I think he is talking about the bars on Lockhart Road where the mamasans are standing in front trying to lure you in. I've not ventured into one of them for years, but they were 2, 500 HKD LT. 10-15 years ago. It would not surprise me if they are getting twice that today from the uninformed. Maybe I'll pop my head into one next time in the area to enquire.

I do want to say that I have almost stopped going down to CP for KTV these days as I really hate having to rush out of work early just so I can beat the 6pm flower street. After I discovered the trick to KTV in Panyu, I now take my time and go have my dinner in Guangzhou and conduct my business till I have really finished work, which would be around 9pm, then I head over to Panyu KTV and get there around 10pm, and I still can get the best looking girl, at least no less in quality then I typically find in CP.

I party in Panyu to around 1am and bring a girl back to Guangzhou to go dancing with her in places like KAMA or Cave before taking her back to my place.
