I've been in Bucharest for one night, as my previous message, but it was enought to try what the scene has to offer.

Just oout of the door, Daniela started to claim with the taxi driver: she was really upset, and this make me think that something between their agreement didn't go in the right way..

Then I went to the bell-boy, to understand what did happen, and he told me that the taxi driver asked to go up just to have the money for the taxi from the girl, but he would have come down immediatly after receiving it. This, of course, was not the reality.

So, just to give you a suggestion: if you tell a taxi driver to take a girl in your room, set up to give him the money at the beginning, and tell the bell-boy not to allow anyone to go up in your room.. stupid suggestion for many of you, but for beginners as me, this can help a lot!!

100 Euro/hour is commonly quoted for westerns- whiich can equated to 150 Euro for two hours. Most feel this is a westerner rip off price although enough casual visitors go for this to make it a reasonable propostion for the girl to make.

Depending on the quality of the girl (or their financial need) 150 Euro for a day might work. 250 Euro for 24 hours is a more likely figure for a good quality girl. See where 150 Euro takes you, but don't be surprised if you get a slap in the face.

Andy Cap and Oetziboy, you both got it all wrong! The girl is not asking for a GSM card, she already has one (the one she will call from) and neither is she asking you to set up a subscription for her.

What she is really asking for is a valid code from a rechargable phone card, in Romanian a "cartela de reincarcare", the ones where you buy any given amount of credit from one to a hundred dollars and then enter the code and recharge your phone with talk time.

As Vlad2005 correctly says, it's a very common and well-known scam. During my time in Romania I regularely recieved messages from girls on dating sites asking me to send them a rechargable code if I wanted to get in touch with them. Some girls even write it in their profile description.

The unknown number stuff is crap. If she just wants to talk to you she can call from any public phone. And think about it, why would you even consider getting involved with a girl who is not willing to spend a few cents to hear your voice? And even though Romania is still a relatively poor country, mind you we are no longer in 1992! Anyone can afford the cheapest phone card!

In case you go through with it and send her a code, do send her the lowest amount available instead of trying to impress her/him with a large amount. I mention this only because guys not thinking with the head between their shoulders tend to ignore even the most obvious signs of a scam because they so much want their fantasy and illusion be true.

I also think I must mention that what Oetziboy writes about having to present a passport and/or ID when buying a GSM card is true only if you want a subscription (abonament). In the case of a pre-paid card (pre-platit) no papers are necessary.

Have a nice trip to Romania, but when dealing with this type of girls do be careful and don't forget your street smarts. Romania is a wonderful, peaceful and non-violent country but still one of the top capitols of scam.

I was 2-3 night in Bucharest also very near Intercontinental almost each night. But i was so un lucky i suppose that. I could not find any one. At last the hotel reception guy offer us but the price really very high such a city like that and 100 € / hr. This made me very upset.

Bucharest is not cheap city ( may be we do not know enough.)

just returned from bucharest trip and i must say i do not get along with that city. it was my second visit and again i was quite disappointed with the attitude of the girls.

I have been living in Romania for three months now and can vouch for the fact the Viking's comments are 100% accuarate.

I repeat my advice: get out of the centre of Bucuresti, TALK to people ( I speak broken Romanian, but almost every body has some English if they are young, and French if they are older) and treat the girls nicely and as people!

I have had some very good experiences with 'amateurs' in the country and smaller cities, never paying more than 60 euros...what they call here 'two million', and usually as little as 10 or 15 euros, but I also take them out for a meal or buy some clothes or make up. One note on Romanian money: the currency is Ron, but people still speak in old lei; so 'one million' is 100 ron: about 30 euros or 20 GBP.

Prices are still very cheap with a beer at between 2 ron for a draught beer to 5 for a bottle of Stella, and that is bar prices. If you go to the supermarkets like Billa or Kaufland you can stock up food and drink for a week for 3 people for 200 ron, say 60 euros. I know I do it every week.

