control more than in the US.

Also many chicas would not want to seem too slutty by initiating this sort of thing or even not objecting a little. When their novio is firm with them though they will quickly get used to not spilling a drop of his leche.

It's kind of funny that Latinos perceive American women as the ones willing to engage in that type of sexual stuff.

As for who does and who doesn't, let's separate putas from regular women. A puta, due to the nature of what they do and the "men" they associate with, will end-up doing anything, just give them time. Regular women associate with regular men who don't need that kind a sex. Personally, it would be hard for me to do those thing to the future mother of my children and I would start to question myself as to why do I need that kind of stuff.

My first trip to Santiago, I met in person a few chicas who I knew from online, I had coffee or drinks for an hour or two with some of them and no sex. My first day in Santiago, the third online chica who came to meet me at Montezuma Bar was a sexy chica from Moca who was studying in Santiago. It was the first time I had seen her in person, she was wearing a mini skirt, a blouse made of thin cotton and no bra, nice perky breasts and nipples. She has no children. We exited Montezuma Bar around 5pm and I headed toward the highway that goes toward Santo Domingo. In the car, I told the chica that it was my first day in Santiago and that I had driven up from Santo Domingo earlier in the day. I told the chica that I needed to shower and that I would do that in a cabana. I asked her which cabana she liked and she told me bora bora. We went to bora bora cabana and had great sex. She gave a a great bareback BJ, if I wanted to I could have made a deposit in her mouth.

The next chica I had sex with in Santiago, lived in Bermudez, Santiago, 38 DD breasts, no kids, 21 years old, worked in an appliance store. The first night I saw her in person we hung out at Overlounge bar and no sex. The next time I saw her, I invited her to my room at the el gran almirante hotel and told her I was driving to Santo Domingo later in the day. She noticed my hard on and I told her I couldn't drive with a hard on, bbbjcim, no problem.

Each chica is different. Some chicas love oral sex, others are not so crazy about oral sex. Some will take the leche in the mouth, some will swallow most if not all the leche, others may spit some of it out.

I wish I knew how to predict how a chica will perform in bed, but I can't. Some pros that I was with in Sosua were terrible in bed. Some chicas with normal jobs were incredible in bed. Take it on a case by case basis, some DR chicas are very wild and passionate, others less so.

I had sex with one chica from La Vega, 21 years old, no kids, beautiful breasts, she was boring in bed.

I found bareback bjs to be very normal in the DR by both pros and non pros. Only once out of some 30 or so pros in my two visits I was told to put a condom on before head and I kicked her out of my room soon after. I found it easy to finish CIM with pros, however they always spit it out. Apparently I was unlucky, because it really turns me on to see them gulp it down. Like Rebel Monger said, sometimes I start asking myself why I need that kind of stuff. Maybe I should cut down on the porn, lol.

From my limited experence in the DR I have found a BBBJ is most always a given with pros ( I have not had any non pros in the DR ). I think that without a condom is actully better for the girls as bare skin has to be better than their mouth rubbing on laytex. It seems with a covered BJ the girl always spends less time than bare back and they quickly move to sexo.

If she can cook and clean house and respect me, why wouldn't I? Sure I would worry about running into her old sex partners. And I'm sure a Dominican babys daddy is around, But this all figures into the equation.

I think what really turns me on about kicking it with an ex punta is that she has no sex outs. None of that "I have a head ache" or other excuse not to fuck or suck. As an ex pro the least she is going to do is give you head. As an ex pro trained in fucking, your fantasies are unlimited(threesomes, anal, cim).

As I get older I realize marriage is not for me, and maybe a girlfriend might be to much. But a companion who knows how to get a hard dick off, a companion who knows when I don't want to talk to shut the fuck up, and a companion who's clean and lady like fits the bill.

Sure this sounds like the alpha male, but major sacrifices come from my end also. Financial security, romance(even ex puntas want this), and respect are what I offer besides being able to look beyond her past.

Fuck a pretty, stuck up, haven't been fucked much girl, I'll stick with an ex punta anyday.

It seems to be between Punta Cana and Sousa based on the number of reports written. My guess is that either of these places is better than Santo Domingo. We're basically looking for something on the beach for 3 nights that is close to the action. Probably something higher end (I. E., similar to Westin or W in the US versus Econo Lodge or Days Inn). Any advice as to which city is best and perhaps whether an all-inclusive is recommended would be very appreciated.

Of the third world countries I have traveled to I find that when a girl is your girlfrind she will be willing to indulge in all sorts of sex activity with you. Just for the fact that she is your girlfriend and that you are looking after her.

Thank you!Punta Cana has 386 reports. Sosua has 6,599 reports.

Sosua is a more well established mongering destination. Much easier to Monger in Sosua than Punta Cana.

Terra Linda, New Garden are two Sosua hotels that get mostly good reviews.

There are none, all inclusive hotels that are chica friendly. If you were to stay at an all inclusive hotel you would have to pay extra to bring in a chica.

PUJ is the airport code for punta cana. For Sosua you would use POP, Puerto Plata airport.

The word is "puta" not "punta." Punta means "end" or "top." Puta means "prostitute."

This does not sound at all like the 'alpha male'.Qualities of an "alpha male":

1) Take charge.
2) Confident.
3) Dominate.

-GrammarMann.Much appreciated. My Spanish is getting good but my pronunciation needs work. Maybe you or someone else can help me with something.

There is this beautiful Spanish girl that gives free lessons on youtube. In my spare time it's a great way to kill time just hearing her talk.

The words that begin with a "V", like vamos and vaso she says with a "b". I was taught to say them as a "v". When I inquired with my Spanish co-workers I was told this is right and wrong.

Also I was correct last week that the two LL's (ella, ellos, llaves) are to be said like Eja, Ejos, Javes. I always thought the two ll's were to be said like "ya" not 'Ja".

...One of my friends that has traveled alot to the Dominican Republic and other places has said that he found it really difficult to find girls that will swallow let alone the ones that do CIM (both Pros and Non-pros). I found this kind of disappointing since I always thought that DR was one of the places where the women are prepared to do the nastiest stuff to their punter or boyfriend...In the Dominican Republic, nothing gets done for "Gringo" unless "Gringo" does it for himself. Dominicanas are simple women, who believe they know more than everyone. If you want a BBBJCIM, then find yourself a "gazelle," take her back to your place, take out your dick, move her head to your crotch, then cum in her mouth. It's that easy. Maybe she spits and maybe she swallows, but everything else should not run smoothly. If not, don't pay her and tell her to get the fuck out. Then you will see how quickly her attitude changes.

If you want to party, then you have to be the party. If you want something--anything, then just do it. Do it like a man, with conviction and enthusiasm. Two women, three women, young, women, old women, orgies (Brazil), wrapped in cellophane, handcuffed to beds, anal, CIM, DP, dildos, anal plugs, dog chain, role play, photos, videos... It's your fantasy, it's your time, it's your money, and it's your will.

Never had a problem finding one or a dozen who allow CIM or will swallow for me. Getting two to share it is a little more work however ;) :)

Castilian is considered the purest Spanish (if that matters to you). In Castilian "B" and "V" are interchangeable and normally pronounced as an indistinct consonant halfway between the two.

Double "ll" in Castilian is always pronounced like "y" in English, but throughout the DR (and elsewhere in Latin America?) it is pronounced like English hard "j" are the start of words and often in the middle of words. This may be theoretically incorrect but is so widespread, even among educated speakers, that you would be pissing into the wind trying to speak otherwise.

The good news is that, whichever of the above options you use, you will be understood.

Remember there are ten/twenty times as many people speaking Latin American Spanish as there are speaking Castilian. The benefit of observing Castilian is not because it is "traditional" or "classy" or "more educated" but because it lays down a standard. The same applies in languages as in engineering or design "Standard is better than 'better'".

V and B are pronounced exactly the same, but HOW they are pronounced depends on the position in the word and the letters that follow. If it is the first letter in the word or followed by a vowel, there is a lip smack and a hard sound: boca, albahaca, verde. In other positions the lips do not touch and it has a softer sound: obra, etc. There are also some spelling rules that can help you decide whether to use v or b but I can't remember them right now. My Spanish isn't perfect but my spelling in Spanish is very close to perfect, but I just have it memorized and don't use the rules.

