Look, you might as well just get it over with and go east.
I can't say anything about how much Kharkov's changed since 2009, I moved on. I can say that what I studied here proved to be true, in both what I experienced down south on the Volga, and because I have not read anything here, or seen enough fotos, to make me believe that I missed much in Kharkov, compared to the last 9 years traveling in the heart of our Motherland.
It can be kind of depressing dragging out some of the past glories, you know, there's no going back. Kiev itself was way off the charts before they bulldozed the little fountain and built the fucking mall underground, way back when mamachka Zhana ran her expensive dyevs agency in the Kyiv Post. Fuck, that's even before Mystery tramp and that whole ungodly era.
Please don't discount the importance of having the right acquaintances, unfortunately all of mine in Ukraine dried up. Still, I'm convinced if I had invested more time, spoke better Russian then, and made more of an effort to make the right friends, it surely could have kept me from leaving. For me, Russian pastures were much greener. You can't stop progress. Think about it, who would've ever imagined that Putin would outlaw smoking in bars? If that's doesn't tell you what you need to know, you might want to increase your Ritalin dose.
Sadly, what those early masters foretold has pretty much held true, which is why I really urge you boys to put away your scout uniforms, pull out your platinum cards, and like I said already, take a deep breath, and head for time zone UTC +6. Before the party's over. If for no other reason at all, pump some dollars into the Russian economy! No offense to Poroshenko, but Ukraine is no more than a remnant of what it was, the gangsters carved it up like cossacks eating crows.
Go on and mess with Texas, but please do NOT fuck with the Bear!
But if you insist on still wearing your scout uniform, knock yourself out eating prussian sausages in Koenigsberg.
It's not a dumb question.
Well, from you, it is pretty silly. You've been around long enough to know the answer yourself.
How many times do I have to say that whether you're fluent or not, if you are new in town, you need to make a lot of friends. The less fluent you are, the more you need at least a few friends that speak SOME english. It's not THAT hard to find, but it takes a lot of trying. Don't expect great results if you're not willing to put forth the effort. It's an investment. Shyness won't get you anywhere. Expect failure, get back up everytime you get knocked down. Take chances. Don't be too stupid, and be careful, but keep trying.
Progress, progress, progress! It's always the same. Are we talking about how great Czech Republic is? No, that was TWENTY years ago!
Look at it this way. Who needs help more? Moscow? Or UTC +6? Does that tell you where your offers of generous sponsorships will be more warmly welcomed?
In Moscow, you're just another foreigner. They've seen your ilk before, pretty much since the fall of communism.
They're still waiting for us, in the Wild Wild East.
Time marches on. Get over it.
Reading the posts here, for let's say the last 3 years, it reminds me of what you'd read on ISG about Prague back in the 2003 to 2006 years, that the Czech glory days are long gone.
Nobody was trying to say then that there weren't still hot ladies in Prague, and nobody is trying to say that about Kiev now either. But the relative ease for a tourist to hook up with 8's, 9's and 10's, which is a big chunk of what the membership posts about, is now really only within reach if you're an oligarch or mafia. How many oligarchs or mafia are posting here on ISG?
If you're in your 40's or 50's, and unless you happen to be Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, or George Clooney, do you honestly think you could just walk into some university English class in Kiev or Kharkov today and the reaction of the ladies would be, 'Oh wow! A western guy, cool! I want him to be my sponsor and go to bed with him because this is something new!
On the other hand, there's another large chunk of members that are more than satisfied to chase 6's and 7's and MILF's, etc. , and that's really what has dominated the boards for a a long time now, as far as positive results. Nothing wrong with that, its just that those ladies don't create much interest for some of us purists who are spoiled by past glories. We keep searching for the diamonds.
Check your maps please, UTC +6.
But if you're just determined to stay west of the Urals, at least explore the south. Rostov, Volgograd, Samara, on and on, these and many other heartland cities have not been westernized by mongers yet, to the point that it's time to give up and move on. They all need to be thoroughly explored, there are friendships to be made, and their economies need our full support. Give until it hurts, mongers! Stop whining, get your visas, step forward and do your duty!
