Check the HK thread. Best place are the websites. 141, 168, etc. Mongkok is another option on a budget. High-end in the nightclubs and KTV.

Guangzhou is a great city better than Beijing IMHO!
I met a Russian guy that got top Quality FS for the 200 to 300 range.
He told me his Chinese friend took him there.
He said they had about 10 to 15 girls.
But, the place was ran by organized crime and one time they tried to rob him.
I want to find some nasty old ladies in Guangzhou they give better service than the young ones and they are cheaper too.

Just go to Mexico bar or Gpsking bar or even just walk along garden hotel, which is located on Zhujiang Building, beside Peaceful World (around 2 minutes walk time from Garden Hotel ). So many old nasty ladies there are seeking gentlemens there. As soon as you enter the bar gate, they will make an eye contact with you here. Just a kind reminder that some of them are actually scams, when you are enjoying, donot forget to take good care of your belongs.

How about the bars near the river? There were reports about Babyface or Bound before, is Bound still open?

Yesterday, I took a "civilian" I have been seeing for an evening in Guangzhou. It started out wonderful, train ride, taxi to the Hotel Landmark Canton that I had booked thru Agoda, then off to "freshen up".
Nice little pre- river cruise nap, really nice river cruise, and then back to the hotel's 39th floor restaurant for dinner. First inkling of a problem. As we approached the elevators, the guard stopped us (her really) and asked if she was registered. We both show our keys, and he let's us pass. She could tell I was agitated, because even though I didn't understand what he said, if was obvious what he thought.
The restaurant closes at 10:30 (it is now 10:35) , so back down we go and out for a bite. Went to a big seafood place, and just as I ordered a Thai prawn, was told it costs 399 rmb for ONE prawn! Changed that in a hurry, had nice (if expensive) meal and back to the hotel we go to enjoy the rest of the evening.
This is where it all went in the crapper! The same guard, who now has a side-kick, stops us AGAIN. I am like, WTF, but held my tongue so as to not embarrass my "guest". He lets us pass and just about the time I am in an embrace in the room, the phone rings and the front desk wants to know if I have a guest in the room. I said no, I booked the room for two and she was with me at check in. I was told her info was not on the file, I said she was standing right beside me when we checked in and no one asked for her I'd. I was told I needed to bring the I'd down and register. Off I go with a Chinese I'd in hand and a head of steam. It only gets better, when I get to the front desk, I tell them that this is not the way to treat a guest and that I had paid for two people in the room. The clerk ask me if my girl is Chinese, I told her yes, since you are holding her Chinese I'd card! Then the bomb shell! In that case I need to produce a marriage certificate, or we cannot stay in the same room! I was livid, and told her that I was sure that not everyone in the hotel was married, and that not more than two blocks from the hotel, they have touts handing out cards for hookers to come to your room. I pushed about as far as I could without having her call the police, and when I turned around I noticed the "security" guards had increased in number from 2 to 4. There aren't words to describe how angry I was, and then I had to go get my girl and bring her downstairs, which I am not sure if she was embarrassed, but I was for her. I wound up getting a second room, and it was an uneasy lobby as long as I was milling around.
This morning, I spoke with the "manager" who would not give me his business card, and all I got from him was " I am sorry, but this is required by the police". I asked him if everyone that checked into the hotel had to produce a marriage license, and as if on cue a couple walked up to ask some information, and I said to the manager,"Did you check for their marriage certificate when they checked in". The asshole just smiled and said," I am sorry".
About this time, I decided that nothing good was going to happen if I didn't leave the hotel, but would ask everyone who reads this to spread the word, NOT TO STAY AT THE LANDMARK HOTEL CANTON!
My next call is to Agoda, to see if I can stir the pot a little with them!

Many hotels in Guangzhou required couple to show that they are married to stay in same room, if the girl holds Chinese I'd card, this is particularily true of 4 star hotels in city centers. 3 Starts like the Hotel Canton was known to be GF, and most hotels in Tianhe are GF.
Guangzhou is much more fun then CP, so it is very nice to be able to bring a girl from places like CP to Guangzhou to have a romantic evening. CP is really a dump with practically no place to go with your girl except the hotel room, which is why I now do most of my KTV in Panyu, as it is a short taxi ride to take your KTV girl back to Guangzhou like that river you mentioned, or any of the romantic cafe and bars and restaurants. Knowing which hotel in Guangzhou to stay is then the key.
Good that we all know to avoid the Landmark Hotel Canton.

I went for a massage the other day in Shenzhen at 1. 00am I was asked to show my passport and register at the desk? Maybe I had to marry the masseuse so she could come into the room as well, I never carry my passport and they would not accept my copy I've used for train tickets and police checks, and I get on well with the staff they know me well. This is China the games in Shenzhen has sent everybody into cloud cookoo land this month. Look forward to October and China returns to normal. Chinese will smile when you complain by the why its just the culture has taught them this even though they are quite upset, drive you mad till you work this out. Also unless you want to spend 4 hours complaining like the locals do there is not much point, I've started too before and worked out after 5 mins its not worth the effort to continue. Thanks for the tip anyway.
