Japan is obviously really good and cheap for Japanese food.

5) A typical budget hotel room in Japan hovers around 10K ($64). It is way better value than a typical US hotel, excepting the most expensive hot spots.

6) For sightseeing, you might expect 500-1000 for temple admission, or 500-2500 for a typical restaurant for a solid meal. I typically pay under 500 yen for a simple but delicious breakfast. Pronto will give you fantastic coffee as part of a set. 500 is $3.20.

* Kira Kira made an English website and raised its prices 5000 yen ($33) after some guy kept writing guides about how to use them last year. They also hired a bunch more girls, the girls tend to give excellent service. Multi-shot friendly, good attitude. When you go to a more upscale Tokyo soapland, you are basically paying more for a hotter girl but the service is going to be comparable on average. Obviously, any shop might have an outstanding girl as an exception so we're just talking about average expectations here.

It's about 8 thumbs up for Kira Kira, 1 thumbs down, some "good but thailand cheaper" reports. About 7 thumbs up for Luxe, 2 thumbs down, multiple "glad I went but no repeat" reports. Obviously Thailand is going to be cheaper, but if you are in Japan anyways and like Japanese women there is fun to be had. Compared to Japan's other options, Kira Kira is very budget friendly with good service, we are expecting a "good enough" decent girl not a stunner. Oppai pubs are much cheaper than US strip clubs for what you get, but unfortunately only Luxe is fully foreigner friendly. About 2 years Japanese to get into the others with Manzoku, but Atex managed to get in with a friend and by showing receipts.

If you have some language skills, girls bars and hostess bars are quite cheap. The entry is 3000 to 5000 yen for most places. I have rarely done these but on some occasion a girl standing outside holding up a sign is so cute or beautiful I'm just stunned. In Osaka 20 years ago I met one such girl and chatted with her 30 minutes, then extended another 30. It was only 2000 yen ($13) to "date" her plus 1000 yen ($7) to "keep" her instead of switch girls. I lucked out because I remember her to this day, she said she was 20 and looked 20, cute and adorable. Most civilian women cost me a lot more just to date. Obviously, most girls are neither that cheap nor memorable but it sometimes happens. That's why girls stand outside holding up signs, there is no B+S you get the girl you pick. Once the night gets late, the good ones get taken so you see fewer and fewer girls "not taken". Just talking and beer, a girls bar is no touch but the girls sometimes gently touch me. It is literally cheaper than a Japanese language teacher and when a girl is cute enough I pay full attention to her every word.

The advice on avoiding touts is specific to Kabukicho where there are B+S, scams, and shops that suck they will take you to. I actually never had this problem in other cities in Japan, but out of caution I don't want to simply say it's okay elsewhere. Just that within Kabukicho you want to research your spot and ignore touts, or go to any Manzoku shop where every shop they list is legit since they rely on repeat customers.

About race restrictions and places that suck, the best approach is for us to just go where we are welcome. Give those places our business.

The purpose of the "getting laid on a layover" guide is to illustrate how to navigate Japan's public transportation as a tourist. The first time is hardest, but it's actually quite amazing, on-time, and well organized. Most people work very hard to provide good service.

A reminder that no matter the country, you can make things cheaper by exchanging money at a good rate. 711 convenience stores are all over Japan and they have ATM machines that take international bank cards in my experience. I believe you get the very best rate if you choose Yen. If the "mid-market" exchange rate for Yen is 154, then the Buy rate might be 151 and sell rate 157 since that's their profit. There may be ATM fees, which worked out to be another 1%-2% depending on your bank. CCs can be good for regular tourist shopping, but sex shops often have to pass on extra fees since CCs will charge them extra in turn.

These are selected reports from the last 30 days. A reminder that most foreigners want to use Yoasobi instead of Cityheaven. Yoasobi lists "just" the foreigner friendly shops of Cityheaven and is not IP locked to Japan. English, Chinese, Korean. For those going to Yoshiwara soaplands, they have a unique pricing structure of two fees added together (shop + girl). Although credit card can be convenient, cash is generally better and 711 ATMs take international bank cards. I usually do airport exchange at Narita and Haneda (they have had good rates unlike other country exchanges).

About race restrictions, it is not common but there is no way to give exact details. We have seen Black and Indian customers at many shops, but I'm sure others don't allow it. As I've told myself, the main restriction is language. For those who speak zero Japanese, look for English/Korean/Chinese friendly shops such as through Yoasobi. Kira Kira and Luxe are 100% foreigner friendly. That said, "must speak Japanese" shops tend to have slightly better service since locals have higher standards. When I could speak 3 months Japanese, I could get into 20% of all shops. When I could speak Japanese well, I could get into 80%. This shows it is not mainly a race thing but communication and understanding rules.

