However there are for sure some exceptions to the North-South rule.
A few:
+ One of the most dangerous areas overall is SantaFe, which of course sits in the center north-south.
+ Parque LOS Hippies area & to the west across Carracas can be sketchy yet many consider it in the "North".
+ Some people consider the north to start around 72 (Ave Chile / Calle 72) in the center Chapinero. Others consider it around Zona T or El Virrey. Others consider the north to be Usaquen and above. So, it's relative. In general, all of those places are safe. But as you mention things happen everywhere and that's not unique to Colombia.
+ There are a few barrios peligroso in the north like cerro norte, santa cecilia, el castilo. But you're not likely to accidentally stumble into them.
+ Some not so great areas in Engativa, but you aren't likely to go there as a destination, but might travel through there on way to / from airport.
+ There really aren't any "gentrified" neighborhoods in the south that I am aware of. But there are some conjuntos or apartment buildings which for sure are safer than others.
Best advice of all is to not automatically think someone is trustworthy because they say they are from the north, nor to think someone is not a good person because they live in the south.
Loving Tantras at the moment
There are 2 nice, slim girls in Tantras at the moment that I've been having fun with. Since you never know the girls names up front it seems pointless to say their names. There are other reviews here of Tantras as well as my own but I'll write details for those that may be new to this.
Search google maps for Tantras spa. The spa location is a white door in between 2 shops (ferre pinturas and apicultura). Another visit I gave the girl 150 and she gave me the 40 mil back in change. My most recent one was a prior appointment with a girl and once up the stairs she took me to the room straight away and she took my 150 mil while I was waiting in the room. I was expecting change and she didn't give it to me and so when leaving I asked for it and she seemed reluctant about it but gave me change back. I think best practice though is to probably go there with the exact amount to give the girl behind the counter.
From here it depends. Sometimes the girl will confirm what you want before going into the room or leave to get freshened up. The general service included with the time paid with the girl at the counter is BBBJ and sex multiple positions with 1 shot. The rooms are small. Actually they're bare minimum.
