Rio de Janeiro Reports

I had an apartment when I was there in April, but I will do a hotel my next time, which an apartment you might not be able to get it close to where you want to stay.

Check out Praia Lido hotel when I was there and would probably stay there next time. Its chica friendly, you just have to pay the double occupancy rate. Came out to like $75 USA.

Apartment you have more freedom, but price wise its about the same when you factor in maid service (clean sheets each day.

No problem at all, I wouldn't like you to waste your time researching the forum. Of course I'll make you a list of all the girl friendly hotels in Copacabana and Ipanema. There can't be more than a few hundred so I hope I won't miss any GF hotel.

They are more or less all girlfriendly-just book 2 people in the room and check them in and out and make them dress normally-not provocatively.

Occasionally they might make you pay a bit more. Don't go to the very top ones though.

This has worked at best Western Ipanema. They didn't ask about the 2nd,3rd or 4th. I checked 1st one in and that was that. They even called up to my room like mr so and so Miss blabla is in reception-should I send her up?'yes please!

If people really feel the need to obsess about whether a hotel is "girl-friendly" then just call them and ask. Before I started staying in apartments, I stayed in pretty much all of higher-end hotels in Copa, Ipanema, Leblon and Barra. The only issue I ever had was when two different girls told the hotel that they were my girlfriend. The hotel did not want to get into the middle of a cat fight, so they asked me to register one of them. Way too much fretting on here about what should be a non-issue.

Termas Aeroporto was a second-tier termas that probably peaked in the early 2000's. I recall that Termas Aeroporto opened earlier than others and punters would catch one last farewell session before flying out of Santos Dumont. It was not uncommon to see punters show up with their luggage.

Does any one have any intel on this girls.

Ironically enough at small hotels like Debret they give you shit as with a few of the big ones on Ave Atlantica. Mainly trying to make you pay for another guest basically. Like I said Best Western were fine yet Atlantic Copa in Ipanema def were not and made noise. No rhymr or reason to it.

Those rubber mattresses were installed for easy cleanup, not guest comfort. Depending on the location of your room, the buses screeching to a halt at the red light out front at all hours can impact getting a good night's sleep.

If you do use it for short-term, keep in mind that the girls get a kickback for bringing you in. If you want the best rate, get it before they see the two of you together.

I always considered Praia Lido to be mainly a motel. I would never spend a vacation there. I stayed there only once, one night a long time ago, when arriving late in Rio and entering an apartment the next day. I negotiated a good rate for a 12 hours stay. I received a room in the back. What a hellish night. The AC was extremely loud and made the room ice cold and propably comfortable if you're a polar bear. It was impossible to change the AC temperature. When I close the AC the room became a very hot sauna. I remember waking up in the morning, sheets on the floor, lying sweaty on the slippery rubber mattress. The standard might be better today? I guess it works fine as a motel for a short session.

Except for one time, I have always stayed in Apartments in Rio. Many advantages. If you shop around, you will save a significant amount of money compared to staying in a Hotel. Bring in as many ladies without concern about checking in more than one. Doorman can give you a locals perspective and good tips, etc.

If you are staying for more than a week in Rio, in my opinion, its a no brainer. Rent an apartment. My 2 cents.