The last 30 days of reports cover sexy massage, delivery health, soapland, and oppai pub. For a cheap and reliable soapland in Yokohama, Kira Kira is one option for beginners to "try it out". I am weird and just show up without appointment, there were always 1 or 2 girls available when I showed up 12pm or 8pm but ymmv. I'm not expecting a stunner but a decent looking woman who will worship me for 70 minutes, then I look for young hot girls at oppai pubs at night. Unfortunately, Luxe's standards have not been good lately. I use Manzoku to get into Hosekinobako and Leicester by showing I can speak some Japanese. Hosekinobako was the nicest but also a 7 minute walk from Manzoku. I noticed other foreigners could get in with about 2 years worth of Japanese. I finally got a dud at Kira Kira, she was new and not good attitude. However, I also know most of their girls are good from trying them too. So I mention this for awareness. Do not use Japanese sites like Cityheaven or Fuzokudx, it is a waste of time! I actually tried using them but usually they don't know how to serve foreigeners. Most DH take only cash so at Narita/Haneda I exchange $6K-$10K into yen. The airport exchange is the best rate it is the absolute prime Buy/Sell rate (about +/- 2.5% margin), followed by ATM (2.5-3.5% margin) but ATM can be capped with a daily limit, followed by Travelex once you have left the airport area (about 5.0% margin). About choosing a good hotel, if you want girls sent to your hotel you want to be in Shinjuku or Shibuya. Obviously, some hotels are cheaper than others and the cheap ones can be a bit of a walk. Japan switched over to new bills in 2024. Due to the change many ATMs only give out 10k bills ($69) now. It means at a 138 exchange rate your $500 limit might really be a 60k limit since you can't make it to 70k or anything in-between. Early 2024 every 711 ATM used to be international, but this trip I could not use 711 ATMs. I could use the Family Mart ATMs instead, which had 'international' labeled.

An ATM will ask you three options: Credit, Checking, Saving. With my bank card, I always want to pick Checking (Savings does not work). If I use a credit card for a cash advance, I select Credit. Whatever your ATM or cash advance limit, it resets after 24 hours. Make sure if you need cash advance that you have your PIN set, many credit cards will not allow you to set it online for safety reasons so it is too late once you are in Japan.

For large sums like $5K, I would simply bring that cash and convert it at the airport right after exiting customs. Narita and Haneda have an exchange just outside customs and it is the best rate in the country. Note that online currency exchange rates always publish the 'mid' rate which nobody actually gets. The Buy/Sell rate is +/- 2.5% typically, and the Japanese airport exchange will give you exactly that which is unusually good. The US airport will not! This rate is better than the ATM after fees (or tied if you have an online bank that reimburses fees).

Exchange rates are often misunderstood. If the mid rate is 142, then the Buy Yen rate will be 138.5. You cannot buy yen at the 142 rate anywhere, there is always a margin. Your best rate worsens once you leave the airport. The airport exchange overhead is 2.5%, an ATM for me was 3.5% (due to fees), and Travelex outside the airport was 5%. Do not use a kiosk, it's typically 10% to 20%.

You can bring about $7K cash into Japan without declaring it (it is legal to bring more, you just have to declare it at customs). Credit cards work perfectly well at many plaes in Japan, just don't use them for adult service since there is typically a special 10% extra charge.

If you use cash advance, interest accrues immediately on a daily basis. Just pay it off in a week or two and it's no much. Make sure to pay off your whole balance so the cash advance is paid off rather than non cash advance. Yes, it is as dumb as it sounds. Cash advance is cheap if you do it right, they are making money off of people who don't do this.

By the way, Shibuya Galaxy is located around Dogenzaka hill. This same alley takes you to TAE (#1 budget DH) and Tora no Ana (Aika). There are tons of trendy night clubs too, and it gets packed Friday and Saturday night. If you walk around and see a sign saying 40 minutes massage for 3000 yen - obviously that is cheap so it MUST be a real actual massage. No, expect to pay a bit more. Part of it is various options and fees that even Japanese locals have to pay, on top of any foreigner fee. Any English site already includes foreigner prices. If you see the website, TAE lists 22K for outcall at 65 minutes for foreigners. This is the base rate, but you will end up paying 27.5K for Shibuya, 29.7K for Ginza. The difference is merely in the delivery fee, since Ginza is further for them (costing her and the shop time).

[B]TAE Fee Breakdown[/B]
The fees are:

1) Delivery. Free if you are right next to TAE's shop. Shibuya is 1000, very near Shibuya is 2000, further is 3000, and East Tokyo is 4000. This price progression actually makes sense, but it raises the advertised price.

2) Nomination. If you are willing to let them pick the girl for you, it's free. If you have a specific girl you want, it's 2000 yen. This is not uncommon with shops, especially cheaper ones that want to trumpet a seemingly low rate.

3) Admission. They waived this for me, but it is 2000 yen. I never paid it, but technically first-timers are supposed to pay it.

4) Tax. This is 10%. By law they are required to charge it, but TAE choose to show you the pre-tax amount unlike most shops which show the after-tax amount.

Note that 110 minutes is 34000 yen, all fees and tips were unchanged. So (34000 + 1000 + 2000) = 40700 yen ($276). That's $90 more. Two girls I booked for 65 minutes, they were hot, they were fun, but I was done before 65 minutes and ready to go out and grab a meal. 50 minutes would have been enough. It is just my preference, but I would never do TAE incall even though it is slightly cheaper. However if you are far from Shibuya or can't use your hotel, you should do that instead.

It is a 3 minute walk to Shibuya Station, though it might take another 3 minutes walk to reach the train platform after reaching the station. Hotels cost less as you go further from the station center, try the Dogenzaka direction for night fun.

In case you want something different, here are other options. I don't recommend them all but it should give you an idea of what Japan offers:
