I was out in Copa last night with a few friends, and we drunkenly stumbled into a new place in Copacabana. On the corner of Nossa Senhora de Copacabana and Rua Belfort Roxo (about 3 blocks from Mabs and the old Balcony on Belfort Roxo), there used to be a shitty strip club that charged different rates for buying drinks for girls of questionable attractiveness. The place has been totally renovated and turned into a decent sized dance club. They don't have a name on the awning, so I have no idea what it's called, but last night it was bumping.

Probably 50 girls and 30 men mixed between the bar and the dance floor. It's bigger than Dolce Vita (which is on its death knell with the closure of Balcony), and the girls seemed to be of better quality than what's available at Mabs. For reference, the biggest knock on Mabs from the girls' perspective is that it's not very discreet and there's really nothing for the girls to do while they're waiting to be beckoned. For many of the part-timers and "semi-pro" girls, being in a darker environment where they can dance and have a bit of fun is a major selling point.

So I've been here once, drunk, and it was a great time. Given the small sample size, I can't say whether it's consistently good. However, for the BRL 30 entry fee, if you like to watch or join the girls while they shake their asses (and they most certainly shake), it may be worth popping by. We were there about 1 am and the place was at about 70% capacity. Probably gets going between 11 and 12.

Snip[/QUOTE]If it is the same place I went to (which it seems to be), the place is called Knight. The owner of Termas 31 told me about this club and dropped me off there to take a look. It was pretty empty when I entered at about 12 AM on a weekday to take a free look; 6 girls and no men that I could see. Asked the guy that was showing me around what the girls charged. He asked a girl how much she charged and she said 300 reais (did not inquire as to how long that was for.) As I had already had 3 or 4 sessions that day, I told her I was out of service and left the club.