Y and ll vary greatly in their pronunciation from place to place. Here in Buenos Aires (unless y is the last letter in the word), it comes out "zh": Zho me zhamo Ricardo. In Colombia (although this varies from place to place in Colombia; my example is specific to Bógota) it has a strong "fricative" sound and comes out like j: Jo me jamo Ricardo. Other places it has a nasal sound.

Other words for puta that are used in various places: trola, gato (not gata), mina. Just a plain old slutt could be an "atoranta (that might have two r's; I forget)" or a "cualquiera."

Hope that helps!

Here in the DR you get "y" ,"zh" and "j" for "ll". I don't know if that is a question of region or educational level or the specific word being spoken.

#1 or #2 or both but likely not #3. Although, it seems to me that both the zh and j sounds are stronger when y or ll is the first letter in the word.

I was saddened to find out that ch is officially no longer a separate letter. That means it is no longer true that h is always silent in Spanish.

It's also important to keep in mind that just as I can talk like a homey from the hood when I want to, or talk like the son of an English teacher that I am, depending on the circumstances, Spanish speakers can often do the same thing.

So I've never seen any mention of this on any of the boards and figured I might as well post here as this place is such a wealth of information.

I wear contact lenses and take them out when I sleep. I do also have glasses that I can wear when my contacts are out. Without either, I'm practically blind. I feel like I could end up in a rather vulnerable position with a puta. Now, while I know in a nicer place like BB's or one of the better hotels where they take a girl's cedula, I'm sure it's not an issue, but have any of you guys ever had any problems with this? I'm not just talking the DR, but anywhere. I'm going on an extended mongering trip through the Caribbean and SA in the near future and just collecting all the information I can. Of course, don't be stupid and take a $5 puta back to your crappy hotel and make yourself vulnerable, just wondering if anyone had any stories/amusing anecdotes to share on this?

For that matter, with all the talk of brushing your teeth with bottled water, do I need to be concerned about getting that water in my eyes? I use solution, but still. Thanks in advance!

I also wear contacts and glasses. I had a funny experience regarding my "blindness" when I do not wear anything while I was in Hotel Napolitano on May 2009, you can read my posts about that travel in the forum.

Contact lenses should never be in contact with even bottled or tap water, so I infer you should avoid having your eyes wettened by water minutes before using it. I have never read of harm to eyes because of taking a shower, but I have only mongered in the DR and Curacao.

Dealnews.com is a site that has listings of discounts on many categories of things.

According to dealnews.com American Airlines is running a promotion whereby you can get a 10% off coupon. The instructions are at the dealnews site: http://dealnews.com/American-Airlines-coupon-10-off-flights-to-destinations-worldwide/380284.html

In September on AA, from JFK to SDQ roundtrip, direct flights are about $340, with a 10% off coupon the round-trip ticket will cost about $300.

Hey Boricua,

Thanks for the response, but after a good long search (I did read a good, detailed report of casas of yours from late May 2009 in the Sianto Domingo thread) could not find any reference to your contacts story. And when I pull up all your posts, it stops at 300 and there isn't a search feature for other members posts that I could find. So if you wouldn't mind posting me a link, otherwise I'll never hear the story.

Thanks!

I just got the strangest email to an address I only use related to this site and pornography websites.

The email contained a copy of a cedula and a copy of gyn test results for the same person in the cedula. The gyn test results state that she has HPV and has had some lesions removed from her vagina.

Very odd. I don't know the girl and the email did not ask for anything, only stated "importante".

I was wondering what the scam might be.

Thanks! My cousin and I were with two chicas in a hotel Napolitano room. I took my lenses off before sex and at a moment my chica was naked on the balcony while I was on my bed. My cousin chica was naked on the other bed, just 3 ft. distant from me and I was looking at her naked body, her nice tits. She told me "hey, don't look at me, look at your chica". I told her I took my lenses off so I can't see her, and she replied "really?" and began to make funny faces and twisting her tongue. I was acting as if I cant see her and trying not to laugh. She believed me but I was enjoying looking at her body.

Could someone please tell me what he is talking about?Along time ago Helpmann came up with a great analogy of the DR chicas, wether they were regular or working chicas. Tigres or Gazelles

Gazelles are the innocent sweet type of female. The ideal type of femAle that you should always strive to get with when your in DR. She could be a regular chick or a working chica but there a Gazelle nevertheless.

A Tigre is a chica that you should avoid at all cost. There that hardcore putas that's not into you and just want your money as fast as possible. They've got more game then the Parker bros.

Examples of a Tigre are:

1. They're aggressive and give you a price from the start of the conversation

2. They don't comply with basic sexual needs like giving head

3. They agree to a price and then once they get to your hotel they ask for more money and cause a seen.

4. They don't stay all nite like you negotiated

There's more rules to spot a Tigre but the important thing is once you spot a Tigre get rid of her ass ASAP. As far as gazelle go they'll rarely approach u, you have to approach them.

Hope this helps.

Are a metaphor from Helpman that I've found like many of his posts to be very helpful.

Unlike the veldt, there are actually more predators than prey on Pedro Clisante or Duarte at night. If you would rather hunt than be hunted it's good to keep this in mind and keep your eyes open during the day in more ordinary places.

Hooking up with a Tigre can range from unpleasant and unrewarding to extremely dangerous. At best it's a waste of time and money.

It's worth avoiding.

Hearing something like "Quiniento pesos, Papi?" from an innocent hot gazelle...
priceless.

The only aspect that I differ on is Haitian chicas. There are definitely black gazelles if that is your preference. Helpman's f-puppet is his own illustration. I would say the main problem is that Haitian Gazelles are very shy and unlikely to approach you - you will likely have to approach them. Many of them don't even go outside after dark, much less to Discos.

A Haitian chica who is bold enough to walk up and make an approach to you is likely a Tigre.

From New York to Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata in September, Tuesday or Wednesday departures, $271 round-trip for direct non-stop flights ($69 each way plus taxes).

Package deals for 7 nights or longer using the Orbitz $200 off coupon (200entertain) and the above $271 round trip airfare price, are at good prices.

Catalonia Gran Dominicus All Inclusive Hotel for 7 nights, 8 days, airfare, hotel, food, drink, $455 per person (JFK to SDQ). About the lowest price I have seen for an airfare and all inclusive hotel package. For comparison in January the per night rate at the Catalonia Gran Dominicus is over $200 (7nights in January would cost over $1400 dollars plus airfare).

There are numerous hotels that can be booked using orbitz for a package deal with the $200 off coupon, including numerous hotels on the North Coast, Santiago, Santo Domingo, Boca Chica, Juan Dolio, La Romana, Bayahibe, Samana.

$271 round trip airfare from New York to Santo Domingo or Puerto Plata is a very good fare.

Also how it all works as in at Blackbeards how does taking the girl back to your room any and all information would be helpful.

This is going to be a trip for my 31st birthday and want to make it the best. Thanks in advance.

From Geolopes:

"Last time I checked out DR nights site they were looking for many thousands of bucks for a 4-5 night trip. Total fucking ripoff Dude! Here are your BB's answers to your questions below. I've been to BB's 3 times, last trip was in mid July.

1) BB's has 2 shifts of girls. 1st shift arrives around 1100. 2nd shift arrives around 1800 and the place closes down at night around midnight. Most girls leave at that time unless you are doing an all nighter with her.

2) You talk directly with the girls. The Mamasan is only there if you need help or have a special request. I needed a deep throat BJ and was having trouble finding a chica who did that well so I asked "Yanet" and she gave me a good recommendation that I went with.

3) Prices are set at approx $42 USD for ST and double that for LT. ST can easily involve several hours, chatting at the bar, buying her a couple of drinks if you want. Hit the pool or jacuzzi for some groping, then smash it out in your room till your done. Some girls might allow 2 shots on goal if they dig you and know how to please them.

4) Services always include fucking/sucking to your hearts content. Most girls don't do culo but a few will. Ask Yanet. One chica offered me her ass up in the disco but I had already made my bid with another, a favorite who adores being grudge fucked with everything you have. Loved it! Fucking is covered but many chicas will suck dick uncovered but won't take it in the mouth. Latin chicas often prefer you cum on their tits, makes them proud that they got you off. Cultural thing.

