I am sure someone has been stabbed there almost every day. Its a tough neighborhood. After dark I would take a taxi whenever I go to the clubs of Santa Fe, and even then some of the taxi drivers have told me they do not want to go into Santa Fe. During the day while walking from Santa Fe district I was followed by some weirdo homeless guy shouting at me, and had to duck into a restaurant to shake him.

Luckily never had an issue in this area and I walk to Santa Fe 3-4 times a day and back again from 12 noon up until 1 am. I've taken a shortcut to get to Santa Fe and every time I think " what are you doing" I'm amazed I've not been robbed yet, the amount of shady characters and homeless I walk past is crazy. I'the say the hotel itself is good value and very safe in the daytime, at night it can be quite a little too quiet in the area and you need to keep your whits about you.

I blend in well I have walked home from SF at late hours many times (like last night) without problems of course some guys are more inviting targets I guess.

The police have the area covered well. Colomnbian people outside of the area are the most fearful but there are plenty of taxis there. Many of the people in the area are very poor but many middle class too I think there is much more tolerance between the classes and races here. I also think the North is where you have real pros hunting gringos like the US diplomat who was murdered in a failed cab abduction a while back. Anyhow-- just my 2 cents.

In general:

Club girls in Santa Fe- the girls range from 80-150 depending on what you want. And in general 120 k seems to be the standard at least for me which included BBBJ, DFK (some would do this well and others wouldn't), DATY and multiple positions. I forget the price now but since everything hovered around 150 k I believe I took her up for 120 k and tipped her at the end. Every other night I was there Paisas was dead (including Friday and Saturday) with better talent in the other clubs.

Troya. You can't really go wrong in here. Yes, sometimes there might not be one to your liking and you'll end up in another club but if you're here over a few days you'll hook up with a girl from here at least once. Antones. I usually find 1 girl in here worth it but this trip it just wasn't happening for me here. Casas. Tantra spa. Honestly you can't go wrong with this place. I was there almost every day of my 5 day trip. There were usually 8-12 girls. All doable. All body types. All looking in their early 20's. Every girl I was with was compliant and did everything I wanted. The cost for 30 minutes was 50 k and I just did all the extras for an additional 100 k. The girls don't expect a tip as I actually think all the extras cost 80 k and they just say 100 k so that a tip is built in for them. All will let you DFK, DATY and cum on tits or mouth. So just for ease of use it was great. There's a mall nearby (Avenida Chile mall) perfect to freshen back up afterwards in the little small food court area.

Tips:

1) Don't go into the clubs of Santa Fe with large bills. The mesero will literally take forever trying to find you change if you only buy 1 poker beer and pay for it with a 50 k (or worse will just disappear). Head to oxxo, etc and buy something small to get change and plan to pay for drinks with either 10 or 20 k bills.

2) screw the transmillenio unless you take steps to not be a victim of pickpocketing. Despite the few reports of stabbings and / or muggings on here, I have been to Bogota as a solo white male traveller 5 or 6 times now. I have not had a problem however I have had a problem with pickpockets and once again some douche tried to pickpocket me while getting into a crowded bus. Honestly, uber and didi are not that much more than the bus and just easier so I just recommend doing that unless you want to stay as cheap as possible. Just don't have stuff in your pockets. The people that do this often work in groups and they're good.

Restaurant ideas: don't listen to the people that say Bogota doesn't have good food. There's loads of good food. If it's your first time then try a visit to La Perseverancia Market for lunch or a late breakfast. Compania Casa Del Rey is close enough to Santa Fe and has some nice options. Pastelera Florida while not the best is easy and good. Those are 3 places near or around the Hotel Ibis worthwhile to check out. There are loads more. Visit some good coffee places as well.

From Ibis I always like walking down carrera 7 and then turning the corner at compania casa del ray and walking down Calle 22. I'll grab a coffee next to the coffee / used book shop right next to the cinema if I'm dragging a bit. Not the best coffee but it does the trick. Carrera 7 is usually always busy enough and For most of the walk into SF Calle 22 is quite a well lit street for Bogota standards. I'm usually walking down there before 9 pm and most of the stores are still open along the walk and there's usually a game at the soccer park right before you get to the transmillenio stop which is basically the start of SF so it doesn't feel as deserted as some of the other streets in the evening. I'll usually always get someone right next to there ask me to buy something. Never can figure out wtf it is they're trying to sell me it's like a bag with more plastic bags in it I can't figure it out LOL. Was there about a month ago and had a good time. I've been enjoying the casas more lately. Partly because there's always 1 or 2 thin girls there and thin girls are my thing. On my last trip Fiebre and Troya were the better clubs but it's all dependent on the night. I did feel the clubs were a bit quieter though but having said that I only need 1 or 2 girls and I'm good for the night so it's not like I need to be inundated with stunners. Prices in the club for me were all around 120-150 k depending on what debauchery you want.

Also not wanting to play it down or whatever but honestly I've been here a number of times now and apart from the odd homeless guy asking for something I've never had a problem knock on wood. Yeah when I was there it would range from 50-70 k but I remember the lookers charging higher end. When I was in Troya I had 2 seperate danced for 25,000 and 30,000 and both great value. You should always ask how much the beer / drink is when ordering it-- But if you would have said you are only going to pay 25-35 mil you would have only had to pay that-.
