Many of you have been to Club Petrovich. It's a private club that requires you to be "recommended" by two other members. This serves as a barrier to entry and keeps the riff raff (and foreigners) out. I was there Saturday night (Sunday morning) from 1 AM until about 4:30 AM. It was legendary. What was interesting was that there were VERY FEW women there under the age of 30. But OMG were they hot. And horny. I was there with a woman on a date and was still getting my ass grabbed left and right. It was hilarious. And I am in my mid 50's!

I was seeing myself heading to Night Flight last night to see why this place is so famous. Dining at the restaurant, food is OK, I'm not a picky eater but for those who expect more it would be a huge disappointment. But I didn't go for the food of course, I got down to the bar, to see the girls, to be impartial with what I saw, a lot of 5's. 6's maybe one 8, but no more that that, staying there because I want to have fun by all means, approach to some girls, but they were so expensive 500 USD for normal sex WTF! Back where I am originally from, putting in that much effort is generally anti-productive, girls think differently, and not unfamiliar with this behavior but in Russia that behavior can make up for looks and money. It could well be the first time they have been treated like that if they have never come across a foreigner before.
I also think for the pessimists out there, you have to be not scared to be turned down (or too emotionally attached) and just give it a crack. It definitely suits the calculated bastard who can have 3 to 4 girls at one time and as they are weeded out, replaced.

Rosetta Stone with a good verb book is dollar for dollar the best if you want to learn Russian. Don't go into a Russian class green, it's expensive and you will learn little.Fortunately where I am living the Russian classes are government subsidized and cheap. Can learn much more than Rosetta stone and get a very good explanation of Russian grammar and spelling / pronunciation rules. I at one time did some practice with Rosetta Stone for other languages but found it only serves to extend vocabulary. Nothing can make up for being tied down for 3 hours at one time and forced to listen to a language and take part. I finally understood why the 'o' become an 'a' and cases. Sure, one can just be understood in nominative case but impress with using the correct case.

I was at Che bar yesterday, didn't expect much about the place, but what a surprise, the place was packed of people, beautiful devushkas dancing. What I could say about Moscow, it's a nice metropolis, if you understand Cyrillic is even better, unfortunately I'm not fluent at all, but I could find my way. I was more focus in hookers this time, the first hooker introduced me another nice devushka who is very seldom in night flight. But both girls offering me a good service, no complaints at all, it was GF experience. I spent less time trying to develop some friendship with some Moscow girls, it will turn out in something I'm pretty sure about that. I have been living here for a year now and I must say a lot has changed since my first visit in 2000, With my first anniversary of living in Moscow and some knowledge of I thought I'd register to put my thoughts down and contribute a bit.
Unlike some I'm not too pessimistic about the bar scene. I have been trying out bar / clubs, a couple of good ones where tipped here. I Didn't know Old School Pub for instance. Quite an amusing place although like in most places the music is shitty. That pretty much goes for all bars actually.
Some places I have not been seeing a lot I want to share with you.
Craisy Daisy is a good place for student type girls, quite a young crowd but I met a stunning girl there in leather pants. The bar is Coyote Ugly style but this leather pants girls also took the bar with her friends. So a loose athmosphere there. Some 300rub admission on the weekend.
Crisis Zjanra is decent if you would be looking for not the typical high heel moscow girls. Bit on the alternative side and decent live performances (by bands, not pole dancers.)
Another place I visit is klava club. Small place, not actually a club, more a bar but things can get pretty hot in there. Worth a check.
I will be posting more about the bar scene if I found some decent ones again.

I think it's two things; first, the nature of foreigners in Moscow has changed over the years and second, the nature of mongering in Moscow has changed a lot. It's not NEARLY as "in your face" as it once was and so there seems to be less to write about. Having said that, I suppose you could say that new comers to Moscow need information now more than EVER just for that very reason.

