Been back in the Pink Lady & learned that the name of the 2nd "contender" that I mentioned after my visit there last weekend is "Ruby"--if anybody has hit it, please give up some details. I've also learned that the other PL contender from last weekend, "Roxanna", can be enjoyed by taxi customers for $80 for a hh. They were both in there 2 weekends in a row. I noticed a 3rd in there this weekend who goes by 'Gabby", but there's apparently more than one in there using that handle (wtf? ).

I also stopped into the Colorado aka "Sans Souicci" & spotted a pretty hot chick name o' "BeBe" (again, anyone got details? ).

Normally with these bicycle police, what happens is they work in pairs. Juarez and would get stopped and searched frequently. Talk about nice areas. The same was true in Cd. Mexico, Monterrey, and other Mexican cities I lived in. But, I'd look dead in the cops face and tell them "you ain't gettin' shit from me Compa'! " When the police wave you down to pull over for a ticket, I keep driving. They can chase me. I also interview the police before they start with the above hustle you mentioned while I'm dialing my voice mail via cell phone and reporting their badge numbers, car id, and other identifiers in front of their face, 100% in Spanish.

I hate police states, especially the worse in the world0 El Paso, Texas. Talk about too much law enforcement.

2. Any of them would take $80 for 1/2hr. , equates out to $160.

3. That you see same ones over different weekends is significant sometimes I'm tempted to take one I like just because I may not see her again.

I'm usually too drunk when we get to PL to make it worth my time/$ to do any of them.

You obviously have that adventuresome spirit and self control apparently so it sounds like the only thing your not doing is some hard core bargaining. You not only bargain on the price, but you bargan on time. Once the $80 was firm, I would have tried for the whole hour. On the way back you can also tip the condom lady and maybe she won't watch the clock so closely. Also, try buying one a drink and befriending them you might get a number and can arrange a meeting without the taxi fee or barfine?

An interesting trend that I've experienced as of late is the "We good guys, right?" approach.

I was stopped Saturday on my way back to Caliente around 4PM by 2 bikes that seemed to be bored. It was mid-way between Mariscal and Ave Juarez. A handshake from them both before anything and handshakes and apologies for "bothering me" after the fact. This was the first time I didn't empty my pockets. I had my cam and a jacket in my hand and that was all they looked at. And my wallet, of course, which doesn't hold money. Another new aspect is being asked if I work. That's always answered with a depressed expression and a slow "Nooo".

Overall, I must be doing something right as I've never had any funds disappear and over the last year or so it seems I always get stopped now. One night I was stopped three times.

As far as being stopped, it seems that if you come across them while they're finishing up on someone else, you're sure to be next. I walk with purpose and when I see them I try to avoid them, if possible, without throwing a red flag. By that I mean if they're coming toward you and both know you see each other, changing your path usually gets a visit while not "noticing" them is 50-50.

I don't really get much out of more than 1 pop or more than 1 half-hour anymore anyway--a mere shadow of my former self! I've seen the posts re the phone number scores...as far as schmoozing them over drinks, it's more my thing to schmooze them in the room--I do all right.

If you go for Roxanna, you have a reasonable expectation of a safety girl's version of pse. Alternatively, you can go to (or call?) the Colorado iso BeBe.

That doesn't work 'cause of the scramblers. Hell, down in Laredo, you can't even use a USA phone on the USA-side of their downtown.

Telcel is for sale in Cd. Juarez, no El Chuco. Next time you're in CJ, go to the store. They are located all over town and even set-up stands at the stop lights. Telmex and Telcel own the market which is why the owner, Carlos Slim, is the richest man in the world. Yes, a Mexican is the richest man in the world!

I can't remember if they have english-based activation, but should 'cause it's a motorola phone and they're made for the entire world and their languages, so it should have English-based menus.

In my opinion Movistar is a lot cheaper than Telcel and they work just as well. The best way is probably go on ebay and get yourself a unlocked GSM cell phone. Many of them cost well under 100 dollars, even at Motorola RAZR v3 costs only about 80/90 bucks on ebay (comparing to getting one in Mexico where cell phones are a lot more expensive). Once you get your unlocked cell phone, you can go into CJ and get a SIM card of your choice: Telcel o Movistar and use it as a local mexican cell phone.

i also noticed that the impala website listed a courtesy shuttle amongst their amenities. hmmm.
