Some recent experiences in Bangkok
I was recently in Bangkok and Pattaya and would like to report some of my experiences. Perhaps the information may be useful for some fellow mongers. This part here covers my time in Bangkok, while the Pattaya part is in the Pattaya forum.
I stayed for 3 days and 4 nights, and had my hotel in the NEP (Nana Entertainment Plaza) area. Despite the late arrival on day one, I went out. However, it was one of the Buddha celebrations, so on July 15 and 16, the gogo bars were closed. But not so the disco 'Nana Liquid'. The selection there was not really special, but I picked a nice freelance lady with a nice smile. Most of the time, this is a good sign. So was it this time. She was not so young anymore and had a child (which was visible) , but she was a really good performer. I think that I even could have done her bareback if I liked. She had offered ST for 2000 and LT for 3500 respectively 3000, 'if you are good', she told me. I replied that I might keep her for LT, in case she performs well. In my room, she continued eating her squid, and I took a shower. She also emptied my fruit basket in the meantime. Then, after she also had taken her shower, she wanted me to give her the condom. I pretended ignorant and said that I don't know what is a 'condom'. She insisted a couple of times and became visibly upset. Then, I told her that I have condoms, but I will take them out and she is not going to control me this way. The continuation was then mixed as was the start. In Bangkok, I stayed at the Majestic Grande in Soi 2 (near the Bangkok JW Marriott). This is very convenient in walking distance from NEP, and it is a more upscale hotel. However, this time, it looked like little Bahrain. There were plenty of Arab families. And this pretty conservative environment is not necessarily what you expect for mongering. On the other hand, it was never a problem to bring any girl to the room (I never tried more than one). In half of the cases, they asked for her I'd, in the other cases, nobody asked. The hotel is recommendable if you like some very nice and clean room. It also appears that my room was non-smoking, which is a firm preference for me.
Here also my impression of some bars. Both, Temptations and Casanova bar employ (exclusively?) Ladymen (Katoey). Rainbow 4 is a good place with plenty of girls, some very pretty. However, when I visited the place, there was bad smell (from food or smelly people – or both) , so I did not feel comfortable and had to leave. G-spot is average. But there are some cuties and gems in most of the bars. Sometimes it is even better in a small bar, with one or two beauties.
Most of the bars charge a barfine of 600 baht. The girls usually ask for 2'200 baht for ST and 3'000 baht for LT. This is the standard in most gogo bars. In a few exceptions, the girls charge only 1'500 for ST and 2'500 for LT, and the freelance from Nana Liquid charged 2'200 baht for LT, and of course, there was no barfine. It turned out that the prices are equal in Bangkok and Pattaya (my next station after Bangkok).

Another word on taxis- common sense

I would rather spend less time sitting in a traffic jam, which they are happy to do if the meter is running.
I think if you offer them a fixed rate (which may be twice what the meter says) they will avoid the traffic and get you where you are going faster.
Every time I told them to turn on the meter I ended up sitting in traffic for an hour.
If I told them. I will give you 100 baht (or 200) to take me to XXX- then they always seemed to take back streets and I was there in no time.
So the bottom line is, this is their ONLY WAY to make a living. Of course they are trying to maximize their income- offer them the opportunity to do that and they will be happy and give you a faster ride. What's 3 or 6 bucks extra compared to an hour in BKK traffic jam
