Well I made a Run for the Border Saturday night 5-5-2012. Mickey wanted to celebrate his New Gringo Version of Cinco De Mayo-Cinco De Panocha. Arrived late evening and checked into Hotel Fiesta. Didn't check out any of the El Centro Bars. Walked to the taxi stand at the bridge and had no problem getting a taxi at 10:45 PM. I had to give the taxi driver directions to La Zona / NLBT, he was a new taxi driver. Had the the taxi driver drop me off in front of Safari. Sonya-the 15 year veteran of Papagayo's was standing out in front of Safari. From a distance, standing by the taxi, I told Sonya-hola Sonya-como esta? Sonya recognized me, walked up and hugged me. Laura, another ex Papagayo's chica was sitting outside with a dude. Laura said hola & we hugged. Laura introduced the dude she was with & told me that he was her novio. We shook hands & he told me that he liked my Bettie Page shirt. Both Sonya & Laura were giving me shit about my goatee.

Sonya & I went inside & I bought us some drinks. Sonya told me that ex Papagayo Monterrey chica Lilianna / Lili also worked at Safari. When Lilianna walked into the bar, we called her over. She didn't recognize me at first. We hugged & I got her a drink. Both Sonya & Lilianna were telling me how different I looked with the goatee. The last time I fucked Sonya was back in 2005. Sonya always used to hit me up for business when she worked at Papa's & I would politely turn her down. Shots didn't hit anyone, grenade didn't explode. Grenade landed on Hidalgo, right in front of Jorrochos, close the curb on the Herradura side of the street. Had it exploded that grenade would have hurt some street vendors, the quesadilla stand is right there. I was in the Montera when it happened, they closed the doors for a few minutes until they were sure trouble was passed. We walked down and bought a couple quesadillias and walked over the the Intimo to eat them. Stayed in the Intimo playing pool with mi novia until 12am, had to walk back to Montera where my car was parked, we were going to stop by the Herradura for one more beer but it was locked down, streets almost deserted. I hope this is not a sign of things to come, but am afraid it may be. As today it is reported that Chapo's people took credit for the the last 14 killed that were found the other day. Posted is a photo of the heads, along with a threatening banner. The banner threatens the mayor, and other officials, of Nuevo Laredo, accuses them of being in with with the other side. Warns him that unless things change he is coming after their heads too. So you now see, it could get real nasty here real soon.

I forgot to add this to my original 5-5-2012 report. The Mexican Military was out in Force when I left NLBT / La Zona at 5:15 AM Saturday night / Sunday morning. There were multiple Military vehicles with Soldiers on foot outside of Safari. There were multiple Military vehicles with Soldiers on foot at the entrance / exit to NLBT / La Zona. They were checking vehicles coming into & leaving NLBT / La Zona. Jaime drove me back to El Centro / Hotel Fiesta. A Soldier with a machine gun had us stop about even with the Shamrock Club. He had a flashlight & was visually checking out the occupants-Jaime & I. He spoke to Jaime in spanish & Jaime spoke back to the Soldier in spanish. The Soldier saw my mongering satchel on the front passenger floorboard & wanted to see what was inside of it. I handed the satchel to the Soldier, he looked inside of my mongering satchel for about 15-20 seconds, he handed it back & let us go.

Bbond, thank you very much for the Info that you provide us. Damn, I sure hope that Nuevo Laredo doesn't go to Hell in a Handbasket with lots of Violence. If I can ever get my ass to Nuevo Laredo early afternoon / early evening, I need to & want to peruse the El Centro Bars for Reasonably Priced Mexicana Panocha. On both of my recent trips to Nuevo Laredo / NLBT / La Zona. I have had an excellent time at Danash with the 22 year old Flaquita Bonita Ivy. I have been paying in Pesos & Danash uses the old 10:1 exchange ratio, so I am saving money paying in Pesos. But Danash is still expensive, even paying in Pesos.

What a shame! This was my all time favorite place to relax, have a few beers and watch the people walk by. They had a great jukebox with a huge selection of music. I have many fond memories of this place. I took several women from NLBT on dates at the La Mina.
