I assume выеэда нет is for 2 reasons:
1) their security
2) business... going out means at least 3 hours away from work even for an hour of sex. 1 hour there, 1 hour sex, 1 hour back. Doesn't make economic sense.
And a 3rd reason might be laziness, why go out when the customer comes to you?
Also, we shouldn't forget that the average Russian doesn't want the girl coming to his apartment... he might have a wife, girlfriend or curious neighbors. He'd prefer to screw her at a neutral location.
...To save a few measley $ and risk being robbed, beaten up or worse.
Unless 100% sure better to stick to in call at Hotel!
But Russians are wise. They know typical foreigner will come to Moscow,
stay few days, spending his money in hotel, night club, p4p, anything else.
So he's supporting local economy and Russians want him to come again and do the same, tell his friends about his experiance so they can come also.
You must know different (and more business-minded) Russians than I do. Take, for instance, the door crew at HotDog. Everytime I patronize that shit bucket, I feel like I'm getting judged by no less than St. Pete himself. This is despite the fact that I recognize each one of the goons at the door, and I'm pretty certain that they recognize me. And the barmen aren't much better - though they have warmed up to me after a few gracious tips. They may be lazy, but they're not stupid.
Russian service is not about repeat business. It's about extracting the most out of your customer while expending an absolute minimum amount of energy. The Crisis (R) may change this, but I'm not holding my breath.

Everywhere you go, there will always be people who try to make a living by taking advantage of tourists. It's easy to do with someone who is in a strange place, doesn't speak the lingo, doesn't understand the system and doesn't know anyone. It happens in Russia and it happens in the U.S.
Someone who wants to do this will always go to a place where they can find tourists (or expats), it's only logical. The best way to protect yourself from this type of person is to stay away from other tourists and the "expat friendly" clubs.
I've been all over Moscow, in night clubs, private apartments, salons and massage parlors. I have never once encountered a person or situation that was even remotely belligerent. As an American, in most places, I am a novelty, even a celebrity, because most Russians have never met an American. So, I usually find myself welcome.
Of course, it's difficult to go too far afield if you do not speak the language, so most people will have to strike a balance between comfort and convenience and safety. So, exercise some common sense, remember that familiarity tends to breed contempt, and the more comfortable you feel, the greater the likelihood that someone will try to take advantage of you.

When you are a foreigner in foreign country, where you don't know the language and local customs everything can happen.
But anyway Moscow is not the place for me. Many of you here mention places like HotDog, but I've never been to places and clubs like that.
I've been to Russia over 30 times. And this is in Russia as independent state.
I've also been to former SSSR, back in soviet times, but I was very young then. Almost all of my time in Russia I spent in provinces, far away from Moscow. For me Moscow is just a place from which I departure to some other place by train or plane. So I can talk more about situation in other russian cities where I usually go than about Moscow. In provinces is sword with two edges. Sometime foreigner can have a better time than in Moscow since most of this provincial places don't see much of the foreigners. Sometime much worse where a foreigner will curse the day he decided to visit particual provincial town. Russian provinces can be a nightmare for somebody who don't know the language and don't have some logistic support there.
Much better is to stick to Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Any ryussian citizen who comes to Moscow and want to stay permanently or for longer period of time must register his new place od living in OVIR. There is "temporary" registration used by students. So if someone from Siberia plans to move to Moscow moust obtain a street adress and register on that address. The same is with any other place. When ever someone in Russia change his place of living he has obligation to register at new place of living. This registration is called "? ". Many people sometime avoid to have this registration but it means they are breaking the low and if discovered it has consequences. Also if a women with a child want to deal with the state like asking for child support she can get in only in city where she is registered.
No Moscow registration means no help in Moscow. Many girls in Russia are opting for marriage "dlya vida" in order to easy the process of staying in some city.
Don't confuse this registration with registation of foreigners coming to Moscow for a short period of time. This are two different things.

Last I checked, Russian citizens can put off registering in a new city for 90 days, and as long as they have a train/plane ticket to show them entering within that period, it's fine.

Yeah the rules ar as exposed, but having, for Russian, the registration for staying permenently in Moscow is not easy (If you are not hired by a local company). If a person (Russians) stays some day and are checked at the hotel it's almost like a foreigner.
For the hotel... just depend what you want and what's your budget... you have hundreds of hotels in Moscow...

Thanks Stravinsky, I've read a lot over the years and have found that things change rapidly in FSU countries, so I suppose that I am more interested in hearing about the caveats of Moscow than about my task, which I am sure I will fulfill. All the info here is current, the main difference will be prices; you will enjoy a 30% discount vs. prices last summer, just based on the ruble devaluation. In addition to whatever "anti-crisis" discounts you may find.