Time was, it was a very closed group here on the Moscow board. There were several members of this board who lived/worked in Moscow and were willing to report on their experiences regularly, plus a few members who traveled to Moscow frequently and also kept us up to date with what was happening "on the ground".
But, as Jake says, the situation is much different now. Mongering in Moscow is not what it was. It's not as easy to pick up women for (paid) sex, at least not at a reasonable price. The Russian economy has improved to the point where a young woman in Moscow has many more opportunities available to her than simply selling herself. Which has it's good points and bad points. It seems the clubs nowadays are packed with young women looking to hook up with a guy, but that's not about money, you gotta have the game if you want to make that connection. There are still members of this board living/working in Moscow, but it seems they are so busy juggling their stable of Russian girlfriends that they don't have the time, or inclination, to report.
Which leaves us with the touristas. You're right, there does seem to be more foreigners in Moscow now. Every week we have a post from someone of the, Hi-I-will-be-in-Moscow-next-week-for-3-days-what-should-I-do? variety. And, of course, there's not much any Westerner can do in Moscow, unless you have huge amounts of cash to throw around.
Russia is still a very closed society, to the outside world. But within that society there is another kind of parallel universe that exists. If you can speak Russian, then it's a little like jumping down the rabbit hole into another world of limitless sexual opportunities. Go back and read some of YummyPL's posts if you want to understand more about that.
It's an interesting puzzle, Putin understands that the Russian economy can't rely on selling natural resources forever. He knows he has to open up the economy, and he gives a lot of lip service to things like direct foreign investment. But, on the other hand, the old KGB officer in him just can't seem to let go his grip.
It's a uniquely Russian riddle, wrapped, of course, in an enigma. :)

You would need a staff of people to publish the constant updates and revisions that would be necessary.
It's easier to just read sextalk.ru, that's the best mongering handbook for Moscow.

I'm currently sitting in the airport in Prague waiting for my connection to Moscow. I will be staying 13 nights this trip. As I said before, I travelled to Moscow last week, for mongering and also plan to meet a non pro girl I'm working with. This is really over the average success for Moscow.It's true, Yummy has had much more success than the average tourista in Russia. This is because he is willing to invest many hours to find these women and cultivate a relationship with them. This is report of Day 1. This is my 5th trip to Moscow in under a year as a simple sex tourist.
I arrived in Moscow at 0530 on Saturday 8 Feb. I get through all the airport stuff, take aeroexpress into the city, and take the metro to Smolenskaya, and walk to my apartment. If you have luggage I suggest you take a taxi but at 0730 on a Saturday morning the metro was dead. I arrive at my apartment after 8 AM and settle in for a few hours sleep. Nadya and I wake up around 13:00. We had spent most of the night sleeping close in each other's arms. Well following the advise from this site I went to old school pub around 23:00 this night and I did not get in. In Che I also did not get in. Like I said before the nightlife in Moscow sucks and you better off in Munich or another German City. I found my girlfriend through Russiancupid and this is much better than going to bars. Finally I just went to La Kantina which is always nice. However the drink here also getting more expensive (Rum-cola now 280 Rub which was 180 Rub one year ago.
I have to be here for business but even then it it not that great. I recommend not going to Moscow unless absolutely nessecary for business. For mongering any German city is much better than Moscow. I work 50% of my time in Moscow and the other 50% in Germany so I know what I talk about.

TiffanyI agree 100%. Germany cannot beat for mongering. Moscow has a different appeal. If you live there 50% of the time there is absolutely no reason for you to ever pay a hooker unless you want to. As Jake said to me when we were having a drink together,"Moscow is filled with under-appreciated 7s." You just need to find them (or have them find you!) and appreciate them.

I wear normal casual clothes, like Gant, Tommy, Mc Gregor but not a suit. But I am 47 and maybe they only let young people in. I do drink in bars, kiss, touch, in general you can be bolder in Russia than in Europe since they will kick you out easily. I have picked up some gals from La Kantina before for one night stand so it is not impossible. Just my experience is that if a girl is with 2 friend or something they want to go back together. No matter how much she enjoyed that night with you, the moment she is sober the next morning all is forgotten and that includes you then. I think it also depends on the time of the night, at 9:00 they will probably let you in but at prime time in a popular club in the centre you can forget to get in alone. So the nightlife in Moscow pretty much sucks for me, that's why I mostly focus on internet dating and not on meeting gals in bars since it is almost impossible in Russia. I have travelled to many countries and if you ever come in Asia (Shanghai, Taipei, Seoul, Singapore, Bangkok) the nightlife is so much better, cheaper and the girls nicer and easyer.
I think that speaking Russian makes life a lot easyer and my Rusian level is close to zero which makes it also very difficult to get taxis. But to learn Russian I probably had to quit my job for one or two years to full time study Russian which is not possible.

