I have been meaning to visit and post for the past 2 days to update on the latest big news for Sabang. 2 days ago, all bars raised their barfine prices from 2K to 3K. And beer / water from 60P to 80P. I guess the drinks are cheaper than Pampanga, but now the BF is same same or higher compared to some bars in Angeles.

So, if you are planning a trip to Sabang, it better be for the diving and not necessarily for the bar action.

The word on the street is that the Korean bar owners are responsible for the price hike. Sabang Disco has been Korean for a while, but recently a Korean took a new lease on Broadway bars and some say he overpaid the lease at 500K per month commitment and is struggling. He pressured the local barangay captain, who is also a bar owner, to raise the price. And of course all other bar owners must follow the trend.

Sabang is a very small community and so can be tightly controlled by the Barangay captain in terms of controlling the sex business. For example, the Barangay captain about 6 months ago banned 'hunting' girls, freelances from Sabang. He employs night patrolers to police this ban so the freelancers do not attempt to earn some food money. This ensures that the foreigners will visit his and other bars for their jollies after dark.

The PH owner of Las Vegas is not happy about the BF price hike because now noone is taking barfines. All will suffer now, the bar owners, the girls, the mamas because white foreigners will not pay 3K for service that is barely worth 500P hehehe.

In the 2. 5 years I've been in Sabang, the Korean business and visitor numbers have increased. They are the only investors here, building more accommodation facilities and establishing food businesses.

Regarding Pink Pantha. It has been replaced by Coco Lips and is still a useless small bar, overpriced drinks. It does not matter if you are young and handsome or fat and old, the girls will give you 10mins of chat and if no LD is given, they will retreat into the corner to talk to their friends leaving you alone for the remainder of your stay in the bar.

The word is the Australian owner of the lease evicted Alf and has decided to run the new bar himself. Alf relocated Pink Panta up the hill in Senentigan and tried to persuade people to visit there but with no success. I do not know the final result of Alf's move.

In conclusion, unless you bring your own girl company, expect the now 3K BF prices; few freelance opportunities (in fact even Big Apple is lean of freelances these days) ; higher drinks prices.

P. S. I had a cash rich English friend here for about a week. He made a BF each night while the price was 2K and each morning over coffee he would relay his experiences. Each BF gir was a headache in one way or another. Either they forced him to wait till mid night before leaving with him because they must finish their 3 set dance routine and then complain to him that they are too tired for the bombom business. Or after the first bombom, give some rubbish story about having to go home. Or making promises about the morning glory bombom and then changing their minds etc etc.

I have never paid a BF and I have to say. 80% of the ST experiences are barely worth 500P let alone 2K and now 3K.

Having said that, I did have a sweet visitor today. New arrival, never did the business with a white guy before. She said she will never forget me, heheheh. I negotiated a package: 2 visits for 1K and will see her again on Monday. This experience confirms my thinking to give up on the bargirls and focus attention on regular girls in other normal locations, not Sabang. Heheheh.

I think I have been in PH too long. Hehehe. Or I am only now getting a firmer grasp on the reality of the situation in Sabang at least.

After the Sabang BF price hike development, I thought the girls would immediately start to think that their 'value' was higher. And how this will impact on the price they will accept for afternoon ST encounters. Well, perhaps the impact is not as widespread as I imagined.

For example, I had a spontaneous visitor to my room today. When I first met her a week ago, she insisted on 1K for afternoon ST. Today we chatted about the BF price rises, she believes the rates are now too expensive and is worried that less foreigners will pay that BF rate.

After the chatting, I offered her a package: 2 encounters for 1K. She agreed and will visit again in a few days to collect the second half of the deal.

So it might still be business as usual here in Sabang outside of the bars. For example, as before, some girls will scream 1K for afternoon ST, while others will accept the 700/500 offers, like before. Sure there will always be the cutties that never ST. But will less foreigners paying the BF, then the girls will be same same open minded to afternoon ST delights. Hehehe.

So, for those like me who are not interested in paying the BF, then use the same strategy as before. Pay the higher prices for the drinks and use your bar time to make friends and distribute your cell number and wait for the booty calls.