Well, I’m back. It was a discounted rate just based on the Ruble devaluation. My apartment was in a short walking distance (like 50 feet) from NF, where, yes, they still accept dollars. Yet, I discovered that, really, if you look closely, in the light, most of them were 7-8 at best. I think I saw one 10 and several 7’s.
Night 1: I was beat from the trip so I slept a while, and then went shopping for some essential: water, fruit, and some coffee, sachar (I didn’t know the word for "sugar" and had to give it up, unless I was willing to open every bag and taste the contents). I have some experience with Slavic languages but not Rus. I was able to sound out the Cyrillic letters and made some headway, but, generally, I pointed at what I wanted. I went to NF for dinner (not bad) and it got me a free entrance later. I was so ready to squirt that I grabbed the first one that caught my eye. She asked for 5XX Euro. I laughed (because I read that here) and I told her, no way. We finally agreed on 3 US and off we went. Now, understand, for those who don’t, this is for Classic With; don’t even ask for more because they must have some clique and agree what the price will be and what services are available. (because they all had the same line, word for word, for e. G. : "How much time? Aw, darling, time is not important. " Anyway, wham bam and off she went to turn another. I went to sleep and slept until 3 pm MSK time.
Night 2: Got up and went to work on my internet ideas, but sadly, without speaking the lingo, it was nearly impossible: "Hi, do you speak any English? " CLICK. I did find some, but the problem was my OWO requirements. Hard to find, and A, it was even harder to find, so back to NF to see what I could arrange. I took my time this time, and found tall blond smoking bod, yikes! 6 US for the night. She was good, really good. Only negative for me was the silicon, don’t like that but hey WTF, as they say in Italy "carne e carne. " Off she went and I went back to sleep.
Night 3: I had to get registered and man it was a pain in the neck. I took a taxi to find Hotel Asia (I read it somewhere here) to pay less for the stamp, but after an hour, the driver said that he couldn’t find it. I told him to take me to the hotel that was on my invitation. The girl there said that only guests get it, but if I wanted, I could check in and get a registration stamp. Ha, ha, not unless you come with the room honey" and I left. Wasted 40 bucks. I finally got it at further expense; never, ever use taxi from the street. Call for one and get the price first. Metered cabs are overpriced, rip off. Maybe I misunderstood the report. In another report (owe you a few drinks) it mentioned the Moscow Times, which actually is an insert of the Herald Tribune. I lucked out just because I wanted a newspaper in English and that was the only one I could find. When I opened it and found the Moscow Times it was like a message from above. I put it to good use. 6K RR for 2hrs and she was just fine. Donated a small amount more for OWO, but hey, I’m there to have my way, no? She was quite enthusiastic, active and willing to please, kind of meaty but spoke some English and had a fun personality: Looks: 7 – personality: 9, ser: 8. Off she went and I went back to NF, but this time I went at 3:30 am hoping to birddog something. And it worked. 2 US, ah, thank ye ma’am. 8. 5, 7, 7. Not much enthusiasm here. Off she went. I went to sleep.
Night 4: One of my internet ideas worked out. Wow! Okay, she was a brunette, 7 + in looks but her pillows were huge, at least 40 EE. 5K RR/ 2hrs! Yep. I enjoyed it a lot. I think she enjoyed it as much as I did. If not, she was a good faker. Off she went, said she wanted to come back later, but, like the reports all said, don’t hold your breath. 7. 5, 8, 9. When she didn’t return (for a bonus) after an hour, I called another service. They sent me a skinny blond with a poor attitude. Now, I had gone to the market, and along the way I had found a second hand store and I bought a cute outfit (not for me). I had her dress up and we played and I made sure she gave me good service, by insisting. TS baby, 2 US and when I was done I showed her the door. No shower, just adios. 8, 6, 7. Went to this great Italian restaurant (the menu in Rus and It.) and had a delicious meal. Found a taxi and told him I wanted to go to a tochka. He said 1K RR. After a long ride we ended up nowhere with no one, except an offer with oW in the taxi. Then he wanted to take me to his friends recommended bordel, but I declined, went back to the apt, cleaned up a bit and went to NF. Birddog, birddog, yep, 3 US for the tall blond who got twice that last time. She was just as good, but I was tired and she left after a pop. "Hanny, gib me more" and she didn’t mean loving. Sorry, all popped out today. Maybe next time – went to sleep.
Night 5: Okay, fine, I’m conserving capital and my plan is working well. Got up early (noon) and tried to call for an afternoon meeting. Called service, said it would be around 3pm, then called again and said 5 pm, so probably it is not possible to get an afternoon unless you go to them, something I refused to take a chance on – to risky for a non-speaking novice. Around 5:30 the date arrived. She was very cute, slim, brunette, nice rack. OWO, A and dressed her up. She was forking awesome! We went around twice, wiped out my vodka and MAN, she was the best so far. Weeeeeee. CIM, CIF and anywhere else I could aim, rubbed it in and licked it off with her tongue, getting stiff just thinking about it. 4 hours/ 6 US. 9, 9, 9, talk about value. Off she went. I went back to that great restaurant and ate my fill, went back and took a nap. 3 am, guess where I went. Yep, 300/US tall blond, yummy, took me a while to fill the contract, but she worked hard for the money. 9, 7, 8. 5. Off she went. I went to sleep.
Night 6: Funds are getting low, but not desire. Went for a walk to the Kremlin, had lunch in a Café; it was poor. Called the service, dirty blond, not bad in all respects but no gem. Got my OWO CIF 200/1hr. 7, 7, 8, off she went. Got another! Brunette, nice looking, slim but big rack. NO OWO, but it was still good, 8, 7, 7. By now I am spent. It’s my last night and I just can’t do anymore. THEN, then I thought of what I read in Rio section once: "I met her on the beach and she wanted X and I told her that I just finished and really didn’t want it. " Gems of wisdom, yes, I was tired and had to get up in 5 hours to go, I thought about it for a while and went to bed and said NO! NO, this is my last night! I put on my suit and tie and went to NF to birddog. The tall blond was busy, and I told her no problem. She wanted, she didn’t, she might – I went to the bar and drank. Now, a few nights before, one very cute blond said that she wanted to "eat me" just as I walked in. I asked her if I could have a drink first and ended up with another. Some tall toad came to talk to me, but luckily her mobile rang and I made a quick excuse me and move to another area. The cute blond found me. She threw herself at me like she was desperate. I blew her off a bit, told her that "I just finished and I doubted I could go another round. " Yet, she persisted. She was insulted that I took the other blond over her the other night. "You like her? She’s note guud, I give you fantasy. Hanny, I lavve you. How much you give to her? Huh? " We agreed on the same. 3 (I meant US, she thought Eu – she took it anyway). She was a tiger, licked my butt and did all she could do, BUT, LOL, I couldn’t fulfill the contract and told her I was tired. She asked me if I was married, if I wanted to marry her (because she lavvd me). I got the feeling that when she was looking at bulge in my pant that it was actually my wallet she was staring at. I told her to write down her number. Off she went. So, it was a good line, but it ended up being true – I was spent and couldn’t squirt. Cest la vie.
Overall opinion: Since I couldn’t speak the language I had some difficulties. I would have helped since few speak English (except, of course, in the tourist professions). Even though it was discounted due to devaluation I thought it was overpriced. I doubt I will go back. I have been to other FSU places and found others were more user-friendly. The costs were less for the same goods. But, it was an experience. Yes, I had several who wanted to marry me cause I’m so "hot" and a "nice man, " but, I know better. However, for those who don’t get it I say this: DO NOT MARRY ONE, NOT! I don’t care what they promise, because promises are like opinions (think about the old saying). None would allow a photo, even for consideration.
I’ve read many reports, since 1998 or so, and I give this contribution as repayment. My Hor Ratio (hence the name) is a value measure based on: looks, personality and service, if anyone cares. For example: 8, 8, 8 would be (8x8x8 = 512, so if you gave 3 US then the ratio would be 512/300 = 1. 7.) If it was 8x8x8 and gave 1 US it would be 5. 12, a really good value, no? Of course 10x5x5 (she was a diamond but poor personality and service) and gave 5 US, ratio is 1. If she was 5x10x10 and gave 1 US then the ratio is 5. Which is the better value? Like the ratio, it is somewhat subjective. I hope that this section will find the ratio useful, and if so, please pass it on to our brethren. If you don’t get it I will be glad to explain.