I lost my notes on Day 5. I know not much happened but I am not sure why I did not have a lunch date planned. I know I wanted to have the evening at home with the girls because this was Nadya's last night with me.
Around 14:00 I contacted my new girl Maria (Masha) and asked if she could meet me for an early dinner. I had told her I had arrived in Moscow on Monday, two days earlier. She agreed and we met near her metro station at around 18:00 and went to a place called El Basco Tapas Bar. It was quiet, and had good food for the price. It was a good place to sit and talk. I believe all the other ones believe me completely. My story is basically seamless and consistent across every woman I meet. The only slight difference really is where I am on any given day and arrival dates and departure dates. I keep it simple and take notes for myself. This is almost as much science as it is art for me. I would like to make the trips to Moscow simply tourism trips but who goes to Moscow 5-6 times a year just for tourism? So my frequency also adds to the illusion.

I used to think the same thing about New York City, how many millions of people live there? And yet I was constantly running into people I knew, but it was usually in mid-town Manhattan, the center of town. So in a popular night club, in the center of Moscow, on a Saturday night, it's not really that strange. This is the last few days. I am still going to post my cost details and preparation details. I am returning to Moscow for my 6th trip next week.

Now the really interesting question is whether all these trends are going to come together and cause some kind of flip over in gender interaction in Russia when some or other threshold is crossed. Being sought after tends to make people arrogant, so the women may become more aloof. Once those processes start, they could reinforce each other and the situation could spiral rapidly.
Personally I think this is already happening, and Russia's is deteriorating as a destination for meeting women faster than people realize. The one customization I do is that I address all of them by name. I have tried variations on the message and made changes based on response rates and reactions. I contact girls from 18-35 but 95% are below 30 and I would guess 70% are below 26. I contact very few blondes. Over the last 6 months I have generally choosing girls that say they drink although only one of the girls I have met directly from the site did much drinking. I also don't contact girls unless the age range they are looking for is at least 35.
Looking at my messages I would say I get about a 20% initial response rate from my spam. After the initial response, I get about half writing a little longer and then I look for specific types of interests and responses. If the girl only responds to questions and does not ask her own questions, then I drop them pretty quickly. It is clear they are not that interested. Of the 2000 I have spammed, I have engaged in regular written conversation with about 50. Of those 50 I have met about 20 in person. Of those 20 in person meetings, I have fucked 7 and gotten referrals for 2 more that I have fucked.
I like to contact girls new to the site, and recently I have been contacting girls closer to when I arrive in Moscow. When I first met 'Ariel, ' I had had contacted her the day before on her first day on the site, and told her I was in Moscow right then. Girls are flakey. I think it is good not to write a very long time before meeting. I also tend to make first contact in Russian.
I also have stock responses to MANY questions now and will cut and paste to save time. I have a few 'interesting stories' that I can customize to the girl that really get them going. One story I consistently tell is that I just helped a friend deliver puppies and go into some of the details. In the 4 months before I first went to Moscow, I would guess that I spent 400-500 hours on the site and writing to different girls. It was a lot of work. So you contacted 2,000 women online, and of those, 2.5% responded on a regular basis. You met 1% in person and you ended up having sex with .45% (including referrals).
This required a minimum initial investment of 600 hours of your time (450+150) online, probably more, plus the on-going investment of time to maintain these relationships. This doesn't count the time, and expense, of traveling to Russia several times.
There is an age-old debate about "freebies" vs. paid sex. I think those of us who have been mongering for a while understand that, aside from a brief period in the summer of 1967, there is no such thing as free sex. All sex is paid for, it's just a question of which currency you want to use. In your case you chose to spend your time and save on your cash money.
It's easy to think that our time is "free", but if you were to assign even a nominal value to your hundreds of hours of time, say the minimum wage, divided by the total number of girls and taking into account the fucks-per-girl, the cost of your approach is about the same as going to one of the clubs in Moscow that have on-site sex and taking a girl to one of the rooms. And it is significantly more expensive than meeting dyeffki through one of the online escort/massage sites in Moscow.
But then, those alternatives would not be anywhere nearly as much fun as the path you have chosen. :)

