I don't see how it could be distasteful when they have an altar smack dab in NEP. But who knows.

I did it too if you see my post on my first BKK experience.
My gal was a very average looking Thai gal and did not look out of place. I am an Asian so I guess I did not feel out of place (I go to temples often).
The people around us were from all colors - there were whites, locals, middlemen, everything (no racial comment intended here)... and my gal actually prayed (I did too) and she donated some money in the charity box.
We sat in the sanctity of the temple for a while and then left. On being asked, she told me later that she does not frequent that temple but I am sure she must be going to some temple coz she prayed and did it well...
As long as there is no obviously wrong thing that you do at a place of worship - I think all religions / cultures are very accepting of other religion people to come to their place of worship (no religious comment intended, just a personal feeling).
I think you should be fine doing that :), take it easy!
Is it distasteful to take prostitutes to temples and other religious sites?
I do not think it is distasteful as a girl is only a prostitute by Profession and not by nature. Think of it as you taking a Woman to a temple.
Having said that, I would personally not do it.
Is it distasteful to take prostitutes to temples and other religious sites?
Are you mad? Given that for men, if you mess up (get caught with a girl by the wife, kill someone, rob someone, get done for drugs etc.) lots of them shave their head and go and be monks, its very very harmless being a *****.
Thai prostitutes also donate a lot of money to the temples, in exchange for lots of good luck and nice farang to marry chants and prayers, so if anyone is not welcome at a temple, its probably a good honest person who wants nothing more in their life. As these people tend not to need to pay too much money to the monks for blessings and good luck ahead.

Here is the situation. I picked up a girl from Long Gun one night and we hit it off great. Ended up going long time and kept her all night. She was phenomenal! Horny as hell. The next day we got up and had breakfast together. I was expecting her to leave but she wanted to stay with me for the day. OK, sure why not. All I had planned for that day was a walking tour that I had printed up from the Internet that inlcuded the Golden Mount, Loha Prasat, the monk bowl village, the giant Swing and another what that was near by.
I must say that we had a great time. There was a lot of walking involve and a bit of me getting us turned around and lost once or twice but she never complained or looked upset or unhappy. It was also nice having someone to hand the camera to whenever I saw a picture that I wanted to be in.
I became accutely aware that maybe this wasn't a good idea. When we went to the Golden Mount she spent a few of her own baht and bought some incense, a candle and gold leaf and did a bit of a kneeling and praying thing before an idol of Buddha. She was aware that her thong underware was sticking out whenever she was in this position. She tried to hide it but wasn't doing a very good job.
In the mean time I stood in the background reverently with my shoes and hat removed, taking photos of the absolutely beautiful works of art that were there, including the image of Buddha. I tried to translate this whole situation to something that I could relate to back in the States but couldn't.
The only thing I could come up with is an imaginary situation in some place like New York City. How would I feel if rich Arab Muslims routinely came over and picked up hookers from a well known red light district, lets call it little Arabia. And these women were not high class prostitutes but from the poorer section of the country, lets say the back woods and hills of West Virgina. Something akin to "white trash", "Jerry Springer" material. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I was told that bar girls are not looked upon very highly in Thai society). Not only do these imaginary Arabs come over to have fun with cute white girls they find so attractive but they also have the audacity to venture with them outside of the "zone" and take them around the city to where else, but some nice historic Cathedrals around town. These girls, who are probably inappropriately dressed, go in and kneel and pray while their companion, politely stands in the background photographing the site and situation.
I don't know how I would feel if I was a local and was sitting the pew next to such a girl who walked in. Would I be upset that she's disgracing the sanctity of a holy site or would I feel good that this Muslim has brought this woman of the sheets to kneel before God?
Hi,
As a old hand who has worked and lived on & off in Thai, I can tell mixed marriages are quite common, not only in BKK, travel the length & breath of the country and you will find mixed couple.
The only way people will know your with BG, the dress, as long as she does not wear a dress which tell screaming "Prostitute", your will not will give a second look. The sad part given there profession, the dress speaks loud about the work.
There are BG’s who know how dress decently & behave once they move out of bar, they are all like normal TG. In my early days travel to BKK in 90’s, yes I did go BG’s and I would insist that they dress normal and if she did not a dress I would just buy them a decent dress in Suk. , so that they walk the shame, like any other cornmeal TG when getting into the hotels, Temples, Mall, ects. , I did go to the temples with a them and they would pray and no body noticed them as long as there dressing gels with the Thaïs.
Given there Buddhist following BG would not go to temple dress in there working clothes as they know it is disrespect.
Nothing wrong in going to temples mates, just make sure you respect the religion & behave what is required in the surrounding around and carry your self. End of the end, she might be prostitute but she is like any normal human being who is forced into the business for what ever reason. Now I have TG wife and I never felt how people look us at us. All they think she lucky one to get hooked to a ATM? .
Cheers

I agree. I once took a girl from LL to Wat Phra Kaew (sp?). She enjoyed going there with me; yes, she too lit a few incense sticks and did her prayers. It helped that she was dressed to blend in, wearing jeans, a polo shirt and no makeup. Not sure what I would have done if she was wearing the dress from the night before, but she went home to change then came back before we went without me saying anything about it.
I've stayed in the Landmark 6 months ago, no problem at all taking your girl with you.
Nice hotel with excellent bar/restaurant downstairs.
Rolo
Mate,
Did you look at the Bartendee's in the Hunthmens's there is one who is pretty good in the sack. I know here for the last 3 yrs., and when I can get a break feom my TG wife I drop to see her. It is pretty good place.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but she has as much right to travel freely with you as anyone else. Moreover, churches and temples were built for sinners, not holy people. For all that I know, the hooker sitting next to me may be praying for me.

I think that its quite OK to take any girl in any place she want to go.
I have only got negative reaction from girls when we talkes about gogo bars - if they where freelance or something like that.
The Davis is pretty nice but last time I stayed there i took 2 girls home and they insisted that I pay a joiner's fee for the second one. They told me one gal was "free" but that I needed to pay 500 bath for the 2nd...
Aventura,
If you are looking for hotels in the caliber fo JW Marriott, you should perhaps try the Davis at the end of soi 22 where it meets soi 24 or the Dream hotel on Soi 15.
1Ball mentions livingstones, but truly, that is nowere near the class of the aforementioned locations. Plus, there is no drama with Davis or Dream. Livingstones is a has-been old lodge on a has-been old street. Nothing good coming out of there, for sure.
You may also want to consider a serviced apartment. There are many discussed here. And you will have complete privacy with all the pampering of a first class hotel.
Hi Guys
I just read all the reports since the beginning of Feb.
Could you please let me know if the smoking ban is enforced in NEP and Cowboy?
Cheers
PS: no lectures on cancer please :-)
The last thing anybody should do is project American-style religious wackiness onto Buddhism. Who is the sinner: The girl who performs a service for another human being, or the man who is ruled by his desires?
Leave an offering.

Let's all agree, that, providing she and you are appropriately dressed, there is nothing against taking prostitutes to temples and other religious sites.
It is a totally different matter however, if you try to take a prostitute in temples and other religious sites.