Horatio - thanks for the nice report. You're an example to all newbies, as to what you can learn from this forum. But unfortunately you're right - if you don't speak the Russky, your options are limited in this town. It's NF, HD, stripclubs, or callgirl with an English-speaking dispatcher. None of which is a cheap option. And too bad your tochka venture was a bust. You needed a decent driver. I'm guessing for 1000R, he wasn't incentivized to keeping looking until you hit paydirt.
Question - if you're a decent looking guy, why not hit some of the many expat-friendly clubs recommended here and try your luck? At least before heading to NF. In places like Karma, Real Mccoy, Che, Garazh and so on, most of the girls speak enough English to hold a conversation.

Metered cabs are always expensive, best to just flag down a private car. But, if you don't speak a little Russian, it will be hard to negotiate.
The Moscow Times has a section in their classified ads of agencies and working girls who offer services in English. As you say, manna from above if you don't speak the lingo. But, you will be limited to what the agency sends you, and there is so much more to be had in Moscow.
It is unfortunate that in one of the world's largest cities, where prostitution is well tolerated, that the only options for P4P available to a foreign traveler are Night Flight and Hot Dog's.
We need to do something about that.

I had the same experience, albeit many many years ago (shortly after I moved here in fact). I've since been in dozens of hotels in Moscow, and never had anything like that happen to me again.

The problem with arranging in advance over the Internet is that pictures don't really convey that sense of "chemistry" that can be an important element in your overall experience. And by the way, getting an English speaker in Moscow is going to cost you a premium, so why not choose from a selection?

It means I speak, read and write in Russian.
When in Russian I speak only Russian since it's obvious I don't have a need for any other language.

Yeah, I've been a few times over the past year, but haven't written much on it - true. To be honest, tochki are not really my thing, as I prefer to chat with a girl in advance and select by personality as well. Moscow State University offers classes which are pretty good and reasonably priced - www.cie.ru - although personally I'd do it elsewhere - Irkutsk is a big college town but I don't know if there are any language courses on offer there. Many foreign students go to St. Petersburg, which is an amazing city, but you don't get the same God factor that you do as the big European/American man on campus in smaller cities. The place is Kharkov where many foreginers come to study full time or for short term russian courses. But great majority of them are from third world countries mostly coming of their government scholarships. People from west are rare sight so it will contribute to the white God factor.

Visited 911 last night. Not far from the Mariott Aurora Hotel. 800 Rubles at the door, Vodka goes for 360 Rubles a shot at the Bar.

i was the first person, one month ago, to report positively about aurora and, from since, all readers are going to that.
yes, that place is fantastic but it should be just a "start line" to monger girls in moscow.
unfortunately, the price/quality ratio in moscow in so low and aurora is the best that you could get in moscow. i remind 24000 rubles are more than 700 dollars and, until some days ago, you could get the pornstar wiska for all night in kiev (of course, much more than a silly cbj. .).

I think the experience was worth it, though. That's basically what you're paying for, as much as the sex. As you know, clubs like Aurora don't exist in the States, at least not public clubs, it would be just plain illegal. I could pick out about 3,576 violations last night viz a viz a U.S. club. Vice laws, building codes, tax codes, health codes, etc. So, I need to take advantage of it while I'm here.

Pez-Dispenser was the master of hosts in responding to my meet-up call, showing me the ropes at Hot Dog and Night Flight 3 weeks ago.
Though both places were slow, there were more than enough hookers wiggling around me introducing themselves and offering their wares, like I was some kind of walking ATM. Though I still had $700 in my wallet, I just couldn't see the point, but if it had been the other way around, and I was in town ON MY WAY east instead of west, who knows....

The other problem was plain lack of time. Otherwise, I would have dragged you to Che to see how crazy that place gets on a Saturday night, and then maybe hit a cheapo salon for 2500/chasik or headed up Yaroslavka to see what the tochki have to offer these days.
But given the time constraints, I did what I could. That said, we should have hit HD and NF in reverse order. HD peaks between 2 and 3am on the weekends, whereas NF was obviously well past its peak at 1am (IIRC, we were the only customers there at one point that evening!)

For taking taxi, I recommmend not to take taxi which are standing front of the door. Walk a little bit (200m) away from the door of Hot Dog's and you can easily get a "Кавказ, Kavkaz" taxi for far less cheaper.
With some russian knowledge, one can pay 200RUB to KORSON hotel with is located nearby Kossyguine Street.

Nextly, I apparently ran the fuck OUT of stamina, and for the first time in 20 trips, frequently couldn't finish what I started, as I've confided to a few already, the Bez is retiring from mongering for health reasons.
Oh, and so much more importantly, it does NOT require much luck at all to travel and monger in CANDYLAND. You simply need time and money, that's it. Some russian skill certainly makes it much easier, as we all know, though mine remains understandable but awful.
Next, PRICES ARE THE SAME, its the dollar that buys more rubles, but only up from 2500 to 3200, so about 20%, enough to feel the difference, but no more than that. Prices in my Italian owned up-scale grocery store, as I've already posted, or even in the big supermarket, ARE THE SAME. The market's still not cheap, and the up-scale is still expensive. I went as often as possible to the bazaar, for fresh veggies & fruits, little fresh baked onion pockets, and ham and cheese and yogurt, the daily boring staples.
In other words, forget about 2002 or anything else, because remember you can never go back.
I didn't see anything anywhere selling for 70% off. I cracked out my Mastercard and bought some Adidas running shoes on sale for $63, and some great salami slices at the deli for 300r/150g. If that gets you hot, then I don't know what to tell ya. A head of lettuce still costs 100 r at the bazaar, no bargain there.
LIFE AIN'T CHEAP, neither is mongering, rent, groceries, etc. Provinces still beat Moskva, but its no bargain, unless you consider quality/quantity of the dyevochkas, and ESPECIALLY ATTITUDE and GFE. To me that's the ONLY SIGNIFICANT difference worth mentioning, and I'll rub more than your grubby little noses in that shite all day! :D

