Once you have skype buy a skype mobile number $6 a month. This is a number others can call you at via skype. Also set up caller I'd masking. Use your US phone number. This will make all your skype calls show up as your US phone number on caller I'd on outgoing calls. (Free)
Before you leave the states forward your calls to your skype number. Be sure to use unconditional call forwarding.
When you arrive in DR buy a Claro sim card and insert into your phone. $7.
You can easily add minutes to the sim card anytime you have wifi access at ezetop. C0m.
Purchase daily internet from Claro via text (explained below). Now you have wifi everywhere you go. When someone calls you from USA it is forwarded to skype. Your phone rings with the skype ringtone. No one knows your on skype when you anwser. If you call out to USA use skype $.06 per minute. The call masking will show your USA phone number to the receiver. Thry will not know your on skype. You will also revieve texts from your USA number also. But outgoing skype texts will show up a california number on the caller I'd so be careful with outgoing texts via skype. It works great even with less than ideal internet coverage. If internet is poor reception you will notice a slight lag in conversations. You can always use WiFi also. There will be No spanish operators or messages to worry about.
The best part is you still have a local Claro number for calling and texting the chicas. You can receive calls from Skype or Claro.
To add daily internet to your Claro sim card. Dial *111# Send. 2. On the menu that comes up select "2 Servicios Opcionales" and Send. 3. Select "2 Blackberry Prepago" and Send. (It does not matter what type of phone you have."Blackberry" is pretty much the generic term for a smartphone in DR. 4. Select "1 Comprar paquete" and Send. 5. Select "1 Full" and Send. 6. Chose how many days you want. (As I said it is best to do 1.) And Send. 7. It will ask if you are sure that you want to buy your package. Select "1 Si" and Send. 8. You will now get a message saying that you have purchased "xyz" and you are ready to use the internet on your phone.
Another great app to have is Jibbigo translator if your spanish is poor. It works well and doesn't require internet access to use.

Evidently 'obvious' is not so obvious. Some actually believe the fantasy is real and others that money plays no role (I am speaking outside of Sosua). A woman will look for money as well as love and stability. Older guys like me are cynical or skeptical about love so yes, the fantasy of pretend play of being 20 again is great as long as we keep it as fantasy. There will be exceptions but that only proves the rule.

My plans are to land Santiago de los Caballeros from Paris soon. Would like to reach Sosua when arrived so I have no idea about the taxi fare to do so.
I checked the latest threads and didn't found this info here. I heared taxi fare is quite high in DR so I'm wondering to go Sosua even by bus or train or guagua if possible. If anyone got an idea about the prices here you are welcome. Of course I would fly then straight to Puerto Plata airport if the round trip is too expensive.
