How did you make such a deal with KORSTON to get a room at 3'900RUB per night ?I know huh? Even I was surprised. This time it was 1800HOTELS. Had to pay all in advance but it was worth it. Took them up on the airport pick as well. From DOMO $92 but well worth it, private car and very professional, goes on hotel bill also.

WMPeter 1 is girl-friendly and there are also some pros working there, although when interviewed they were too expensive and more significantly, not all that attractive.

Taken several girlfriends home to there though, no questions asked.

Vladivostok is a stunning city, It has a true Russian heart, only years after the fall of communism was it finally opened to the public. I treat the city and people with respect. It is nothing like Moscow. Moscow is literally a world apart from Vladivostok. They don’t like Moscow. Vladivostok business pays a lot of tax to Moscow and very little of it ever comes back this way. If I was Russian and lived in Moscow I’d catch the Trans Siberian and go live in Vladivostok. It’s a lot more sophisticated and natural than dirty old Moscow. The people seem a happier beside the Pacific Ocean in Vladivostok.

The foyer is modern, little shops and cafe. Breakfast is included in the room price. It is buffet in a grand restaurant that looks out over the Ocean. The city and Harbour and beaches and parks and buildings are beautiful. The hotel is easy walking distance to city and beach and bars and cafes. Just a short walk along the seafront. Yep! if I could I’ld live there forever.

It is actually 2 hotels, Hotel Vladivostok above the cliff and the other over the road embedded into the cliff Hotel Amursky Zaiv right on the beach. They are run by the same management.

Do not the book the Hotel Amursky Zaiv option, that is the hotel over the road which is a good hotel but i have only limited knowledge of it. Several years back it was a dump but on my most recent visit I discovered Hotel Amursky Zaiv has had a stunning renovation. Its slightly cheaper if that fits. It is also run by Hotel Vladivostok. In actuality to complicate things further they are buildling a new Hotel Vladivostok behind the present one. It is going to tower above and have views both sides of the Harbour. It will be 5 star. It is suppose to be finished ahead of APEC. Because there building the new 5 star Hotel Vladivostok they don’rtreally renovate the old Hotel Vladivostok anymore, so don’t trip up on any worn carpet in some hallways.

Use http://unifest.ru/en/about.html to book airfare from Moscow to Vlad, they are good and well priced. You can book online then pick your tickets up in Moscow at their office or they can send them to you. They seem to have the best rates online and are reputable. If your going the other way, fly thru Seoul if you can get a fair airfare but Korean Air charges extortionate rates for the 1.5 hr flight from Seoul to Vladivostok. First time I went I went by ship from Korea, that was a real adventure. Do a search on my previous reports on that. I have lately been looking at flights through China. Whatever do protest at a Korean Air office over the rates they charge for such a short flight. There is some online protest over that. Its not the money, its just I don’t like being ripped off.

I also met girls through Mamba there and meet women through various cafes and bars. One girl I meet thru Mamba was great. She’s 19 and a sweet girl. As the argument became loud and heated this grey haired 60 year old man appeared from no-where in full camouflage gear. You may think, so what? But he was over 6 ft 6 inches and built like a giant bear and he carried this big revolver pointed sharply downwards with a straight arm. He didn’t even look at the 3 men as he shouted orders at them, he was prowling and surveying the room as if this disturbance was a decoy or something. He made them put their hands on their heads and kneel. The girls at reception were giggling, these 3 Moscow men had been rude before. Now was pay back time, Vladivostok style. They were shocked and shitting themselves. He ordered them to take their argument outside and then he vanished. A little while later 3 men sheepishly came back in and went straight to their rooms. ))
So, as I say, security is there.

Theres much I could write on, I did several of my walkabouts. One evening I walked down Pogranichnaya Ul just 5 minutes from Hotel Vladivostok. As I walked along in the distance I saw 1st floor bright purple lighted full length windows with fluttering curtains. As I got closer I discovered the fluttering curtains were in fact lingerie ladies dancing with long veils. I guess you could say this was an establishment of interest of which I paid a visit. The girls danced on the stage and bar in turns. I drank Coronas. Great place with modern decoy. I didn’t work out how the place operated and what was on offer, and by the time I was slightly tidily I decided to head for Hotel Vladivostok. Again I need to go back to Vladivostok again soon and explore further.

