You are in luck today as I just got back to Singapore from Batam last weekend. All the reviews online are outdated hence a new review would help you out. If you are in SG I'll be heading back this weekend to spend some more time there.

I hopped a ferry last Friday with an upgrade to business class using Horizon fast ferry. 48 return plus an extra 10 each way for business. This is defensively recommended. The whole immigration and boarding is so simple and easy so I arrived in Batam fresh and ready to go. I hopped a cab and paid 50 k for my 2 kilometre trip to Harmoni hotel. Some people say that you should only pay 20 k for the taxi but for 5 dollars all up who really cares.

After I checked in I walked straight out into chilli bar and had myself a few beers. SAN mig light goes for 3. 50 each and if you buy 4 you get the 5th free. The bar was full of girls and a lady drink will cost around 5-7 dollars depending on the bar. The girls aren't amazing like LOS or PI but it was fun regardless. Unfortunately there is no more gogo there so it's only regular bars however still great fun. A few out of the way bars had some really cute girls who will cost around 40 for barfine and 100ST Negotiated.What's your opinion of Harmoni. Yeah I know its got a good location but esp bfast & noise at night.

Also 40/100 are we talking US dollars or Sing dollars? My research says 500 IR ST and around 1 mill LT?

Appreciate from fellow Aussie.Harmoni has two properties. The one where NoName is located is called Harmoni Hotel and thsi is one of the best places to stay IMHO. Rooms are clean and spacious and it is close to everything of relevance. You really need not worry about the noise. There is practically none.

The bars AC has mentioned are all in NED, but IMHO the women there are well past their shelf life. Perhaps OK to have a couple of drinks with and fool around in the bar, but I would never bring one back unless I am [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) drunk. I am not putting AC down, just sharing my perspective on the women in these bars. A few bars have gone the Chinese way where women sing on stage and bar patrons dole out money to waiters for paper garlands for these girls. What a sham.

Its all in a grid of 2 x 2 streets. So you will be able to take a quick walk around and survey all the bars within an hour before you decide to settle into one for a drink. Feel free to enter, look around and walk out right back in case do do not see anything you fancy. See the pic. It is an old map of NED but it helps you get the drift

There is another property by the name Harmoni Suites which is further South on the same road, and this is pretty decent too, but not close to NED. The other hotel (my favorite) that is strategically located like Harmoni is Goodway. But it is a much older property in comparison. Still some upper category rooms are quite nice.

Don't compare Orchard towers to Batam. 60 dollar ladies drinks to 7 dollars it's an easy choice. The vibe is also excellent in Batam just the same feeling I get every time in Pattaya or Angeles.

So that weekend of 01 June that you are planning might turn out to be a complete non-starter.Ramadan is a special time of the year to visit Batam. If it's your first time to Batam, AVOID. You'd be disappointed and you'd waste most of your time.

Is Ramadan in Batam really a "NO-NO, NEVER"? Not really. It can be a good time, but you must know how to move around, how to avoid pitfalls, exploit opportunities. Less people around may mean also more gaps to fill.

Yes, dated a few years back, but I have been there 2 times since last December and honestly not much has changed (except that NoName now is almost dead). The environment is still the same. I did not stop visiting Batam, but I stopped writing those long reports in "adventure style", as it is extremely time-consuming and I am not sure why should I. It is fun to read my reports after 5 years, yes.

Would you expect to do the same as I reported? NO. Not necessarily. YMMV. First thing that may help is to speak some bahasa. Then gathering experience. Your 5th visit will be incomparably more successful than your first one.

Still some upper category rooms are quite nice.One should not be discouraged by the distance from Harmoni Suites to the NED, if really the NED is the place one would want to spend time in while in Batam. I don't. I hate the NED.

Years ago it could have been a problem, but today with Google Maps it's impossible to get lost. You don't have a local SIM card to get Internet access in Batam? TOO BAD. Internet is NECESSARY, if not for Google Maps at least to stay in touch 24/24 with the local girls (after few days, you'll have your 2-3 good ones, plus occasional time-wasting ones). Today, everyone has WhatsApp or Messenger. Only the poorest ones do not have a smart phone. Some has a GSM, so be prepared to have a local SIM card also to call or SMS them.
However, even without Internet access, you can download in advance an offline map and you'll be set (except that offline Maps cannot compute the shortest walk path).

From Harmoni Suites to Kampung Bule (the NED) it may be 10 minutes walking. At night it's not even hot. If you don't want to walk, take an ojek. 15 k includes a tip.

Harmoni Suites is in front of the Windsor food court, a good place to eat and chat with beer girls. A cheaper but good hotel there is the Vienna.

Best hotel is maybe I-Hotel. One is behind Nagoya Hill, another in Penuin (10 minutes walk from Harmoni Suites, 20 from NED, but better take an ojek, as the road is dusty).

I-Hotel Penuin hosts SQUARE, the highest-class disco-bar in Batam, the top night destination in Batam nowadays. The high-society goes there. I never had good chance there, as the local girls go there with their VERY HANDSOME boyfriends, and in general are not interested to flirt with white foreigners. I regret the old times of NoName. There are some PRs working there, very elegant and good looking, but they expect lots of money, if they accept to follow you to hotel (even 1 M-2 M, and not overnight).

If you have many days to spend in Batam, and if you don't speak any bahasa, I think it's the only place where you could go at night. All the expats living in Batam go there (mainly Aussies).

Beers are cheap, even if offered to girls. So, don't worry. Just ask the price before, to avoid surprises (maybe they could smell the newbie to exploit).

My places at night are exclusively pubs like Square and NoName, and if I don't meet anyone special (100% of the times on my last two stays, that is I met only veteran PR who WORK there, or local girls who are not interested to flirt with foreigners), I go straight to P3 or P2 (Newton) discos. Discos are NOT for the first-timer.

I received some questions from a senior ISG member, who has posted quite a bit here. I thought to share my response in public, as it may be useful to others too.


1. In one post you have mentioned that during the Ramadan month booking joints open only at 9pm. Is this right? In which case does the girl come immediately or much later? I am more used to the model where one does the booking around 2pm and then taxi driver brings her around by 8pm to the hotel. See the links to my Ramadan posts. During Ramadan some booking joints open at night (I am not sure anymore about 9 pm, I'd try 7 pm) or are accessible via the backdoor. If you know the place, see if someone is sitting in front of the closed door (tutup).

However, it is likely that many girls will be fasting during daytime. YMMV.

Your model is not what I have seen in Batam. If you go at 2pm (which is the best time, as most girl have just started to work, after the night before spent in someone's bed), and if you book the girl at that time, the girl is expected to stay with you FROM THAT TIME TILL NEXT MORNING. Too boring for me. However, you can agree with the mami to send the girl to your hotel at the time you prefer, even at 8pm.