This is not the first comment about there being more butt ugly WG at HD, nor is it likely to be the last. So it begs the question, "Where have they gone?" It doesn't sound like NF is getting any better either. It certainly was no great shakes in February when I was there. Consider the some possibilities;
1. Maybe something is happening in Moscow socioeconomics to persuade hot young dyevs to hang up their "come fuck me heels" and give up the wg life as a source of income (FT or PT) to pursue an honest life on the moral "straight and narrow" Naw - I don't buy that.
2. There are still hot young Moscow WG but we just don't see them because they no longer consider the foreign guys to be desirable as customers. When times were good I would have bought this argument because the really really hot elitny ones were commanding big bucks from local oligrachs and were becoming unavailable to us mere mortals. One would hope that now that the economy has cooled and there is less $$$$$$$$ to throw around that these girls are willing to go down market. If this were true, you would expect that NF and HD would be jammed with talent and yet the opposite is true.
3. Or maybe now that times have gotten harder, the really hot ones are concentrating their efforts on more long term relationships and / or sponsorship deals as a means to secure a more stable income from the trade?
4. Or maybe we have gotten stale and we are all just out of touch and don't know where the really hot WG are at in Moscow. Either that or some of our mongering brothers are just holding out on the rest of us. ;)

The roads are still jammed with commuters going to and from work. The streets and the stores are still jammed with people spending money. It seems to me nothing has changed from last summer. Prices have not gone down, only some of the more ridiculous excesses have been eliminated: the $3 tomato at Azbuka Vkusa is now the $2 tomato. It seems prices for sex have pretty much stayed the same and in some cases even increased. In 2007 the massage parlor at Avtozavodskaya was charging 1800 руб. for a 90 minute massage with 2 girls, now a 90 minute massage with 1 girl is 2900 руб.
The only advantage we have is the exchange rate with the Dollar, and even that is evaporating. In just the last week, it went from 32 to 31.

Students for have a state help for studing in Moscow and were hoping to work at government institutions in Moscow, well most likely they will not see it but they can go back to their native cities and get a job at local administration there.
Government is offering relocation program which means if there's no job for you in Moscow government will find it for you outside of Moscow. At the state companies where money is pumped by the government.
Guy I know was a manager at private IT company which went down and now he's putting bolts in buses somewhere around Moscow at the state company. Many people are accepting this (old, young, females too). Just like in good old soviet times. Russian government even reconstructed more than 70 so called "workers hotels" for workers who come from different city and live in this hotels paying very small amounts.
Strav there's a crisis in Moscow do not worry. Only this is typical Russian thing not to accept it. Most people in Moscow think of crisis as "something from capitalist west, it will not hit us". Most of them forgot 1998 it seems. So people are still spending their money without problems, with typical Russian we will spend money untill we have it and when we spend it we will see what to do. No body is thinking to save money. Last year there were more than 350 building sites in Moscow, today there are less than 50 of them active. Many foreign companies are reducing their activities some even closing. Foreign banks pulled out much of their money from Moscow, and today they arew very careful and picky who will get a credit if they get it at all. Oligarch Prohorov lost 6 billion Euros in 3 days, number of millionares in Russia in March 2009 decreased by 38% compared to March 2008. Easy come easy go.
Foreigners coming to Moscow are far less then in last 2 years so there's no fresh money also. If we look at the posts from like 5-6 months ago many were hoping prices will drop in Moscow (p4p including). It seems there's nothing out of it. Most probably it will be the thinking: there are less customers so we will work less but to keep the same money in our pockets we will increase the prices. As Strav reports with massage parlor.
Most probably this summer in Moscow will not be cheap but in StP it will be even higher becuase of those Scandinavian tourists there.

Joking aside, in my 3 days in Moscow, 3 times at Hot dog and I did not pick, or not so that beautiful or too high price, so I went to tochka and I was not disappointed.
Even in 2004, when Hot dog was Chesterfield, and much better, I took tochka 6 times in 10 days, it is all night long and most of times much more friendly than hardcore pro and if you pay a price close to what you end to pay at Hot Dog, you get real a young, fresh, no drug addict girl and what was funny in october 08 that I was the only foreigner between russian men hunting tochka and yes, the fun to search the right one, is something you will never get in Hot Dog, something that it will worth to do it and something I still miss LOL

That's probably good advice. I have only done Tochka once but you are right, it was lots of fun. And yes, she was about 20 y.o. and fresh off the train from Krasnoyarsk. But please don't get so emotional. In Russia every tochka/pro/freebie have some sad story about her life and she's doing what she's doing because of her hard life. I just don't buy that crap. Those tochkas are doing that mostly for the money of course. They come to Moscow for any reason see the big city with bright lights and want everything what it offers. But it costs money.
For fresh tochkas the best time is September. Many of them come to Moscow in September to start their university and you can be shure some (bigger or smaller) part of them will become tochkas. Many of them are already tochkas in their home town. Once I was riding the train from Ekaterinburg to Moscow and in my car there were 5 girls going to Moscow to start their university, they were all 19 years old. And they were openly talking how they will start their tochka careers as soon as they arrive in Moscow. They alredy contacted another girl from Ekaterinburg who was in Moscow for one year and was a tochka of course and she will show them how to get money "in the suburbs". And they were talking how they will spend their money on Gucci this, Prada that, this shopping center, this night club, etc. I was sure they already have tochka experiance from Ekaterinburg, on the road to Tyumen. Who knows maybe they started when they were 14.
For a typical Russian tochka is w***e and nothing else and she will be treated like one. Russian police is pushing tochkas further and further away and even now there are reports of how gang of tochkas robbed some russian guy but he's afraid to report to police becuase his wife will hear about it.

These last posts represent my same questions when I came for the first time in Moscow about one month ago: where is crisis in Moscow? where are the high percentage of beautiful girls in Moscow?
I visited dozens of salons and I found just one 10+++ girl but an outrageous fraud. I discovered just one nice place called Aurora club. I hadn't time to try tochkas and discos. I didn't see a good scene about salons, at all. I fucked my waitress and started a relation with a barwoman.

