Some hotels have lobby girls. Supposedly one of the best is Hotel Kosmos, near Mira Prospect. Ask for a renovated room. There is a disco/club to the right of the reception desk that is well-stocked. Can't say on current prices, but probably about $100/hour.
Other hotels with lobby girls are Sheraton, Hotel Budapest, Hotel Peter 1 etc. Generally speaking, lobby girls are a bit older... usually about 30-35 years old and a bit rough around the edges... i.e. not so pretty, but bodies are ok. IT, I was in National thousand times and never in the life saw there girls. The rate of 100$ per hour sounds absolutely impossible for this sort of a place. In hotels girls have to pay security fee from each client. National is not a cheap place. With these rates girls would have nothing left in their own pockets at all. Inside this hotel, I guess, there is no any action. Security watch around like hungry dogs. Girls-students and many similar sites (moscow-students, beauties-students, etc.) advertise on the Moscow times. There are about 8-9 sites that are advertised there, but most are just replications of one another. There are really just two sets of sites. I've used them a handful of times.

When you sent in your visa application, you were required to list ALL destinations, not just Moscow. Of course, you are also required to have an invitation from a travel agent for ALL destinations also. You need this invitation to register your passport in ALL your destinations. If you are not registered, you can have problems when you try to board your plane to return to Moscow. Sure you may be able to pay some fine or bribe, but do you want to take these chances?
If their computer actually works, and they see that your visa is only for Moscow, how will you explain what you are doing in Chelyabinsk? It is not a tourist destination, so they will automatically assume you are there for something else, like spying. They are still paranoid fucks!

After you get there, go to a travel agent, and they should be able to help you get your flights and hotels, and invitations. If you show those, you shouldn't have trouble getting hotels to register you.

The ONLY info on your visa is your arrival and departure dates. But once you are in kazan, you still need to register your passport with the police. Without an invitation, I'm not sure what they will say. Maybe you'll just have to pay a few hundred dolllars fine, get fingerprinted, mug shots, and waste a few days with their paperwork. But if you stay at a hotel, they should register you.
Ask your internet friend for the name and telephone of a hotel in Kazan, and make a reservation. That is basically your invitation right there.
When you get back to Moscow from Kazan, again you're not crossing any borders, so they shouldn't even check anything on your papers, you should just walk right out of the airport. They will check for your registrations when you leave Russia. Be ready for more fines.

Be ready for more fines.I've only been to Russia one other time and that was a very brief stay in Sankt Petersburg to visit a girl I knew there. Of course, SPB was the only city I went to. I had a tourist visa. When I departed at Pulkovo airport (flying back through Germany), the only thing I had to show at Pulkovo was my passport. I'm not sure they even looked at my visa when I was leaving, but I certainly did not have any questions pertaining to the registration of my visa. In fact, the ONLY time I had to show my visa to the Russians was my initial arrival at Pulkovo (at customs). My stay there was very short and I think my apartment service registered me, but I wouldn't have known either way. They never brought it up to me.
I mention this, because in my short experience there the tourist visa seemed to be nothing more than an extra tax for entering Russia, as I had absolutely no use for it after I cleared customs entering Pulkovo. That's why I got the idea about hopping a flight, just go check out some babe I'm lusting for in Kazan without an extra invitation to my visa.
All this being said, perhaps my experience was exclusive only to SPB and not indicative of what I would face in Moscow or other cities. Once more, thanks for the advice!

Saint Pete is the number one toursit destination, so they probably couldn't give two shits about EU citizens going home. Moscow is the primary business destination, so again, you're just another german leaving town.
But when you venture forth into the heart of the motherland, they look at you differently. If anything, its because there's nothing else for them to do, and 99 percent of who they check are russians and FSU citizens, who don't require any visas or invites, so you stroll up and give them a reason to actually do some fucking work. Who else are they going to get the chance to fuck with, except you? Are the words, "big fat bribe" written on your forehead? That's what they see, because their rules are too fucked up for any foreigner to understand, so you are easy pickings. You got a plane to catch, and you got money, so now you just became a special case.