2. I have read that Permata Indah has shut down permanently. What a shame. So it is Sedona I should go to as the best option for a 2 day trip? Any other notable recommendations?Sedona is the most reliable. I did not visit it on my last two times. I hope it's still up and running. Happy8 is always a resource, it's also 5 minutes walking from Formosa. See Nono's list on SB, or take an ojek and ask him to take you around to make a tour. Also Bunga is worth a visit, but known to be expensive (not sure if quality is worth the price).


3. I am conscious that a lot of regulars might do advance phone bookings with the OKT, so pickings might be slim. Any tips to avoid disappointment?No tip, if not "develop your instinct".

I am not used to book girls from those joints. Only short time, because I really get bored with a girl in my room for all the day and night (even if such a girl would be just a DREAM when I am in my home country). I prefer to be free as a bird, have a short time if I am really horny daytime, and go to disco to see what Destiny gives me. I don't get back to room with a girl before 4 am.

For ST, besides the standard booking joints, you might consider the spas (Delta, Octopus, Atalanta.) and the low-end massage places in Utama area.


4. I used to love the discos in Batam. I hear Pacific is shut for renovation and NoName is pretty sad during this time, although I read a report where you trusted the hotel staff and missed out on some hotties.I am not sure what report you are citing. I don't remember. Pacific is closed, and will stay closed a long time (a girl told me because someone was stabbed after a fight in the JAckpot).

Presently, the only discos to go are Planet 3 and Planet 2 (A. K. A. Newton). Avoid Planet 1.

NoName is my major disappointment. Empty, and even on Saturday no girls who were not local PRs or veteran bar girls.


5. Any day time options other than WeChat / Tinder / Badoo? I guess most massage places will offer extras if I ask, but I really do not like the atmosphere inside a massage parlor, unless it is top end stuff. Also if there is any clean good massage place I would appreciate your input.WeChat is not advisable for the first-timer. Most girls do not look like the photos, in some cases they are not FL, but some papi is dispatching girls and send the girl he wants. Be sure to NOT wait the girl in your room. Set an appointment at cafe. If she's a professional who works for ST she will not accept. NEVER wait in the room! You never know who is coming. It could be even a ladyboy, in the worst case.
I am usually overwhelmed by messages on wechat, but I am used to ignore.

If you want massage with extras, and IF YOU HAVE MANY DAYS on site, try the Utama area for the cheap ones. Some good girls work there, but you cannot choose from a book. They will send you a girl and, if you like her, you can ask her some extras during massage. Places are mostly run down, yet not dirty holes.

Try Octopus or Atalanta. Ask for the PAKET (package) which means full service. Be sure to talk with the GRO (they all speak English). Total damage at Octopus for a Gold or Platinum girl category is nearly 1 M. You'll get good massage and sex, but don't expect anything that is not codified in the procedure. (even CBJ).

Prices vary in a wide interval, from 400k to 2,000,000 and more. It depends on who is the girl, who is the punter, where the meeting happen. The prices I reported in my reports did not change much.
(If you find an old report of mine of about 8 years ago, actually you'll see that to be exact there was a street, but nothing worth to be seen).

Hi all, its been quite a while. I was in Batam for two days last week, from some of the info here I went to Thai Odyssey massage opposite the Shopping centre Nagoya Hill. Then went by cab to my hotel "Harmoni Suites" nice place. We had shower and did one round including BBBJ. I was tired and so was she so I said lets sleep we are tired and she agreed, she hugged me all night while we slept, morning she woke up had a shower and started another round, was really good. I asked her how much and she said Don't know la, you give, I gave her 500,000 and she was very thankful, then she took me to the local restaurant for breakfast, nice local meal very nice. Firstly shout out to Black Page who helped clarify some questions I had about mongering in Batam during the Ramadan month. Very useful tips.

I got there on Saturday by 12:30 pm, took a taxi to Goodway and checked-in. My pal from Jakarta (who is not on this board) had also flown in couple of hours earlier. Around 1. 30 pm I called a taxi driver I have used in the past and got him to run us past a couple of booking houses.

Got around to Sedona first. Everything is shut since its Ramadan, but the driver knew exactly what to do. He went around the back door and spoke to a couple of guys hanging around there. The next minute we were inside Sedona, which had around 20 girls, a few in their early 20's but most in the late 20's or early 30's from my estimate. Nothing caught my fancy, but my pal picked a girl. Paid up 1. 2 million and told the mamasan to send the girl with the driver later at a pre-appointed time in the evening.

Next stop Bunga. Here there were fewer girls. However, I found what I was looking for. A very cute spinner named Lisa. Paid 1. 5 million here. I had prior information about Bunga being more expensive. And I am OK with that. Same instruction as above to the mamsan.

Possibly this would be a same old same old, but it's a fresh report nonetheless. And a couple of worthwhile things to report.

This Thursday, I took a ferry from SG and reached Batam at noon. My regular driver was waiting at the terminal and he quickly took me to Harmoni. The room I had booked was not ready so the hotel staff offered me a complimentary lunch. However, I was not hungry so I stepped out and asked the driver to take me to the forex shops so I could get some USD exchanged. 13,900 to the dollar, not bad. Stopped at an Indomart and picked up some regular supplies and headed back to the hotel. This time the room was ready. Checked in, took a shower and drank a bit of the whisky I picked up from the DFS.

At around 2 pm I asked the driver to take me to a couple of booking houses. First stop at Sedona. Nothing but dregs. Next stop Happy8. Possibly the best range I have seen at a massage shop. More than 20 girls available, most of them in late 20's to early 30's (at least from their appearance). I called the Mami and gave her my specs. She pointed to 4 girls. I picked one of them, the one I thought was the cutest of all – Melani. Handed over 1 mn to mami, took the girl and returned to the hotel. Round two can be called a success as this time she was game for everything. I can't remember when I slept but I woke only at 9 am the next morning (Friday). Morning wood serviced, I sent Melani away by 10.30 am with a 100 K tip.

I had some work to finish so I spent the next few hours on my laptop and before I knew it was 2 pm. Went over to Sedona again. The papi asked me what I was looking for. I told him my requirements and also mentioned to him that the stock at Sedona was really bad lately. He then showed me a pic of a girl on his phone and said she is a new girl who had started only last week but is selective about customers. And this girl Winda looked gorgeous. For next times, you still have to explore at least the scenes;.

A) With girls met in diisco / pub, which you retain as friends and on your wechat / whatsapp, and come with you for dinner alone or accompanied.
Sometimes the friends they bring just want a free dinner (Who cares? It's so cheap. Enjoy!)
Sometimes they may be up to something. I had 3some with couples of friends several times, but it's something to achieve with patience and perseverance.
In the worst case, after dinner and a drink at pub you can leave them and go to disco alone, where action is after 2 am.

B) The girls in disco. This is the hardest, but worth to explore.

