Centaurus
From a long time friend who works at Centaurus I have been told that the girls have been told to clear out their lockers.
The place may be reopened but this is still unclear. Issue is a dispute among the owners due to the crisis and thus poor results at the terma.
Girls tried to migrate to MC and Solarium, but seems most if not all were declined as these places also lack demand.
I have more than a decade worth of great memories from Centaurus and really hope they will reopen soon.
Will be on the ground in a few weeks and would love to visit as always.

Visa
Your hypothesis is correct. I would come by the 21st as if you show up on the 22nd the passport control agent will undoubtedly need to converse with their supervisor about whether or not the visa expired on the 21st. Passport control people aren't exactly well trained. But they don't do anything out of the ordinary with their time calculations. I also have a permanent visa and was given the terms of that visa by a reputable immigration law firm in Rio (although I wouldn't call them the most competent of lawyers).
Thank you very much for the info.

I very much doubt management would let competition eat handsomely during August. Tbh I had 2 good experiences in there but not the best and it was overpriced and a stressed place so whatever will be will be. More freelancers then.

One would have to be a very incompetent owner not to be able to make near record profits during the Olympics. During football world cup the wait for a room at Centaurus was so long that some clients and girls used the medical and storage rooms rather than wait.

Termas
Hello peoples,
I'm in Rio right now and here is a quick update on the Termas situation. Centaurus is closed until further notice. I was at MC yesterday when 20 girls from Centaurus showed up to apply to work. The owner could only accommodate a handful of them. (I'll be right back at MC today to look at the untouchable Centaurus beauties!) One of the problems why these Termas are closing is because the owners don't won't to sacrifice on previous earnings. They are use to making a certain amount of money and keep raising prices to do so but continue losing customers. If they could keep prices low they would have more volume but they don't see that. There were only 8 guys in MC to 25 girls. Terma 65 is closed also. Today I'm going to Cancun and Solarium. Anybody have any termas recommendations? My first time in Rio in 6 years.

Centaurus closed!
Is this for good or for the Olympics? Today is the first day of its closure. No insight into why yet but I wonder if it is part of the Olympic image.

The climate and management and attitude at centaurus was so arrogant no wonder they didn't see the wood for the trees. The girls from there are so over rated imo-last couple of times i played tour guide to gringos i didnt see anything i wanted-a few good ones but many dolly birds but might do ok at MC which also has turned very plastic in looks of girls with a couple of exceptions once in a while.
4 X 4,MV30,T81,502,T31-if you want to venture out: Black & White in Bonsucesso (Mon to Friday) cheap as chips-good rooms. Mosaico in VM jumps off late. Florida Bar, Sub Solo both jump off late -after midnight. The new after hours spot in Copa K club is likewise a late jump off so all the gdps who still want to eat more can go after day time terma gig. Abracos e boa sorte cara.

Visit of Papa Francisco and the Copa before that every terma was open. I Was there. One establishment might get it in the neck like Balcony for show.
Because the city could easily let all establishments stay open as theyre making money off them.

Yes, Centaurus closing has propably to do with the Olympics. Rio wants to get rid of the image of being a destination for sexual tourism. Centaurus is the most famous Termas and could easily cause outrageous headlines in media when the athletes go there.
Centaurus has closed before but reopened. In 2012, exactly 4 years ago Centaurus got closed down together with L’uomo, Centaurus reopened but L’uomo closed for good. Centaurus will propably reopen this time as well.
I've never visited Centaurus as I consider it to be a overpriced gringo-trap, but I hope the Centaurus girls will spread out over the other termas and privées in Rio.

They still want the income and the policemen and politicans, doctors and lawyers still want some where to go (4 X 4!Centaurus, Cancun) - so I agree Centaurus will prob reopen but no one is trying to clean up Rio. The only factor determining staying open is economics.

Termas Centaurus, Rio most famous termas, suddenly closing 50 days before the Olympics and you think it has nothing to do with the Olympics?
That Rio wants to get rid of its image as a destination for sexual tourism is nothing new.

It's not discreetly located and is pretty much in your face as you walk down Rua Gomes Carneiro and pass by that popular lanchonette Copanema Mix. I messaged a Centaurus girl yesterday to first say Hi and the first thing she asked was "did you hear that Centaurus closed yesterday?" I then asked her if it's closed permanently and she said that she didn't know, that she hopes it reopens before the Olympics but in the meantime she isn't going to any other Termas to work and will wait it out. Bottom line is nobody knows except Centaurus owner and the bribe taking police what the fate of this place is.