Prostitution is an interesting study in itself. In a stable society, it occupies a predictable place in the social strata and carries certain social stigmas that tend to relegate it to the dark alleys and the seedy bars. Oh, yes, don't let me forget about the personal ads and the massage parlors. Even in authoritarian regimes, (as any USSR comrade would have told you) it has a place but people just don't talk openly about it.
But in transitional society, it comes out into the open. Not just for foreigners but for anyone with money. People looking to make money from people who have it. Read enough history and you will see that right after any major war, pestilence, or natural disaster the bartering for the most basic human needs begins.
I think we are seeing the very end of a phase in Moscow (The provinces of course are another matter). Crisis or no crisis, Moscow society has developed to the point where people have options and don't really need to change their lifestyles that drastically. On my first trip to Moscow in 2005, my host told me that a recent TV poll of 15 year old school kids showed that most girls wanted to be high class prostitutes and boys wanted to be gangsters. I think the same poll today would yield a dramatically different result.
So if you want to get the really hot chicks and you have some "game" (not to mention time and money) there's plenty of action to be had. Otherwise, look to the Internet my friend, look to the Internet.

I perfectly agree, I was amazed by the number of girls open for sponsorship. And I am limited to the English speaking girls! Surprisingly many girls have computer at home. I will for the future use the internet option as the main source. But you will loose some on the way, when you get there some will not answer the phone etc.

You seem to be a new in Moscow coming for the first time in 2005. When talking to people in Moscow they all agree the wildest time in Moscow were in the early '90-ies under Yeltsin and today things are more or less normal. Moscow is no different from any other mageapolis in the world. Everything is the same there are some differences due to local people, mentality, etc. Prostitution didn't came to Moscow with fall of the SSSR it was present there much much before. With the fall of SSSR it only came into open sight, from Moscow subburbs it came down town. I was livinig in Moscow in the early '80-ies and sex for money was very available. From local soviet women to woman from "distant but frendly countries" as they were called. Meaning girls from Africa, Vietnam, North Korea you name it. It was enough to make a trip to International friendship university "Patris Lumumba" and make your pick. This was then and it's the same today. Only in soviet times no body were talking aboutb prostitutes, junkies and drunkards. They were called "people with socially unacceptable behaviour". In 1932 comrade Stalin simply said: "We can not count on 30% of soviet citizens not because they don't like our SSSR and our soviet system. But because they are criminals, easy women, drunkards, etc. They are on the bottom and they should stay there and we must not do anything to help them coming from the bottom". Many people took this for granted. In Russia today people don't care about prostitues, junkies, criminals, drunkards they just let them end their life cycle. Opposit to the west where there are those counceling for the prostitutes (too bring them back to the right track), for the junkies and drunkards (too keep them clean), for criminals in prisons (to make them reform), etc. In Russia it's simple. If a child leave a home a became a prostitute or a junkie the parents in most cases simply forgot about it. In Russian prisons 90% of inmates are never visited by their families and not even receiving letters. It's just like that. In Moscow it's just a endless circle. If we talk about girls who offer sexula service for exchange of any kind (no matter they are pros/freebies/looking for sponsor) there will be those who will do it for some time, then they will stop it because they want a marriage/family/whatever and on their place will come some other. Prostitution is simple thing in Moscow as well as any other place. As long as there are those who want to pay for sex there will be those who will sell sex. As long as there are those who sell sex there will be those who will pay for sex. After all it's a historical category existing almost the same time as human kind exist and it will not go away. The poll Jake mantioned well most probably there will be young girl who will think the same because they think high class prostitutes do nothing and have big money. In Russian provinces situation is different. I've been to about 80 Russian towns and when compared to Moscow sompe places are the same, some are worse and some are better. In provinces there are two types of people. Those who are enchanted by Moscow and can't wait to move there for any reson they can think of and those who despise Moscow and never went there and they will not let their children go there. In anyway Moscow is (and will be probably) good destination under condition you have enough money and time. But this is the same with most other destinations exept your home town.

The movie will show you how tochaks think and operate even gives tips where and how to find tochaks and how to negotiate your price. Just an important addition.
I went very in-deep in hardcore prostitutes' mindset. You are correct, before my first visit in 2005 I was completely ignorant of Moscow and the rest of Russia for that matter. I nearly got transferred to Moscow in 1992 but instead ended up in Rio de Janeiro. Hmmm - I can't say really which would have been better.
In any case, I really do appreciate your insight on prostitution in general during Soviet times. No one seem to want to talk about it but based on your comments, it does sound like it was pretty much like any other megalopolis. In particular, your point about migration from the suburbs to downtown explains some of the comments I have heard from people in Moscow. It now makes more sense to me.
That's why I like these forums, there's always someone who knows more about a particular topic than I do.

I was first time in Moscow in 1987, staying in the famous Intourist hotel. There was in the bar there with working girls, some I also saw at breakfast, I think they stayed in the hotel as a part of the staff:)))? Most of them were not interesting, but I had one that was really good.

