It's because there isn't much good to say about the place. You can get there by going east and crossing Sukhumvit Road. As a rule of thumb you can rely on the fact that the farther East you go in Pattaya the cheaper and less desirable are the accommodations and amenities that the city has to offer.

You can rent a room on the dark side, for example, for as little as 2000 baht per month or even less. Think about it; that's about $2 USD per day for a room. Imagine what you get for that kind of money? The dark side is where the low budget farang expats go to live. That's where you'll find the majority of dishonest, backstabbing, unsavory, often violent characters mentioned on the forum by guys like Goatscrot who don't like Pattaya. The place is a magnet for them. It's also where the low life Thai's live, the kind of Thai folks you probably don't want to meet on your holiday in Pattaya.

There are many bars on the dark side but they don't exactly cater to guys looking for entertainment featuring pretty girls. The dark side is where the Beach Road hookers go when they can no longer find paying customers on Beach Road. You can find bar girls but they are almost always either old or unattractive or both. The report on the Darkside is not exactly the way it is being told although the bar scene is very true. What is not exactly true is no one area in Pattaya has a exclusive right to being be back stabbers etc. I know and met many of these people being mentioned all over Pattaya including Jomtien. In fact, many of the falangs leaders who poses as legit business people live in the main part of town. You can go in the L. K. Metro area and find plenty of rooms at 2,000 baht, plenty around Pattaya Tai, and plenty just off Jomtien Beach toward Chaiyaipruk. Much of Jomtien Russian mafia resides in that area. When you turn on the news and hear about all the so call accidents people falling off hotels and condo being killed one wonders where the desirable live. In the end, people of all kinds live everywhere and as noted on the Darkside too.

The Darkside has populated area's but the further you go out when you drive the more land there is it goes on and on like forever. Some of the riches people including Falangs live out here. The Siam Country Club a world respected golf course is out here. The massive Thai Polo Club is out here and the owner is a Billionaire. Many of the houses out here go for tens of millions. And sure there is violence but look at the T. V. Reports and Falang Newspaper and most of the problems are in the tourist area. Yes it is cheaper accommodation out here but not everything is a dump and yes people who do not own reside because you get more for your Baht of course that is a individual opinion.

As for the Bars as noted. It is not worth the time or the money to come. Most of them are fresh off the farm and do not know what they are doing and the others old and fat. Once in a while you get a stunner because they do not like the scene in town and they get snapped up right away and sponsor? It is very spotted and Bar open today and close tomorrow as noted not worth the time unless you know how to get around on a bike. And believe it or not many girls I know that work in Go Go on W. S. Live on the Darkside.