5) You are allowed to bring outside chicas but their security is tight regarding that. She MUST have a valid cedula, and not be known as a trouble maker. This is for your protection, OK. The nearby beach has a few skanks hanging around, up to you if that's your thing. Enjoy. "

There are numerous good reports about Blackbeards in the Puerto Plata thread. In the Boca Chica thread there are posts regarding an all inclusive sex type place located in Boca Chica.

Also how it all works as in at Blackbeards how does taking the girl back to your room any and all information would be helpful.

This is going to be a trip for my 31st birthday and want to make it the best. Thanks in advance.DR night's prices are outrageous but I must say that I have seen the guy countless times come through FOD with some of the best looking chicas I have seen on the whole island without a doubt. That being said,I have been to three different high end all inclusive sex resorts and don't think they are worth it.

Not sure where to post this and hope I'm not breaking any rules.

If you know shoot me a PM.

You are probably better off asking on DR1 dotcom. There are a lot more people with direct experience there. Most posters here are not residents or property owners in the DR.

Let's see ...
$75 per night (plus tax) covers any Blackbeard's room but the Penthouse.
$82 is the price of an all-nighter with any of Blackbeard's chicas (DR$3000).
$82 more - let's add a "Happy Hour" with two chicas in the afternoon.
$100 should MORE than cover dinner and breakfast with your chica, lunch at poolside, enough Presidentes to keep you well-hydrated (and well-oiled), and a few rounds of "cowboy shots" in the evening.

That's just short of $350 per night at Blackbeard's. And the chicas at Blackbeard's are quite fine; been there, done them, I'm a satisfied customer. Check out their E-newsletter.

Oxygen wants $1450 for 2 nights, for their cheapest room plus chica. A two-night package at DR Nights, including "wife-up" with one chica and two "happy hours," would be $1800. Unless they're importing blondes from Eastern Europe, I don't see the added value to meet the added price.

I am putting my money on Blackbeard's. (Literally, next month.)

I could probably provide a couple of names for north coast and Santiago.

Another option would be contacting local realtors via email, requesting names of lawyers. (Who will likely be associates of the realtors, of course).

KaijuClassico is a Discotec in Sosua. Cristal is a bar/brothel in puerto Plata. La passions is a bar/brothel in Sousa, which i like visit sometimes not a bad spot to hang out, call be a little hi on price, but if you don't mind it's a cool spot. They have rooms upstairs, so you just pick a girl, pay and go do your thing, or can even take them out, that were it gets up there in price!

I'm visiting Road in October, and am actually a big fan of both mongering, and MMA =) My trip falls on the weekend of UFC 121 Lesnar vs. Velasquez, and I'm wondering if there's any local bar or venue that might display such an event? I was in CR last year during a UFC Penn fight and had no trouble finding it (Sportsmens) but in my previous couple trips to Road I've only been round and about in Sosua (never really East of the beach or West of La Passions, except for a brief trip to BB/Cristals), and I can't even recall many places with TV's, much less any striking me as the type to display semi-major sporting events. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

I am thinking about a trip to Sosua next week. My problem is that my airline ( Spirit ) doesn't go to POP. So if I fly into Santiago I would arrive very early in the morning and it would be a long wait for the bus to Sosua. How much would a taxi cost from the Santiago airport to Sosua? For about $200 more I could fly into POP on AA airlines. If I did that how much is a taxi to Sosua from there? Also I live closer to Atlantic City airport then the Philly connection on AA Airlines.
Sorry for the most likely pain in the ass question, but if I pull the trigger on this trip then trip reports will follow.
For the guys who know me they are most likely saying how come no Colombia. The simple answer to that is I like to swim in great clean water and MDE and CTG do not offer that.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Thanks in advance for any input.I was quoted 1700 pesos (one way) last week to go to POP from Santiago. I was also quoted 5000 pesos by another taxista 5 minutes later. Of course I told the second guy he was a ladrone. Hope this helps. I have a number of a taxi driver that I am sure will be reasonable and certainly reliable and has a brand new van if you need his number, just make sure you tell him how much you are willing to pay, don't let any of these guys quote you.

You don't say what time you arrive in Santiago but the first bus for Sosua leaves at 6 am and it will cost you about $30 (100 pesos). I don't know how much a taxi would cost you from the airport to Caribe tours bus depot but $20 should cover it. So you would be $150 better off. Enough for your first TLN and a few beers. I wouldn't entertain a taxi to Sosua myself but there are a few guys who have done it. (Check past reports, maybe the price is mentioned)

You can't beat a non stop flight........... The Continental flights to the DR leave around 7ish in the morning. Just make sure to get to EWR at least two hours or more before your flight. There are several off airport parking lots with free shuttle.

I fly out of EWR all the time and with the non stop flight I am sipping my first Presidente in the DR around noon time.

Continental only has service to POP, SDQ, and Punta Cana (which I know you are not interested in). Continental stopped STI flights a little over a year ago.

In addition, JetBlue offers non-stop flights from JFK to POP, and the first flight leaves around 6:30 A.M. if I remember correctly. This absolutely beats changing planes anywhere, especially returning through MIA.

Thanks to BG Ribs, Roger Dodger 007, and Professer 1 for your timely response to my questions about the best way to get to Sosua from Southern New Jersey.
I already have a trip booked to Nicaraqua for Nov. 2nd for two weeks, but I do not think I can hold out that long. It seems to me that after about seven days after I get home from a excursion ( just returned from MDE ) I am chomping at the bit for more action. I wonder if the 7 days has someting to do with the 7 day cycle that women go thru each month? No matter that is their problem and my problem is I am stuck here in the good ole USA with zero chance of getting some fine and cheap pussy. Just the thought of me walking into Classico's and have fine women fighting over me is heaven. Thank god I'm retired and only need to hit the trigger on my credit card to find relief.
BTW if I see one of you guys in Country the first round is on me.

Dominicans usually go home on the holidays, christmas and easter. The On season is December thru March, and a lot of europeans show up later in summer but generally the off season is spring and summer through hurricane season which lasts thru november. If you just want to miss dominicans going home any time that's not near a holiday would be fine.

Right now it's very slow, no crowds, cheap chicas, and on the north coast there is rarely an issue with hurricanes.

Here are the most common side effects of Tadalafil aka Cialis:

* Headache -- up to 15 percent of people
* Facial flushing -- up to 3 percent of people
* Indigestion, known as dyspepsia -- up to 10 percent of people
* Back pain -- up to 6 percent of people
* Nasal congestion -- up to 3 percent of people
* Muscle pain (known as myalgia) -- up to 4 percent of people
* Pain in the arms or legs -- up to 3 percent of people.

I get the back pain and the heartburn, but I think the heartburn is more because of the rum, now I pop a Prevacid which knocks out the heartburn and a aspirin if my back really hurts.. But all worth the Peter North wood! lol

Kaiju36 hour cialis, the first one I take during a trip works great. I had a 4 hour session with some non-pro chica, with multiple orgasms and it was still hard like a rock. I was drinking beer and vodka.

Usually the subsequent Cialis I take on the trip don't have the same strong affect.

Viagra made my face turn red and my big head have a pounding feeling.

Cialis is about 380 pesos in Dom Rep.

Kaiju, thats why I love the Lapela aka Cialis aka Tadalafil, It gets me impressively rock hard and works though touch and my mentality as oppose to Viagra which is exactly as you described, gets me semi hard without the mental or touch aspect. After a good climax with Cialis, I am ready for another round after a little snuggling. Love it!

Useful post MHL!

I have had most of those side effects with various incarnations of Cialis but only slightly and thankfully not all on the same occasions. If I do suffer one of them (and that would be maybe 50% of usages) I stay off ED drugs for 2 to 7 days (depending how strong the side-effect was).

La Pela may be milder as I have less side effects but also it sometimes fails to do the job. But I am 70 years old so I am probably pushing my luck taking any sort of meds and we can forgive it for failing to perform miracles now and then. Beer + ED drugs guarantees me a severe headache the next day, but then I am not a hardened drinker anyway.

Im not a doctor, but all ED drugs permit blood flow for the act, and its natural for the penis to reduce again after the climax. The Viagara or Cialis will permit blood flow again, but (except for a lucky few) the male body needs a little time before its ready to start again. (Ah, to be 20!).

There are some drugs reputed to shorten the recovery time, but am not familiar with what would maintain a hard erection after climax. (Might even be dangerous).
(But would LOVE to hear about it).

