Yes, I agree with Buttman it is hard to find cute young aussie chicks in Melbourne. Most of the aussie WL I have seen are older.
Daily Planet is relatively expensive but it is very close to where you are staying so it would be a good start. I went to top of the town in the city once and the aussie chick was cute but the service was so crap that I never went back.

There are a heap of up market brothels in the City (Boardroom, Gotham City etc) and I'm sure they would have more local talent.

Also there is a lot of Escort Agencies that advertise in the local Yellow Pages directory so that could be a good source if you want takeaway.

I've came upon an interesting scenario and would like some feedback and thoughts on the issue.

I have been visiting a Thai working girl multiple times now and its now at the point where I'm seeing her 'outside of the shop' as she says, as in dating with no money changing hands. I have spent some nights with her at my place and at hers once while in Bangkok. I actually like this girl and would like for something to happen.

Anyway, recently she has been dropping hints that she wants to stay permantly in Australia, yada, yada, yada and I'm like, ok here we go. Having visited Thailand 10 times in the past 6 years I know enough to know that you can't trust 99% of Thai girls when it comes to genuine relationships and the like.

Then, she said something that stopped me in my tracks. SHE will pay ME $20000 if I marry her. Whats going on here? Apart from being illegal (de-frauding the government in some way) I have never heard of this arrangement taking place. Usually its the guy fighting through the red tape and costs to secure the girl a visa......isn't it?

The funny thing is, I would consider doing it for nothing since I liike her, but I have this vison of her doing the runner after its all said and done.

Anyway, thought it was interesting and worth a post. Have also posted it in the Thai forum for responses.

Usually visa students are allowed to work up to 20 hrs per week, and there are generally no restrictions on the type of job or actual income. as long as it is reported to the tax man.

Marriages for money are probably not that rare, they just never get much publicity. There is nothing illegal in the marriage, it just becomes a bit hairy when she applies for a permanent residence visa, which is presumably what she is after and what she is paying you for.

I Think the current rules are (subject to Govt changes from time to time, check out the Immigration Dept web site for up to date policies):

1. You must be in a "genuine relationship", not necessarily married or even living together, for at least two years (with evidence to support it), before applying, then
2. there is usually another two year "bridging visa" period before it becomes permanent. This will also be subject to evidence of an ongoing "marriage" (you can usually get away with it in a de facto relationship during this time).

So you will have to put up with her (or v/v) for 4 years to complete your part of the "bargain". You might be "defrauding" the Government with this arrangement, but a lot of marriages end within 4 years these days, so they are unlikely to come after you unless you were doing this on a regular basis.

I have not touched on the "personal emotion" aspects, I see some of the Thailand guys have covered this.

Perhaps you could marry her, collect the $20K, and do a runner. Twelve months later you can divorce her.

The best method would be to sign a pre nup I guess, if you are going to go with it. There's really nothing to lose here, well. A couple of years, but are you looking to get married anyway? Or do you have anything planned with your life for that time? Try to get the money in advance, and make sure the pre nup agrees with the both of you.

I was so intrigued about the $20K that I overlooked the fact that she is entitled to HALF of everything when divorced. Guess the $20K is bait for the biggger fish that this Thai girl may catch.

i had a mate who did the 25 grand (usd$) thing. she was going to pay for all expenses and the usual mumbo jumbo. there were 2 motivational factors.

1) it was his fiancé's cousin and he was doing the family a favor
2) needed the dough and thought it was a good business opportunity

there were so many times i wanted to say "i told you so" but i restrained myself until one day we were drunk and i said it to him. now we are no longer mates.

Note that pre nups signed in Australia do not secure anything in court. I've got a friend that has learned a valuable lesson when he was sued for 50% of what he had plus ongoing support despite signing a pre nup. His wife didn't bring anything to this marriage but trouble. He had to compromise... At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is, who's got a better lawyer...

Also note that there are restrictions re how often one can marry and secure a spouse visa. As far as I know (and you may want to verify that on the web) you can do it only once every 5 years and up to 3 times.

Theoretically speaking, there is a chance that you may go overseas and meet the love of your life (guys, don't smile - some claim it can really happen... ;-) ); and you won't be able to get her to join you in Australia, as some years ago you wanted to help this girl /make some bucks.
