1. Did you ever go to the Dos Laredos Hotel Bar or the Rumba Bar?
2. Would any of the following hotels be any cheaper than the Dos Laredos Hotel or 180 pesos / night for a private room with private bathroom & shower?
The Hotel Sabinas at the southeast corner of Victoria & Ocampo, or the Hotel Matamoros at Matamoros 414, or the Hotel Sam's next door to the Montera Bar, or the Hotel Asturias at Hidalgo 2721, or the Hotel Ramirez just south of the southwest corner of Hidalgo & Galeana?
I would recommend Hotel Fiesta. I have stayed at Hotel Fiesta many times, I stay there when ever I go to Nuevo Laredo. It's nothing fancy, the rooms are clean with a TV, the air conditioners work very well & you have hot water when you take a shower. Hotel Fiesta rates are 410 Pesos a night, it is located at 559 Ocampo. It is right down the street from the Herradura Bar.
Wow, it was very accurate and this was only your first trip. You are very observant and have good memory. I think once you visit NL a couple more times, the girls will get used to seeing you and will be more friendly. I also think that everyone, especially the girls, were on edge because of the violence. As someone reported, many of the regular girls did not show up. But you were also correct to point out that NL is not Tijuana or Costa Rica.
Fiesta Hotel is the best for us mongers. It is close to the bars, it's cheap, clean, and the front desk staff is great. They watch everyone going in and out. It is very safe.
Actually Montera being in a basement is very safe from an outside bomb. It is like a bunker. The only danger is if someone brings a bomb inside. Whoever knows the owner (Bbond?) should tell him to have guards check all bags, packages, etc. At the entrance, especially vendors and shoe-shine boys as they carry containers large enough to conceal bombs.
Indonesia, the Philippines and some areas of Thailand are under serious threat from Islamist terrorists. For example, bombs have gone off inside night clubs Bali. All public places (bars, hotels, malls, restaurants, etc.) have security guards at entrances. The bigger facilities even have metal detectors and scanners. The tourists never stop coming to those places.

When you say the "tourist market", do you mean the Mercado Maclovio Herrera bounded by Guerrero, Hidalgo, Matamoros, & Belden?[/QUOTE]That hotel bar, no way, that's a seedy locals area. La Rumba is owned by the same people that had La Mina, sometimes is pretty cool to hang in, Margaritas are outstanding there.
Hotel Sabinas I am not familiar with at all. Sams and Asturias are dumps, and I mean dumps, used mainly as short time places for girls to take guys.

My friend talked me into going down to NL on Saturday. I was a little apprehensive to go considering the recent car bombing in front of Danash, the firebombs in the discos, etc. But off we went. I had a weird vibe that something bad was going to go down, and although it didn't, there were a couple of interesting moments that scared the crap out of me.
We go down to the Fiesta Hotel at about 5pm. We checked in and then went across the street for a shrimp cocktel. This place makes them great. They put a hell of a lot of shrimp in the glass.
The first interesting moment was when we were sitting there eating our shrimp cocktails and noticed a brand new Chevy pick up truck drive by. All the windows were heavily tinted. The driver stopped in front of where we were sitting, rolled down his window and stared my friend and I down. I noticed there were three other guys in truck. Anyway, after staring us down, the driver rolled his window up and drove on by. I told my friend that I was freaked out by this and that we ought to finish our shrimp cocktails and get back into the hotel. Well, much to my consternation, we noticed the truck at the corner, ready to make a left turn and drive by us again. We proceeded to take a position behind the vendor stand so as not to be seen as the truck drove right by the stand. The driver very slowly inched the truck in front of the stand and then it stopped. My friend and I proceeded to walk very slowly to the right behind the truck and high tailed it into the hotel. My heart was pounding out of my chest as I had visions of a couple of AR15s going off. Mistaken identity, whatever.
The second interesting moment occurred when my friend and I decided to go up to NLBT at around midnight. I had hooked up with a sweet little blond from Montera and she told me she wanted to go with us to NLBT. She called a friend who pulled up in front of La Montera to give us a ride up there. When we were getting in his car, a couple of young punks pulled up next to our car and one of the guys started cussing out and flipping off my friend for no reason. My friend made some sort of comment like."oh, you're a bad ass!" This prompted the driver to stop the car and the idiota started to get out of the car to come after my friend. I told my friend to hurry up and jump in our car. That we don't know if this dude was packing a pistola or what. He jumped in and we sped off. I jumped all over my friend to never react to stuff like this and to avoid any potential confrontations. Unless he prefers to get his ass shot.
Anyway, now completely freaked out, we head up to NLBT. We drove by Danash to check it out for damage after the car bombing the previous week. It was closed. We didn't see any structural damage at all. Only that the cloth awning out front was not there. Probably burned down. NLBT was slow. Only Marthas, Safari and Fuentes open. We went into Fuentes (next door to Danash) and had some drinks while listening to some Bee Gees and Carlos Santana live. We drove back downtown and my girl and I headed over to Herradura, which is open until 4:00am. Bbond came over to our table and we met each other for the first time and talked for awhile until the bar closed. It was nice to finally meet Bbond.
I was thinking that the La Montera would be slow but it was in fact pretty darn busy. I saw a lot of regulars back and had a great time there. I really like my little blond girl that I met there. Unlike many of the girls at Montera, she is extremely tranquila and low maintenance. She has a perfect little bod and is just a sweetheart. We ended up spending the night at Fiesta and had breakfast the next morning to end the trip.
Keep your eyes and ears open if you plan on coming down here. Be aware of your surroundings at all times and avoid confrontations at all costs.
Came across once again Friday evening. I stayed at the Fiesta for one night. I like it, but have been spoiled after I had room 120 a few times and could not get it on this trip. I never seem to get it after 5:00pm. Go figure.
Anyways, If you do go, and check in, make sure U-turn on the shower and make sure it works and is hot before you unpack (may take a few before it gets hot). Been in that situation a few times and the last thing you want is to unpack, and then get ready for a shower, and it is on the fritz. Anyways, the night guy is cool (from 11pm to 7am).1/2 manager / 1/2 security. All-in-all a good dude. I usually arrive back with a cold Coke for him.
So, to the bar scene. Went to bar Montera on Friday. Was just OK. Was packed, but IMHO with 4-5's. Now, for those that have been down here a few times, that changes with the wind. Not sure why and there appears to be no rhyme or reason. Some days good, some days bad? After Montera closes I usually truck down to where those two girls create the delicious tacos / quesadillas. Right behind there is a bar. Not sure of the name but he opens most times. He doesn't put up with crap and tries but for the most part, but, it is just a bar that is open after the masses leave the Montera.
Funny thing watching all those that were at Montera end up there. The good, bad, and ugly, including myself of course.
Note: If you are F'd up please be careful of the scammers. I don't want to get into details here but just keep your eyes open and if you are wasted well shame on you!
The other bar, as has been mentioned here (Herradura) , is across the street from that. I don't really go in there much as, well, not sure, just something isn't really right with it. Just my. 02 folks.
Next day I switched to the Matamorus Hotel. If you go to the Montera all the way to the stop sign (50 feet) and the end of the block, it is to the right about 50 feet.
Great people. Just pay him and you are in. Eclectic rooms. The price is a tad more but the rooms are like, well, (just my. 02) , like when you were in high-school and that was your bedroom in your parents house. Anyways, again, good guy. Pay with pesos and save. Tell him you stayed there before and payed 400. Trust me on that.
So, day 2, Saturday. I am having issues with finding stuff to do during the day. Sure, I can eat some tacos, I can shop, bla bla bla. But, for the most part, it is not like Rio, LOS or ant other place fI have been. And that's OK! I get it. Nuevo Laredo is not a real mongering place (like Rio or LOS (massages, beach, etc.).
BUT, But. I have been in Montera a few times and you CAN find some good afternoon talent there. Not bad to say the least! I am not saying you will, but you CAN. Some of these girls will not stay in the evening. Or at least they say they won't. So good luck and if anything, it's a great place to have a cold one when it's 103 degrees out here!
OK, that evening went to Montera. Saw some good friends. There were some girls there that threw me off. A table or 2 were like 8's. But, they appeared to be NO P2P. I pretty much confirmed that. Given the music (which is great) I figure perhaps some college chicas just wanting to hear music (but in a place like Neuvo Laredo). Ahh, whatever.
Lastly. To someones comment. I think the security / helper dude at Montera is gone. We all know him so I don't need to mention names. They "appear" to have some older cat at the door that looks at gives a yay or nay when he can at the bottom of the stair. Anyways, it is like a bunker so I am not really concerned unless someone walks in with a bomb. Then we are all Mongers of the past. Later and be safe. Make sure your taco wears a condom.