The basic default site is Mamba. Ru (date. Ru). Tens of thousands of active members, thousands on-line at any time. Yes there are a lot of fake profiles and "pros" or escort services behind many profiles, but you can figure most of this out over time. And maybe you are looking for pros or similar girls. But equally there are huge numbers of normal girls, although many are not necessarily looking for Western men, whereas many other sites are all about East-West relations.
In the past (years ago) I likes LuckyLovers, as it seemed to have all "real" girls and had a good chat / forum discussion feature which allowed you to really get to know some of the girls. However, now it seems to be a very small pond of mostly older women. There might only be a couple of dozen on-line at any given time (and usually those are the same old war horses). However, I have still found some gems there, but will probably not rejoin, now that I understand how small the pool is.
Again in the past I used Elenas Models with some success. It also seemed to have all (mostly) real girls, of decent quality, with good English skills and open to older guys. Good analysis. I have to agree with you about the 30 year olds. Like it or not, they are the prime pickings. I find that the 20 somethings are a pain-in-the-ass. Their attitudes have disintegrated and I don't have the energy to put up with their BS anymore. But, maybe that's just me getting old. Responding to various points made by others recently:
- I was in Ukraine earlier this year (Kiev and Crimea). I had some constraints, but managed to slip away for mongering about 5 nights and 2-3 days. Historically I have found Ukrainian women very beautiful, perhaps more beautiful than Russian women. The relatively large difference in income should make the Ukrainian women more available. But I struggled and I found that prices were not all that low. Perhaps it was for lack of time to work things out.
- I was in FKK Palace in Frankfurt earlier this year. It was crawling with Romanians, as were the other places I visited in the area. I found them very beautiful, but the sex variable. That may also be because the efficiency and mass nature of the FKK experience in itself is not conducive to GFE.
- I am certainly no expert on Romanian women. But one way I think about it as you move from Russia, to Ukraine, to Moldova / Romania is that you are gradually going south. You are getting more south European flavor (which some might think of as "Latin") , both in looks and in terms of behavior. In terms of behavior, you are gradually getting more coquette, slightly more hard to get, slightly more passionate girls. For me, the big difference between Russia and Ukraine has been the Ukrainian girls learned long ago about this thing called "internet." Russian girls seem to me a bit slower on the uptake (this is all relative. Girls in the big cities are very different from girls in the provinces).
However, if your in to "exclusive" relationships in Russia / Ukraine, forget it. If your the jealous type, your in trouble. Russian and Ukrainian girls have this idea that having multiple guys in a "relationship" with them is a great thing. And if one of them is a foreigner, all the better (all the easier to manage).
Want to know the real talent of Ukrainian / Russian girls?. All the while you think you are playing them, they are playing you. Medical tests regularly are a must if you are in a GFE relationship.
Forget the "good old days." Girls in Russia either know or soon learn about this phenomena called "internet." Once they discover it and learn how much European men are willing to pay for Russian girls in Paris, etc, and the prices change accordingly (with the top end girls. 8s). Having written that, there is still the Russian price and the foreign price, but be aware in Russia the 8s charge the Russian men the same price as foreigners. I call this the GASPROM price. The really great looking girls go after Russian men with money.
For example, there is this drop dead gorgeous girl in Piter I have met and chatted with a few times whose price is 15000 rubles for 3 hours. She is definitely, in my opinion an "8." I have never taken her up on her offer, just met her a few times for a drink, but oh boy! I am tempted. This is, of course, the same price you would get in Europe. Most of the girls I meet I would rank as "6"s and "7"s - although personally this has a lot to do with weight. I'm into the thin, almost emaciated look, so if a girl puts on a few pounds she can easily move down from a 7 to a 6.
And bye the way, the shelf life for a Russian girl is about 28. After that, their looks go down, down, down, downhill.
Now, if you can connect with the girl from the provinces, that is different, until she gets some street sense and realizes she's been naive. This means being lucky and connecting with her in one of the big cities. Anyone who would travel to a Russian rural area is crazy.
Mamba is still, albeit with some work, useful. Check out other dating sites too. Do the leg work. Prep work is critical to success in Russia, unless your living / working in Russia. With some time dedicated to prep on Mamba or pay dating sites, you can have a good time, although I can't say it will be "cheap."
For "cheap" you need to go to Asia. As far as I know that is the only place left where a casual monger can go with a budget.
If your living / working in Russia, the rules change. You will have Russian colleagues setting you up. Completely different situation.

