I flew into Jakarta last week through Hong Kong. Was a bit worried about the new immigration process, but The process was quite easy.

After getting offs the plane, you go through a series of stations. I have Canadian passport.

First they make you download an app (check online, its easy to find. I can't think of name now) and verify that you had two COVID test. I did this before my flights and uploaded my certs of jabs onto the app.

Then they will do a document check where you need COVID PCR-RT test 48 hours before your first departure.

Next Station is to pay for your Visa on Arrival (check your country if on list).

Then they check your passport and ultimately stamps the passport.

Pretty straight forward. When I lands, not many crowds so very fast. Less than 10 minutes, which is very rare for Indonesia.

Gedong panjang will be busy after Ramadan. It sure was before Ramadan when I visited 3 weeks ago.

On the tracks: It is dark. Like pitch black. This place was never super lighted up but now it is as dark as it gets. Most stalls have been closed as part of the crackdown (their entrance has been closed with bricks / concrete). Some places still operate but only very few ladies were there and not a single talent on my first visit (around 8 pm). No point of banging an oversized Indo lady in her 30's. I always loved the place for the unique experience of banging a 20 year old next to the train tracks with a train occasionally passing by. Quite cool IMO: D). Since no talent, I went down to the other stalls. Maybe half of them were closed. Not sure if this was because of the crackdown or it was just post Ramandan. Nothing interesting for me so I left to my other favorite place..[/QUOTE]

Still a surreal experience with running over the dark train tracks, occasionally a train passes by (so everyone is rushing of the tracks) and backing a chick on a dirty mattress while a train passes by.

Still not as "strange" as the old places where chicken were running around but still crazy: the.

Only concern are the news of having everything demolished. After seeing what they have done with Kalijodo and the new international stadium. So probably best to "use" such places before they will disappear.

Then they check your passport and ultimately stamps the passport..[/QUOTE]Same with my experience on Tuesday. Nobody cared about the app at all. When asked for vaccination status at a mall yesterday, I just showed my international vaccination certificate.

Was really easy. Only annoying surprise I had was that a return ticket was requested (which I didn't book at that point of time). So I had to book a return ticket instantly to be able to board the flight. When pushing back on the requirement, the airline said that it relates with Visa on Arrival. Who knows. Just as a heads-up for those that are more flexible and don't book return tickets like me.

Indo is far from being back to normal and once in the country still masks on and show your phone like a puppet wherever you go pffff no thanks.

Yes it is safe. Haven't been to any bars or establishments in Jakarta where it wasn't safe. Generally Jakarta is a very safe city.