Vladivostok International Airport (IATA: VVO, ICAO: UHWW) is located near Artyom, some 50 km off the city center, has two airfields with four paved runways, and is able to receive most major types of aircraft, except very large ones such as Boeing 747 or Boeing 777. The main terminal (domestic) recently underwent a major renovation, making it the most modern airport building in the Russian Far East. The international terminal, which is located just next door to domestic one (in fact, they share the same parking), is very small and usually crowded, but as Vladivostok is slated to receive the APEC summit in 2012, the planning of further upgrades are underway. Currently, the main connection from the airport to the city is via local and shuttle buses (ticket price 55 R one-way to the Vladivostok bus station), but they would be later supplemented by the newly built railroad branch.
The airport's anchor airline is Vladivostok Air [3] that serves a majority of its available domestic and international routes. Well learned a little more last night. $200 is the agreed to flat rate for the hotel girls, period. The procedures for registration have changed in the last year or 2. It is now possible to register yourself at the Post Office by filling out a form, in Russian or course, and paying a small fee, maybe 200 руб.

It is only necessary to prove that you have an address in Moscow (or wherever you are staying), which will be the sticking point for someone who is a tourist.

So, if you have proof of an address in Moscow and you can read and write Russian, you're set. Just head on over to the Post Office and do the deed.

Otherwise, you will have to pay someone to do it for you.

But, it is no longer necessary to register with the Militsia, or the OVIR, or the FSB, or the NKVD, or the VDNXa...

And since my apartment is still not registered for tourist rentals, my travel agent always has to register me in a different address and has to charge me $120 for this special fee to the police. Then I still have to go back there again on Monday or Tuesday to get my passport back and my registration form. Then there's always the worry that you will lose this stupid little paper before you clear immigration.

Between all that bullshit, AND the new bullshit of being required to pay a travel agent to get a visa, it nearly makes going to Ukraine a better option. If it wasn't for the dyevuchki,.......

It's really not necessary to register. Most people don't. It's entirely possible that you could spend your whole time in Russia without registering and no one would be any the wiser. It's only an issue if the militsia decides to stop you and ask for your documenti. But they only do that with people who look suspicious or are acting in a strange, unusual or anti-social manner.

The procedures for registration have changed in the last year or 2. It is now possible to register yourself at the Post Office by filling out a form, in Russian or course, and paying a small fee, maybe 200 руб.

It is only necessary to prove that you have an address in Moscow (or wherever you are staying), which will be the sticking point for someone who is a tourist.

So, if you have proof of an address in Moscow and you can read and write Russian, you're set. Just head on over to the Post Office and do the deed.

Otherwise, you will have to pay someone to do it for you.

But, it is no longer necessary to register with the Militsia, or the OVIR, or the FSB, or the NKVD, or the VDNXa...

I may be off base with this comment so if it is incorrect then I apologize in advance. However, I have been told that in order to register a visitor you must be a "Moscow resident" and have some proof (some kind of document) to that effect. The exception to that rule is if you are a business (like a hotel) that is set up to receive non-residents of Moscow.

The reason I say this is that when in Moscow I normally rent an apartment from one of the agencies. One of the services they offer is the registration. On one occasion, I needed to get my visa registered in a hurry because of a scheduling conflict, but the manager told me that she could not do it herself because she is not a "proper" resident of Moscow (although she has lived there for years) and that we would have to wait day for her colleague to return to work because she is a "Moscow Resident" and could register me easily.

I have no proof one way or the other, but I get the impression that registering a guest is tantamount to sponsoring them to live at your residence. Although the rules have been relaxed, when you leave Moscow you should technically return the document to the person who registered you and they must report your departure to the same place they register your arrival. TECHNICALLY they can be in shit if they fail to do this.

I was told a story of a Ukrainian visitor last summer who arrived in Moscow by train. His host registered him and everything was cool. When it was time to return to Kiev, he hopped on the train and headed home. Then, when they were making the border crossing from Russia to Ukraine, a border guard (not sure if it was Russian or Ukrainian) discovered the registration document in his passport (along with the migration card) and gave him Supreme Shit for not giving it back to his host in Moscow and that he was potentially creating a problem for his host.

