I saw 4 hot girls, picked 2nd as 1st one had bad attitude-tooo dismissive which means same in room. Picked nice slim negra-1 hour was 120.

No right or wrong answers, but I see it from a different point of view that may be unique to my situation. I work in tourism in Latin America, and the success of my business is dependent on the quality of service from locals. So I have a keen appreciation for those who provide really good service whether it's hotel staff, a guide, a driver, or a GDP. Without good service from the locals, and without me providing good service to my clients, I'm done. When I go to a prive or terma and select a girl, she has no idea of whether or not I'm going to tip her, and I don't always tip.

Since I'm looking for great service, the only tools I have to increase the odds of getting that service are having a basic grasp of the language, doing whatever research I can ahead of time, doing a short interview, being nice to the girl, and looking my best. Those tools have served me well. My logic is that if a girl does a really good job for a gringo who she's never met and gets a few dollars as a tip, and we're talking about an insignificant amount of money by my standards, she'll be MORE likely to provide really good service to the next gringo. It's his choice to tip or not regardless of her expectations. But if her expectations of a tip motivate her to go the extra mile, then maybe I'm doing you a favor. If he gets really good service because she may be expect a tip, how does he lose? Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong, but I work in a service providing industry where the client / provider dynamic regarding tips and service quality is an important reality for me.

Thinking that GDPs, or any other service provider, are supposed to give great service is a nice thought, and I like to think that myself, but we all know that the reality can be different. Has every airline employee, mechanic, waiter, plumber, GDP, etc. Always given you great service? I think there's a tried and true relationship between service quality and reward.

There is no Brazilian culture of tipping and it does not inspire better service. People here get bent out of shape about it, because it creates bad habits -- like the fucking doorman or receptionists at 4 x4 asking for tips (and that one fucking receptionist at 502). Sure, I sometimes give the locker-room attendants a are $10 note when they're helpful (getting me a better robe) or because I see them a lot and they get paid shit to fold your jizz-stained robes. But with girls, it just creates bad habits. It's bad enough that gringos overpay in general (even I'll admit to that), without starting to create a working girl culture that sees expecting tips as normal.

Of course, as I've seen in this discussion on every other forum here where it applies (e. G. , Thailand), you will ignore the advice, maybe argue some more, and continue to contaminate the scene. This is why I spend more time on the Brazilian boards.

I always tipped the robe lady at MC because shes lovely and always tries hard-and is pleasant and doesnt take me for granted but the idiots in receptions and the bartenders asking for tips for merely making a poor caipirinha can f*ck right off.
Security at MC asking for a tip,doorman at 4 x 4 etc-come on man.You never even opened the door for me!loool get the f outta here.And MC dont even have a DOOR!

At very specific times I find strategic tipping can work for you for example your doorman at end of stay in apartments or I tend to do it at beginning and they look out for me so hard...best little money ever gave out.50 reais for each doorman.For a month.

In my short yet extensive mongering career in Rio I have never received a better service from the same girl after giving her a little gift in the room for good service.

I did that in the beginning.

All it does is make them expectant and the service actually worsens because they think the gringo is a sucker who will accept an ok performance that the brazilian won't go for.

Obviously the dirt poor ones who do a great job will greatly appreciate some help, but instead I have bought food etc. Works better-a nice sandwich and a drink after the terma at Cervantes or sth and bring it home for part 2 works but always keep them on their toes. Essentially its a game of cat and mouse, mouse and cat. They see how far they can go.

This goes for non pros too sometimes here and at home.

I have as well. In the beginning it happens. Fortunately I learn very quickly so I can avoid it. We can all slip, get too fucked up, forget to vet properly etc. Just lifes constant reminders to keep yourself on your toes.

I lost some money at VM-too drunk-has never happened before. Many gdps there are thieves but I slipped. It happens. Now I split up money in many different places. Don't make it easy and safeguard from our own shortcomings!

If the door man at MC or 4 x4 have the face to ask for a tip, I also have the balls to ask why? Straight up! I have actually asked them why? If you open a door or provide some sort of service, in a direct or indirect way, then I would understand. I have a decent portuguese vacabulary to actually have this convo with them. When they get defensive about it, I just pile on by telling them that I don't see them asking my brazilian friends when they accompany me to a termas, or other brazilian customers for that matter.
