Still lots of stupid going on
As an aside. For the life of me, I can't understand why any country (or entity) would be requiring a vaccine to enter. The various vaccines efficacy is short-lived I believe. Someone correct me if I am wrong. It lasts months, not years. It wanes quickly with older age. As the vast majority of those who received a vaccine, that would have been in 2021 (as various countries approached 60% of adults vaxxed, the daily vax rate dropped quickly). If we haven't been vaxxed in a year's time, the thing has become relatively ineffective (look, I'm speaking as Doctor Google here, not as Dr. Westy / Pinay Vax specialist). In addition, being vaxxed does not stop me from receiving or transmitting the virus. Everyone in power here seems to think that keeping unvaxxed persons out (of not only the country, but the malls) will stop transmission for those already inside. As vaxxed persons can receive and transmit the thing (but get fewer symptoms and die less often) as well as the unvaxxed, who would care if the inbound are vaccinated?
If that info is correct, why require a now-ineffective vaccine for entry? Are they hoping that unvaxxed foreigners will run out and get a recent vax in order to travel?
Is there a doctor in the house who can tell me that I am wrong? It seems a wild hypocrisy that in my province, the malls dropped the mask requirement weeks ago, but the DOH keeps personnel at the mall doors and check everyone's vax card for entry (that's right, you must be vaccinated, but you don't need a mask).
Still lots of stupid going on. The USA Still requires proof of vaccination before entering For non-citizens. To me the really stupid part is that having Covid doesn't count toward being vaccinated. I was vaccinated with the Jansen J&J one shot vaccine in April 2021 so I am considered vaccinated in most countries even without a booster shot. I did get the Phizer booster in April because I was thinking of traveling through Quatar in May. No more shots for me. That booster was worse than when I had the flu in June.