Is there a doctor in the house?

I know a guy who has diabetes and can't get it up for anything, ED pills don't work for him. He use to inject something in his penis to get hard and it worked great, but he had an increase chance of getting and STD from all the *****s he was with. (injection at the base of the penis). He then started using something called Muse (i think) it was a little tablet you insert in the head of your penis and when it disolves your rock hard for like 1:30. He swore by it, I've seen it on the internet but yet to see a store that sells it.

Once, I accidently took 2 cialis in the same day and was rock hard for like 5 hours, my chica was going crazy. She gave up after 3.5 hours.

(CNN) -- September 30, 2010 6:05 p.m. EDT -- Ecuador teetered on the verge of a government collapse Thursday, as national police took to the streets of Quito, the capital, and physically attacked the president over what police say was the cancellation of bonuses and promotions.

The government declared a one-week state of emergency Thursday afternoon and put the military in charge of security. The military said it will support the president and the nation's democratic institutions.

"This is a coup attempt," President Rafael Correa said in a TV interview a couple of hours after police lobbed tear gas at him....http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/09/30/ecuador.violence/index.html?hpt=T2

Not to beat a dead horse (too much), last month Ayyyypapi and a couple of others were singing the praises of Ecuador as a place to retire to.

I know little about Ecuador or investing abroad. You may be entirely correct and Ecuador could be the worst place on the planet to retire to.

But:
1) Retiring to a country and investing there are two totally different things. One could very easily live in one country off the proceeds of one's investments in other countries. Many of us on this board are already doing that.

2) This sort of scuffle occurs frequently in Ecuador. Even those that have resulted in a change of regime won't have affected the lives of ex-pats quietly enjoying their lives and women, and this particular scuffle will soon fizzle out as even the US and Colombia, which are opposed to President Correa's policies, have unambiguously backed him as have the army and most senior police.

As I say, you may well be right in advising against retiring to Ecuador, but you need to explain your reasoning better.

2) This sort of scuffle occurs frequently in Ecuador...If I was unclear in prior posts, the concept is simple. One should not match long-term assets (a home) with short-term stability. I would discourage Americans from purchasing retirement homes in non-investment grade countries. Rent instead.

By the way, you wrote that these "scuffles" occur frequently in Ecuador. For the life of me, I can't recall the last time the president of Ecuador was "kidnapped" by the police; however, maybe you can.

Thank you for your courteous reply. I am not a big fan of buying property in Third World countries. If you ever need to move on you could lose a packet. But you don't have to buy a home to retire there. I live in the DR, a well-known property buyer's graveyard, but my money is better off invested while I pay rent. If the original article was an incitement to buy property then I am with you 100%.

Regarding the scuffles, I didn't mean exactly similar. I was thinking of:

2005: President Lucio Gutierrez deposed after two years, following massive protests in response to his attempt to overhaul the Supreme Court
2000: Jamil Mahuad, elected 1998, forced to step down as president after two years following indigenous protests led by Col Lucio Gutierrez
1997: President Abdala Bucaram, nicknamed "El Loco" ("the crazy one"), declared mentally unfit to rule after a year in power
1987: President Leon Febres Cordero kidnapped and beaten up by the army in protest at policies of privatisation and public expenditure cuts (some time ago but the nearest situation to the present).

It's the plumbing liquid used to unclog pipes in bathrooms and sinks. Apparently the one manunfactured in the DR has a higher acid level, causing more skin damage. I have read reports on the increased used of this product by girls, mostly to other girls to deform their faces.

What is the intended use by street prostitutes? Bad clients? Thieves? Guys with cheap ham and cheese sandwiches?

They always claim they carry weapons to protect themselves against other putas. But then I suppose it would undermine their sales promotion if they said they were for use on clients.

It is wicked stuff. The buildings manager where I live nearly suffocated himself just pouring down a toilet. You need to hold it at arm's length then clear the area fast.

I have to laugh when I think of the sometimes ridiculously over-protective health and safety regulations in Europe. The safety officers there would faint with shock if they saw some of the products on sale in the DR, the propane gas cylinders being ferried round on motoconchos, and let's not get onto the electrical wiring.

I see they are picking up SW's and some of the girls have this substance on them. Please, what is it?From Dominican Today:

Santo Domingo.- The drainpipe cleaner known as “the devil’s acid,” similar to the brand Drano and which has caused deaths and serious injuries to a large number of people nationwide, will no longer be sold to the public.

Consumer Rights Protection Institute (ProConsumidor) resolution 101-2010 bans the product’s sale to the final consumer, a measure to be enforced by its inspectors starting today Thursday.

The Hardware Dealers Association (Asodefe) and the Dominican Retailers Federation voiced their immediate support of the resolution, pledging to collaborate to discontinue its sale, also sold as the brand Plomerito (little plumber).

Because of the heartbreaking images, the victims’ testimonies, the acid of the devil isn’t a simple weapon, it’s a deadly weapon because the people are not only scarred for the rest of their lives, the substance penetrates the skin and affects the brain and vital organs, said ProConsumidor director Altagracia Paulino, who called on citizens to denounce the stores that continue its sale.

Numerous deaths and thousands of injuries are attributed to the caustic product in the last 10 years.http://www.dominicantoday.com/dr/local/2010/9/23/37060/Spate-of-attacks-leads-to-ban-of-drain-cleaner-devils-acid

Jetblue has $79 flights to SDQ from JFK, total round trip price for October departures on Tuesdays and Wednesdays: $291.

Using the above code and the $79 each way fare, I found a six night all inclusive package (air and all inclusive hotel) in Bayahibe for $436 dollars. Jetblue Promo code expires October 6.

Hotels.com has a promo code that takes 10% off when you book for two or more nights, the code is OCTOBER10, it worked on some Dom Rep hotels, the code expires October 10.

The price difference between JB AA and Continetal is only $80 and with Continental due to my status I always get upgraded and I can bring up to 3 bags up to 70lbs each for free. The cheapest one way fare I found in October on American is $125 each way. American from what I see has only one direct flight per day to SDQ from JFK.

Jetblue has several non-stop flights from JFK to SDQ per day. Bigger seats and more legroom on jetblue than the economy seats on continental or american.

Early morning departures from JFK and evening departures from SDQ, using jetblue, I get more time on the ground in DR.

Fellow mongers,

I am looking for help with determining my cost of living part time in the DR, POP to be specific. I now visit almost monthly for a week at a time but due to certain changes in my life I will be spending more time in the DR than in Colombia over the next year or so therefore I will be renting an apartment in POP on my next visit in a few weeks. I will spend about a third of my time in POP and the rest in the USA

I know asking what the cost of anything is can be very subjective and prices vary but any thoughts are welcome. I have asked some of the locals during my visits and have an idea but the more answers I get the more informed I will be.

Apartments, two bedroom, nothing fancy in one of the "local" barrios, not in the worst area and not a complete shithole but not a gringo palace either. I have lived amongst the locals both in Colombia and the DR, so I know what to expect.

Electricity for above apartment

Cable service

Internet service

Weekly food costs: yeah I know this one is an unfair question due to many variables but I thought I would throw it out there. I am used to eating the local cooking but don't know what to expect on cost.

Can someone point me to where I should go to look for furniture, appliances and general household furnishings as I have nothing there at the moment.

Any helpful comments are welcome,

Thanks

I have an apartment in Santo Domingo in a decent area but with the locals.

2 bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, bathroom, very big balcony, back patio 7,500.

150 for permanent water

~1,000 for electricity (I have air conditioning)
1,400 deposit for edesur

~1,300 for internet and phone (no cable as I do not watch too much TV)
Claro

~500 every 6 months for propane

It cost me 16,000 for air in one of the bedrooms with installation.

22,000 for an inversor, can't run air or refrigerator on it but the rest of the house runs fine.

30,000 for a refrigerator, stove and gas tank.

40,000 for living room furniture and a cheap dining room set from Ikea.

40,000 for a bed and bedroom furniture.

Food is fairly cheap, plaza lama has good price as does jumbo (don't know what is in your area).

I don't know if I left anything out. I bought new locks and installed myself, ceiling fans, floor fans, washing machine.

My girl stays with me when I'm their like every two weeks, cooks and cleans, etc.

Over all much cheaper than a hotel for the time that I stay there, I have a lot of clothes it's very comfortable and safe.