I have been used to organize a business trip to KL or SIN from Europe nearly PURPOSELY to go to Batam after, or having in mind since the beginning that the highlight (or real goal in my mind) of the overall trip would be the stay in Batam after the business meetings. And, after the first times when I was used to stay 3-4 days there, now I plan a FULL WEEK there. Every day can bring something, and I feel really well there.

When I am in KL, I enjoy the Viet, but I just look forward to get the real Gold: sweet brown sugar in Batam. KL is expensive, and it's also hard to dig real gems in BC or other clubs. In Batam I feel like a fish in a pond full of sweet shrimps to taste.

For barbecue, I would recommend to stay in Nagoya. Plenty of barbecue stalls under the mosque in front of Nagoya Hill. The fish is amazingly fresh, and they cook it well.
Aneka Selera and other major seafood restaurants are Indo-CHINESE. Choose some Chinese cooking style, like steam or fried and you'll love it.

It seems you did not read my reports? I am not claiming one MUST read my reports, but considered your interest for Batam (purely theoretical so far) I am surprised.

Many of my reports (reporting less than 50% of trips to Batam) are linked under the RoD. Easy to find them, linked and ordered.
They are useful to have an idea of what is possible to do in Batam, but not of what a newbie can likely do in Batam. Actually, the first time one is likely to be disappointed.

I nearly NEVER go to booking joints. Not my cup of tea. I did that a few times, and I always regretted. Once I have a girl in my room, I fuck once, then what? Talk? Watch TV? The few times I did that, I found myself nervous because imagining the activities and nightlife happening at the same time in pubs and discos, while I was locked in the room.

Most times, I sent the girl back right after dinner, to be free to go to disco and find new adventures.

Certainly, you should be aware that the place is not dangerous, but just full of "smart" people waiting for passive first-time tourists just "willing" to be exploited. Be an easy prey, and you'll be eaten.

First rule, don't be an easy prey.

Second rule, keep expectations low, and be ready to pick opportunities. Good things are not always at hand. One needs persistence, determination, intelligence, ability to move around, independence skills, 6th sense to identify good opportunities, good luck and moral strength to not care about bad luck. One must expect to have fails, to get also success.

I always repeated that I don't recommend Batam to anyone. First time, most likely the average Western monger will be bored and disappointed, because he does not know where to go, how to move around, how to manage things. Plus, this is not like Thailand or Singapore, where one goes to a house, pays, then gets 100% good service guaranteed. Here everything is more tricky, less plastic and sanitized, more exciting for me, but also unpredictable.

My first time, I booked girls as you, and as you I was disappointed in some case and also happy in some other. Now, I don't book girls, because I am not interested to have a stranger girl occupying my bed.

Don't venture alone to a disco until you are familiar with the place. If an ojek driver can spot you as someone suitable for the bullshit "This is a dangerous place. I have 3 good news. The first two are good just for me. The third for everyone interested to go to Batam.

1) I will be back on site in October. My mouth is watering already. Stay tuned.

2) My Formosa Membership Card is now Silver. Quite an achievement for someone who lives 10,000 km away! Ok, not the same as SPG Elite, but I feel proud. The good news is that I achieved my first free night with points. In October my bill will be lighter.

I see you have asked the same question on SB, and there you got more or less the same response I gave you, that is "If i were to reply to your exact question word by word,my answer would be "there is NO men's spa" near BCS". However, Mr. Nono (a real expert, as he goes there every 1-2 months from Singapore) also pointed you to New Spa and Fame Spa, this mentioned as a new location, very expensive and quite far away. An update for all those who plan to come to Batam and need a SIM card.

The lengthy procedure for registering SIM cards In Indonesia, mandatory for using them without any grace period, is still in place (see my previous posts for details). When you buy a new SIM card, you MUST register it, providing your Indonesian ID number or Passport number if you are foreigner, or the SIM card cannot be activated. I asked several people in various shops, and all confirmed me the same.

In the next lines, I will focus on Simpati cards, as they are the most widely used and maybe also the best performing.


1) Those who have an Indo ID (NIK, NOKK) can register sending a message: "UNTUK REGISTRASI SILAHKAN KETIK *444*NIK*NOKK#".

An employee at the TelKomSel Service Center told me that this can done also by a foreigner, sending the passport number instead of the NIK, but I doubt it may work. Should it really work, it would mean that the system accepts a registration giving any random number, as I doubt the system can check the existance and regularity of a passport number of foreign countries.
I did not try this simple way, and later I will explain why.


2) Those foreigners who do not have an Indo ID can register ONLY going to a Grapari Service Center of TelKomSel Customer Care. There is one at Nagoya Hill, another one at Penuin, at Batam Center, etc.

Assuming the *444* message cannot work with a foreign country passport, there is no other service center other than Grapari which can register the card under a foreign passport number. The shops cannot, even the big ones, not to say the small kiosks.

This is pissing off enough, and that is the same situation I reported in May 2018, but there's a good news now. The INDONESIA BOLEH Task Force has developed suitable antibodies. :D

The Good News

Many small shops are now selling pre-registered SIM cards. All such shops include all those small counters recently opened at the Harbour Bay arrival lounge, which you see right after the immigration and security screening, and a few ones at Lucky Plaza.

I tried to understand what are those pre-registered SIM cards, and under what name are they registered, but I received only Indonesian-style smiles back. Someone tried to say "It's TelkomSel which preregister cards", but of course it could not be exactly that, as the reason of imposing registration was to associate each card to a precise physical person, for security purposes. I think someone is pre-registering cards using random NIK-NOKK numbers.

This is a BIG RELIEF for all those like me, who visit Indonesia for few days, and would be not really happy to have to spend 1-2 hours, after buying the SIM card, to reach a Grapari point and queue just for this burocratic requirement.

At Harbour Bay Arrival right after Immigration, I chose the counter with the nicest smiling girl (a business criterion as others).
I found the pre-registered Simpati cards for 4G LTE data access sold for 150k (9 GB one month) or 120k (6 GB). I bought the second, without inquiring other shops to find a better offer because I was in hurry. Being in hurry made me probably miss the best deal, but I really had no time to spend to save 20k
Also SIM cards of other operators are on sale, cheaper down up to 50k for 3G access, but I preferred to opt for the best. I tried the speed transfer and I achieved 20 Mb/s via my mobile wifi router.
A signage on top of the glass showcase of another counter advertises cards with 3GB data for Rp 80k (I don't remember what Operator).

The shop at Harbour Bay was not sellng cheaper SIM cards for phone calls. I went to Lucky Plaza, where after few inquiries I found a shop selling pre-registered Simpati cards for phone calls (the "pre-registered" feature is the key feature and is not offered everywhere). I could choose between cards costing 75k including 10k of balance, but not pre-registered, and pre-registered cards costing 75k but with 0 balance. I bought this one and I added 20k balance (plus 2k service charge, total 97k).

I don't understand what you mean with "questionable" and "discrete". What is not discrete in buying a SIM card in Batam, and register it or not? I am perplexed.