After a series of frustrations in Moscow (some of which I detailed in previous posts), I finally got some good sex.
Summary of my findings:
- internet girls that come to your place: never again. The photos are doctored, and you don't get to know even a little the personality of the girl before having her at your door.
- visit to internet girls at their place: same as above, plus you will need a driver and give him your cellphone to talk to the djevuchka in order to actually find the ***ing place.
- salon: better option than the 2 above. But you will also not find it on your own. They begin by giving you a wrong address on the phone, which is not far from the final location. You have to call a second time, and the instructions to get to the salon were not understandable to me. So don't send your driver away when you arrive at the address you get on the first phone call.
- tochka: why not, but the costs for a tochka girl are almost the same nowadays as for a high-class girl. Tochka: minimum 800 for taxi driver, about 7000 or 8000 for the girl, depending on tochka + padarak dlia mamutschka + they are usually hungry and will empty your fridge + will try all kinds of money-sucking techniques on you if you don't make them afraid beforehand.
It is important that you precisely define and agree the business wih the girl. Russians (men and girls) are usually honoring precisely defined obligations. A few things to think about: total time, how much times, anal yes/no (usually no for club girls), kissing.
- Club Girl: best option from my point of view. I went a couple of times to Night Flight in Tverskaya. In the club you can chat a little with the girl, and know her interest in you. Prices vary greatly. A relatively ugly one wanted 500 EUR (= 17000 Rubles) for the night, and a top-shot demanded 10000 Rubles.
They will ask you if you have been in that club before. Answer "yes, a few times" even if it is your first night there. You will avoid some bullshit. Russians like rules. Ask the girls for their rules.
It is important that you precisely define and agree the business wih the girl. A few things to think about: total time, how much times, anal yes/no (usually no for club girls), kissing.
The girls are seasoned businesswoman and will lie to you in every possible way, except on what you clearly agree with them. If the answer isn't clear, ask the question again until you get a clear answer. If they get irritated during the discussion, leave them alone.
BTW, avoid the club-taxis that cost 500 rubles!
A couple of general remarks:
- a phone conversation with an unmotivated girl, salon or other russian is trudna if your russian isn't very good. Get someone to help you, like a dobre taxist who knows his way around.
- show the girl who is the boss: a situation where you can demonstrate you dominance on a third person is useful, even if it is only shouting on your taxist. I pre-arranged that with the taxist, worked like a charm. If you don't pre-arrange, he will probably know what you are trying to do.
A few days ago I posted a message on the board about what to do, where to go and how much to spend in Moscow.
A few answers (thank you guys) and my enthousiasm was a little bit down.
From the feed backs I got I had 2 options: find a Tochka (it seemed dangerous, complicated, long, expensive for an unknown result.) or call a girl from internet or wherever and spend a lot of money (prices told were going from 200 to 1000 euros for the hour! ).

On the first night I called maybe 80 of the girls on http://www.rusdosug.com/ and none of them was speaking a single word of English, only Russian. I got hanged up several times.
I called several call-girls agencies and none of them was able to send me a real picture of the girl before any meeting and of course I had the feeling they were all fake or photoshopped. Never mind, I ordered one beautiful girl dark black hair (a 8+ or 9), 178m and 60some kg, very nice no too big not too small tits, piercing in the belly. For 11pm and 300 usd the hour.
Finally at 1 15am a girl knocked on my door: blond, 160m max with a rating of 4 to 5). I said NO but had to pay 1500 rubbles for her taxi. Rippppp offffff!