Here's my point (yes, I do have a point), this process appears to be complicated, fluid, randomly enforced, and poorly understood. And there are PLENTY of legal Moscow Residents who would be happy to register your guests for a small fee ($25?). Maybe ask one of your Muscovite co-workers if they can hep you out and register your guest? Worth a try.

This report is about my visit to Charmel few months ago (sorry for the delay).

For the record, I can speak Russian relatively fluently and was very much helped by this forum in zooming on 3 salons: Charmel, Fantasys and Elite Tv. I chose Charmel for some reason and was pleased with it. As this was my first visit to a Moscow salon, I was prepared for the worst. Yet, the service was quite professional in terms of discretion, girls, and amenities. 4000 rubles for an hour, I believe.

I may have been lucky with a girl, as she was friendly. I was put off by a refusal to do uncovered BJ and let my fingers inside her VJJ. 1. heard of them... never been there. There are literally 100s of salons/apartmenty in Moscow, so aside from a handful of the serial wh0remongers on sextalk.ru, nobody could have tried them all.

2. it's a crapshoot, really. In any case, the internet will not reflect reality, no matter how reputable the salon. There will almost always be new girls not reflected on the website, and some degree of Photoshop is usually involved.

3. to my knowledge, they don't speak English there, so I'm doubting if they're that popular with expats. Actually, of the regular contributors on this forum, only a few of us frequent those salons (most likely for that reason). Thanks!In my experience there is no such thing as English-speaking salons per se. Whether or not you will find an administrator who speaks English will probably just be a matter of luck... or maybe just her mood. Same with the girls. ´Most don't, but some of them are remarkably fluent.

I don't wish to discourage anyone, but nothing about Russia is foreigner-friendly. The whole idea of catering to foreigners or speaking foreign languages is pretty "foreign" to anybody in the service-industry, with the exception of hotels etc. In terms of P4P exceptions are those places entirely catering to foreigners like NF or HD and we all know the disadvantages of those places.

That said, pretty much all of us mongers spoke very little or no Russian when we began and somehow all managed to get laid. You think Ca_Traveller and the tochka mamachka were chatting about Shakespeare in the Queen's English before he took a nubile 20-year old Ukrainian home for chai and the flashlight test?

Another option is to hire a guide/translator. As I recall, there's a dude who offers such services, and will also take you around to high-end clubs and such. It's in this forum somewhere, but I don't have time to search for it myself.

In general, a taxi driver should be able to do all you need for an extra 100/200 rubles:
- call the salon, see where they're located, if they have an available room, and who's working (if you had a favorite in mind)
- drive you there, and call to tell them that you're there, and in which car to find you in case it's cold (at least CharmFantElit always send a doorman to fetch you)
- at that point, the doorman will take you in and you can revert to body language (eg point at the girl you want) and basic Russian ("ah-deen chass" is one hour, "pole-tah-rah chass-a" is hour and a half, "dvah chass-a" is two hours, etc)

Coming to Moscow since many years, but still not speaking more than 100 words of Russian, I think that the opportunities haven t changed dramatically over the years.

For people, who are not used or don t want to experiment with unpredictable situations, you have to go to the wellknown places.

New is the GQ Bar, which offers a very nice surrounding, but a limited selection of working girls.

The HotDog/Boarhouse has upgraded their interiour, but of course forget the toilets. The service is lousy as in old soviet times. The entrance fee is now 300, for what? As promised, I'm posting a report about a recently-completed visit to Fantasys. I have made an extensive research of their website and picked 3 names: Oksana, Diana and another one, whose name I now forgot.

Called in, came and saw 3 girls waiting for me in one room. To my surprise (after reading so many positive posts about this establishment), the girls were not in the mood to exhibit even minor attempt to friendliness. I am relatively young, well groomed and good looking. So, I'm certain that their attetude had little to do with me per se.

I picked the least unfriendly Oksana. After disappearin for a while, Oksana came in and squeezed out herself few words that made it plainly clear to me that I won't enjoy the encounter. Sorry you had a bad time. I feel somewhat responsible, but on the other hand, it's not that I gave false info. 90% of the time I go to these salons, I do have a good time. Though I concur with many of your comments:
1) 4500 an hour is very steep. What you're paying for isn't necessarily the girl. It's also the location, the newly remodeled interior, the discretion, the marketing...
2) many of the girls there have been around the block a few (dozen) times. Not all, but many.