Speaking about Moscow olympics in August 1980 president Brezhnev himself ordered the massive clean up ofo Moscow. It meant that soviet army rellocated about 600 000 (yes it's 600 000) people who were "socialy suspicious" (meaning drunkards, criminals, prostitues) from Moscow during time of Olympics so they will not show a different side of SSSR. They were sent to Belarus to clean the swamps around Minsk (latter new parts of the city were build there) and also to Siberia to cut timber.
Not manythen were different form now. In the old soviet times Yaroslav and Smolensk road were there also and tochkas were there also. Main cutomers were truckers (as they are today), police left tochkas alone if they give them for free (the same today), in soviet times tochaks gave blowjobs for 10 roubles, today it's 10$ (only the currency changed). Very famous were tochaks operating around small town on Smolensk road called Gagarinovo. Yes Yuri Gagarin was born there. This was a public secret in Moscow, everybody knew about that. In soviet times hotels in Moscow were divided into those for soviet citizens only and those for foreigners only. In this hotels for foreigners soviet citizens were stricktly forbidden unless they work there. Some of this hotels were "Belgrad", "Warsawa", after the Olympics "Cosmos", "Izmilovo Vega".
Working girls were in the open there and it was no problem to take them into your room. Rules were simple. The girls gathered in hotel restaurant, not before 6PM and they had to leave before midnight. Maximum of 10 girls were available and the quality was at least to say average. They were connected with hotel managment obviously. After choosing the girl you should go to the reception where the guy worked. In soviet hotels men were always working at the afternoon and night. The girl could stay only for one hour and you could take maximum of two girls per night. Even then many foreigners didn't took this service. Out of fear the girls were from KGB, which could be true. Spreading the legs in the service of Motherland. But most common thig was this girls would steal anything from you they ofund valuable or interesting. Money, watch, photo camera, clothers, you name it. They even had a special tactics. They would steal two things from you one usually being some small crap and hide this small thing in the bathrom. Then they would take a bread load cut in half and put newspaper inside and hide it in the bathroom also. Most foreigners went to the recption to complain that girl stole something from them and then there was investigation. They would find small thing hidden in the bathrom and directly confront you in the style "you hidd this by yourself in order to give bad name to our hotel so you probably hidd your money/watch/whatever also or simply lost it". And then they would bread with newspaper and they would make comments in the style look at this this foreigner is crazy we will call the police to clear this up. Of course many foreigners didn't want to mess with soviet police so they would keep their mouth shout.
As you can see Jake in in the early '90-ies many tochaks from Moscow suburbs came to downtown plus many arrived from other parts of former SSSR. But today things are in revers the police chased them away back into suburbs. So things are in constant change in Moscow and Russia in general.
I remember some years back when I was in Blagoveschensk on the Chinese border and I had two Chinese girls (good looking) for whole night doing them what I wanted for 50$ both. They were gabling addicts, they needed money for casino and made me offer I couldn't refuse. Most of this towns are run down industrial places. There's no need to stay there since Moscow is just jump away and prices mostly keep at the moscow level. People living in this places are mostly with "we hate Moscow" attitude.
Most of population was brought from other parts of Soviet union when industralization started but they were prohibited to go to Moscow. But visit any of this cites at Friday and Saturday evening, go to some bar, night club or simply walk down the streets. You will be surprised to see there almost no young women there even the low quality ones. Because great majority of them are in Moscow working as weekend ho's. They hate Moscow enough to to go there on permanent basis but like Moscow enough to make their money there. Then lets go to the city like Ivanovo and Rjazan. This places are big Russian military bases and there's plenty of military officers there. Great majority of them are bringing their children in the old soviet military patriarchal style. Which resulted many girls are very hard to approach, they can simply tell you "get lost creep" or even sream for help an then few guys will approach you with desire to beat you up. When I go to Russian provinces I usually stay from 2-3 weeks and some time even 3-4 months.

I will not hide my destinations but will reveal it to everyone interested and willing to go there. This list is no in particular order, only based in my experiance and with some explanations. Especially if you're are in Donbass just jump over the border and you're there and latter back to Ukraine without much hassle. Famous Don cossack have daughters that will make your blood boil. Especially if you dare to ride horses or shoot AK-47 with them. It will be a big plus for you in their eyes. You say you want to go to "rural Russia" but still mention Kazahstan and Belarus. If you go on college business well there must be some specific place where you do it.

Yes that "Detectives" is aobut crime but I think it's originally from Vladivostok.
There's a debate is it for real and many agree it is staged with actors and not real events. Put there's a real police actions against prostitution on the outskirts of Moscow. Very opposite is similar program in Minsk about crime called "Zona X". There police do their thing seriously like showing several guys very beaten up explaining they are "members of russian mafia arrested in hotel in Minsk trying to introduce prostitution", etc. In Russia it's simple. Prostitution is controlled by organised together with government and law enforcement structures - it's the same in any other country. Everybody get their piece of cake the girls getting the smallest. But in russian Duma there's ongoing debate what to do with prostitution in Russia.
Some (they are minority) wants to legalise it and get money from taxes like countries in EU. Other (they are majority) want the new laws where customer is be criminally responsible and not the girl. You're right hotels Metropol and National were best at those days. But they were mainly reserved for special guest. Like soviet party offcials were staying there during party meetings in Moscow, most sucessful svoiet sportmen, etc. From foreigners only the very important ones like presidents, prime ministers on official visitation to SSSR. I only don't know where they put all those soviet visitors? Tourist information about Moscow at that time always spoke about two million domestic tourist every day in Moscow coming from other parts of Soviet Union every day.
Movie "Interdevochka" is strange, it was a first soviet movie openly portraying prostitution. Thanks for your opinion about my posts. It's nothing much, I happened to be there at that time and I have lots of memories of all kinds being good, bad or strange. SSSR at that time was more or less different place than today of course. But in today's Russia it's hard to talk with people about. Young people don't remember it because they were very young. Do you live in Moscow? Or abroad? Would be happy to buy you a beer (or many beer) to hear more about these things. As I told Helena Moscow over a year ago, I think there's a "best seller" in there somewhere. As you say, it's information that most people who know anything about the topic want to forget. And everyone else doesn't really know. If the ones who know are not "talking" then the information will die. But perhaps that's what the current regime would prefer?

You're right hotels Metropol and National were best at those days. But they were mainly reserved for special guest.
Yup, I'd heard as much. Interesting how they segmented the visitors into staying in particular hotels, but where information was (and still is) a weapon, it makes sense. They certainly didn't want collaboration between Czechs and Poles, for example.
I only don't know where they put all those soviet visitors? Tourist information about Moscow at that time always spoke about two million domestic tourist every day in Moscow coming from other parts of Soviet Union every day.

Movie "Interdevochka" is strange, it was a first soviet movie openly portraying prostitution. Russian woman not satisfied with her soviet life turns to p4p for $$$$, meets a swedish guy a marries him. But she can not adopot to a life in foreign country where she's just a russian prostutie. So her new life leeds to new troubles. Probably the same things happens today.
I saw it strictly as a piece of propaganda from politicians who felt that they were losing their grip on the Russian populace. Key message: "Life abroad might seem great, but there's no Russian Soul [TM] there and without that, you'd be better off dead."

