Ramadan is slower than the rest of the year, and now everything is slower due to covid. The combination of Ramadan and covid regulations does not bode well for mongering IMHO.

If you are really timid, why go with an online dating service like Seeking? I would think it takes a more braveness and self-confidence to meet up with a girl you met there, as it is just the two of you and the onus is on you and her. If you go to one of the big establishments in Jakarta (Travel, Classic, Malioboro), it is just like going to a relaxed bar. Except that you don't have to chat up anybody whatsoever, the mamasans will take care of that (thoroughly). Hell, they'll match you up with a girl even if you are asleep. To me it seems like the perfect solution for a timid guy. Go to Classic at 4 pm and it won't be too loud, there won't be many guys and there will be a lot of girls available. The mamas will bring them to you one or two at a time. You have a look, maybe ask a few questions and then choose.

Here in Singapore I have a civilian girlfriend and she is rather possessive, so no mongering for me here in any case. The upside is that I save some money which I can spend when I am back in a cheaper mongering location. And unlike the Jakarta girls who hardly speak a word of English, I can have a proper conversation with her. After a week of trying to communicate through Google translate, it is kind of nice to be with someone I can both have sex with and talk with in a meaningful way.

Especially so for a timid first timer with no existing contacts or knowledge of where to go.

If United is locked into Jakarta during Ramadan, then I would use one of the less hardcore personals websites. Lots of semi civilian girls there are happy to play 'tourguide' with extras. It would be much easier to have a couple of these showing him around town, and the bedroom, than to find a solution for every new session.

If moving out of Jakarta is an option, then many girls are unreachable back at home but '000's also go in holiday to the places popular with Indos. Perhaps find a girl to show him around Bali, Jogjakarta etc. Lots to see and do there, girls will be more playful away from prying eyes at home, and there will be many girls there due to the cheap hotel and package prices currently being offered.

Is there anyone on ground in Jakarta, to throw some light on the status of brothels like Classic, Travel and those around Kota Indah during this one month of Ramadan? I gather from recent reports that Kelapa Gading is closed and so is CJ / BATS. I hear Basque is open, but that place was less of a pick-up joint previously. The talent at CJs needs to put food on the table, and I am hoping they flock to places like Basque. There are also several other nightclubs that are popular with younger, more affluent civilians. But they might not be suitable for hobbying, unless you look like Brad Pitt and are loaded like Dan Bilzerian.

Can someone confirm the visa on arrival rules just changed for Jakarta? I have been googling daily, and one article says the 43 nationalities that previously could enter via Bali can now enter via Jakarta CGK.

Have trip planned may 29 to June 7 and booked flight back to Australia from BKK but really want to monger first time in Jakarta on the way there.

- VOA only applicable if you enter from Bali. To enter Jakarta, you need to apply for a visa. To have an Indonesian visa, you need someone from Indonesia to initiate that sponsorship.

- If you have passports from any of the ASEAN countries, you can enter via Jakarta without visa.

- No more quarantine.

That is as far as I know to date. Plan accordingly.

That is as far as I know to date. Plan accordingly.[/QUOTE]As far as I understand it, once you've entered at Bali, you can go anywhere in the country without further impediment. An open jaw ticket is the way to go I guess, into Bali, out from Jakarta.

And starting in Bali is not such a biggie. It's a nice enough place to spend a few days before jumping on a cheap as chips flight to Jakarta (or even taking the train across Java, something I've been meaning to do for years).

No Quarantine, no hotel stays, no travel restrictions. Easy But remember you will have Ramadan to deal with when you get to Jakarta.

If you're coming later, just wait: restrictions are being wound back quickly now. By the time you want to come, the rules will have likely changed.

FWIW, I'm in Bali now. Dead quiet here for tourists but heaps of girls. Unfortunately 99% have the typical Bali attitudes and pricing.

Are the seedy places near (on) the train tracks still operational (one is called PLTU, the other I cannot remember?) or are they shut down? Are there any other seedy down market places that opened in the meanwhile?

Used to go almost every month (2-year blue balls). Got dates lined up for the week with Badoo. Like to have backup plan incase the dates falls through, but with Ramadan, I think KI and Classic are closed.

Question: where / what is PenJ? Is that the gang alley by train track?
