Thanks for the input, lads. Definitely one to cross off the list.
Anyone got any recommendations? Reasonably priced (800 to 1500 baht) 2 or 3 star, on the beach side of second road (hate that fucking road!) and an easy walk from Walking Street but close to the party fun of Soi 8. Trouble is that hotels with this spec tend to book up months ahead. Was looking at Flipper Lodge but that seem to be full for the dates in early March when I'll be in town.
Check out Nautical Inn.

Warning about staying at Secrets Hotel:
If you're staying on the first floor it's noisy as shit. To the point where I can't sleep. The housekeeping staff uses one of the rooms on this floor as their base, and they're banging around all day and night with the door open.
I asked to change rooms and they only offered me one of the rooms at the most expensive rate. I declined simply because I'm not going to pay them more money because their staff is really noisy all night.
Other than that it's a fine place to stay. But if you can't sleep then what's the use.

Great location for the Walking Street (1 minute away) but, the street is dirty and smelly with stray dogs going through the bins looking for food. This is bound to make it difficult for the hotel to control pests such as, cockroaches etc. No pool, no elevator, no windows in the rooms. I felt claustrophobic and had to check out early.

Woodlands Hotel
Just off Naklua Circle, superior room 2,900 per night. Really nice place, low rise (2 storey max)garden setting, many trees and built ad hoc around 2 pools, an oasis from the dump that is Pattaya in general though a little off the beaten track.
Although a family hotel, on checking in I was reassured to hear the receptionist tell me unprompted that if I was to bring a guest back they would need to leave ID. That was good to hear as I wasn't sure if I'd be stung for joiner fee, however taking the precaution of booking a room for 2 people generally cancels that issue out anyway.
Over 2 nights/3 days, I had 3 girls back none of whom actually even left ID at reception as it turned out...recommended but only for the discrete bearing in mind the family nature of the place

Thanks for that, Bloke. Times are obviously hard in the family-friendly hotel trade in Patts.

The hotel was OK and the girls in the club seemed very friendly. In 2009 things did not seem the same. I had problems sleeping and, had to change hotels as well. Also, the girls in the club were not so friendly. I know this is not the hotels fault. Anyone else find this?
I think for the money you can do a lot better.

Dusit D2 Pattaya
I just returned from a long weekend in Pattaya and can highly recommend my hotel, the Dusit D2 Baracuda. I decided on this particular hotel based on previous reports mentioning that it was girl-friendly and made my reservation through agoda. Com. It is a relatively new hotel, with a modern, slick design that appealed to me (especially when contrasted to the rather drab and run down appearance of most other properties I've seen while wandering in Pattaya). Location is perfect, on Second Street, just across from Soi 10. The hub of go-go bars around Walking Street is just a few block away. Rooms are comfortable, shower area is large enough for you and your company to share a nice, intimate shower, and the pool area is just perfect for a relaxing cigar and drinks on a lazy afternoon, before the real action begins in this sex-oriented city.
I was there with a friend and we booked separate rooms. The hotel is definitely girl-friendly and, on the three nights we were there, we had no problems in bringing back to our rooms girls selected from the go-go joints. One detail worth mentioning is that the hotel is particularly convenient if you come to Pattaya with a car (which we did). There is an elevator connecting the parking area on the back of the hotel to the accommodation floors, so you never need to walk past the reception area with your company for the evening. In the three times I brought a girl to my room, I was seen by nobody besides the security guard at the parking lot. You can't beat that for discretion!
And while I'm at it, let me add a few words on restaurants as well. Compared to my other trips to different areas in Thailand, Pattaya was surprisingly poor in terms of restaurant options, and I had to suffer a few forgettable meals before I found really good food there. Most of the beachfront establishments serve a similar, bland menu that made them all resemble each other. Only in Jomtien Beach I could find some places with a slightly better ambiance. And a coffeshop with delectable desserts.
For dinner, though, there were only two places that I would recommend. The first is Zico's Brazilian Grill, a barbecue buffet with fine cuts and good caipirinha that is located at a big shopping mall at beach road. While enjoying your meal, you will also be treated to short samba-dancing presentations by two original Brazilian "mulatas" dressed up (or, rather, "dressed down") for Carnival. The second, and most exquisite dining experience I've had in quite some time, is La Notte Pub and Restaurant, located at the other end of Walking Street, past the maze of go-go bars and neon lights. Great french menu, nice selection of drinks, comfortable seating and a perfect spot to observe the incredibly varied fauna of Pattaya walk by. Enjoy!

