Funny, same thing here. My dreaded "D" girl tells me, ages ago, she is getting married. I instantly replied that I will buy her the wedding dress... I was serious .. Now, and only now, I understand why my offer pissed her off :)

Guys...I don't know about these girls...It boggles the frickin' mind. But, frankly, that kind of shit turns me off. I like "V" very much as a friend, and I may even break down and see her again. She apparently has some affection for me, asking me this last time to call her the following day around 10am so we could get together, austensibly so she could pick up a CD of my Gringo music from me. I forgot to call... :-)

I have to say, she is such a great actress that upon knowing that she IS such a great actress, and a girl with such an unbelievably compicated life and human debry in her interactions, and seemingly with such little regard for whatever fallout occurs in her wake, that it's just kind of a turn-off.

The answer to my question most likely is to be found in the forum, but because of its length I am reluctant to sift through it. I hope no one is offended.

I will be going to Mty for the weekend, staying at the Safi hotel. Is there any action nearby? Any and all recommendations would be welcomed.

To the best of my recollection, the Safi, while it IS a beautiful hotel, probably a five star in quality, is NOT girlfriendly. However, I have never personally tried to bring a girl in there, mainly because I was always told it was not girlfriendly and didn't want to risk the walk of shame.

I have stayed at the Safi myself, and it was marvelous. But, of course, I don't stay there regularly, unless business demands it, because I can't bring girls back there with me. You will either have to limit your fun to "in-club"activities, or go down to Hotel Plaza Del Arco, which is located relatively close to the Safi but not within easy walking distance. The Hotel Plaza Del Arco is located at Pino Suarez and Madero if you want to do a salida with a girl.

The club scene is not within walking distance of the Safi, and I don't believe there is anything around the Safi within walking distance. Carlos may know of a club that's close to Safi, but I can't think of one.

That having been said, the concentrated lower end club scene is relatively close to the Safi by taxi, probably no more than 10-15 minutes. Take a taxi to the area of the strip club Gauntlet, Villagran between Carlos Salizar and Isaac Garza, and walk south on Villagran. The following is a list of acceptable lower end clubs located in the area mentioned. They are not comfortable clubs. They are uncomfortable clubs, but the quality of your experience there is very economical for what you get, and for the quality of girls. The lower end clubs I recommend are as follows:

These are all within walking distance of each other...
El-Infinito
Givenchy
Tangalay
Parthenon
Cascabel

Matehuela is within walking distance of El Infinito, probably 5-8 minutes, at Madero and Juan Alverez, one block West of Villagran if you walk North from El Infinito to Madero.

El Cielo is located at Arteaga two blocks East of Vilagran, so it's within easy walking distance of El Infinito as well, 3-4 minutes.

Basically, these are the lower end clubs, all located within walking distance of each other, probably none of them more than 5 minutes apart on foot, and some of them across the street from one another or relatively next door to one another. They are clubs that have some good quality girls, some better than others of course.

I would rate them accordingly:
El Infinito (far and away my favorite)
Matehuela
El Cielo
Tangalay
Givenchy
Parthenon

Here are the medium priced clubs, in the USB order of importance, ones that are all located within close proximity to one another, and within walking distance of one another:
El Harem, 1400 block of Madero
Pasarelas, 900 block of Madero.
THche, 1800 block of Madero
Excalibre, 1000 Block of Madero

I would also recommend Casino, which is the other direction and not within walking distance of the cluster of medium level clubs mentioned above. Casino is on Madero between Capt. Aguilar and Degollado, a couple blocks West of Matehuela, the strip club. It is in the same category, perhaps just slightly under the quality of El Harem, IMHO.

Bahamas is also in the category of the medium level clubs, and it is located on Guerrero, North of Madero.

Speaking of high end strip clubs, they are as follows:
Obsession, on Guerrero North of Colon
Prestige, Viente De Noviembre and Madero
Poisson, Zaragoza and Aramberri
Amnesia, I Don't remember the location, but it's not too far from all the others by taxi.
Premier, 700 Block of Cortines

All of the taxi drivers will know the locations of these high end clubs because they get commissions if they bring you to one of them. So, be expecting to pay through the nose if you choose to visit them. They are very comfortable clubs, great line-ups of girls, but EXTREMELY expensive.