Remember that Russian long distance train and air tickets can't be issued abroad (I mean outside the former CCCP) because of two main reasons:
a) they are in cyrillic... even the international airport codes! Some small airport in Russia have no IATA code, only I suppose ICAO one with four letters.
b) there is your passport number on your travel document and it will be screened with your passport when you get on the train or in the airport.
It's not possible to get a proper travel document (ticket) without the number, sometimes you can get a voucher from a big touristing agency and then change it to a proper ticket when you show up your passport....

These reports are very depressing in terms of prices. But that is what I expeced. I tried to find a Czech girl calling places and got hung up on all the time. I checked out NF between 10:30 and 11:30 on Friday after the pelting rain had abated somewhat. My conclusion is that it is rapidly going downhill. Hi, exchange rates are not too different within the town. The difference between the highest and the lowest rate is hardly 50 rubles per 100$. Choose the nearest office. If you see several within walking distance compare the rates. There is usually no commision for exchange. In Tverskaya near "Zara" shop there is exchange office with a machine (100meters in the direction outside the center, same side of the road). In a machine rate is usually better. But don't go there on purpose, transport will cost more, this is just the hint in case you happen to walk around.
Calling cards are sold everywhere, you just need a passport and about 10-15$ to buy one.
Metro tickets are available on each metro station. Tickets can be for one trip, for 2, for 5, 10, month, 3 months. Depends how much you plan to move. The worst rates for exchange are in the major hotels or at the airport. Anywhere in the center or near a metro station you'll find exchange offices, for either dollars or euros.
Buy at least a 10-ride metro ticket. Having to buy one when you are in a hurry and waiting in line for 10 minutes during busy times is annoying.
Don't count on the metro stations being labeled in English writing, they aren't. Some of the metro stations have a map that does have both languages however, but again not all. Same goes for street signs. Bilingual street signs are being introduced, but they aren't everywhere.

Exchange rates also vary by time of day. The best time to exchange money is on a weekday, during banking hours. This is the time of maximum competition for everyone, so the rates are the lowest. After the banks close, the private kiosks raise (or lower, depending on your point of view) their rates. Worst time of all is on the weekend. Fewer Kiosks are open, so the ones who are, can set their rates as they please. Best to have your cash for the weekend by Friday afternoon.
It is possible to find better rates outside of the Metro ring. Not much, maybe 100 or 200r per $100. It's not worth making the trip out there just for that reason, but, if you happen to find yourself there, take advantage of it. With the extra rubles, you can buy a Metro ticket.

Being such a lurker for some time, I first want to express my gratitude to all members of this board for sharing their experiences. It helped me a lot making my first stay in Moscow a great success.
For many first timers Moscow can be an intimidating experience. Especially when you travel alone, security issues may arise when entering girl apartments on your own, walking home alone at night or even crossing the road. It turned out that Moscow is a city that has to be consumed carefully in small quantities, otherwise it will devour you. My plane had a 5 hours delay. Should have landed at 16:00 but it became 21:00. It took me almost 2 hours of lineup to pass customs. At 23:00 I finally entered Russian territory and was collected by an extremely annoyed driver who took me to the hotel (another hour). Too late to start anything so I went to sleep.
First night: do it yourself
Social program the next day. Another morning/afternoon lost. Finally, in the early evening I could sneak out and do some first explorations. I bought a 10 ride metro ticket took the metro and got out at an arbitrary station. There was a very modern looking shopping center and an apteka (pharmacy). Following the advice of this board I went inside and bought a package of 4 Cialis 20 mg tablets for 2700 rubles. No questions asked (by the way, this is 300 rubles cheaper than at Shermetevo airport where they charge 3000 rubles).

Some lessons learned
I agree with Bizoh (July 14 2007 post) to have a backup plan because any situation can change any moment (as everything in Russia). In any case: relax, improvise and fall back on plan B. It’s just the way that things work here and part of the charm. And remember, the reward of improvising might be that you meet real girls you never find elsewhere.