Yet another 600 bt Hotel
Here is another safe secure sleep in the "regulars/long timers" section of town, Soi Buakhao. Only reported on sporadically This stretch of the city is becoming more popular. There are several bars of note and more than enough shagers to go around. Also the best English/American restreraunts on Soi Chonaraporn and 100 baugh massage. All within 1 minute walk of this Hotel.
Hotel Nikom Court: 600 baht. Tele, A/C, mini bar, balcony, clean rooms and big showers. There are safety deposit boxes in the lobby and the place is run by honest staff. One of the better things about this place is the elevated open air beer court and lounge located on the busy intersection of Soi Diana and Buakhao. Excellent bird watching and coffee/news reading. Rooms upstairs.
Nikom Court: tele (038) 720105, or 720106 email:nikomcourt@yahoo.com
Corner Soi Buakhao and Soi Diana. Another very decent place is right across the street.

Pasadena Lodge
I am currently at the Pasadena Lodge and find everything here to be quite nice. Normad2020 did a factual review which I found to be right on. Just a couple of details to add that probably don't make much difference: the safe will not hold a laptop for what that's worth. The location is slightly hard to find by some of the locals so best have a map and address with you when you come into Pattaya. I've walked to the beach front twice now and it's a little bit of a hike. However, there's a lot of fun scenery to check out on the way, especially if you detour through soi 6, 7, or 8. I hit the very nearby Lolittas for a bj right after checking in. 700 bhat all in and only tip if you want. Too convenient!
Transport by 9 passenger van from the Pattaya airport is 195 bhat and they like to get a full load before leaving. A one person taxi at the booth will cost 1000 bhat. I'd stay here again.
Could be related to the number of forum posts that people make.
Oh great, let the spam gates flood open now so the CC can save a baht... I hope negative posts count :D
Moderator will you please put ShitHouse in their own forum to stop this spamming.
-
Yes Tansak I believe any kind of postings apply. Maybe the Hotel has nothing to hide. So, get your ass down there. Really go to town on all the negative stuff. Or, just review all the stuff you have written before, and re submit.
Or we can all get together and spam another 2 star hotel :D

Pattaya 4/11-17
Greetings,
I have reserved a condo in Jomtien for my upcoming stay. I think the place will be great to sleep in and relax in as it is on the top floor with a nice view of the beach and free wi-fi and all the trimmings.
This will be my first trip.
I am concerned that if I am in Pattaya and want to ST a girl or get tired and want to rest or take a shower or just otherwise hang out that it will be inconvenient to have to go back to Jomtien.
Is this a valid concern? Or should I consider also renting a cheap room in Pattaya for ST activities and hang out?
If you think I should actually also have a place in Pattaya any suggestions of which place would be convenient and cheap? I was thinking of 500-600 per day range.
I do know that my stay will coincide with Song Krang (spelling?) and might be even more crowded than usual.
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Also will I be able to monger in Jomtien?
Thanks,
ER

Yes there is plenty of mongering in Jomtien...............if you don't mind men.
You will get tired of traveling the long distance to Pattaya to look for the birds. Any way you can get out of the condo rental? If not there are several 300-500 short time hotels roughly mid "walking street" for showers/play/sleeping. There is one $650 place right across the street from Lucifers (I believe) that can be rented dailey. It is actually called "walking street hotel". Small rooms but nice and clean w/ wifi and large screen TV. A bit noisy though.