If you know Hotel İntercontinental I can give you a few tips. The street infront of the hotel İntercontinental is the street that you're looking for. When you give your back to the hotel, the street on the right side, starting with the hotel. Not sure but it must be Blvd. Magheru.

You can find and see all the good and the bad things on the same street.

I don't know how much you know about Bucharest but I know only the basic places. If some more experienced members helps us, it could be more useful.

Lets start a day;

1. Between 19:00 – 21:00 After a business day, start the night with a little drink at Irish Pub. I prefer the Harp Irish Pub on the Piata Uniri. You can get the info from http://www.irishpubs.ro, the address and all other details. Have a drink there and relax, maybe you you can take a sandwich.

2. Afterwords take a taksi to intercontinental. When you get to Blvd. Magheru you’ll have a few alternatives till the activity time.

Stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel with following experience:

- No action in the hotel at all - the bar was desserted.

- Outside you walk into pimps offering ladies. Initial charge was EUR 120 for one hour. Was able to get it down to EUR 100 for 2 hours including commission. I was in Romania five weeks this summer, but didn't partake the P4P scene.

I must say that I loved Bucarest. It’s chaotic, incoherent, there's scammers, gypsies, pickpockets, pimps and scary vicious-looking people at almost every corner, and it’s definitely not for everybody. But the city has a very special and very pleasant atmosphere. I felt good there I must say.

Also there’s stunning women everywhere. For the guys like me who have a fascination for tall and thin brunettes, it’s simply paradise. Like in Moldova (and everywhere else in EE I guess), women in Romania are dressed in a very slutty style and vie with each other to show the most they can. I must say that on the first days I spent my time with my mouth wide open and drooling all over my shirt. I also liked the way they think, with a very easy going attitude towards everything, and a kind of 'resigned' state of mind.

Once again, my interest during this trip was essentially scoring/fucking non-pros (because of the length of my stay, I had a 120 €/day budget which did not allowed me to consider P4P), so I can’t report about pros places. Anyway, I have the feeling that Bucarest is NOT a good place in that respect and that guys who are strictly P4P players have no reasons to come here. But for those who have still 'some' skills and enjoy the non-pro chase game, it’s really a good place.

Here’s a summary of my favorite hunting grounds (for regular girls) :

Simply ask for a brothel... You will get driven there.

Nights in the EE mentality are not for sex, but jut for girls company, so taking them to bed is out of market.

Always think that you can not take your habits or ideas to another country. Sometimes it do not even work between cities in the same country!

I just want to report about my trip to Bucharest (and rest of romania) earlier this year (June and July).

To put things into perspective, I'm 28, canadian but of romanian origin (been in Canada for 10 years). So I'm familiar with Romania, Bucharest and I speak fluent Romanian.

Currency - RON (new Lei - lei vechi) and ROL (old lei - lei vechi). Try to always negotiate and talk about prices in RON. 1 RON = 10 000 ROL

This summer: 1USD= 2. 7 RON 1CDN=2. 5 RON (however, bring USD with you, you'll have a hard time changing CDN dollars at this rate) 1 EUR=3. 5 RON

On to mongering:

There's a few ways to get sexual services in Bucharest:

1) Nightclubs/StripClubs - AVOID THESE at all cost. Unless you're extremely rich and really, really enjoy seeind girls strip. They rarely dance on stage, hassle you to get them champagne which usually starts at 150 RON and go with them in the private room where prices start at 50 EUR for simply dancing a few songs! There's no entrance fee and drinks start at 15 Ron. When the girl told me it's 50 euro for a few dances with touch (another one said it; s without touch) + the bottle of champagne I almost started laughing and I told her in Montreal it's 10 times cheaper to get a dance she got all snoby and said usually it's only old italian guys then come there so she doesn; t understand what we're doing there. Girls in these clubs are very hot, usually 7's-10's but prices are WAY to high for nothing.

2) SW

There's a few places where you find SW.