I have photos that I'll post later.

With the ex, I had a casita in Cerro Norte, just north of Los Alcarrizos, off the autopista. Upper floor of duplex with 3 bedrooms, two baths, kitchen with pass thru to dining area/living room, big balcony and a little room on the roof where I put the washing machine. No a/c. Was there about four months and for Xmas, we went to Sosua for about ten days. When we returned, the washing machine was gone from the roof and I had placed the four inversor batteries outside under the back stairs to the roof in an iron box welded to the stairs, they were all gone too. 7500P a month.

Are the batteries off the floor and enclosed in some type of casing to keep them from getting wet from the rain?

I hope you have thick metal bars on the outside of the balcony. Small thin metal bars will not stop thieves.

The metal bars are actually welded concrete rebar, very secure. Also, we have a colmado downstairs and a landlord that is always home. Also to get into the staircase you have to unlock the downstairs gate and walk upstairs and open the upstairs gate.

Very secure.

The Colmado is convienent and not noisy at all, the landlord is an old Dominican guy that lived in the states for quite some time and retired to the island. He coughs a lot, and loud in the middle of the night, but not too much of a problem.

I'm in the process of looking for another place as they are almost finished with a Nice apartment building near where I live and the 2 bedrooms are going for 5k with parking. I plan on buying a car and the secure parking would be a must.

I have parked my rental in front of my house and neighborhood kids have hit it while playing and one day I found the hood unlocked but nothing was taken.

I'll take some pictures of the area when I'm down next Friday.

Hi,
What are your motives for this trip? pure mongering, or some culture a journey back into the 50s...??????
In case it is pure mongering fast simple stressfree sex go for the DR.
Have you read the Cuba thread so far???
In Cuba prostitution is illegal hence you will not find any brothels, strip clubs, casas...
Chicas are constantly threatened by the police, you will not be able to walk around with your girl in public.
You can bring girls into your hotel but this is very expensive, most casas particulares are not girl friendly, or the girls get registered by the landlord of your casa. Landlords are required to show their registration book once a month to the cuban authorities.
In cuba public transportation is a pain in the ass, in order to check out havana( or wherever you are going to stay) you will 1 spend alot of money on taxis ( for tourists) colectivos are only for cubans, or 2 you will have to rent a car.

Tourist centers/areas, all over the country, but especially in havana have a heavy police presence ( Vedado, centro de havana, Miramar...) so your best option will be to get a casa a bit outside of havana, in order to avoid the police and to enjoy some cubanas.

If you bring US dollars to cuba, every time you are going to exchance money there will charge you 10% fine. In Cuba there are 2 currencies 1 peso cubano which cubans use and which does not buy you anything. 2 peso convertible which you will use to pay tourist taxis, beer, chicas....

Havana is a dangerous city especially at night avoid dark street try to hang out in groups. The only time i got robbed in my life was in havana.
Read the cuba thread/D.R. thread and if there are any questions left come back and ask.

I do not know that much about Columbia, but I do nto see as how it would even be a question. You have got to go to the DR

Hey guys. I am giong to be making my first international mongering trip at the beginning of the year (jan sometime). I have one question. If you had to choose between the Dominican Republic and Colombia, where would you go?

I only have enough for one trip in 2011 and I want it to be memorable. Woman wise, which destination is more appealing? You left alot of info out, do you speak spanish? Do you like to be spoon fed or do you like to hunt?, and what type of chicas do you like?

Being its your first trip I would suggest Black Beards because everything is basic and predictable and you can figure out if you want to expand from there.

I guess since you only have enough for one trip this is a biggie to you. Black Beards has the pricing structure already established, plus a bar and easy enviornment. Don't over think this GO TO BB.

Once you break your international mongering virginity, and can up your trips with more frequency then expanding is an option.

Colombia is the greatest place on earth to me. But the DR has the fire and spice. Colombia is something you have to graduate to. Its a different vibe with different creatures. You have to have some game, and learn how to play under its rules. The DR is wide open and free, it uzes sex. Plus the DR has enough bravado to initially excite you. Once you go you will be counting your pennies for a return.

I am not a fan of BB. I think you can do better on your own. If I want to save money I just go out on my own. If I want to have a more organzied trip I go to a more upscale trip, then I spend a little more money. So what are you thinking of spending?

I haven't been to Columbia, but I would say that Sosua, DR would be ideal for a first international mongering trip for various reasons.

1. It is quite close to the US, so short flight from Miami (90 mins).
2. Airport is small and close to town (5 miles), so no stress.
3. Town is small and you can go everywhere on foot if you want, so no stress about transportation. Or use cheap motoconchos for short distances if hot and/or tired.
4. Plenty of English speaking restaurants and bars everywhere within walking distance.
5. Fairly nice beach within walking distance. Beach has many stalls, bars, and restaurants.
6. Plenty of suitable hotels at reasonable prices.
7. Mongering area is fairly compact.
8. Relatively safe vis-a-vis crime and muggings. Lots of tourists around day and night.
9. All kinds of other relaxing things available, all within walking distance, for example barber, massage, pedicure--all cheap compared to US.
10. Plenty of ATMs available, or money change places.
11. Chicas everywhere, they will find you.

So overall Sosua is very easy for a first international trip, because everything you need is at hand and you don't have to worry about the stress of navigating a foreign culture. If you don't speak Spanish, at least it is fairly easy to understand some of the words and communicate with signs.

Especially for someone who has never mongered internationally before.

As Westys recent report indicated, Sosua can be overwhelming. BB is a good starting point and you can always visit Sosua for future intel. The main benefit about BB is the set pricing structure. Negoitiating in Sosua can go a foul at any time, and the performance can leave you frustrated. And please don't give the impression that Sosua is crime free. You have to maintain your wits at all times. Sosua has traps that after 20 visits I still have to remind myself to look out for.

The Sosua is easy & fun. I love the DR. I live in Punta Cana, but was born in the US. I was just surprised by that someone thought that the girls in the DR were not good looking. I disagree. They are great. You will have a great time and you will get laid. It is impossible to not get laid in PP/Sosua.

I wouldn't say that Sosua is crime-free, but it is safe enough to walk around 24 hours a day without much risk of getting mugged. People try to swindle you in all kinds of little ways, but in the DR it is more at the individual level. In the US you will find yourself systematically swindled by businesses on a bigger scale.

One thing that people forget is that there are plenty of tourists in Sosua and Caberete who are not there for the mongering, and I don't think they find the place particularly dangerous.

As far as negotiating with girls I don't have any comparative data for Colombia, but although I have certainly picked a few duds in Sosua, in general I am amazed and often surprised at the quality of the sexual experiences that I have had. For a man in his fifties to have a wonderful passionate sexual experience with a young woman of 20 is considered improbable beyond the bounds of reality in most people's minds, yet in Sosua such a thing is common and unremarkable and I have had more than I could ever count.

Obviously, no matter what destination you go to, your own ability to forge a bond and chemistry (albeit temporary) with a young woman will to some extent determine the quality of your experience. You can't just rate the girls on quality of performance as if they were automobiles. It is an interactive processs, and I find that most of the girls in the DR are pleasant, polite, humorous, and fun to be with. Of course there are some dogs, but the thrill of the chase lies in finding the ones who you have good empathy with, and the sexual chemistry will follow.

since the outbreak of cholera in haiti travelers should be aware what to do to avoid getting cholera.

the risk for cholera is very low for travelers visiting areas with epidemic cholera. when simple precautions are observed, contracting the disease is unlikely.

all travelers to areas where cholera has occurred should observe the following recommendations:

* drink only water that you have boiled or treated with chlorine or iodine. other safe beverages include tea and coffee made with boiled water and carbonated, bottled beverages with no ice.
* eat only foods that have been thoroughly cooked and are still hot, or fruit that you have peeled yourself.
* avoid undercooked or raw fish or shellfish, including ceviche.
* make sure all vegetables are cooked -- avoid salads.
* avoid foods and beverages from street vendors.
* do not bring perishable seafood back to the united states.

a simple rule of thumb is

"boil it, cook it, peel it, or forget it. "

I would like to purchase a cell phone as a gift for a friend in the DR. I know next to nothing about cell phones.