Yummy, I wonder if it's just the FKK's you frequent? I am by no means an expert having only visited Palace FKK in Frankfurt a handful of times. But each time I went there were plenty of Russians (naturally) , some Ukrainians, a Hungarian, a Colombian (if you can believe it) some Poles and a girl from Egypt. But I sure do not remember any Romanians. Maybe they just don't like Palace FKK?Actually I should adjust my numbers some. All of the big clubs do have a handful of Asian, African, and Latina girls. I generally stay away from them in FKKs because if I want one of them I go to their home countries. A Filipino is much better in the Philippines than she is in an FKK.
Hmmm, I have not been to Palace since 2005 but it had plenty of Romanians then (but perhaps a better mix). In the last 4 years I have been to big clubs like Oase, Artamis, Sakura, and many other smaller clubs and I stand by my estimated 80%+. In fact, I have been to clubs like Heaven and Tantra which are 100% Romanian. It is almost a joke when I ask them where they are from and then I clarify I mean which city.
In Sakura, to suggest diversity, girls that are Romanian will often say they are something else. A girl called Diana said she was Spanish because she lived there 3 years, Same with a girl 'from' Italy, and this girl that had a Hungarian father said she was Hungarian, although when you get to know them a little you discover they are actually all from Romania. This beautiful girl from Turkey left Sakura after a couple of weeks because she had no girls to talk to.
Jake, what you say is surprising to me, but I have no doubt that you spoke to Russian and Ukrainian girls in Palace. They are probably drawn to you like a magnet. A hushed murmur spreads through the club 'This American guy can speak Russian! ' I would think it would almost be a thrill for them. And my Russian is most certainly laughable. But then, I have always valued pronunciation over grammar and strive to make what little Russian I speak sound "just like a Russian".

My experience has been that most people in the world, not only Russia, are so amazed to meet an American who speaks any language other than English that it becomes an almost endearing quality. You want to empirically test this? In any social situation with Russians, introduce the Ukrainians speaking Russian or Belorussians speaking Russian topic. Watch the evening take a hilarious, if arrogant, turn. Russians LOVE making fun of the way Ukrainians and Belorussians speak Russian: their accents, all. And it ain't just fun. It's Russian superiority vis a vis "others" inferiority. Now, given that Ukrainians and Belorussians speak Russian fluently, and Russians can certainly understand them, just imagine what Russians think of Europeans and Americans who butcher Russian?
Or, if you want the conversation to take a serious and racist turn, introduce the topic of Caucuses peoples and the way they "barely" speak Russian at all. How do Russians know the inferiority of them? Look at how poorly they speak Russian.
Russians are Ethnocentric in an extreme way. More so than the French, though about the same as Parisians, in my opinion (don't get me started on the way the French make fun of Canadian and Louisiana French speakers). And if we generally agree on this, that Russians are ethnocentric, then we must also understand that Ethnocentrism begins and ends with language and the superiority and PURITY of one's own language over others. To put it another way, the mispronunciation of Russian words by Belorussians and Ukrainians and foreigners OFFENDS Russians. It angers them.
Russian for them is SACRED. It is the language of great art and literature, and, similar to the French, if you can't speak it well, don't speak it at all. They have many different words and expressions, every educated Russian knows and can quote from Pushkin, they have and use about a million profane words, and their conversations are rich and complex and full of linguistic subtleties. They can tell your class and educational level in a nanosecond based on the way you speak. And yeah, learn to say "hi" and "goodbye" in Russian and they will smile and be amused, and inwardly snicker at the fact that you can't even pronounce "privet" correctly.
Moreover, any Russian who speaks any English at all would rather butcher English and try and communicate and learn English from you, than have you butcher Russian.
Now, of course, I mean really, if your alone and visiting Russia and working / living in Russia you do what you do. And if trying to find someplace means speaking bad Russian then by all means do so. And if the girl you are with is complementing you on your Russian and your Russian friends and colleagues are complementing you, then that's the game yes? We play them and they play us and as long as we all end the day satisfied what 's the harm?
And now for something completely different. (and yes I can "speak" some Russian and it's most useful to overhear what people say when they think I can't understand what they are saying). Was in one of the big mega malls here in Piter today. At the entrance was a drop dead gorgeous girl handing out fliers. I sat and ate some pizza and just watched her. I counted 5 Russian guys attempting to hit on her. Three of them were obviously upper middle class / upper class, designer clothes, full Armani / whatever regalia, and led with presents (single red rose, ice cream, stuffed animal). One of them I overheard saying "I'll wait for you and give you a ride home in my new black BMW X6" or something or other." And that, for me, is the biggest difference now in Russia. Domestic competition has the gestures AND money AND can court them in Russian and speak all those niceties Russia girls just love to hear. Although, near as I can tell, she shot all of them down. Oddly enough, the guy she seemed most friendly with was a grungy one with no presents and lots of tattoos. Go figure. The 'bad boy' works in Russia.
Take it easy, Skwiskwis. English accent is never ridiculed. To tell the truth this is often the case with German (sounds harsh) or Finnish (sounds slow). As for competition don't compete with yourself. If you are not genuine or a cheapskate within your means you don't stand the chance.