By the way, your passport is stamped every time you cross the border. So, if you want to keep your travels to Batam hidden to your most significant one, having a Simpati card in the wallet is the least and last of your problems.

Finally, last time I was in Singapore for a week I bought a Starhub card. Once I activated it for roaming, I discovered I had only 2 GB (enough in most cases, but less than the 6 GB I have on the Simpati card), and most important it did not work anymore once I returned to Singapore. It seemed a one-way step.

My advice is to simply spend those Rp 120k (12 SGD, or 8 USD), buy a pre-registered Simpati card including 6 GB of data on 4G LTE, and enjoy 20 Mbps without hassle.

Yesterday I had the pleasure to experience de visu the Indonesian Police in action.

Just 30 minutes after I entered Foreplay in Kampung Bule, and I just started sipping a glass of orange juice with a drop of vodka, a huge anti-narcotics Police task force entered the premises to do drug tests and check people.

Of course, this is not Texas and policemen are not like in USA. So, instead of putting everyone against the wall with hands raised, pointing automatic rifles against the chest of the slower ones, everything was much smoother. No cowboys, neither emulators of Joseph Arpaio here, but just Indonesian-style smiles. You know, the same face you get regardless you are complaining for something or giving kudos for service in a hotel.

The main Officer stepped on the stage, stopped the band, and asked kindly to switch on lights ("lampu, lampu tolong"). I did not notice that before then, but about 20 policemen with and without uniform had already entered the room and were filling up all sides.

Then, other policemen armed with professional photocameras and cellphones started to videorecord all the procedure and to take photos of the people.

I guess today my face with all others must be posted on local newspapers and must have been already broadcasted on local TV News, as an evidence of how seriously Batam Police fights drugs here*.
A girl next to me was scared as hell, fearing her face was going to be seen by her parents at home.

My report of last Saturnight night, supposedly the best night to score freebies in Batam clubs. Unfortunately, the times have changed.

One thing is that there seems to be more money circulating around, or at least the middle and upper class have expanded, while the lower strata are still struggling in misery.
Therefore, consistently over all my last visits to Batam, I have seen less ladies (above some social level) hunting for a supposedly rich foreigner in clubs of kampung bule (basically, there only No Name and Foreplay qualify for that, as the others are mostly places where to play billiard and drink with PR ladies).

A second thing is that it is not so good as years ago, when me "average white foreigner" had virtually no limits in scoring a sexy girl in a club or even in a mall. My Western face and nose were enough to make ladies to feel flattered by my smile to them. Now, too many Western men have spoiled the place already, including those who did not leave a good memory of their education and manners, so to speak.
A striking consequence is that, if years ago I could approach any girl in a disco and get at least a smile and handshake back, now more than half of them turn the face to the other side (I am speaking about disco, not pub).

So, yesterday Saturday (I wrote these notes few days ago) I went to No Name, previously the highest highlight of Batam's Saturday night fever. Years ago, at 1am it was so packed to have problems in choosing a stunning girl among many. Yesterday, it was just 50% full, and all ladies were old-seasoned PRs, who go there every night for months in a row if not years. Not even so sexy, just average bar girls. I recognize some faces as I have seen them at least 1 if not 2 years ago there already.

You must go there at least once on a Saturday. It is instructive indeed. There is some rich people in Batam, but you will not see them if you stick to Nagoya malls, clubs, kampung bule, etc.
Parking: full of new shiny cars.
Entry cover ticket: rp 200k per person (yes, 200,000), including one BINTANG BEER as "free drink" (in can, I had to request two glasses otherwise I would have not got that). Yes, the same Bintang beer that is the cheapest drink offered in a disco or billiard bar.
Maybe the 200k is not for every Saturday, maybe the DJ was a famous one from Jakarta, who knows. However, this is the most expensive cover charge I saw in Batam.

So, too late to show me stingy in front of the lady, I had to pay this 2x200k = 400k for me and the lady.
Inside: FULL. I mean packed. Impossible to find place if not pressed from all sides. Everyone paying the 200k cover charge, plus bottles and cocktails in quantity. The average spending there is above 500k per person, I believe.

Some Western men, but very few. 95% of people were local upper-class youth.
Jeez!! If you want to see and get to know what is a sexy Indonesian, go there.
There is NO OTHER PLACE IN BATAM (I am sure in JKT it's a different story) where you can see how sexy Indonesian can be. Long dress, high heels, regrettably short pants under the dress instead of a sexy slip as in Europe, perfectly arranged make-up and hair. I was mesmerized.

Was in Batam over the weekend, and thought some might find my experiences of some help.

I arrived on the Saturday morning and was staying at the Harmoni suites. Was planning to take the easy option and hit some booking joints and try and find a cutie. I knew things would be tougher being a Saturday and many girls being pre-booked, but I started relatively early (2 pm) and went on a tour of a number of places. First I tried what (I assume) was Sedona. I couldn't see any sign, but my driver told me it was Sedona and was behind the Batam Star hotel. It has a Karaoke attached to it. The lineup there was pretty atrocious, maybe 10 or 12 girls, honestly the best was a 4/10.

I then told my driver to take me around the short list that I'd prepared from this site. First went to Happy8. I saw one girl there that had a body of 7+, but face of a 4. 5. Great body though so thought to myself I will come back for her if the other places do not produce. After this tried Sri Kandy (very few girls left, nothing above a 5), Bunga (highest number of girls. Nearly took one from here but figured the girl from Happy8 was slightly hotter and more smiley). There I find her with my wallet in her hands and half the cash out already! I'd been in the bathroom for like 15 seconds max to flick on the shower so she must be as quick as a damn mongoose to get the wallet out of my shorts and have the cash out already. She obviously got shocked when I came out so she dropped the wallet and cash on the floor. She's quite lucky at this point that I'm generally quite chilled, other guys would have handled the situation differently I'm sure. I know this kind of stuff happens, but was a first time for me in 15+ years of mongering all over the world. She then grabs her bag and walks out of the room. Obviously we both know there's no chance to salvage a good session from this. By this time she's been in my room maybe 20 minutes total.

I see her as I'm walking out through the lobby and tell her I'm going to go back to her work and speak to her boss to try and get this resolved. The cash I paid him is not a material amount, but it's the principle of the matter now as my Saturday night is likely ruined. So I head back to Morena 30 and speak to the guy behind the desk. At first this guy plays dumb / pretends to speak no English, then he makes a phone call and I wait 10 minutes or so for another guy to appear. This guy's English is fine, but he's a bigger criminal than his thief of an employee. He just stands there with a shit eating grin on his face saying 'oh no sir. The girl say you finish with her two shots and it is 700 k per shot so there's your 1. 4 m gone'. From when I took her to when I returned is probably 45 minutes. 20 minutes in the room. Never touched her and she never undressed. I said to him what you think I'm superman I can finish 2 shots in 20 minutes? He knows its bullshit, my driver who has come back in with me knows its bullshit, but Morena (I assume) manager is just sat there with a smug grim effectively saying 'too bad Bule'. Few times in my life have I been as tempted to smack someone in the face. But I was sober and assumed the law would not be on my side if I did. In the end after 45 minutes of back and forth with the guy I left. Lesson learnt. Batam is surely a snake pit, and Morena 30 is the worst of it. So go there if you want to get robbed by the staff and the management. In some later google research I discover that Morena as well as the MM place that my driver took me to are on a 'blacklist' on another (albeit quite old) mongering website post, so I'm not the first.