Can I purchase the phone in the States and have it be functional in the DR? Or is that a bad idea? Would I get a better or worse deal in the DR? Where is a good place to make such a purchase in POP?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Just buy one in the DR. I live here and I have a cell service in the US also. If you use your US cell you will pay roaming fees. Mine are $2 a minute. You can buy a cheap phone for less than $30 and then just pay buy the minutes. Way less expensive. Also Skype is really a great system if you have a laptop

Any advice will be appreciated.I bought my serious GF an unblocked cell phone from Newegg.com, a Samsung touch screen type phone, quad band, originally made for AT&T. I paid about $125, the phone comes with headphones, charger, stylus pen, a USB cable and a samsung disc with a samsung phone manager program (the program is in numerous languages including spanish).

She took the phone to a Claro shop and they changed the settings so it would work in DR and they installed a SIM card (chip), and she transferred her old phone number to her new phone. Total cost with minutes added was about $10 US.

If you buy a phone to take with you, get one that takes a SIM card. About a year ago I bought a zte brand cell phone at claro for about 500 pesos (about 13US) with minutes, the phone works, but the numbers on the screen are super small.

There is a claro shop in the airport in SDQ.

I bought, rooted, and unlocked Android phone before leaving the States. Purchased a Claro SIM for 290 DP and was up and running as soon as the card was activated. Being an Android phone the contacts and etc. synced with my gmail account and I have Internet in many locations.

An easy way to get almost any phone unlocked is to use this site. Cost me about $20 and had the code and instructions the next morning.

If you do bring a smart phone into the DR make sure you turnoff all data roaming since most plans charge about $15/MB which can add up to big dollars vary fast.

I am planning a trip to the North Coast in January. (I know with the crackdown and all this may not be the best idea, but I had already booked my ticket when all that went down.) It doesn't really upset me that I may have to look for chicas indoors. I have only mongered in Amsterdam, so this will be my maiden voyage to the third world.

I have been researching the DR thoroughly for a while now. I read the Teflon Monger blog, but I am wondering if there are any other monger blogs of a similar nature I could check out. I would appreciate any links or info you guys can offer.

I am planning to stay 6 nights. My first night I want to do New Garden followed by 3 nights at Barba Negra, then back to NG for the remainder. From what I have gathered this sounds like a pretty solid plan for a first-timer, and should make the crackdown easy enough to navigate my way around.

I have read the Sosua forum all the way back to Jan of '08 to get an idea of what I'm looking at. If anyone has any additional advice to offer that is off the beaten path, or something I may have missed, I would appreciate that as well.

I'd like to thank everyone who posts for putting up info that has been instrumental in planning this.

Hey MiamiHeatLuver,

You wanted to know about that product Blackantusa? Works very well although I have never tried (Viagra or Cialis). I tried on my frist day stayed hard for 45min. Plus, but the great thing is after getting one nut off was ready to go again an hour later. Had no side effects even worked while having several drinks. Thanks for the tip! Great pics in the Sosua forum.

Apart from mongering, I have another reason for my visit to the DR. I am interested in exploring the Afro-Caribbean religion/magic culture here. Santeria, Yoruba, Voudoun, Lucumí, etc. I know Haiti is probably a better choice for the exploration of such things, but I am a little hesitant to go there at the moment.

Have any of you encountered this aspect of the culture? Are there stores in places like Puerto Plata or Sosua that sell materials related to these practices?

Any resources that anyone can offer on this subject would be greatly appreciated. It is always something that has fascinated me in the anthropological sense, and I look forward to having an opportunity to explore it so near to it's ground zero in the Americas.

I have been traveling to the DR for four years. I have just spent the last two months ALL over the island. This experience was different for me than my last trips. The biggest difference is that I had the opportunity to live in Colombia last year for 9 months. So, I have more to compare to.

I found myself arriving to the DR with rose colored glasses. Every day and night thereafter was a love / hate roller coaster. In the end, I have to conclude that everything and anything is possible to find in the DR. Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you don't. Everyone should expect the DR experience not to be served on a silver platter.

Punta Cana. I love the beach and a little city called Cortocita. I can party hard and Club Mangos is the best night life the DR has to offer. There a several casa de citas that open and close on a regular basis. Everyone links to think that "the BEST girls are at. " But the truth is most DR girls can not determine if they are attractive, hot, sexy. They can not evaluate if a man is handsome either. It is really just a base sex act 99% of the time.

There are exceptions. But that takes time and relationship building. I had a couple of girl friends in Punta Cana. These are working girls that would prefer to be with me for no pay. Just party. But, I would see them at Mangos. Or the German Bar. Working when we were not together.

The general complexion of women in the Punta Cana region are dark. When you see variety is comes from other parts of the island.

Boca Chica. This place is either a shit hole or a paradise depending on how big of monger you are. The beach is probably the ugliest in the island. Puntas are wall to wall day and night. There are some casas in the neighborhoods.

The fucking street guys try to hook you up – and that always is a BAD THING. There are also excellent sales people so even when you tell them to fuck off, somehow they can stick to you like glue.

The women can be just like the street guys. And just when you are about to get pissed, you meet a sweetheart that changes your view and everything is 100% all over again. The night life is a little sparse. Definitely not world class.

Santo Domingo – Now this place was a real surprise. The zona colonial reminds you a little of the French Quarter in New Orleans and old Miami Beach. It is on my map as a comer as far as a tourist destination. The women can be a little more professional at the night clubs. Behind the big casinos you find the monger playground.

I found the prices to be a little high in Santa Domingo (and Santiago) compared with what I was able to negotiate in Punta Cana and Boca Chica. But, then again it could have just been a matter of time. I only stayed in Santo Domingo a couple days – so I was a big target.

There is a rich area of town where I got nice reception from non-working girls (I prefer that when given the choice). I had a couple of mongers tell me that non-working rich girls was in impossibility. But, I found the opposite to be true. I think we all need to be mindful of our league and game. If you have a little, you can play the non-pro field in the DR (But it is hard to find a non-pro there)

Santiago. I held out GREAT hope for this city. I thought I was going to find muchos flacitas and blancas. I went to the hot spots the city offered on a Friday night. It was a sausage festival – more guys than girls. PLUS, it was like being at a FAT girl beauty contest. (THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF MY DESIRES).

I was sort of floored with disappointment, so I went south of town to the strip clubs. Nothing to write home about here either. I went back to the casino where I was staying the place that presumably was one of the late night hot spots. I was kindly talking to a fat girl in the reception area when her handler gave me the good news – for just 200 US, I could spend the night with Ms. Piggy. No thanks – give it to the next lucky guy.

The next day I did tour the Catholic university and the other university in Santiago. Again, a great self esteem builder. If I was to spend any additional time in Santiago, this is where I would go. The prettiest and smartest girls are easy pickens. Pay? You always pay something but in these cases, it is generally a gift and dinner and a generous taxi fare home.

Costanzia and Martes Franfran – Two little mountain town VERY far off the beaten track. Both have a high concentration of European genes in the population. NO monger action. But, that does not mean there is not action. I went straight to the church and central park, and within 30 minutes the Catholic priest was introducing me to the best and brightest in town. Obviously, this takes more time and patients. But, if you are looking for something special it can be found at these two special cities.

Sassou – Just like Boca Chica, except more of it. I found the service to be less than the tease in many cases. I was robbed and scammed. But, I put myself in riskier situations than normal, so I am not bitchin. I am just saying that you have to hold on to your hat if you are going to take a walk on the wild side in this town. There are also places like Passion. These are layups – good selection; good rates; clean rooms. But, I like my women a little less trafficked.

Cabarete – My favorite place on the island, personally. Great night life and kite boarding. Bamboo and Unnos will show you the talent of working and tourists. Not hard to find some tourist action – girls need it too. But a word of caution. There are many hot skinny white girls that come to Cabarate for the young black guys with tons of game – Sankys. They are almost impossible to out game. If a chick is open to them – you will lose 99% of the time.

Across the street from Bamboo is The Arriba – 30 dollars US will do you – and the selection deteriorates. A little down the street is the Casino late night. After 3:00 AM this can get pretty ugly.

There are a couple of boutique ***** houses on the north coast. I checked some out. Pretty much just a bird cage with too much of just one thing in my opinion, but to each his own.

I also spend a couple nights in Samana (Les Terranenes too) Really, by this point, it was just more of the same. The environment was a little more Polynesian for some reason. Pretty remote. Poor night life. Poor selection of women by comparison with the other cities cited above.