IMHO your Belarus, Ukraine example is closer to the British English, American English, Australian English "thing" than anything else. Each of these forms of English is peppered with local words and accents. And the ones who are closest to the origin of the language like to "bust" on everyone else for the funny way they talk.
In my experience, Russians usually appreciate your effort for trying to learn their language. However, when you DO get ridiculed for trying to learn and use learn and use the Russian language, you are probably dealing with someone who feels threatened by your attempt to penetrate their impervious Russian barrier. For some, the very idea of you communicating with them in their native tongue is threatening and offensive. It's ok for them to learn English,"but don't you DARE sully the melodious language of Pushkin". IMHO, when Russians ridicule (rather then help) an English speaker for their attempt for using English, it's usually because they are impatient and rude. My thankfully brief recent visit to Moscow.
Rented an apartment in StPb. Hotel in Moscow. Found the apartment on Airbnb. Highly recommend it. More and more Russians are advertising their apartments on Airbnb and you can negotiate directly with the owner. In most cases you can also arrange for them to meet you at the airport, either for free or for the normal taxi charge. You can also check out the locations of the apartments on Airbnb and contact multiple owners. I'm paying around 63$ a night for a very nice studio 10 minutes walk from the metro. Great price for StPb. Hotel found on booking.com
Took me all of 30 minutes to walk to the metro and get to the train station to travel to that other, very unimportant, so-called southern capital, Moscow.
One of the fast trains. Four hours. Total cost roundtrip about 6500 rubles. Highly recommend the train if your visiting both cities. Professionally run. Comfortable. And you end up in the city, not out at one of the airports. You can buy the tickets on the internet. Carry food and drink with you. They do sell food and drink on the train. Much more expensive. Unfortunately, the seats only recline in the business section. You can also get wifi, but it's only free in the business section.
Although simply taking a 50 minute plane to Moscow ain't bad either. Cost is around the same. I did travel on the train with a colleague, so having company on the train may have been why it left a good impression on me. That and you can use the toilet and walk around any time you want. However all flights, domestic and international, have moved into the new terminal at Pulkovo in St Pb, so the airport experience is much better there now. Bus and small mini bus to the nearest metro is #39.
Had some business the first day, but stayed two extra nights to meet with Natasha Long Blond Hair (175cm/mid 20s) who drove to Moscow to meet with me. We stayed in a hotel which I won't recommend. The price was reasonable for Moscow. 6600 rubles for two nights, but we ended up getting charged extra charges for a variety of petty things.
I met her on Streamate 4 or 5 years ago, when she was a student. Now she has a full time job. She bought an apartment in her city. As I mentioned previously, I'm slowly redecorating her apartment because our agreement is more or less I make a present to her of one part of the renovation each time we meet. This time it is tiles for the floor. Two nights together, three days. 20000 rubles. No idea what will happen when the apartment is finished.
Oddly enough we never met when she was a student working on Streamate. I could never convince her to travel to St Petersburg to meet me. After 3 years or so I just finally accepted her invitation to meet her in her city. Since then (last year) we've met a few times, either in her city (where I stay with her in her apartment) or in Moscow (which she can drive to in a few hours).
So I'd put her in the 'Long game' category. A girl I just couldn't arrange to meet for years, kept in touch with, and finally had success with. Russia can offer all sorts of rewards if your patient.
She has one big downside. She likes Moscow. She even looks forward to going there. She even wants to go there. Takes all kinds.
Anyway, she did bring her car and I was driven around to her favorite haunts and a couple of mine, but none of these were bars or clubs. Just favorite places to eat and walk and such. Neither one of us plays the High-Octane-Moscow game. Though I will say giving her an opportunity to dress up and wear heels is a very good idea. Given the time of year and the holidays, traffic wasn't bad, and the weather was great. It was freezing in St Pb and sunny and relatively warm in Moscow. Go figure. How is it even possible such an awful city can ever have good weather? I can even say not having to navigate the Moscow metro slightly improved my opinion of the city. Its gone from an armpit without deodorant to an armpit with deodorant.

