The reason off topic shit takes over the pages here is because the senior BMs don't give a shit about it. These off topic (many times boring) conversations formulate as a side note to a pertinent post and then take a life of their own w / a long give and take regarding for example, airline tickets, immigration, or phones. The merits of these issues have no business taking up space in the AC Forum but they are and that is not the best way to carry on here.

For me a switch goes off and I know I should move my (off topic) comments to the General Info Forum but no one ever follows me there to carry on the "off topic issue". Why?

It has to be that BMs don't care about keeping the forums organized. It's that simple, they just don't care if there's a lot of non AC info on the AC Forum.

The off topic shit starts innocently enough but after is has taken a life of it's own the BMs should automatically move it to the appropriate forum, the General Info. is easy enough.

My opinion is it never really gets out of hand in the PI section of ISG but I don't fault the guys (newbs or otherwise) who say WTF is this extraneous shit doing here.

It's not that bad here and of course it will never change. lol

The "OT shit" is often issues relevant to the actual situation "on the ground" in PI (although seemingly not directly relevant to the stated mission of the ISG forum). But if it is of interest to the residents and frequent visitors, then the "OT shit" continues for some time. When this occurs, those who are not in the preceding category of members, or are just disinterested in the topic, feel irritated by the ongoing posts. That's life!

And shifting the OT to 'General Information' or similar does not work, even though there may be a post advising of the shift. Why? Laziness or simply because they are responding to a specific or original post and have not read (yet) the post notifying the shift.

Then I was in a position to ask a few targeted questions & contribute a few comments / experiences. Regulars just ask newbies to make that minimal initial effort before demanding everything handed to them on a platter.
Regulars here are often generously helpful to those who demonstrate they have made an effort to help themselves. It's human nature.
Sex is so easy to get & so cheap, it doesn't require obsessive anal focus on just that at all times. Do a little leg work, use a little manners, be surprised.
