In the registration counter, you ask them for a HIV test, and post registration (about Rs 450), you have to consult a physician, who will prescribe the test. They take your blood sample. Tests are conducted there itself. Advanced tests are referred to Mumbai.

No need of any prescription.

On tenderhooks since 2 weeks, I finally pulled myself to Manipal hospital, and got the full screening done, costed me Rs 2500 inclusive of consultation, and a fair amount of counselling, which was worth the relief in finding out that I am all clean, now.

Get it over with at the earliest. You do not want to be that one in 1000 encounters.

On the brighter side, they found out I have high cholestrol, and am on medication!