Well, that may be before now, but what airline today is selling RT to Moscow for $350 total? And is that for ONLY mid-week flights?
When I started mongering, I would fly from Florida to JFK, but even in 2000, it still cost almost $800 to fly RT to Kiev on Uzbekistan Air, if I wanted to return on a weekend, so I could get back to work on Monday.
You ever changed terminals in nasty hot JFK, collecting your suitcases on arrival, then loading them on the hotter terminal bus and riding around with a dozen or so international types for 30 minutes, then slogging through the even hotter 'foreign airlines' terminal with all your stuff?
7 hours, from the time you leave your own apartment, to drive through traffic to the airport, then wait 2 hours, then 3 hours on the plane, just so you can go through all that hassle at JFK, and THEN get on a 9 hour flight?
Then try flying direct to west Europe form Florida, where they check your bags through for you to your final destination. You get your long flight out of the way first, then the second flight is easy, just 3 hours. Its a big difference in conveniance, but I wouldn't call it "high flying."
As for "starting prices" at the Hotel Volga in Samara, I'm strictly an apartment rental type, so no thanks. I've stayed in a russian hotel, and it does nothing to impress the dyevochkas. Plus, its simply not feasible to ask my mamachka to bring three girls for me to choose one at any hour of the day or night up to my hotel room, but at my apartment, its no problem 24/7.
So if you wish to be Mr. Oridinary Joe Blow economical and get the cheapest hotel room available, sure its a great way to save your money, but for 2000 a day, I get a new flat right on main street. Worth every kopek. Especially for the time it saves me, to grab something to eat quickly at home, then get back to the important business of mongering, which is the whole point anyway. Restaurants are just not my thing, takes too much time and money, except for once in a while to break up the monotony.
And as far as the $80 train to Samara, if you think I would sit on a train for 20 hours, you are REALLY dreaming! My time is much well better spent mongering, than sitting around for 20 hours on a fucking russian piece of shit train.

Yes the girl have typical cossacl look. But her origin is definitelly from Volga (Sarama or Rostov), having Mordvin ethnic origin.
Dark hair and dark eyes, tall but not skinny. Many girls in Rostov-on -Don have this typical look but be sure there's plenty of natural blondes also. I often come to Russia but in Moscow I stay from few hours up to a day just untill I get on train to some provincial place.
In Russia people (especially Moscow) seem s to have selective memory wanting to remember only what they want to remember.
Sometimes it's strange when you talk with young person born in like 1985 and get the response how SSSR was very bad. But this person was too young to remember those times. Older people who lived in those times are much interesting to talk to since most of them have a realistic view on it. They will say that soviet system had it's good and it's bad sides, but it was the only thing they had at those times.
I don't think the current regime would prefer to forget the old times but they still promote good values of the old system. Some things will never die for example wgen just married couple goes to the monument of soviet soldiers. After all last year there was voting which is the most importan person in russian histroy. And Stalin got the third place. After all he turned russian empire from backward feudal country into nuclear powered Soviet Union.

Logical answer was "no" of course if you wanted to get your visa. And every hotel had it's KGB offices right behind reception.
Two million in Moscow is way to much I agree but there was a who bunch of people visiting Moscow be sure of that. Especially on weekends when many locals would go out of town like to their dacha, Moscow would go empty but at the same time thousands and thousands of people from other parts or Soviet Union would pour in. Many people were not put in hotels but got their staying according to who they have been. School childer would stay in "Dvorec pionera i skolnika" and it's facilities (translated as "Palace of pioneers and pupils" today they are called "Palace of childrens creativity"), students would stay in student dormitories or something, factory workers would stay in tohse big workers capm, etc. Memebers of soviet academy would stay in hotel "Akademichaskaya" and scientist and technical personel from military idustrial complex were allowed to stay only in hotel "Agat". Don't know if they still exist in Moscow. In Minsk they are still there. "Akademichaskaya" is owned by belarusian Academy of sciense and arts (of course) and "Agat" is owned by belarusian Ministry of Defence (of course).
I also think nurses today as prostitutes are very rare in Russia. 70% of all medical personel in Russia are females so I gues there must be few of them turning tricks. But generally material standard of medical stuff improved in the last years so probably many nurses don't need to turn to prostitution. In several russian cities I know good number of medical stuff (females of course) and I asked them if they know any of their coworkers into p4p or something. They know none even a smallest rumor was non existing. As one nurse explained to me - when a typicall russian nurse gets home from work she's so tired and don't want to have sex with her boyfriend/husband not to talk about her going looking for potentional customers. I guess most prostitutes in Russia today will fall into "student" category.
Talking about money in Russia and how much it wil take you.
It depends what you want of course. 2500$ will give you a exellent week stay but also a budget 3 months stay.
You can pay big bucks for a nice apartment on the main street but also you sleep under the bridge or in the park and pay nothing.
Russian trains are not the best but they can be the best place for mongering. Trains are full of them including conducters.
And when you ride 20 hours in the train with several girls from the same city where you're heading anything will be possible there if you play it in the right way.

They tell me that Intourist was loosely associated with KGB and was more than just a tourist agency. As you say, their purpose was to control the movement of foreigners in the CCCP, but also to report on where they went and why. My first trip to Russia I decided to use Intourist to arrange the trip and I remember the woman I worked with was unusually curious as to my reasons for visiting Yekaterinburg. I figured it was none of her business and I certainly was not going to give her the name of my pen pal girlfriend (this was before the internet), but it always struck me as strange that a tourist agent would be so concerned about why anyone would want to go anywhere.
Yes Strav this is true. Intourist was a tourist agency exclusively for aborad tourism. All foreigner tourist during soviet times were obligatory to come through them. There was also tourist agency "Sputnik" but it was only for domestic tourism. As you may notice there was "Inturist" hotels in almost every soviet city but also there were hotels "Sputnik". Intourist had real KGB agents posing as tourist guides but also many of normal guides were KGB informants. Actually KGB was recruiting many university students (Putin was one of them) to work for KGB offering good prospect for future life. This was case also with many tourism students since many of them had their job guaranteed with Intourist.
Strav you speak about your first trip to Russia and Intourist and I guess it was after the break up of SSSR. During soviet times Yekaterinburg (then called Sverdlovsk) was closed city because of the military industry producing tanks, nuclear missiles and biological weapons (famour antrax outbreak from 1979). That woman was doing her work as in old times which show she was good he he.

