several hours pass. i go to the toilet and erase any incriminating pictures and texts from my cell phone. i am languishing. the three original guys come back. joanna is with them with another 40 ish looking woman. the guys explain that i will be prosecuted only if the joanna's mother presses charges. the 40 ish looking woman i am told is joanna's mother. the guys suggest that i discuss the matter with mother and joanna.
i am not displaying any anger or fear. i tell the mother in joanna's presence that i only wish that joanna was 21 because i like her and otherwise would be interested in marrying her. i ask what they want and they tell me that they want money. i told them that i am poor and that i live on an annuity that i cannot access. i tell them that i can give them 45,000 pesos and that is all. they leave. one of the original guys comes back and explains in an angry tone that 45,000 pesos won't even cover half the cost of the lawyer. i explain that i have no more than that. they all take turns working on me and finally we one guy suggests 50,000 and the deal is struck. the mother won't press charges.
we all pile back into the car. joanna is on my left and the mother is on my right with my hand around them both. it is a tight squeeze. one hand is feeling up joanna while the other is feeling up the mother. i ask joanna if this is really her mother and she tells me no. back at my hotel the mother and joanna come up to my hotel room. i get out $1100 us. joanna and the mother want to come back and see me later. joanna asks if i am angry at her and i tell her no. and i am not. she tells me to text her later but i forgot that i deleted her number earlier.
later i relate the situation to my landlady who is quasi lawyer. it just so happens that she is with her cousin who is some kind of an ex-police chief up on fields ave. they explain that the so-called mother is probably a mamasan who has several girls working for her and this was an elaborate shakedown. these guys could have been police or maybe not. i go to a police station and explain what happened but i am never contacted about it. i was with a fifteen year old girl so i am in a poor position to seek justice.

We know Patts and feel very safe where we stay and in the areas we venture into. Having no knowledge of PI; any input on what makes PI a consideration would appreciated. No soi 6, no LK, not Honey 1+2. And not much to during the day as there are no beer bar areas or beer garden or beach. Only the SM mall and some bars on perimeter Road that open early.
AC is better in other ways though.

Infrastructure (travel to / from complicated, expensive, not worth the effort). No more direct flights Clark. Bangkok. Manila is comparatively expensive. Better value in Bangkok.
Bars are often raided and even spectator only customers are arrested / harassed unnecessarily.
Quality of food compared with Thailand is quite awful.
The town is broken down and looks a bit like Lagos. The town is dirty, not scenic, nor is it by the sea. No beaches for sure.
Be careful going out after dark, especially poorly lit streets.
Unlike Thailand, there are certainly no police helpful for visitors.
Shopping, compared with Thailand, is very limited.
Most go to Angeles to save money. If money is not an issue, best go elsewhere.