I decide to give up on the girls for Saturday and go for a good feed at Barelang seafood instead.

Sunday morning go for an early regular massage, then decide to try my luck at the booking houses again (obviously avoiding the thieves at Morena 30 this time! Went a bit earlier to see if that helped. Reached Sedona by 1 pm, literally 5 girls in there, nothing above a 4 again. Quickly left. Second stop was Bunga. Again. Large number of girls, pricing was 1 m or 1. 3 m for the range depending on who you picked. Took a Balinese girl for 1. 3 m. Face a 7, body probably a 5. 5 but couldn't see this until I got her back. Enthusiasm / attitude was an 8 though. Had a good session, went out for dinner, then another good session, then let her go with a tip. Was heading back on an early ferry on the Monday so that was the end of my exploits for the trip.

So that was a wrap on my first Batam mongering expedition. Sure I made a couple of mistakes, but my impression mirrors that of some other posters on this board. The place (if it was once good) is at least, in my opinion, now shit. The best girls I saw after visiting all of the places over those two days were of a standard you would not even look at in say Jakarta or even KL. Of course I know this is not Jakarta, but if you are Singapore based, my opinion is you should just spend a little bit more and play there. The girls will be hotter, you are less likely to get hustled, and the law is more likely to be on your side if you do. Plus, Batam itself is a pretty awful place.

That being said I don't like to write a place off after one tour, so who knows, may revisit in a couple of months once the sour taste of this tour is out of my mouth. Will report back if I do!

The exact same thing happened to me in Bangkok couple of years ago:

I had picked up a FL standing outside the gate of Hotel Nana (bang opposite the main entrance to Nana Plaza).
We walk back to my Hotel room for ST. I turn on the TV for her. I remove my jeans and leave it on the chair next to the desk.

I go into the shower and turn on the water. After less than 2 minutes, I walk back into the room with the towel tied around my waist. The water is still running in the shower.
I catch the girl in the act: she was holding my wallet in her hand, with my jeans still on the chair.

She mumbles sorry or something to that effect and looks very embarrassed. I gave her an angry look and point to the door. Tell her to leave before I call Hotel Security.

One called MM or something of that nature, and another called Morena 30. This was where things took a turn for the worse. "Morena" is the name of a series of pubs, short time brothels and booking joints. Whenever you see "Morena", STAY AWAY unless you have been in Batam many times and then you want to explore off track. Anyway, never consider to take a girl for more than short time, one shot on site.

Morena joints are well known because nobody ever had a good experience there. It could be that the girl has a shot, then escapes with a silly excuse and never comes back, or the worse as you reported. Don't expect any support from papi working at Morena. I think they are well used to scam or just exploit the good faith of tourists.

The only places I could recommend for booking are Sedona, Happy8, Bunga, which are more expensive, but at least have some sense of business. As you have noticed, the look of girls there varies a lot over time. This must be dry time.

To be honest, is booking the way to go in Batam? I don't think so, but it's my personal attitude. It is a long time I don't take any girl for booking. The problem is: even if the girl is a sweet brown Indo very willing to please me, what do I do with this girl in my bed after my first shot? Dinner time? After that? 99% of them do not speak English, and therefore conversation is poor. Even with English, what would be the subject of a conversation with her for 10 hours?

My strategy in the last years has been to indulge in the afternoon with some massage or short time, or just work on my things, or hunting for office ladies at malls, then have a good seafood dinner, then go for bar hopping and disco. In general, one has always to be cautious when taking girls for the night, everywhere in the world and also in Batam.
Singaporeans tend to exaggerate the risk, as they are simply NOT USED to any kind of illegal behavior. Once I read, on the Singapore Police web site, the recommendation to commuters to lock the bicycles at the MRT stations before going to work :eek:, to avoid the risk of having them stolen. Where else in the world one could EVEN THINK to leave a bicycle unlocked for an entire day at a metro station??
Batam is not South America, where we all have heard horror stories about some guy even drugged by the girl, some guy who woke up two days later without anything left in the room. However, even in Batam it is POSSIBLE to catch the girl trying to steal, as reported below.

The best is taking girls from a reputed source. With the notable exception of Morena, all booking joints are usually trustable. The girl comes and does not steal, as she is an employee of the joint and cannot disappear.

On the contrary, I recommend to be extremely cautious if you take a girl to your room for the night from a disco (remember discos are like Evil's Den in Indonesia) or even worse if you find her on WeChat. I am not saying that it is likely she is a thief or worse, but I heard some stories like the one reported in the previous post. It is POSSIBLE, still I would not say likely. Preventing is better than curing, therefore keep always all eyes open (even the third).

Years ago, I found a pretty young girl at Newton. She came to sleep with me at Formosa. I was so tired that I fell down sleeping so deeply after our workout activity, that later she was able to wake up, go to bathroom silently, refresh herself, leave me sleeping, without I could hear anything. She left me there without saying bye. I woke up later in the morning, and I found myself alone in the bed. :eek: So sad!

I checked everything, but nothing was missing. My laptop was there, my watch, my money, my wallet were there.

Heading to Batam for a quick weekend gateway from Singapore, first time there, have great experience of mongering in Jakarta / Bali / Jogyakarta etc. I am basically a no frills, get to the business kinda guy. So hoping to find a place like Classic Hotel / Hotel Travel or X houses of Bali. Basically a fishbowl / large place with big choice of girls. Pick pay. Get some action, go eat dinner and enjoy the rest of the evening kinda thing.

The booking sites are scattered all around. Near the NED, I remember only 1 or 2. There are near Newton, Utama, DC Mall.

Happy8 is maybe the most expensive, but also one of the most reliable. ST price should be 400-500. You have been probably overcharged. Prices are always negotiable.

Taxi drivers take a commission on the order of 100 k-200 k from the joint, if they take you there and you book. If you go there walking, you can point it out to the papi and ask discount. That's you will find drivers who take you around for free. They earn their money from the joint. I was used to take ojek, however.

Planet Holiday. Big rooms, big bed, big hotel. Pool was green and across major road from NED (Bars, Booking Sites, and messages).

Harmoni Hotel (not suite just hotel) - Rooms newer, right next to bars, rooms nice and good size. Walking distance to NED.

