Many times I've passed through Hat Yai and also over the Malaysian Border on visits over the years.

It happens to be situated in a troubled 'region', but it's not something evident to casual visitors.

Government travel advisories tend to portray the entire south as though it will be like Helmand province.

Nowhere can be guaranteed 100% safe, but it certainly doesn't feel like a "war zone" to be in Hat Yai.

Any action in Koh Phi Phi?

I've been there once before, but with relatives so no sex. Do you have any girl friendly hotels to recommend. Are the bar area away from the family-action in Ao Nang or is it mixed with the main tourist area. Are there any P4P out on the Prah Nang peninsula?

I imagine the reason the P4P died down is simple lack of demand. Remember that Thailand is not all about sex tourism, there are lots of other things to do. Even in Patong, Phuket P4P has dwindled with the influx of families looking for a sun holiday.

There may still be some short-time / massage places in Krabitown. It's a good 20 minute ride by motorbike. Not really that great in my opinion.

No idea of the costs and services.[/QUOTE]Today around 3pm (Tuesday) I went back and had a look around. There are a few fishbowls but they had between 0 and 5 girls in them, while on Sunday afternoon the one I saw had maybe 10. But today lots of girls sitting at tables outside.

Visited 5 places and the price varied between 300 and 400 baht for 1 hour oil or thai massage. Mostly girls in late 20's and thirties with a few cute ones. Decided to go to the first place I visited (300 baht) as one of the girls sitting outside was cute and was very smiley (while most of the others looked uninterested or sullen.

We went up to the 3rd floor and she changed (shorts, tshirt) for the oil massage. I haven't had many massages (and rather new at mongering) but I would say the massage was good, not too soft and not too hard and she had good technique, she spent maybe half time on my legs, back and front, and my back and arms. I declined the head massage as I didn't want to get oily hair (newb here, would she have gone to wash her hands?)

She said the massage was over if I didn't want head massage so I asked about extras. No FJ, for HJ (1000 baht total) , covered BJ was 1500 and she refused my offer of 2000 for BBBJ. So I went with HJ.

I would rate 7/10 the HJ. I like her voice so I asked her to say naughty things while doing it and keep eye co.
