According to the Israeli study, or the link you posted, the Pfizer vaccine is only 38% effective at preventing infection from the Delta variant. It doesn't mention other variants. It also doesn't mention the effectiveness of other vaccines. It goes on to say (and this is the rather important part that you somehow failed to mention) that the Pfizer vaccine is 88% effective against preventing hospitalization from the Delta variant and 91% effective against preventing severe illness.

You do understand why that part is important? Catching any virus isn't really a big deal unless you get seriously ill and / or require hospitalization. A vaccine which eliminates 91% of the problematic cases is a big plus. Of course you have to combine it with public policy to minimize the spread, but keeping 88% of the people out of the hospital, who would otherwise be taking up hospital beds greatly assists in the ability to treat those who weren't smart enough to get vaccinated.

As for his other points:

1. If you're not vaccinated you will get it. Some people will, either through natural immunity, acquired immunity through asymptomatic infection, or through the random chance of never coming in contact with an infected person, will never knowingly become infected. However, if they acquired immunity through asymptomatic infection, or with minimal symptoms, they could still infect other people who, not only could infect others, but who could have more serious, even fatal infections. However, as we've seen with other viruses which have been widespread, odds are, if you're not vaccinated, you're going to get it. If you are vaccinated, odds are in favor of you eventually getting it. All the vaccine does is vastly improve your chances of not ending up face down on a hospital bed with a tube in your lungs while your family stands outside waiting for your final breath.

2. The longer a disease circulates the more it mutates. That one is simple. Just for discussion assume that 1 of every 10,000 will mutate and 1 of every 10,000 mutations will be a successful mutation. That gives us 1 successful mutation out of every billion replications. If the virus replicates 10,000 times per infection, then every 10,000 cases on average yields one successful mutation. The more cases, the more mutations. Please note, those are just made up numbers to illustrate the point. It doesn't matter what numbers you use, the more people become infected, the more likely the virus will mutate.

As far as mutations go, we don't need to worry about mutations which make the virus less communicable. Which leaves us with the Delta variant. The original strain had an infection factor of 2. 5, on average an infected person would infect 2. 5 people. The Delta variant number is between 3. 5 and 4. So let's run the numbers through 4 rounds of infections. The original strain the first person infects 2. 5, who each infect 2. 5, etc. Giving us, after 4 generations, 39.0625 infected people, call it 40. At 3. 5, Delta gives us 150 infected people. At 4. 0 the number jumps to 256. Each subsequent wave of infections increases the deviation between the 2 different variants. 100 times more infectious, would depend on how far out you project the curve. Here's the link which might fill you in on the subject. Just for fun after 10 waves, at 4. 0 Delta gives 1,048,576 infected people. Alpha gives 9,537, which is about 1100 times as many infections.

3. Subsequent mutations may be worse. Of course this is pure speculation. He specifically said "may be worse. " What part of that seems like anything more than speculation?

However, mutations which are less communicable are not successful mutations. We already have a mutation which is worse. Delta. So this pure speculation has already been shown to be possible. What happens if Delta mutates into something which takes longer for serious symptoms to develop, but which is twice as deadly? What happens if Delta mutates into something which the current vaccines provide little or no protection against serious illness? The more cases there are the higher the probability of that happening. It's not really speculation when you say something which has already happened may happen again.

This subject is on my mind because I just recently talked to my sister. Her opinion about getting vaccinated is the same as yours. She told me, if she gets it and dies, "oh well. " However, if she gets Covid and has symptoms similar to mine, I expect she'll be expressing regret over her choice.

As I've said before, whether any person chooses to get vaccinated or not, I don't care. I don't even care if their refusal causes other people to die. That's their problem to deal with, if they survive. At this point in time, vaccinated and recently recovered from Covid, I'm probably one of the least likely people alive to get infected, and even if I do, the symptoms are likely to be less troublesome.

As for the rest of you, I fully expect, over the next 6 months, one of you, if you survive, will express regret over your choice (or never mention your illness on ISG). Either way it has no effect on me.

Even though the camera is pointing directly at the car, at close range, it's difficult to make out what the people are doing inside. Now let's imagine your imaginary cameras on top of the poles. They would have to be pointed at the car from much farther away and they are at an angle, increasing reflections, reducing visibility.

And you forgot to Google one thing, a photo of the towers showing your imaginary cameras. However, I already posted a photo of a tower. If you can't see the camera from the gondola, the camera can't see into the gondola. Guess what you can't see on the tower from the picture taken from a gondola. I'll give you a hint. It starts with "camera" and ends with "you brainless shit gibbon. ".

A point to consider is that the bulk of this particular post was your failed attempts to rebuke my claims that you hadn't been to Colombia. Because of that, it seems reasonable to assume your proof would be pictures taken by you, since you said you rode them twice with someone else and there were 2 pictures of different girls in the Metrocable.

Pictures taken by others, especially old pictures aren't a reliable source of current conditions. If you want I have some 35 year old photos taken in Oregon, which clearly show there are no fires burning in Oregon. Of course a picture which shows exactly what I claimed doesn't seem to be a good choice to prove my claim is invalid. The other 2 photos are focused on a subject inside the gondola, so aren't a good representation of visibility into the gondolas from outside. And naturally none of your photos show the proof of cameras mounted on the poles.

Conclusion: If the photos were just googled to debunk my claims, you failed miserably at finding photos which debunked my claims. No photos taken outside the gondolas looking into the gondolas, no photos taken showing cameras mounted on the poles and no photos taken of the landscape from inside the gondola, except for one photo which shows how difficult it is to see into another gondola. If that was your goal, you accomplished the opposite of your intent.

The other possibility is that you hoped to pass the photos off as proof you rode the metrocables twice.

That leaves us with only 2 possibilities.

1. You're an idiot who not only failed to prove his point, but managed to prove mine at the same time.

2. You're an idiot who thought he could pass off 3 pictures, obviously taken at 3 different times with 3 different cameras as proof you've been to Medellin.

Sometimes we'll mention our rank, I was E-5 when I got out. Duty stations also get mentioned. Besides basic training and A school in Great Lakes, Illinois at North Chicago, Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Nuclear Prototype Training Unit in Idaho Falls, Idaho, as a student, I was stationed on 2 ships and a submarine, The USS Vulcan AR-5 (TAD), the USS Michigan SSBN-727 (BLUE) and the USS Dixon AS-37. I also served as an instructor at NPTU Idaho Falls, A1 W crew see, M-Div TPO, and I was briefly assigned to Base Security at Subase Bangor. That covered 8 years and 3 months and I got out with an honorable discharge with an RE code of 1.