Walking around at night. No issues except every motorbike asked if I needed a ride, girls, message, anything. Even when I was standing outside booking site.

Lessons learned. Hotel staff will not protect you from getting ripped off. Taxi at planet holiday cost 200,000 just to drive me to all the booking sites I could have walked to. Also when I picked a girl went in and got his cut also. Tried to push me to book long time. I paid him after 15 minutes and went back to walking.

Rented a motorbike from hotel staff. Cost 1,000,000 for two days. Later learned from friend I could have gotten week for 200,000.

Booking sites are rooms with a few to lots of girls. Guys usually sit outside of them and urge you to enter. Happy message did not do this, they could care less if you come or go.

Happy place turned out to be the best booking. Lots of girls when open and actually closes. Girls do not pay attention and Mamason was mixed in but once I made a connection got good attention and taken care of. Short time was at a close hotel with decent room that came out of girls money. Cost was 500,000 or 600,000.

Morena or place advised against before, most other places used the rooms upstairs. They were dirty and towel looked used. Never really closed and if you go before 2 pm they will get you a girl or take to their room to look. It also had a room of girls and dancing area / bar on the other side. Service was no better or worse here.

Cost of booking did not decide quality of experience. 1 girl who was 500,000 was probably the best and she admitted to hating white foreign guys. Many did not want to do oral and if they did covered was often used.

Best experience was from the one girl I found on tinder. Later learned she also works from booking house. I agree with Black Page. Short time is better for me than long. The chase is very possible. Many girls in shops smiled and being nice went a long way. With tinder girl she sat in the room and texted on her phone. Her English was good but we are different generation so no reason to really talk about life. We had fun and she asked to come hang out a second night. Not for free, but also not at the full booking cost either. I ended up leaving her in the room a lone and she slept or played on phone till I got back. Left money sitting out till it was time to leave. Bad was she did not like to give oral or kiss, but glad I was able to trust her and she had a good sense of humor and did not try the sad story or ask for tip.

Most of the girls are not used to average size westerner but none complained out loud other than with possible fake moans but face expression showed said everything.

Overall great trip if living in Singapore but make sure you plan what to do when not hunting because there really is not much outside of golf, shopping, and hunting.

It also had a back door if you would rather not not walk through the main lobby with a quest.

Mr. Black also mentioned good information on hotels. Make sure to read as many of his post as you can.

Tinder was not all that good except the one girl. I think I matched with 4 others and the conversation went nowhere. Badoo and Bumble also work, but really I imagine most of the girls on those sites also work at booking sites. If you have the patience and can socialize then go and spend some time in a booking house chatting with the girls. Get a feel for who can connect with and who speaks English. I had some good laughs in one place. Another one of the girls really wanted me to pick her and we had a fun talk.

Man I am totally confused about Batam. So many conflicting reports. Despite the fact that a few notable ISG'ers really like Batam, it has not caught on as a monger's paradise and it never will for good reason. I visited Batam onetime back in 2014. I had a good time & met some nice girls, BUT I have not been back since. Why? Well to be brief, because Jakarta is infinitely better in every way that counts. So, my advice would be to first visit ALL the other worthwhile watering holes in SE Asia like CGK, SIN, MNL, AC, Phnom, Yangon, Macau, and last but not least, LOS and then check out Batam if you still want to. It's not that it is a bad place, it's just that there really isn't anything particularly noteworthy there either. It's kind of like Subic in an offbeat way, maybe a little better girl quality, but I make the comparison because in both cases there is no compelling reason to go there and you will realize it a night or two after you arrive. Then again, if you prefer to be a big fish in a small pond, Batam might be just what you are looking for. Ha Ha. Enjoy!

No conflicting reports. I have been repeating for YEARS that I love Batam, that Batam is my joy garden (YES I like to be a big fish in a small pond), but Batam is NOT SUITED for most mongers, that it is NOT a sex-tourism destination as most Western people would think such a destination should be, that most people would be disappointed at the first visit, etc. Etc. Etc. (blah blah blah). Where are the conflicting reports?
Batam needs time to understand how to move around. And you will not find sex machines like in Thailand or porn stars like some Pinays can be.
You need a few visits to learn what to do, especially what to NOT do, how to move, to learn some local bahasa Indonesia, to start to have some local girlfriends, etc.

I am going to Batam right before Ramadan, because I have a business trip to KL. I will stay in KL the minimum I have to (3 days) then I will take my bus to spend my well-deserved full week in Batam at Formosa. I cannot wait!

Just my opinion.I went to Batam and wasn't super pleased with all aspects and you can read about it a few pages back. Staying in the region full-time it is for me quite convenient to go play some golf and what not. When I got only 2 days I could spend a lot of time travelling or try to enjoy what is close. My 5 cents.

I'll be visiting SEA for the first time next month, starting with 3 days in Singapore then a day in Batam before going onto Malaysia and beyond. Nothing I can do about the dates at this point. I'll be with a "bule" friend who's never been to Asia period.

My plan was to take an early ferry so we can grab lunch and settle in our room before heading out. But of course hotels check in at 2 pm, and while I've not had problems with getting a room early in western countries, I doubt they'd be as generous in Batam. So that's the first issue.

I want to book for a night, because I'm not a wham-bam-ma'am kind of guy. I want 2-3 hours per session so I don't feel rushed. Two hours would probably suffice but I don't feel good when I feel rushed. A few people recommend against booking, instead preferring a spa for first-timers, though.

Third, will I stand out if I use my Pixel 3 on the streets of Batam? I'm so bad at directions, I'd use GPS in the heart of Manhattan. I can bring along a Moto but its SIM slot doesn't work so it's only good with WiFi.

Also, I tried looking up Gold Bird KTV and Sedona but best I get is being redirected to Grand Dragon on Google Maps. Has it changed name again?

While Harmoni Hotel is in NED, its bar / disco is supposedly dead these days. And the booking sites most people recommend seem to be down near the shopping center. Am I better off at Suites if I don't plan on hanging out at night, past midnight?

As for money, can I use SGD instead? It's worth a tad more than 10 k IGD right now, but I don't care about the difference.

BOOKING JOINT = place where you can book girls (in Batam, "booking" means hire a girl for sex overnight; I never found this word elsewhere in the world).

MASSAGE PARLOR = place where they give massage, with or without extras, in some cases also a place for ST and for LT (BO, booking).

Other places that serve as booking joint: some KTVs, some "pubs".

Batam is the one place I know that it is very difficult to find a massage place without any extras. Finding a legit massage is not that easy.

So almost every massage place you find will have extras. What kind of extras will depend. Most will come with HJ as an option or already included.

General prices for add ONS are 200-300 for HJ, and about 500 for FJ. The GQ will come usually when you turn over.

If you find yourself there at a time that you cannot find a massage place or spa open, then just head to any of the larger hotels, as they usually have inhouse massage open 24/7.

