Dear Chimmy31, when taking into consideration the opinions and suggestions that people offer on this forum, I humbly suggest the following: you must try to understand who are the expats and/or long timers, and who are the newbies or “once in a while” guys.
Those with a lot of mileage will generally warn you about a lot of stuff, complain about prices and locals, rip-offs, stupid tourists, and such.
They are often right in their assessments.
They speak from experience, they have to manage their finances, and they don’t feel like a kid in a candy store anymore.
Those who only visit every now and then will generally marvel at the beauty of the girls, the cheap prices, the overall fun they had, the nice locals.

On holiday for a few days, you feel like a kid in a candy store, don’t know if you’re being cheated 20 baht, don’t really care anyway.
If you take the time to read the last 20 pages of the Pattaya thread you’ll find a lot of ecstatic reports, and a lot of moaning.
It happens everywhere around the world and everywhere on the ISG threads.

But I doubt you’d find many expats encouraging you to do the same.

I think as someone who’s already spent about 1.500 euros in flight and accommodation alone: what’s 50 more for trying something I may never have the chance again?
The expat thinks as someone who sees 2.000 baht as the equivalent of 3 or more Beach Rd girls.
It’s up to you to understand and evaluate the vision of which group you are most likely to share.
Of course, you MUST READ THE FUCKING FORUM.

Remember a post about Bangkok Beat, in which a bad band was mentioned. I was in Bangkok Beat last night.
Some renovation was done since my last visit, the bar was moved, the customer seats area is now better situated opposite of the stage. Quite well done.
Back to the band that one playing until midnight is not worth to be mentioned. But afterwards an awesome band plays (yesterday approx. Until 2 am, sadly the late night spots close right now at around 2 am, government order, we usually have this phenomenon around election times). The band is possibly the best I have ever heard in Bangkok. The drummer was obviously born with sticks in his hands, and the bassist has music in his blood.
Action ok, not too many tourists in Bangkok right now, but a good crowd at Bangkok Beat. Solely the band is worth to go there after midnight.

For me (staying mostly in Soi 6) it was the ultimate after hours bar.
I left BKK 2 weeks ago and stayed on that time for some weeks in Bangkok, visited this place between 6 till 8 time.
Mid August they where renovation the bar.
Mostly I was their after 2 AM. Play some rounds of pool and enjoy the music and the girls.
The lady singer from the band has a great voice.
There are (where) always girls that you could find earlier in places like Sanooke, Guillivers and Country Road.
Girls that do not go to Climax or Insomia but girls who are looking for the same.
Often I had a succesfull pick up from there (but always between 3 and 4 AM).
I hope that after the election time they return to their old opening times.

I am going to BKK in November. First time. I decided to do a little research on places I might visit, and created a map that should be useful. I thought others might like to see it and make suggestions. A couple of notes: 1) I'm only going to be on the ground for a week, so obviously I won't be going to all these places; 2) I am staying at Town Lodge, Sukhumvit Soi 18; 3) I didn't bother noting individual places in Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza; and 4) Hyatt Regency is on the map because I know the band there, although I also understand Spasso is a place for some freelance girls.
