Rio is what you make it. You have to put in the work. It is actually more rewarding.

The Termas are not what they used to be but are still good recruiting grounds and good times can still be had. The Prives and clinicas are too good not to pass up although a bit more pricier than Medellin you cannot beat the Brasiliera sex performance goddesses in Rio. Here is an updated list of a few I scouted in late March- may be helpful to those not in the know. Don't hold me to the prices.

I just stumbled across this site while looking for ways to get in trouble in Colombia, and as a longer term ex-pat in Rio, thought I could add some value to this particular thread.

Over the years, the terma scene in Rio has ebbed and flowed. At the moment, with fewer Brazilians willing and / or able to part with their cash, customer volume is down, and thus girl availability has gone down as.

I realize that standard economic theory would dictate that if demand drops and supply is constant (or even increasing as you'd expect with unemployment blowing up), price should go down. Unfortunately, logic has never been a Brazilian forte.

The only terma at the moment that still has a high volume of girls on offer is 4 x 4. Unfortunately, the quality is a bit hit and miss. If you're into loads of tattoos and huge asses, this is definitely your spot.

Centaurus continues to attract the highest quality girls, but they are very aggressive, and at are $750 entrance (including the 40 minute session) it's quite pricey. If your goal is a girl in the 8-9. 5 range, and price is no issue, Centaurus is a solid bet. The favorite of wealthy locals, Ipanema tourists, and celebrities.

MC in Copa has always catered to tourists mainly. The receptionists tend to speak English, but the service is very hit and miss. Girls can be quite attractive, and it feels a bit cleaner than 4 x 4 simply because it's catering to tourists and charging about are $150 more.

Solarium in Jardim Botanico is great. Nice mix of girls, generally not aggressive, and not that many tourists. Caters to the upper middle class local. A few drinks, chat with a few girls (several speak a bit of English. In my experience, a lot of these girls are university students from either the suburbs or the Tijuca) get your 40 minutes and and you're out for are $500. They've only got 6 or 7 rooms, so if you're there at 8 pm on a Wed or Thurs, you may have to wait a while once you've picked a girl.

I've enjoyed Perola Negra in Barra. It keeps changing between a terma and a swingers club, so check their website before you make that trip. If you're in Barra it's on Av do Pepe 400 ([URL]www.perolanegraclub.com.br[/URL]). Quite attractive women, very few gringos, and priced on par with Solarium and MC.

I've never really enjoyed the lower end places in Centro like MV30, but if you're just looking for value, some of these places are alright.

As such, here are a few notes on the various sites available and some simple ways of getting in touch with the ladies on offer.

First some site reviews:

Site has an English language option, and details services offered by each girl and if they speak English or not.

[URL]www.espacoterapias.com.br[/URL] - this site is used to advertise a significant number of girls working in the various prives in centro, copa, barra and tijuca (Tijuca and Barra de Tijuca are not be confused, as they are very distinct places). The menu bar at the top has several categories, but the important ones are "Terapeutas" and "Massagistas". Terapeutas generally have some sort of massage course under their belts (although the actual massage can be quite shitty) and quite a few just offer rub and tugs. I would say about 75 - 80% do offer full services, but its difficult to tell from the ad. Massagistas do offer full services (and also shitty massages for the most part). Most of the bigger clinicas in Rio are also advertised on this site.

[URL]www.amantesecia.com.br[/URL] - a lower end site for both clinica / prive girls and independents. There is some cross over between espacoterapias and amantesecia, in that a girl advertising fully clothed with face shots in the former can be found nude without her face on the latter.

[URL]www.barravipsrio.com[/URL] - the girls look amazing, but they are photo shopped to shit. They also charge a premium. Maybe a little more expensive than hot side, but more or less on par.

[URL]www.riosexsite.com[/URL] - this site is weird in that it actively sells memberships. Most the independents advertised here advertise elsewhere, but this site has very glamorous photos. Priced like barravipsrio.

As has been referenced before, if you want to look up a girl's reviews, they can be found on [URL]Forumx.com.br[/URL] and [URL]gpguia.net[/URL] (to access this site you either need to be in Brazil or browsing behind a VPN).

Now, you may notice that certain advertised phone numbers contain 8 digits, while others contain 9. All 9 digit phone numbers are for mobile devices in Rio (also in Sao Paulo). As a result, almost all of the girls advertising with a 9 digit number can be contacted via whapsapp, allowing you to communicate effectively using any translator app. No knowledge of Portuguese required.

As a side note, if you want to inquire if a girl takes it in the ass, the shorthand notation is "voce e completa? Which translates to "are you complete". Complete women take it in the ass. You've got to love Brazil.

Cancun and 4 x4 are about $115 for an hour (including admission, $100 at 4 x4 if session before 6 PM). Tier 2-3 termas like MV 30, Termas 502 and Termas 31 are about $55-75 for an hour. Prives, which are the best deal, are from $35-$60 fro an hour, so Rio is not that expensive, even compared to Bangkok.