These guys don't want to cause problems for Americans, we are a very good money supply, they don't want to mess that up. Just act normal, trying to duck out of sight makes them wonder what you are up too. Don't give them a reason to suspect anything, if they want you they will get you, make no mistake about that.

He was asked the purpose of his visit. He was new here, and has a sort of military type look to him, they asked if he was a Marine. Freaked him out. He headed towards the bridge, stopped in Parrillitas, called me. I walked down and met with him, walked with him back, reassuring him not to be concerned.
Anyone here going to be in NL this evening? I'm just going for the night and didn't want to try it solo. First time trying to monger on this side of earth LOL.

By the way, when we met up at La Herradura early Sunday morning, did you tell me that you saw my girl from Montera that night? You know, the tall one from El Salvador? I thought I may have briefly seen her. Looked like she got her hair cut and colored lighter. Wearing some sort of gold colored outfit. Not sure if it was her though. I checked out Matamoros Hotel a couple of times but didn't feel right to stay there. It looked like a family-run hotel and I was not comfortable bringing chicas in couple of times a day / night. Am I wrong? Are they very chica-friendly, even late at night?
If you paid 400p then it's cheaper than Fiesta which is 410p. You said the rooms are better?

Both are chica friendly, Matomoros will rent rooms for an hour. Next trip, stay there one night, if you like Fiesta better, change.

Next trip, stay there one night, if you like Fiesta better, change.[/QUOTE]Greetings Bbond, I've been following this forum for some time now and have seen that, aside from you knowing most of reputable places to stay and which ladies to hitch with in the clubs, as well as the ins and outs of what goes on in the downtown club scene and NLBT, you have from time to time met up with differenct people who may be members of this forum but are new to the downtown club scence or just to wary of going across alone. I see in the forum reports that some of the members actually give you a call to meet up with you. Hence, my question to you. How are such rendevous to hang out coordinated? I've been a veteran to the NLBT scene for over 25 years. Since my highschool days living in Laredo. Over the many years I used to go regularly with a buddy of mine, but since his wife started wearing the pants at home his wings were clipped and his balls put in a jar on the shelf. No more going out or trips to NL for him. Which incidentally has left me as a lone wolf. I have some cautious reservations about going to the clubs downtown alone and was wondering how to hook up with you. I realize that phone numbers and e-mails cannot be exchanged on this forum, which makes it a little more challenging.
Bbond is a great guy to hangout with and the information and knowledge he provides is very usefull I hope to be down there myself at the end of June. Bbond I will call you soon for some intel.