Keep in mind I have already assumed that you will be in the nagoya area. Most of everything will be in the nagoya area, if you landed in the centre, then you will need to get a ride to nagoya.

1 SGD = 10,000 IDR roughly. So when some one says 200 - 300, they mean 200,000 IDR to 300,000 IDR. Which means 20 SGD to 30 SGD.

There are several ferry operators from SG and they let off at several different jettys in Batam. Look for for a ferry that will drop you off at HARBOR BAY terminal in Batam. Nagoya area is less than 10 minutes away from this terminal by taxi. Do not pay more than 40,000 to 60,000 IDR for the ride to Nagoya.

Also, apart from massage parlors, if you want a good experience and don't mind forking out a bit more cash head to ATALANTA or OCTOPUSS spa. Ask for Packet. They will know what you want.

Went to Nagoya Hill Shopping Centre for lunch. Imagine a stadium, and then row houses surrounding the stadium, and all those houses are massage parlors. I didn't see many people going in and out. Don't know how there can be so much business.

Had trouble finding cabs since the app is not allowed at the official taxi stands / entrances. Happened to come across one who speaks my language, and he couldn't enter Bunga since it seemed to be in a mall.

Went to Kupu instead. First timer so got charged 1200. I took the best looking but back at the hotel she was pretty old, and had boil mark, bruises. I didn't ask but really wasn't interested. I sent her away with 100 tip. I think she was afraid I would complain, but I told her things were fine.

Went to dinner at Windsor Food Court. Beer girls will swarm you. Should've tried picking them up. The one I got a beer from had trouble standing on her high heels by the time I left, which wasn't that late. I gave her tips but she didn't understand, thought I was trying to get beers for less than the price.

Went back to hotel. Decided to stop by the bar. It was a weekday, so few customers. But there were lots of pretty women. Sat with a girl named Maria who unlike most people spoke English fluently. I kept offering to buy her lady drinks, but she mostly said no. Having gotten into habit of not tipping, I forgot to tip her at the end of the night. Come again and explore. Many Singaporean come to Batam exclusively for shopping. The nearest and largest mall is Nagoya Hill, where you can find many things but more expensive than elsewhere. Other large malls are DC Mall and BCS. Yes, it is not like KL or Singapore where you find luxury items. There are very large malls at 15-30 minutes by car, but why we should go there, if not for curiosity or hunt local ladies?


Stayed at Harmoni. There's an ATM to the right of the back door.There are more ATMs than western tourists. At Nagoya Hill not less than a dozen. Prefer those that dispense 100 k notes.

Today, most locals and Singaporeans use apps like Gojek and their equivalent for taxi. For me, it makes little sense all that burden to save 1 SGD. I take a cab from street (usually an ojek, not a cab) and I be sure to check the price BEFORE entering. For going around downtown, 10 k on ojek and 30 k on taxi are ok.

I do not understand what you say about Bunga. It is not in a mall. It is like others on the street.
He did not want to take you there because he must be banned there or he takes higher commission from kupu-kupu or others.
If you go to a massage joint with taxi, you will be charged 200k more, which is the commission for the taxi driver. Go alone.

I was in Batam once again for a night on the 15th. As usual stayed at Harmoni hotel, unfortunately NoName was closed, so ventured into some bars down the street, nothing that caught my fancy, came back to the hotel empty handed. I LOVE Batam. I have been going to Batam 3-4 times a year since 2010 (date of my first report in ISG Batam Thread). I learned my survival Bahasa in Batam. Batam has nothing to do with Thailand. No such nightlife, no such bars, no such girls. This is Indonesia, and is not Jakarta. Go to Batam seeking the nightlife of BKK, gogo bars, etc, and you'll be disappointed. You will feel lost. No such nightlife. Simple as that.

Funman13.Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but currently if you go to Batam you are restricted to your resort only. You can't go in the town to the usual booking places, spas or discos (if they even still exist). However you can freely travel to the Philippines, Thailand and Cambodia if you like for better options.

To enhance my pain, I have asked one of my local friends about discos and she said all is open and "everything normal". No foreigners, but Indo live their life there.

What I know about the current situation is not much and not verified, however:
- Formosa is closed, probably forever (end of an era);
- immigration restrictions between SIN and BTM have been lifted, nearly fully (check official web sites for details);
- ferry service is near to be fully restored, even between HF and HB, which are the best connecting points; fares are much higher than before, and won't go down until regular business as before will be not regained;
- I asked many about P1, P2, P3 discos, but I got no reliable feedback; they were my favourite places to hunt at night; sadly, with COVID, a disco is not the safest place to go...
- massage places are slowly reopening.

My understanding is that for a while there will be much less tourists, much less available resources, and therefore more opportunities for those who know how to move around, but also more difficult for those who do not know. I hope it will get back wilder as ten years ago. Who knows...

Harbourfront (SG) was quite crowded. Ferry services seemed restored to normal. Landed in Batam central and checked into an Airbnb.

Not much to share unfortunately. The dreaded batam belly hit me on the second day and pretty much sidelined me for the week.

Dating apps aren't as successful here as but you can still find them on wechat easy enough thru people nearby.

The prices seem to have increased quite dramatically from last I remembered. Most are asking at 700 k to 1 m St 1 pop. 1.5 m to 2.5 m LT. But capped at 3 shots. Maybe it's the lack of supply that's driving prices up. Didn't partake in any from wechat.

I did take a recommendation from a grab driver for a massage place. Lavender Massage near nagoya food court. 200 k for the massage. 500 k tip for the girl. Forgot what these places were like. Literally a mattress and pillow on the floor. At least there was a shower.

Went to Octopuss spa. Loved the ambiance but it was a bit crowded and I had to wait for 30 minutes.

Chose the cheapest option which came to 35-40 SGD (does not have jacuzzi).

The massage was quite good and the girl was slim and decent looking. Happy ending included. But I couldn't cum due to exhaustion and asked the girl to stop after some time.

Gentlemen,

I just returned from my first trip to Batam since COVID. I had only been a couple of times prior to COVID so am still learning the place, but here are my impressions.

Navigating the scene in Batam without local language or cultural familiarity isn't easy. There's not a central nightlife location or walking street and it's not a pure point and shoot environment like other prominent mongering destinations in the region so newbies should keep their expectations in check and be prepared for some trial and error.

Most of the girly bars seem to located in an area called Kampung Bule. The Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall is another area close by where many massage spas (legit and otherwise) are located. I think this entire area is broadly called the Nagoya Entertainment District but it's all a bit fragmented and not as organized as it sounds. There are many other clubs, KTVs, and other venues beyond this area but I've only dabbled a bit in these areas so don't have any meaningful intel to share on them.

