[b]2. HoJos[/b] - the band is good (did a good rendition of Pink Floyd’s “Brick in the Wall’), Howard Johnson Hotel top floor up the stairs AED 50 (was last time) at weekends
[b]3. Manila Bay[/b] – band OK, anything is better than Blitz at the moment. Emirates Plaza hotel, crowded, bad parking so take a taxi, have seen a few WGs there but obvious as with huge fat Arabs....and the girl looks decidedly embarrassed as she will know her countrymen will know she is a WG, AED 50 entrance at weekends
[b]4. Blue Bay[/b] – Tourist Club area by Abu Dhabi Mall. Band OK, did an acoustic type set last time but reasonable, mainly guys with only 1 girl singer, good AC and fans so you don’t smell the smoke even though your clothes will smell afterwards...AED 50 even for Filipinas at the weekend
[b]5. Cheers[/b] – behind Le Royal Meridien Hotel. Nice band – 2 of the four girls have good voice and IMHO nice bodies (MTraveller liked the other 2) but Niburu is the man for this place, he is a regular.....Enjoyed my time there and good food as well, AED 50 entrance (even for the Filipinas) at weekends unless you are really a regular I guess
[b]6. Tambayang[/b] – Al Ain Palace Hotel,. Band reasonable, small palce no cover charge at weekends, nice food IMHO
[b]7. 49ers[/b] – Dana Hotel,. Band great best in town IMHO, but not a Filipina palce just a good Filipina band. Any Filipinas in there quickly noticed by the punters, Kyla the other week had 3 numbers very quickly from just sitting there waiting for to get her drink (fast worker – she was definitely improving under her tutor :D)
The real pisser for me is not the band quality etc but this crazy entrance fee. I don’t drink (well so little that it never would register on any scale). So AED 50 for 2 drinks or sometimes 1 drink is, for me, an expensive bottle of water.
The above is not exhaustive and other places also have bands and Filipinas but they represent a good cross section of Abu Dhabi. You could even go to Chow King and meet them if you try (LT and I have discussed this possibility already :D).
If I have forgotten any forgive me I am human and old :D (maybe even odd but that is rhetorical guys...)
