Some are puta de sangue as they say in Brasil- hoe in the blood. Some are dirt poor.

Some have 4/5 family members depending on them and a sick parent-some do it to get through university, some do it untill they are too old.

Some do it 1 month and never again. It is alot of money to suddenly not have -I find this the major obstacle for GDP trying to quit.

That level of income- maybe 600 reais a day for some is not possible without a great job.

What are the alternatives?

Get married to a gringo, have a kid- (in Brazil they make you pay up! You will get a permanent residence in exchange.

Get married and then get divorced.

I met one recently who just turned 18 and has 2 parents with cancer and 4 others depending on her.

She has done it 1 month but wants to quit and study ASAP.

I don't believe those will return.

Avoid marriage and enjoy each other's company I say.

Contacted a Mulata from this site age 25. She says she's at University. I arranged to meet
her at 13.00 and she says she's going to be abit late. I started to think it maybe a fake profile
as she kept delaying until she finally shows up at 14.40. Lucky as I was about to cab it 502.

Been reading the thread for a number of weeks now, any reliable sources on where I can find up to date pricing for the likes of 4 x 4 & Monte Carlo?

Have come across various wikis but some seem to be out of date.

Going to be in Rio next month & want to plan my itinerary, definitely hoping to get a dupla on the go in either or both.

Am also interested in the likes of Eden Spa & [URL]http://viptherapy.com.br/[/URL] which have their prices listed upfront on their sites.

Also will I be in trouble at the likes of the aforementioned if I don't speak any Portuguese?

Fellas, I know I PMd some of you in regards to a spring break trip to Rio. I've decided against it and instead will be coming down end of the year 2016, even possibly early 2017.

My 3 main reasons are this.

1. I'd like to spend 8-10 weeks in Brazil rather than a meager 10 days. I have a 4 month downtime due to change of jobs and I'll have some good savings to travel pretty well.

2. I will really need to learn some Portuguese to really enjoy my stay. I speak English and some French. I think 8 months of study with courses and weekly Portuguese meetups should have me at an advanced conversational level.

3. Better prices. With Olympics around the corner, I want to go during low season to get the best bang for my buck.

I'll still keep and eye out on this blog and will keep the members that PMd me some useful info updated on my progress.

It's summer for them, all the semi's are back home from college and want to make some extra $$ The rentals are cheaper (it is a totaly shit show for new years and prices are insane! Stay there, lock something down before carnival if you want and then enjot that lovely time. I've gone a bunch and January is hands down ALWAYS my favorite.

It is too hot for my liking but what's said is true.

All the girls want to be around for carnival to make $.

Bear in mind school / uni / work starts again after carnival so girls are suddenly tied up weekdays daytime or night time some times (study hours in Brazil are many times either day OR night.

My favorite time is April to end of June and September to end of November-purely climatic as 45 + degrees kills me. I did Rio once mid Jan. Never again. And this time in February from 23rd was pretty bad too-climate wise.

Girls are hungry all year.

By all means learn. Price at MC last month was like 330 for girl for an hour,100 entry,110 for room. Its a costly place. 4 x 4 is a little less.

My biggest concern now, is how much Portuguese I will need to excel in both pro and non pro activity. I plan to be here for 8-10 weeks, but plan to study portuguese at my local university here in the USA for 4-5 months before hand. Also, there are some bi-weekly Portuguese meet up groups I plan to attend as well. Could you give me some advice as to how I should approach studying portuguese.

Obviously you won't get to know them in any depth due to lack of porto.

The upmarket spots have girls who speak a bit of english.

I would say it took me 8 months before I started having major success with non-pros off Brazil cupid where I've met basically all my non-pros bar a few.

I had one-to-one lessons in portugues on skype-more intense but I also went there every 3 months for 3 weeks and spoke as much as possible so I could learn the real speed / lingo as much as possible.

For me to have like girlfriends in normal manner took over a year of speaking ID say.

It is critical in Brazil to speak.

ID say 90% of the girls I've been with-even turning gdps in termas into mini girlfriends would never have been possible without portugues.

None of the girls I met on cupid spoke english.

I've been hit by maybe 7-800 on there. None spoke really.

Dive in and emmerse yourself for the best cultural experience. I know dudes who still get gringoed somewhat on 5th visit + because they never bothered to learn. You just limit your opportunities to opportunists who flock to the tourist mouse-traps like MC, Centaurus etc.

Speed of talking is a shock when you land-this a teacher won't teach you so watching news, novellas etc will help.

Its still the hardest part for me to due the many accents, speeds there. Regional pronounciations vary alot. Minas, Nordeste, SP,Rio. All totally different. And in Rio you have many as well depending on social class, area etc.