I used to stay at the Harmoni hotel which seemed to be the best location in Kampung Bule. There was a notorious pick-up bar connected to the hotel property back in the day but it closed a few years ago. Now the hotel itself is also closed but a couple of the bars connected to the property are still open. The best one in my opinion is called The Wine Club. There's a good selection of cute girls here. I hooked up with one pre-COVID but it's a YMMV environment. Like most bars in the area, most of the girls are primarily working for drinks and will only go with customers that they really like. That said, there were a couple of certified 9-10's in this bar.

Outside of the Harmoni hotel there is a scattering of other bars close by, but overall the area is sort of dead and feels a bit dark and shady. There's a well-known bar called Foreplay which was pretty fun but it's more of a legit place with a band playing on weekends. Overall, if you're expecting anything even remotely close to Pattaya, Angeles City, or Phenon Penh, you will be severely disappointed. The area might have been hopping back in the day, but that seems to be a distant memory.

As mentioned, beyond Kampung Bule there are a number of spas located in the Nagoya Hill shopping area. I've only tried Delta Spa which is a well-known men's spa with locations throughout Indonesia. I can recommend it for a quality massage experience with happy ending.

Funny story. This trip when arriving at Delta the ladies at the front desk told me there are no happy endings. At first, I was like wtf, no handjobs? But then they clarified "happy ending" meant sex. I laughed and explained to them that in my country a happy ending means a handjob, which they thought was funny. To them it seems a handjob is considered a standard part of a male massage and only sex is considered extra. You have to love these places!

Overall, I'd say Batam is worth a side trip from Singapore if you have a few days to kill and want a cheaper change of scenery, but otherwise I wouldn't make a special effort to visit. Also, as noted by TheDirtyBeast, a 500 K tourist visa is now required for all non-ASEAN passport holders, which for me makes it harder to justify a quick ferry trip from Singapore. Hopefully they remove this silly requirement.

I just returned from my first trip to Batam since COVID. I had only been a couple of times prior to COVID so am still learning the place, but here are my impressions.Thank you very much for providing your report. I will be there in October, if plans will not be disrupted, and I guess I will have some hard time to orient myself in the new environment of post-COVID.

Your most important message is "Batam is not Pattaya". It has never been so. It has been always very hard to navigate for those who do not know where to go, or do not speak a minimum of bahasa. One of my favourite places to hunt on Friday and Saturday night was the NoName club, the club in the Harmoni Hotel, which was closed years ago after some years of decadence. That was great.

Now, I hope you don't mind if I ask you some questions. This will help to understand what changed there.

1) I am not sure if you missed the best of Batam experience because you did not know where to go, or because COVID killed all that scene.

Did you go or hear about Square Club at I-Hotel Baloi? My past reports say a lot. I wish to know if it's still there...

Did you go or hear about discos? Planet 1 (Planet Holiday)? Planet 2 (Newton)? Planet 3 (HH)? Also for discos, I wrote quite a bit about disco. I wish to know what is still there...

Hiring a hostess is expensive, but most commonly is just for company at the table. Some people likes to drink in company with a paid sexy girl. Most of them will not follow the guest in the hotel, or if they do will do it for a lot of money. It was some 2 M before COVID.

There are many massage and spa places clustered around the Pagoda hotel and on the next street opp DC Mall. We were quoted IDR600 k-900 k (US $40-60) for ST. We got there around 3 pm on a Thu and the girls there were 4's and 5's, we saw only one who was a 7. You might have better luck if you get there earlier.

There are several booking or LT joints near the Hana hotel area. LT means 3 shots or until 7 am the next morning. You might get more than 3 shots I you're young and hansum: the. If you're not sure if it's a LT or ST place, just ask the front desk if they do booking or massage. Prices are IDR1300 k - 1800 k (US $86-120). We were told to get there around 12-2 pm to get the better girls.

Mawar massage (opp DC Mall, same row as OYO 664 Hotel). We got there about 3:30 pm and the 10+ girls there were 4's and 5's. Price quoted was IDR1400 k.

Sekar massage (opp Hana Hotel) - we got there about 3 pm and there were maybe 4 girls who were 6. 5-7. The other 10+ girls were 4's or 5's. We paid IDR 1500 k each for a 6. 5 and a 7.

Memory KTV (north of Hana, next to New Hotel). We went at around 8 pm and 3:30 pm (Day 2), 2-3 girls were 6. 5, the other 8-12 were 4's and 5's. Prices are IDR1300 k to 1800 k.

Links KTV (near Memory, next to Podomoro restaurant). We went at around 8 pm and 3:30 pm (Day 2), 3-4 girls were 6. 5-7, the other 10+ were 4's and 5's. We saw at least 3 other 7's but they were already booked by regular customers (they take phone orders, for pick-up and delivery: D). We paid IDR1700 each for the 7's.

Bars (area west of Barelang Hotel).

Very few customers. Many of the girls were quite pushy, repeatedly asking for lady drinks (IDR65 k-100 k). A jug of draft beer was around IDR400 k. We saw a few pretty ones (7-7. 5) but they won't go for ST or LT. These bars are a good place to spend a lot of money for 0 returns.

Sintai. Taxi driver told us about this out of the way place, west of the Batam Hills golf course, where there are bars and ST places that cater to the locals. Maybe some of the more adventurous board members can check the area out and post a report? : the The cab driver said it's like the Dolly area (since torn down?) in Surabaya.

Overall, things are ok but quieter than before.
I see many shops and restaurants closed, including my favourite place for Ikan Bakar (named Jakarta Ikan Bakar) on Jalan Bonjol down the mosque at the entrance of Nagoya Hill. Sad. I hope they will reopen it before I go back to Batam.

Things are recovering. It is still a fun place, but it will take time to be back as it was, I believe.

FOOD COURTS

Windsor is sad, less restaurants, less people, more expensive than other Food Courts.

I recommend Nagoya Food Court, somewhere behind Formosa, not far from Newton.
Cheaper than Windsor, full of people till late, good food, better and more varied than in Windsor.

Other good places to try are A2 (Penuin) and 168, which I have never tried but I heard good things.

MY IMPRESSIONS

During my 8 nights and 9 days, I was bored often, with some special highlights to remember now and then. I had my work to do, so I was bringing my laptop to Nagoya Hill to work watching girls passing by.

I never went to NED (still there), but I went to many pubs / clubs including Square, F1, HolyWings and Planet 3, and to discos Newton and Pacific (Pacific reopened the disco again! After many years!! HURRAH!!)

I lined one up to come to my hotle room for 1m but got ghosted so wasted my time on there. It was pretty quiet and I'm sure you can get one back to your room if you can be bothered doing the work. The quality varies, A LOT!! I did a lot of scouting before i chose that bar.

I have been back to Batam 2 times in the last 15 days, 3 N+4 N. Overall, we are getting back to Good. I am very happy I have returned here. However, the Old Glorious Times, when my problem was to do optimal scheduling of appointments to avoid overlaps and maximize the number of girls, and virtually any girl in pubs and discos seemed an achievable target, are gone.