In sum, the DR is a great place for a quick get-away. The more time and investment you make in the people and culture, the more it comes back to you. The women can be good service providers. It is possible to find a study girl friend – that is how I got my best action.

It would be difficult, in my opinion, to find anything more than that. The women lack the style and grace to be taken very seriously. They would not plug into a modern world easily. But it is close and can be inexpensive – not cheap by the way. I was constantly surprised how expensive everything except lodging was. Even the beers are a little pricey, but damn Presidentes are good.

I will go back from time to time for business, but I will be without that optimistic ragging hardon of my first several trips. I have seen this island now inside and out, and I know the best to be had is likely 20 minutes out of the airport – no hidden magic valley of perfect pussy to be found. Bottom line: my best night in the DR was equal to a mediocre night in Cali or Medellin.

BUT, I like petite girls. If you like Phat asses and big natural tits and TONS of them, the DR could be heaven for you.

Pay attention to what Iam Zon wrote below - it's an excellent summary, right on the money.

I personally value Las Terrenas more that he does and like Presidente and S.D. less, but that's about it. If you're not ready to put up with a LOT of fucked up situations, don't travel here.

I had three cell phones with DR phone numbers. 2 were prepaid verizon phones that I bought at Walmart for $20-$30, that I had unlocked in DR and programmed for use in DR. My main DR verizon brand samsung cell died. The other two cell phones I had not used in in over 6 months in DR and when I went to use them this past trip I received a message saying I had to reactivate or something like that.

I visited the claro office at the santo domingo airport. The prepaid verizon samsung phone, which had previously been unlocked and had a DR number, that phone the chica at claro was unable to reactivate. I visited the main claro office in santo domingo and they said I would need to go to a dealer to get the phone reactivated. The prepaid verizon samsung cell phones do not have sim cards (chips).

The 500 peso ZTE brand Claro cell that I had purchased and used on a prior trip, I had to buy a new sim card for that phone. The chica at the claro office in the airport installed a new sim card and gave me a new number for the ZTE cell, with minutes the cost was around 400 pesos.

The ZTE has a small screen and the numbers are very small, I couldn't tell who was calling me. I dislike that phone.

I will be buying a new phone to use in DR. I was told cell phones that take sim cards are better. ATT and T-Mobile cell phones here in the states take sim cards.

I bought a refurbished pantech link cell phone from the ATT website for $30, it has a keyboard and looks like a blackberry type phone. Could be a good phone to bring to DR to use as a "gift" or a carrot a la bugs bunny (like Helpmann).

Newegg.com has numerous no contract phones, that are supposedly unlocked. I may buy one from newegg with a keyboard. Texting chicas in DR might be better than speaking with them over the phone when setting up dates. I figure if I have a phone with a keyboard it will be easier to text.

Some phones come with wifi and gps. I don't know if those are useful features to have in DR. GPS could be nice, especially late at night if I drive a chica home and she lives in the bowels of some barrio and I have to figure out how to get back to the main road.

When I was in the Claro office I saw a brochure for internet access for mobile devices. One plan was pay as you, 100 pesos for one day and 100mb max for downloads. I would have to buy the router for the mobile device from claro for around 1700 pesos.

Not all hotels give free internet, other hotels sometimes the free internet service is not functioning. I would like to have the option of connecting to the internet whenever and wherever using claro for 100 pesos for the day, but the 100mb download limit has me concerned (I would just want to see news and read and send emails, not download files).

I have never used an internet connection that has a limit on the amount you can download. Maybe someone who has experience can chime in.

Greetings,

I just came back from the DR not to long ago. I've always had a hard time finding words to explain my experiences so I don't think I will do anyone justice writing up a long trip report. I don't pay here so no pictures from me to tell a story.

I would like to post a thank you to all those who have answered any queries I've had about the DR before my trip. You've been spot on with your information and I really appreciate your help. Thank you very much indeed gentlemen.

Although I studied extensively on the DR before my trip nothing really totally prepared me for what I saw and experienced down there. Ultimately I'm glad I went.

A few quick words:

Where to stay:

I decided to rent a condo for my stay. It was a wise choice. I had daily maid service, WIFI. 24/7 security, private beach, access to heated Jacuzzi's and a pool. The condo was very spacious and had all the modern conveniences of TV's, CD (mp3) player, fridge, stove, etc. As a convenience, I could exchange money from the management office before going out for the day. It was chica friendly like you wouldn't believe. And I took advantage of that almost daily.

What town to stay in:

For my first trip down to the DR, I opted to stay in Cabarete. I would then travel to Sosua, Puerto Plata and everywhere else in-between. Another wise choice. Cabarete was a lot of fun and I fell in love with the Dominicans there. I found them to be fun and a good people. I was not prepared to witness their poverty however. The drive from the airport to Cabarete gave me tears in my eyes. The constant surf of Cabarete was astounding. I hardly ever left the beach.

What kind of transportation to use:

Even though I was warned not too, I opted to rent a vehicle. I had a 2011 SUV. Driving around the DR? In a word, terrifying but I'd do it again in a heart beat. It's a freedom thing. Not to mention impressing the chicas. It is not for everyone however. So I won't call you a coward if you opt for the Motor Conchos instead of your own wheels.

Women:

I've fallen in love with the Dominican woman. I found them to be very beautiful inside and out. But most are very illiterate. Their skin? Smooth but their bodies are thick and dark. Awesome. Their hair was either black or tinted red or blonde. This made them more attractive to me and when they smiled at you, man oh man, it floored me on my ass. They all like to wear tight jeans and shirts that show their mighty cleavage. And mighty are their breasts! This is the boob capital of the world! And I love it.

I'm fighting a strange type of depression from having to come back to America. I hope it leaves me soon. At any rate, I will return to the DR for sure. Ciao.

That link is dead.Previously I posted I unlocked my phone at unlock. Com. After returning to the states I see the URL should have been http://www.unlock2go.com/ Instead. I used the phone on both Claro and Orange networks without any problems. Orange seemed to have the best coverage.

I will be buying a new phone to use in DR. I was told cell phones that take sim cards are better. ATT and T-Mobile cell phones here in the states take sim cards.

One plan was pay as you. 100 pesos for one day and 100mb max for downloads. I would have to buy the router for the mobile device from claro for around 1700 pesos.

I have never used an internet connection that has a limit on the amount you can download. Maybe someone who has experience can chime in. Phones from AT&T and Sprint use a GSM network and a SIM card. Phones from Verizon and Sprint use a CDMA network and the data is stored on the phone's internal memory rather than the SIM card and this is why you need to have the phone programed at the office / store. The SIM card holds all the info about the phone and this is why you can put an active SIM in an unlocked phone and use it on the network the SIM is authorized on. From what I have read, both Orange and Claro are moving to a fully GSM network and GSM networks are the most common outside the US. Very simple explanation but the reason you would want a GSM phone rather than a CDMA phone.

A phone I have never used but might be great for the DR is the I9 phone which is an iPhone clone and has two SIM slots so you can us it on two networks at once. You can read a review here http://i9phonereview.com/new-i9-cell-phone-review Or buy here http://www.brandsdragon.com/products/product_28975.htm This phone was mentioned by another board member about a year ago and he used it as a carrot. Looks interesting and is less than $100.

The SIM I purchased from the guy at BB cost 300 pesos. With 100 pesos of air time which was cheaper than buying a phone.

Most smart phones can be used as a GPS but would require a data package to download the maps as you drive. At. 002 per KB this is expensive if roaming on your USA phone. If you have DR phone most of the data network on Orange was EDGE which is pretty slow and most likely not work well as a car type GPS. I learned the hard way to shut off roaming data as soon as you land in the DR. The Garmin GPS I took to the DR worked perfectly and you can buy one pretty cheap off NewEgg. You of course need to purchase DR maps to download to the GPS. I have posted before about my success using this GPS in the DR.

As far as data usage, I use about 115 MG of data a month on my Android phone and would consider myself a moderate user. 100 MB should last a couple of weeks or maybe a month. Just a guess here but if your SIM supports data the 100 pesos a day may not be too bad but the network is pretty slow most likely not be available outside major cities.

I was amazed the number of places in the DR that offer free WiFi and did not really miss not having data connectivity for my phone. Of course the $150 a night AI wanted $13 per day for internet. Go figure.