The medium level clubs are comfortable too, the girls can sometimes be just as hot, and the prices are significantly less. So, the veterans of MTY are rarely found in the high end clubs of MTY.

None of us regulars frequent the high end clubs for anything other than the 60 pesos buffets in the afternoons at Prestige and Obsession. We have found better options in the medium and low end clubs.

But, that having been said, some guys like the comfort of the high end clubs, and their quality is generally quite good, so if you have the money, and you want to blow it, have at it. I doubt anyone goes away from the high end clubs disasspointed, except to realize they have blown a huge wad of dough afterward. But, for visiting Gringos that have no Spanish speaking abilities, guys that want to be pampered, guys that don't care what the cost is because they are there to have a great time regardless of cost, guys that like the comfort of a "USA" style high end strip clubs, then the high end clubs of Monterrey will not disappoint you. Just bring your wallet, and several credit cards :-)

First of all, you need to specify which of the 2 Safi Hotels you are going to stay at.
If you are staying at the downtown Safi, please pay notice of Unspongebob's post.
If you are staying at the plush San Pedro Garza Garcia one, you are some 10 minutes away from the clubs and you will need a taxi for that...
Only thing I will say, contradicting my friend USB is that if this is your first time to MTY, please stick to the Madero Ave Clubs. The ones on Villagran migh be a little tough looking for a first comer... but they are not.
Thing is no one speaks English there, you'll be going on a Friday night or Saturday when the crowds go to watch soccer instead of paying attention to the girls and so on.
So give us a hint, sir.

UsB: We all go through stages or cross paths in our lives with others who are also going through their own stages/cross paths. It creates an opportunity to experience something unique at that particular time and place. Usually, it can be extended or repeated for some time. But eventually, all good things do not last long, as in our relationship with a chica or for anything that matters. We learn to appreciate what we had and cannot change, and move on. I wish you the best of luck in your cross paths!

Wasted: The barrios Antiguo is an awesome place to visit if you know what to expect. There are a ton of hotspots, clubs and restaurants with mostly groups of people in their 20’s. C.P. is correct that it is very difficult almost impossible to penetrate (no pun intended) that scene of beautiful gorgeous woman in groups. The best approach is knowing someone in his or her inner circle of friends. I struck out miserably the last time I visited and I am in my 30’s, decent looking and can easily converse with women.

The best bet is to meet a non-pro during the day at the stores and possibly hook up with her and her friends at Barrio Antiguo. That’s what I am planning on doing next time, among other fun activities.

C.P.: How are you amigo? It’s been awhile and I miss MTY. Changed my name here from O.P. Planning on visiting again soon, maybe we can have lunch again.

Yeah, I usually stay six nights lately, and I feel that is slightly more than enough. This next trip will be seven nights, and I expect I will be quite ready to leave by then.

Personally, I believe that you have it backwards, Thursday through Sunday, but of course, I realize you're having to make those arrangements probably to accomodate your business schedule back home.

But, optimumly, I think the best range of days is Sunday Night through Thursday Night, which I've been trying to adhere to on most of my trips. The girls are more available to me than on weekends nights, when there are just too many guys distracting them, and getting them away from the clubs is too much work.

Dosluna: I've been to Bario a few times already. I made my own circle and have prett much done the unthinkable that I can not even tell about :-).

My last trip, I had to hand the security dude a red note to let the girls in, 2 of them looked under 18 and had no ID's. Been tot he coffee shops and had a band play a special song for me. Been to some of the bars and had them change the music for me ... I learned my way around. Yes, I know there is so much to discover and learn. I've to places I will not talk about.

I hit it off with an 18 y.o girl I met at one of the discos. I had her within a few hours in my room. I dated one girl from another bar. But then I decided it was too much work. I'll stick to my ladies at the clubs.

But you are correct. I can not go there alone and expect to get lucky. No way. I am way too old and will stand out unless I have my own group. And that's what I do. I get me 5 or 6 or 12 girls and have the greatest time of my life.

Interesting ... I guess since my approach is completely different than yours, I prefare the long weekend over the weekdays. And you are correct. I have to interact with too many clients that it is easier to work from home than from a hotel room.

I have no issue getting a girl since I usually have 5 of them lining up wondering which of them will be the lucky one to go home with me. Even the manager and Pancho ask me 'who are you taking home tonight?'

Too many to choose from. I sometimes end up taking 2. and then a 3rd for Mr. "L".