It must be the time of year, or maybe this is just Moscow, but here is my experience from a few days mongering in the Russian capital. Note that I was in the city for longer than the two days mentioned here, but could not break loose from a fairly conservative group to do anything. Very frustrating, particularly if you catch the metro too often!
This opportunity came about from the Boarhouse – which I thought has improved since my last non-monger visit there in February (in both quality and quantity).

Just to make sure we're talking about the same shtanga, I'm talking about the one near Belloruskaya metro. Address is 2-й Лесной пер., no 4/6, complex 1. If I remember correct it's flat number 29, but people usually call before turning up. It's not one of those places you can walk in unexpected.
From what I remember you take Lesnaya Ul. from Belloruskaya square and walk left into 2nd Lesnoy Per. right after Holiday Inn. Then you walk about 30-50 metres and take a right into a passageway, then left and left again you will see the door. Press the number and you are in, but make sure you call them first. Maybe I was just lucky, but when I called the woman spoke English. Maybe she was just having a busy day and couldn't be bothered to answer in your language. Who knows!

Once you found the building something like “ Ya ulitsa & say street name” or for me Americanyet ulitsa and they will come out to the street to find you. Helps if you can say the numbers. Done this many times.
Or do not be shy to stop people in the street and ask your help. Ask “Projosta” and hand the cell to someone you have asked for help so they can receive directions and point you the right way. Pick someone who cannot run away with your mobile. They do not know you are trying to find a *****house.

1) Working girls won't care about your language if the price is right. Some working girls speak some English, most don't. The percentage of English-speaking girls is higher in the pickup bars like Night Flight or in the classifieds in English-language papers like the Moscow Times. The percentage goes down considerably in the salons and internet girls.
Non-pro freebie type girls speak English if they like you, if they don't like you they'll suddenly forget all the English they had in school.
2) Hotel policy is just that, hotel policy. Western hotels generally let you take guests in with no additional fee... she may have to register at the desk. Believe me, they see "guests" every single night. It's nothing strange. Your shame will be gone as soon as you are in your room. :) She'll need her passport. Russian hotels are more strict on allowing guests, especially at night. You may have to register her at the desk and pay an extra fee. Maybe bribing the guard will do the trick, but its no guarantee. If your budget allows, stay at a western hotel. A nice one is "Petr 1". You can find it on www.hrs.com for about 160-200 euro/night. Trust me, that's cheap for central Moscow, and its right in the very center, about 3 minutes walk from Karma Bar.
3) Internet girls (rosdug etc.) are notoriously poor in English. They may just hang up on you. Sorry, but that's the way it is. Hiring an interpreter would help for sure. There is a guy that does that sort of thing, I think www.moscowdreamnights.com or something like that. He's refered to in the forum, have a look.
4) central Moscow is safe, but do as Helena says and keep your passport and wits about you. After you arrive in Moscow you'll realize how stupid it is to think central Moscow is dangerous. The only worry you'll have is the cops and your bank account.
By the way, Helena speaks English just fine... :)

I can't guarantee that all the pictures on the mentioned sites are real, but any of them are. As for girls doing hotel service or outcall (выезд), it's true that many don't. I am not sure if this is a product of laziness or fear. In any case, it's easier for them to operate from home or an apartment set up for the work.

The strip club scene is hit or miss. Dolls, on Krasnoprenskaya is a complete rip off. The girls quote $100 for a private dance (2 songs). Ridiculous and when I was there the girls weren't that hot. Honestly, if you are at all serious about sex in Russia learn at least the cyrillic alphabet and learn some basic terms. The "znakomstva.nu" site is really easy to navigate, they are using very simple words.

Fantasy's and Charmel are owned/operated by a single firm, and they have a third salon called Elite TV (http://www.elit.tv/) Someone already mentioned where Fantasy's is, but Charmel is not far from it, near Arbat on Nikitsky Bulvar. Result? Minting fewer new Russian millionaires and billionaires (and surely many of those must be houses of cards) and leaving more starving dyevs for the rest of us...