I rode the skoro poezd from Piter to Moscow once, long time ago. We traveled all night. Didn't have wi-fi, just a very quarrelsome dyezhurnaya, but I was able to get a glass of chai in the morning. I actually enjoyed riding the train, and, as you point out, it is very convenient to arrive in the center of the city, as opposed to one of the airports outside of town. If I was in Moscow now, I think it would be interesting to take the train from Moscow to Simferopl. Putin has suggested to the transportation authorities that they should provide inexpensive fares to his new territorial capital, you can get round trip to Simferopl for about half the cost of your ticket to Piter.

Natasha is very nice, certainly a good solid 6, borderline 7. But I don't understand the reference to the long blonde hair, in the photos she looks more like a brunyetka. That is the reason why in all business ads, visit carts, and so on usually there is the name of closer metro station. Only residential area outside / outskirts Moscow has no easy access to metro. Moscow governement is almost opening a new station each month.
Mind that indication are in Russian only. Most station have two exit, some more... On ground of lots of railways going via Moscow, you might get out on one side and be in one city part, on the other seems another continent. If you start learning the cyrillic letters it's quite easy and rational, of course intimidatig the firt time. Buy a 10 run card it's around 6/7 euro, and you slip to queue all the times...

If there are real traffic jams (not present only on Sunday morning)... Travelling by metro and bus you can save hours... From airports (all three are served SVO, DME, VKO) to a point in the City usually it takes no more than 1.15 or 1.30 by car (I did it and nearly lost the plane) it can take even 3 hours... The only problem is the baggage... In the internal corridors and for smaller level differences between lines often there is no escalator...

I was successful on the metro on my first trip. By my third trip I found it easy to navigate. It is really the best way to get around the city but it closes around 01:00 so not the best for going out late at night. It is about $1 USD to go as far as you want to go and you can go to the kiosk and hand them money and show on you hand the number of credits you want if you cannot tell them in Russian. It is pretty important (but not essential) that you at least have a decent understanding of Cyrillic and helpful to know where you are going before you get there. I have an English metro map on my phone. Jake has a great app on his phone that will tell you the best route for a particular destination.

I don't think you are missing anything, but you should understand that Moscow is not what it once was.
Ten years ago you could walk down the street and wink at a cute girl and it was 50:50 that she would stop and chat with. Yes, just go elsewhere, but even in Moscow outskirts (I always live in a suite, two rooms, 45 square meters, for 100 , 25 min metro and it's OK) you can find clerks, jobless, maids, barmaid etc etc, but my favourite are students. If you need to buy a metro card all you have to do is walk up to the window in the metro station and use your fingers to indicate how many trips you want on the card. Kitchen Russian is optional. Unfortunately, to return, I had to arrange a car at the hotel: 2500 rubles for the return trip to Sherm Airport.

Both prices and reliability are excellent. About 900 rubles from Arbat area to Sherm at 03:00 and they will pick up immediately or schedule a pickup. Price structure is on the site. If you are in the center it never takes more than 10 minutes for a pickup. They send SMS with driver and car details. They mostly speak Russian but if you ask real nice they will put on an English speaking person. "Pojalusta, pa-angliski, pojalusta. ".
There is also a great iphone app for getting taxis.

I'm flying again to Russia at the end of July. Returning in August. Round trip ticket price to Moscow: $1400.00. To Petersburg: $1600.00. If you happen to live in NYC you can get direct flights to Moscow for around $1000.00 in August, if you book ahead of time.
And don't forget your visa.

Been here about four years, greatest city in the World in my opinion. Especially for girls and going out. Also if you compare with other cities abroad (and in Russia) the fact that you pay no entrance fees makes it the most worthy place for your money and the cheapest, along with the good ratio.
