I have been getting great info from this forum; now my turn to share my experience.
First off getting to Tijuana. I took the 992 bus to American plaza (Braodway and Kettner stop) and then the blue trolley to the border.
2.25 for the bus, 2.50 for the train. 10 mins from the plane to the bus stop, 20 mins wait (bus was late), 10 mins to American plaza, few minutes to get the trolley ticket, 45 mins on the trolley.
About 90 mins overall to get to the border.
The actual border is to the left of the train (facing forward), I just followed the crowd.
There is a separate queue for Mexicans, I got in the foreigener queue. The lady on one of the desks let some gringos go without a stamp, they said they would come back later today or early tomorrow (short trip).
The got a burly old man, he did not say anything at all, made me fill a form and stamped my passport. Gave me a form to keep and return on my way back.
Good information about Cascades for the bros. I believe that 100%. On several occasions I have had bartenders, meseros, cashiers, etc conveniently forget to give correct change when paying in pesos and sometimes in dollars but 99% of the time I spend pesos. Not long ago a hotel clerk tried to short change me at Hotel Ibiza. I caught it and called him out. He then gave me the correct change and acted like it wasn't a big deal. Even the chica I took arriba was surprised about his actions. Bros make sure you are not distracted when it's time to receive your change. I count my change as I do anywhere in the States.
