Free buffet breakfast and it is an excellent one. No hassles at all for your friends. I have been staying there for almost ten years and have always enjoyed myself.
I am flying into BKK in Janaury late at night (11:30pm) just passing through on my way to catch an early morning flight (7:30am) to Ubon Ratchathani. I don't want to go into town for just a few short hours! Anyone have any recommendations for a good short time hotel located near the airport?
Thanks much!
Gentlemen,
I've booked into President Solitaire Premier Suite Club( Refurbished). Is GP Tower(Tower 2) better or PS?
The pros for PS are: fast check in; late checkout , free soft drinks/beer in the Happy hours, free Wifi but no broad band.
The Pros for GP are free broadband. Couple of hundred bahts more expensive
Both On Soi 11
PS is further up the soi. But if GP is more expensive although I've not stayed in GP for some time now, I'd go with the PS.I prefer President Palace except for the damn bell boy who asked an id from my gf thinking she was a working girl. make sure you ask for metered taxi when you go to airport etc and say you do not want mafia taxis which are parked outside both hotels. GP is closer to the BTS and all the happenings in Soi 11.

I did stay in Pres Solit. The refurbished rooms are far better and more aesthetic than GP. Appear luxurious.
It is in a by road at the end of Soi 11. Quiet area, for people who like it that way. GP's breakfast is better, but nothing matches the BF at Maj Grande.
PS is GF, and there is an exit from the car park side which you can access if don't want to walk the Hall of Shame.
But if you have come for fun and want your spirits pepped up, I would say take the GP Tower 2, away from the birds. Because the moment you get out of GP, Soi 11 is bustling and that lifts your mood!
For much of my BKK travel, the Majestic suites is my Best star deliver
All expected at a reasonnable rate 1570baht/night. For a Single Superior room.
The room is just Big enough for a comfy queen bed, a functional bath and
Large enough closet for a lone traveller.
The Best are the MS. Prime location at this corner soi4 Sukhumvit,
And a totally GF. I also like the idea of knowing exactly what I will
Get from the hotel, and the friendly staff after several times staying
At the Majestic suites.
However, every body has their own favourite place to stay and it is all
Depending what the people expectations like Luxury, Plush hotels
Or lust economy convienence Majestic suites.
I have stayed at LL for last 10 days, checking out tomoroow. Enjoyed it as usual for me. I suppose it depends what your are looking for. As I usually have a fair bit work to get through on a daily basis, I have no better recommendation if that is what you need.
Also went again to Tawandang Brewery, fantastic night out, nearly full for a weeknight, so I imagine it is possible reservations are required for weekend nights. Went with one, but met some other ladies (NWG) and had a roaring time.
Didn't get around to Cowboy or Nana much, but noted earlier the one place I went looking for someone I met previous trip - place had changed to LB club. Tried looking up one of her friends in Cowboy, but could not track the girl down, ended up taking her friend, May, 16(?) from Suzie Wongs, and had a reasonable time. Had gone with her before, so that might be the reason. She is young and and a ball of energy if she is comfortable.
Spent the bulk of the time with a girl I met last time. Boring I know, but very enjoyable, and that is what I came for. Back home tomorrow, I presume depression will start to set in mid week. I might start looking for flights in January...
Now that my regular flight to Dubai has changed and stops for an hour in Bangkok, I am considering spending 24 hours in the city and catching the flight out and onwards the next day. From the forum and as a newbie to Bangkok I assume that getting a taxi from the airport and staying a night at the Majestic Suite Hotel would be the best way to organise my first visit and to start learning my way around the fun of this city. Any better ideas for a first time visitor welcomed.
Majestic Suites is a very good start. You will have all the action you need around the corner, and the BTS station just a few minutes walk, if you want to check out the Cowboy.

Gents;
I have received many PM. Regarding my report on MS. And wondering If I were a part of owner or any related interest with the MS. And How is the world this hotel popular?
Here You Go:
Firstable, I Am Not a part owner Nor having any business tie with the MS. I understand that the MS. And the Majestic Grande have the same owner. However, I stay at the Majestic suites on every trip in BKK.
The MS. Is surely my favourite hotel and I Don't plan to change in the future. So, What are the reasons, I stay at the MS here.?
MS. Location is just unbeatable at the corner of soi4 Sukhumvit for a small walk to NEP at night. The Nana BTS station is only 2 min. Walk. And 1 station away Asoke for soi Cowboy. There are several MP. Close to Majestic suites like Annie's, Aviva, Eden. The bars and restaurants are many at this lower soi.
Also, the MS. Rate is reasonable and totally GF.

YEs, Location is great. but from Nana to Asok in BTS? no thanks, i'd rather jump in an air conditionned Taxi :)
Gents;
It is very rare for the Taxi driver who wants to take a short distance on Suk. From Nana to soi Cowboy on the meter.
I rather jump on the Skytrain and still have a cool Aircon and much quicker than sitting in the traffic jam Sukhumvit
Road. My own experience for Bangkok transportations is very simple: Use the Skytrain, MRT where I can to move
Around and avoid Traffic and it is much cheaper with Safety.
stayed at this brand new hotel on the same street as the Woraburi Inn off soi 4.
Nice rooms, flat screen TV on wall. If you come in the next few weeks tell them you were referred from the "maxim" hotel and they may give you a room for 1260 baht with breakfast. Otherwise its 1400. They are extremely friendly , no fee for guest, they will be getting their own tuk tuk to take you down soi 4.
One day I payed for my room then at 2pm I told them I had a change of plan and if I could check out and get a partial refund. They said because I charged a credit card, they couldn't do it but if I came back one day would be free of charge. I did come back 3 days later and they honored it. There's a pool but it's mostly covered, there is a small spot for sunning, and they will be adding a fitness center.

Spoken like a true tourist :D
Taxi drivers LOVE short distances, they get 35 thb for a minute or 2... versus sometimes sitting in the car for ages and making 45 thb.
Nana to Cowboy by taxi, even in the evening should not take more than 10 minutes. 3 minutes by Motorcycle.
