Regarding Eden Club, this could simply reflect that the girls are all inside: either working or more likely in a line-up. I haven't been there for a while, but I walked past recently (I always go to the massage place next door) and I was surprised to be impressed by the quality of the girls at first glance.
Sometimes the short way to the airport is not the quickest. If you were staying in Suk Soi 22 for example, it could be that getting to Rama IX expressway could take a very long time in traffic jam with heavy rain. The other option, is to get on freeway is at Khlong Toei off Rama 4. Then head off on the Bang Na. Chonburi expressway and enter the airport the back way. Its a longer distance (over 40 km) and cost me 270 Baht on the meter, but was quick as did not experience traffic jams on the way to freeway and freeway was fairly empty (unlike Rama 9 freeway).
At 8:50PM I was still watching the football in Hotel lobby. Quickly packed the bags, checked out of Hotel, caught the taxi to airport (2 toll booths) , checked in airport, passed Immigration (moderately busy) by 10:10PM. Forgot to actually time the taxi ride.

Last time I left the Davis Hotel Tuesday night at 6:00pm peak hour for an 8:30pm flight the taxi took me this way but I didn't know the name of the freeway. Now I will be able to ask to go this way all the time. BTW, leaving at 6:00pm it took about 10 minutes in very heavy traffic to get from the Davis to the freeway then 25 minutes in light traffic to the airport. I paid 400 Baht including tolls.
I am in Bangkok for today and tomorrow.

Each occurrence has a chance, let's say, of 1/20, 000. If, let's say instead for example / illustration, each occurrence had a chance of 1/2, that would NOT mean that after 2 times you would have a 100% chance of contracting. The way probabilities are calculate is as follows:
1 minus ("the chance of NOT being infected" raised to the power of "number of occurrences") [note: when I put in the mathematical notation the formatting got messed up, so I'm writing it all out instead]
So, the odds of getting infected based on the odds of 50/50 (1 in 2) , look like this (column 1 = occurrence, column 2 = probability)
1 50%
2 75%
3 88%
4 94%
5 97%
6 98%
Etc.
At 1/20, 000 (a number I have NO idea whether is accurate or not) , they look like this:
100 0. 5%
1000 5%
5000 22%
10000 39%
20000 63%
Etc.
BTW, this completely disregards certain important realities, like whether either person is infected with (or is in the process of being infected with) other STDs, which GREATLY increases the odds of contracting HIV in any single occurrence.
In any case, odds should not be what drives behavior here. It is possible to get infected on a single occurrence (the first one). Furthermore, behavior is what spreads this disease, not "odds."

Very pushy for drinks, lots of ladyboys.
Some Bangkok gogos do have good dancers part of the evening, e. G. Long Gun and Rawhide in Cowboy. The worst bars are the flashy ones like Tilac, Midnight, Deja Vu. There are cute girls, but the fun factor really isn't there. Maybe the drinks are expensive enough that they don't have to hustle. I have heard from guys who get lucky there, hit it off with a girl that suits them and meet her multiple times. But I usually curse myself if I let myself be suckered into buying a drink for a pretty girl who turns wooden as soon as she sits down.

I was in the mood to go to some 'high-class place' and so hit Spasso a month or so back. Great looking girls who can speak English. Like some of the punters mentioned, they are not your 19-20 yr olds but girls in their late 20's and early 30's.
The place is known for their cocktails. Around 350bht but closer to 400 after taxes etc. Not much to write home about IMHO though.
Chatted with a girl who showed me eyes. She was a mother of two and wanted 6000 down to 5000 and finally 4, 500. We parted as friends.
Saw another lovely with a short skirt and top who I finally negotiated down to 4000. She then went to talk to someone about the deal and did not return for some time. That's when I chanced upon a tall, beautiful girl. I asked her if she wants to come for 4000. After consulting with her friend she agreed. Stupid taxi drivers wanted 70bht for a 50 bht ride but I gave in.
The girl is Amm, from Isaan. 175cm tall and spoke slightly accented English. Very pretty. No problem in the hotel. Just walked up.

Soi Cowboy is sometimes open later, it depends on whether the Boys in Brown close it down. Regardless the street bars on Asoke (Soi 21) etc. Stay open late, and usually have a few girls available.
One place that is open until 6am (it has been for years, I haven't been recently though) is Climax in the Ambassador Hotel on Soi 9 or Soi 11, It was called something else before Climax (Possible the Spice Club?). It is a big club with a number of Pinoy bands. The girls from the Gogo's often head there after work. It's well worth a look.
Another place I noticed was open late recently is Bangkok Beat on Suk. Soi 7. 1 (same Soi as Eden Club). Formally known as Absolut Bar. This is open well after 2 am at least at the weekend, and is a great bar, with a real mixed crowd, including a good selection of girls you can take home. I like this place, and often take girls there for post-dinner and pre-sex drinks. The bands are good.
Just asks the bar girls where they go after work, that should get you some pointers.

No flame, but a correction. 4000 plus another 2000 = 6000 baht, for all night USD 30 to 1 = 200 USD, which gets you nearly nothing in the States.

Anyone that says "it was good because I would pay more/same in the US" is a total fool about Thailand mongering.
If you are paying 6000 B for LT in Bangkok, that is nuts.