I remember in each airport that I traveled through, there was a separate Intourist terminal. Here, all of the foreign tourists waited in a special lounge area. We would be escorted to the empty plane first and choose our seats and then the Russian travellers would be allowed on board. Come to think of it, it wasn't a bad system! ;)
As foreign travelers, we were always separate from the narodni passengers. I still remember walking across the tarmac to board the plane departing Yekaterinburg and seeing all the narodni passengers pressing themselves up against the glass doors waiting to board. As we reached the plane, the doors were opened and there was, literally, a stampede to reach the plane. It was a little scary.
The plane was a great big Ilyushin, with 4 engines, and it was completely empty when I boarded. One of the stewardesses told me to pick any seat I wanted, so I did. Once the Russian passengers started boarding, a woman passenger approached me and said that I was in her seat. I didn't know what to do, so I said "извините, Я интурист" (excuse me, I am Intourist). Her mouth dropped a little bit, she backed away, apologized and was gone.
Like I said, it wasn't a bad system.
May I know your opinion on how much money is required to have a good sexual vacation and cover all these 3 sexual destinations in a one month stay, namely :

I will not hide my destinations but will reveal it to everyone interested and willing to go there. This list is no in particular order, only based in my experiance and with some explanations. Also I concentrated on larger places (like one million population)which has a good infrastructure for mongering like accomodation, places to eat and places to have fun like going out in the night.. Because of the girl mix there. Especially muslim ones like Tatar, Azeri and Tajik. This girls are very willing (everythnig is available, like freebies, pros, semipros) beucase of their mostly strickt upbringig. They will consider nice foreigners as forbidden fruit because they want to taste something different. Also foreigners will leave Kazan while local men have the tendency to talk around and ruin girls reputation. Many girls prefer anal in order to stay virgins. Most parents will check this before marriage. I like Tatar girls. I prever taller skinny Tatar girl with dark hair to Russian chubby blonde. Of course there's no lack of Russian girls there. In Kazan my favourite was a tatar girl Guzel who I meet in police station during registration. She was a police officer there. Has Rostov-on-Don ever been mentioned here on ISG? Rostov-on-Don is definitelly a great destination in Russia for those who are in Ukraine and want to make a little trip to Russia but don't want to bother with Moscow. Especially if you're are in Donbass just jump over the border and you're there and latter back to Ukraine without much hassle. Famous Don cossack have daughters that will make your blood boil. Especially if you dare to ride horses or shoot AK-47 with them. It will be a big plus for you in their eyes. Also there's a selection of various girls from Caucasus like Georgian, Chechen, Dagestani, Ingush, etc. They make scene interesting both for freebies and p4p. Also many girls can't say they had offer from western sponsor. While in Rostov-on-Don you can also make a trip to Krasnodar which is not far to check it out and put another mongering destination on your list.

Can be interesting destinations for those living in the USA on the west coast. Freebies as everywhere will depend on your own skills but available as any other place. Vladivostok is popular destination for backpackers who come there by transsiberian railway. I was in Moscow in 1990 just before the 'Eltsin revolution, and the political and social atmosphere was electric, like a storm brewing. My girlfriend and I were on an Intourist package tour in Moscow for five days on the way to a European holiday. One day we broke away from the boring guided tour for several hours so we could mix with the locals a bit. When we returned to the hotel that night, we were reprimanded by the tour guide and told we must stay with the group or there could be trouble. They knew exactly where we had gone that afternoon - apparently an "observer" tailed us all the time we split from the group, including on buses and the metro.
Next day we broke away from the group again, and wandered to the Arbat where my girlfriend was getting her charcoal portrait drawn by an artist, and I wandered around checking the touristy stuff. For some reason I agreed to change some US money for rubles with a young black-market guy who took me to a side-alley. The moment we exchanged the cash, he looked up scared, ran like hell, and I was suddenly grabbed on each shoulder by two guys in jeans and colorful flowery Hawaiian shirts. WTF! They showed me their ID badges: "Militsiya", and told me I was under arrest for dealing in the black market.
They told me in broken English to come to the police station with them. Fuckity-fuck! I told them I should let my GF know I was about to be sent to a Siberian gulag, so we wandered up to her, and I told her I had just been arrested for black-marketeering. She saw me with two chubby Hawaiian-shirted guys, and assumed I was playing one of my usual practical jokes, with a couple of passing tourists. After finally convincing her they were for real, she turned pale and said with fear "OHHH Piper!" [name changed to protect the guilty]. I told her not to worry (yet).
The cops brought us to a small hot damp police station in a basement of a building on the Arbat, took my photo, my fingerprints and my details, and made us sweat a bit. All I could say was "Ya nyeh criminale!" They told me to be quiet and offered us a warm pepsi. We sweated it out an hour or so while joking around with a few of the other undercover cops arriving with their freshly caught arrest victims. Then my cops finally said I could go, and told me to leave Moscow within 24 hours and never return. A bit heavy, I thought. (We were due to leave for France the next day anyway).
We returned to our Intourist hotel five minutes after being released, and the hotel receptionist smiled at me and said. "Ah you have police problyem, dah? Next time you stay with group, dah?! Haha!". News travels fast.
I'll be back in Moscow next month for the first time in 18 years. I wonder if they'll arrest me at the airport? :)

What the authorities objected to was a prostitute exchanging money with foreign tourists. That was the real crime. The Soviet ruble was worthless, and the only way to maintain the artificial exchange rate was to be in absolute control of the currency.

That would be like flying west from Melbourne Australia to Buenos Aires Argentina, to get to Cape Town South Africa. You'd fly almost 180 degrees west longitude and then 140 degrees east again, just to get 80 degrees west? It makes as much sense to fly west from New York to get to Germany?

This is NOT Rostov-on-Don but another Rostov, small town in Yaroslav area.
Some 50 km before Yarsolva when you go there by train.
Name is Rostov but offten called Rostov Veliki (Rostov the Great) to make difference from Rostov-on-Don.
In Russia there are three cites called Rostov:
The large city on Don river called Rostov-na-Donu of course.
Rostov in Yaroslav oblast often called Rostov Veliki (but it's not grat at all some 30 000 people). Offical name is Rostov Yaroslavski (at least this name is on railway station) but no body called it like that.
Thirs Rostov is in Siberia near Krasnoyarsk, usally called Rostov Krasnoyarski.
Also small town mostly populated by people who work at hydroelectric powerplant on Yenisey river near Krasnoyarsk.
Rostov the Great is not a place of interest for foreigners only if you're interested in religious tourism or belonging to orthodox christianity since there are lot of old churches and monasteries. Many of them are completelly rebuild with money given by those russian olighars who sinned a lot he he.

This is a bit off topic. I'm looking for a way to stay in Moscow for more than the 90 out of 180 days currently allowed. I hope / plan to stay for 2+ years but the rules seem impossible at the moment. I've read different advice, but haven't found a solution yet.
A work permit seems unrealistic (I'm self employed but registering a business in Russia is a bit over my capacity at the moment).
I could go home every 90 days to renew my business visa, but it's both expensive and I risk getting a no after a number of times and have trouble getting a visa in the future.
I've read about a some representative office accreditation visas being passed around, but haven't found any serious info on it.
I'm from the EU.
Any help is much appreciated! Cheers