I may buy a Nokia unlocked cell from Amazon. Supposedly the phone has free lifetime Ovi maps. Not sure if Ovi has maps for the DR.

If you open Google Maps in firefox or google chrome browser, you can click the small box (Show My Location) above the zoom bar on the left hand of the map and your current physical location will be shown on a map. Shows my current location on a map when using my home computer which is connected to a lan network. Supposedly will work with other types of networks as well.

i have been in a few hotels in dr where the per day internet charge was $20 or more. some small hotels and some apartments don't provide internet. 100 pesos is $2. 77. supposedly you can recharge online at claro. i will ask about it my next trip to dr.

plaza espana in zona colonial, santo domingo had a sign saying that is was a wifi zone, maybe i'll try to connect there in the future to see how it is.

I am flying into and out of SDQ on my next trip. I saved enough cash by going this route vs. Buying regular tickets to POP or STI that it pays for my rental car. I will get in early afternoon on Thursday and plan on driving to the north part of the island that day, After a few days at BBs, I plan on meeting up with the novia and staying at a local apartment and then finally leaving to go tp SD for a day or more. Neither of us have spent time there.

Is it worth trying to see the SD sights in one day and then leaving the next? What hotels would you recamend? I want a nice hotel, but not overpriced. Sould I stay close to the airport. On my last day I am planning on sending the novia off on a Caribe Bus and I turn in my rental car. Please pass along any ideas or input that would help a southcoast newbie like me.

Thanks,

P

Greetings,

I just came back from the DR not to long ago. I've always had a hard time finding words to explain my experiences so I don't think I will do anyone justice writing up a long trip report. I don't pay here so no pictures from me to tell a story. This is so true. I just went for the second time in September. I still can't put it into words!

Hi there guys. I have had a lot of mongering experience in Europe and latin America, but have only been to the DR once before just for a week back in 2000. Anyway, I am planning to come for up to a month in late January / February 2011, and to mix it up between pro's and maybe a few internet ladies as potential girlfriends.

Anyway, I was thinking of the following programme, and would appreciate your advice / feedback. The first week to stay at a typical tourist hotel around Pueto Plata somewhere, just to settle in. Then a week at Blackbeards resort, not longer to start with as I am not sure if it would suit me there, then maybe a week or two travelling around, to Santiago, Santo Domingo etc, trying to meet some amateurs / internet girlfriends, and then to finish off with a week back at Blackbeards or a rental appartment back on the north coast. Does this sound like a good plan? I have tried to read as much as possible about the DR, but compared to a city like Buenos Aires for example I think there are so many more things to consider, and many aspects, ie travel, mobile phones, safety at night, chica friendly hotels etc seem a lot more complicated. But I think in the end I just need to come, there is only so much research I can do. At least compared to 10 years ago my Spanish is much better so that should help a lot. Anyway, any advice you have, please let me know !

Do you have a preference for the type of chica you like? I come across very few Haitians in Santo Domingo. If you want a good selection of Haitian chicas and Dominican chicas then Puerto Plata and the North Coast would be good.

If you prefer mostly lighter skin chicas then Santiago or La Vega.

Do you need to be near a beach? Do you need to have air conditioning? Will you have a problem hopping onto the back of a motorcycle taxi to use as transportation?

Do you want to be in a city with many people or do you want a small village type atmosphere? What kind of nightlife if any do you want? What types of things do you want to do during the day besides fucking?

Sosua is a small beach town where the beach, nightlife and supermarket are within walking distance. Puerto Plata is a busy city and depending where you stay, you may need to take motorcycle taxis (motoconchos) to get around.

Santiago has no beach, fairly quiet city, not many inexpensive pay for play places in Santiago. More lighter skinned people in Santiago and la Vega.

Santo Domingo is a big, busy city with a mix of people and venues for pay for play.

There are other small beach towns. Boca Chica as reported by Bq Ribs recently has many haitian chicas. Juan Dolio is a quiet beach town with some pay for play action. La Romana is a medium sized town with very expensive complex called casa de campo, with berths for expensive yachts. Bayahibe is a small beach town with many Italians. Boca de Yuma small fishing village. Higuey nice fun city.

Bavaro / Punta Cana has been built up since I was last there, I have seem some nice condominium apartments for rent there and there is pay for play action there.

Cabarete gets guys and gals from many parts of the world who go there for the wind related sports. Cabarete is a pleasant small beach town which has had many new buildings constructed in the last few years.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, you have left me spoilt with options! I suppose ideally I would like to go to a medium sized town with a bit of life, where the people are friendly, not over exposed to tourists or out to totally rip them off, and relatively safe. Somewhere for example where if I came across a pretty, busty, curvy natural Dominican in a shop or wherever, I would stand a chance of chatting her up. Also a place with a few clubs nearby with some curvy ladies in them at reasonable prices, as if I go there it is for great sex, I don't need champagne or the livliest club on the island for that.

I am more into curvy natural ladies than skinny model types, and I guess like Morenas as much as black girls. When you say lighter skinned I suppose it is all relative anyway, as the average girl I have seen on the net from Santiago is definitely darker than say a Spanish lady. I would think Santago is maybe the kind of town I am looking for? When you asked me about a beach etc, well that's why I said I would like to spend some time at the beach and some time travelling around. I like the beach, but I'm not obsessed with it. Could you tell me anything else about Higuey or La Vega, maybe they're the types of place I'm looking for? Thanks again!

By lighter skin I mean like Amelia Vega, former Miss Universe who was born in Santiago. There are Haitians and dark skin chicas in Santiago and in all towns and cities in DR. Just if you are playing the percentages and you like light skin chicas then Santiago has a greater percentage of light skin chicas.

Many guys like Haitian chicas and those guys usually go to the North Coast or Boca Chica.

Picking up non-pros or semi-pros is doable, you have to know a little bit of Spanish. Join the internet social networking sites and you can meet DR chicas.

I was in Higuey for one night, a Saturday night and I found it to be an enjoyable town. I was the only foreign guy in just about every bar and club I went into. I visited one open air brothel type place in Higuey and the chicas were not skinny.

I have had this conversation with other guys, there is only so much fucking you can do in a day. I need something else to occupy my time after the sex. Swimming, scuba diving, walking around, sitting at a nice outdoor cafe watching the world pass by, eating, getting drunk are all things that guys do when they are not fucking in DR.

Some DR chicas learn some English, you may want to try to meet a chica who speaks a little English and get to know her and possibly invite her to travel to a different city with you. You would be paying for the transportation, room and board, but you would have a nice female companion who could order the meals and do all the talking in Spanish. If you are a good guy, chicas will want to travel with you. Many chicas work or study at University and are often only free on the weekends, other chicas have more free time.

DR less attractive for investments.

Economist and coordinator of the Human Development Office for the United Nations, Miguel Ceara-Hatton pointed out in his participation in the year's end economic debate on TeleAntillas, Channel 2, said that the DR is less attractive for investors. He mentioned worsening of public services, unskilled labor force, institutional deterioration and violation of the rule of law as major factors affecting foreign investment. He said these problems worsened in 2010. Moreover, he criticized the government's priorities, and called unsustainable the rising public debt, as reported in Hoy. He said interest payments alone on the foreign debt are at 2% of GDP already. He acknowledged 2010 ended with exemplary macroeconomic stability, he mentioned the fiscal deficit, deteriorating trade balance with the US and the fact that none of the Millennium Objectives have been met. He said that the present economic model while producing wealth generates exclusion. He said there is no excuse for a country with 7% GDP growth has an unemployment rate of 14. He said that the present all-inclusive tourism resort model excludes the communities from benefits of the industry.

Yeah, I stayed there back in '08. It was ok, decent, clean attentive nice staff. Pool is big and nice. Lot of Euros who pretty much kept to themselves. Directly across the street is a bar owned by a cool Expat American guy with "girls" available named Cuba Libre bar. Short walk from the hotel you also have Mens Paradise bar and Pasions amply supplied with girls. Pretty far from Classicos, but you could always take a moto and get there in 2mins.

The draw back for me was I hadn't been in DR in a while so as soon as I checked in I grabbed a chica and the staff was looking at me like I was crazy. They didn't say anything but I found out later that the owners were attempting to establish a family oriented vibe. I stayed about 2 days. Price was good.

Peace BBL.