The Koreans. Some long terms westerns believe that the Koreans come here on package deals, booked and paid for in Korea. The package includes: flights; hotel and some kind of BF quota. The hotel will then pay the bars at the end of the month for each hotel guest. Perhaps the bars give the hotels some kind of bulk discount on BF quotas etc. So the Koreans do not payout for each BF as it is packaged in the original holiday deal. And with the price hike, the travel agent / hotel may absorb the price hike partially.

Nevertheless, I still believe the price hike will impact on foreigner casual BFs.

The instigator of the price hike was the new Broadway lease holder, Korean. The PH owner asked a certain monthly price for the lease, the Korean agreed and now realizes he has overpaid and feels the pain so he needs to raise cashflow. Visitor numbers to Sabang have been on the decline since the economic crisis and this will continue. So the pain for business operators here will increase over time.

Despite the appearance that Koreans have some kind of superior business savy, they will make mistakes like westerners with business and investment decisions. So I will not lose sleep if / when they (Koreans) crash and burn.

Previously the barfine in Sabang was 1000, with the girl getting a 1000 tip the next morning, for a total of 2000 pesos.

Yes, the bar owners have got together and agreed to raise the barfines to 3000, 1500 for the bar and 1500 for the girl. Drinks have also increased 25. The reason is the Koreans come to the bars early, barfine girls and don't spend money on drinks. Western Foreigners like me tend arrive later, party in the bars with the girls, buy drinks and then bar fine the girls. The first night after the increase in bar fine, very very few girls were barfined. The business model of Koreans barfining the girls and not spending money in the bars will evening cause the bars to fail. Most of the bars are owned by Koreans now. This issue was eventually going to come to a head so it will be interesting to see what happens next.

It is the obvious alternative for those seeking diving with nightly entertainment. My last trip the total price was the same as Sabang's old rates at 1500+500. It will be interesting to see if the 500 has grown to 1500. I must admit though that Sabang always represented better value interms of looks and their general attitude of keep the punters happy and they will come back. It will be a pity if that has disappeared.

I was in Subic 2 weeks ago and Subic bars have improved since I was there 3. 5 years ago but still not enough girls. For me, good bars in Subic are Wet Spot and Lips. Diving and girls are still a lot better in Sabang than Subic but Subic is a good change especially if your are a fan of wreck diving. [url]www.subicdive.com[/url] Is a good dive shop and they have basic rooms as well. The dive shop at Blue Rock has closed but the rooms and food are still good. Subic bars tend to get busy later, like after 11pm so don't be surprised if you are the only customer in the bar at 9pm.

If I was a bar owner in Sabang, I would set my bar fine to 2000p until 10pm, then 1000p after 10pm. This keeps a good proportion of the girls in the bar until later when the punters have had enough drinks. There are plenty of non-girlie bar in Sabang like Marty's and Tamarind if you want to have cheap drinks.

If anyone knows of another good dive place in Philippines with girlie bars, please let us know.

Stuff like normal bars where you can pick up "amature or normal" locals and expats. Also, some mongering bars where you pick up p2ps. Any other tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

One girl from Village Bar (Korean owned) and a 3K BF, told me many girls are leaving, especially, the ones that do not fit the narrow profile that the Koreans like. This trend is probably happening in the other 3K bars also.

(Correction from previous post, Venus is also a 3K bar).

Those koreans that are not on a holiday / girl quota package pre-paid in korea, now invade the 2K bars and swipe all the decent girls by 8pm.

The korean invaders will burn themselves eventually unless they can maintain the flow of pre-paid punters shipped in by the boatload.

Only western dumbass tourists and lonely koreans will pay 3K for korean rejected prospects, in Sabang at least.

Another rumor. A 2 pricing system is developing. 1 for koreans and blowins, and 1 for expats. If you are in one of the 3K bars and want a girl, talk to the mama, say you are a resident and she may allow the girl to go with you for 2K. My friend was in Venus the other night and the mama made the 2K offer.

On a lighter note, the dry season is approaching with the promise of bluesky days, great swimming and exploring some of the 'secret' beaches for afternoon snorkels and snacks.

You can also go to Costa Rica. The majority of the mongers will be American. Virtually no Koreans around.
