One man's generous opinion
I would not recommend Angeles.
And maybe that is obvious from your post!
Infrastructure (travel to / from complicated, expensive, not worth the effort). No more direct flights Clark. Bangkok. Manila is comparatively expensive. Better value in Bangkok.
True. . . The flights to Clark have been cancelled and Manila traffic sucks.
Bars are often raided and even spectator only customers are arrested / harassed unnecessarily.
In all my years visiting and for the time that I live here now, I have yet to get caught up in a raid. I visit quite a few bars every week. What a bunch of nonsense!
Quality of food compared with Thailand is quite awful.
Thai food may be better for those who enjoy Thai food. The food here is NOT imaginative but it is edible and there is enough variety for most. We have enough McDonalds, occasional Burger Kings and a new Wendy's at the mall. . . What are we missing?
The town is broken down and looks a bit like Lagos. The town is dirty, not scenic, nor is it by the sea. No beaches for sure.
There are no beaches in Angeles. . . True enough. But some of the tourists like to pretend that it is and wander around the bar area without shirts, in swim trunks while hugging a beer in one hand. Who can figure that one out? Maybe it's the occasional palm tree that is visible here.
Be careful going out after dark, especially poorly lit streets.
Probably pretty much true anywhere in the third world countries where tourists have more money than the locals. BUT. . . Good advice, be careful!
Unlike Thailand, there are certainly no police helpful for visitors.
I guess that perhaps you personally can relate to a horror story where the police were not helpful to you? Otherwise, you enjoy spreading rumors from something you read somewhere. (? ? ?
Shopping, compared with Thailand, is very limited.
The most annoying experience I had was on Beach Road in Pattatya where every Indian tailor found it necessary to shake my hand and offer to sell me suits and shirts that I didn't want or need. I am happy we don't have that nonsense in Angeles. Everything else can pretty be much be had either here or in Manila.
Most go to Angeles to save money. If money is not an issue, best go elsewhere.
Hope you continue to spend your money eleswhere!
IMHO. . . Munch.
Most province girls want privacy
Another point to keep in mind. Many girls want privacy. They do not want their line of work to become common knowledge in their home community therefore not at all common for them to use the I'd of a cousin or sister.
If you're spidy sense is tingling. And in this case I think you are justified. Then play it safe.
Probably not a scammer but a young new girl trying to sneak into the bar work by the sounds of your description.
AV.
Most girls don't want anyone to know they work in a bar. I can remember a few girls that freaked when they saw a familiar province girl in a club or restaurant. If they are seen then the story line is they just serve drinks in the clubs but do not go out or barfine. Some girls do not want to be seen coming out of or near a hotel. I can remember one girl telling me she was shocked when she saw there was a girl from her neighborhood working in her bar. I asked how they got along, she replied that they never talked to each other. Not even a Hello,. This way they never saw each other!