-you have the ones downtown on Magheru Blvd and the side streets, between the Intercontinental and the KFC/McDonalds. These ones cater more to the foreigners that stay in the expensive hotels from the area so they also inflate prices depending on your car or/and langauge that you speak (romanian or not). Some of these girls are nice clean romanians and they are usually the most expensive. There's also some nice looking gypsy girls and of course the ugly disgusting looking dirty gypsy girls. BEWARE of these especially since they'll try to charge you as much as a nice clean girl. Avoid them at all cost.

Prices (no matter what they ask for): for a quickie BJ (somewhere outisde or in the car) never pay more than 50 RON (14 euro). For a quickie BJ and FS never pay more than 70 Ron. Per hour, at your hotel or their place, never pay more than 150 RON to a 8-10 or 100 RON to a 5-7. I don; t advise you to get 1 hour with any of these girls since you'll usually just get 1sog unless you clearly discuss with her MSOG SEVERAL times before you give her the money, or are the time of guy who can only finish after 30-40 minutes or more. 3) Massage Parlors

There's 2 types of MP's in Bucharest:

- The ones that ofer erotic massages and more (BJ, fs): These are rare. Also, not many of them will tell you they offer more than erotic massages so you kinda have to try them out and talk to the girl once you're alone in the room. Unless they tell you beforehand clearly that they offer BJ/fs also, a place that might offer it will give some signs: for exemple they will tell you that a release is possible but they will be vague on the phone about how you can achieve that release. - There's also "normal" MP's. They will not offer anything more than a thai massage. There is a lot of these, quality differs greatly though in terms of girls and of parlor decoration/hygiene etc. Prices start at 60 RON and go to 350 RON depending on service chosen and parlor. Some MP's will offer 4hands massage with both girls nude, some will offer with the girls topless, some will offer with 2 girls and a small lesby/erotic show, some will offer a stripease act with 1 or 2 girls. Lots of possibilities so depends on your fantasies and money. A simple 1 hour massage with 1 girl topless will run you between 60 and 100 RON depending on MP. I have been to Bucharest three time sin the past nine months for work and seem to find Bucharest very safe. Just be aware of the rip-off taxi drivers, pickpockets and rogue policeman trying to ask for your ID....

I've made a couple of online enquiries since and have noticed that some girls are now quoting 150E/hour rather than 100E. thanksThe best areas for a visitor to stay in Bucharest is Unirii, University, Romana, or Victoria Piata. They are all served by the same metro line. Romana has slightly more bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood than the others. Unirii has more “new” apartment buildings and parking is easier at some of the newer buildings that are not close to the metro station. The 4 piata are the very center of Bucharest. There are many scams on the streets of Bucharest but violent crimes are relatively few. I have never been stopped by the real police while I was walking in the street (only when I was driving) but I was stopped by the fake ones many times.

Regarding the other post of “Price bump in hourly rates?”

I don’t think price has jumped in Bucharest as a result of joining EU, at least for the ones that are not targeting foreigners. The most common price for sex as advertised online in the local paper website ( http://www.anuntul.ro/rubrica.php?id=54) remains the same -- 150 Ron (less than 50 euros); so is the advertised rate for erotic massages (45 euros). I think the price has more to do with competition. About 4 years ago, there were about 2 to 3 erotic massage parlors advertised in magazines and I paid 60 euros. Although I haven't been there at Easter I'd guess this is a bad to time to visit. It is a very significant festival in Orthodox countries - more so than Christmas - so most people will go back to their families.

My guess is that the bars will be dead - if they are even open.

All I can compare it will was when I was in Bucharest at the end of July last year. Everyone was at the coast or in the mountains. Bars were empty. There was still some street action - I was approached several times - but I had made arrangements with a girl in advance so got my action this way

I always find walking the streets to be safe (apart from the occassional stray dog). I've been approached by gypsie hookers and pimps and have never felt threatened or been robbed although as in any big city pick-pockets can happen.

Taxi's will sometimes try to bump the fare, but mostly it is what you might add to the bill as a tip. Key thing here is to look at the rates printed on the sides of the cars. These vary immensely depending on the company.

Never had any problems with real police or fake police. I think the tip here is never hand over anything. Say you will only answer questions back at a Police Station.
