In a nutshell, that's the attitude to have.
I recently followed the conversation and introspection on this forum.
Here is an interesting link that I enjoyed in the context that conversation.
He is making an above average American salary with Dominican expenses. His website revenue pays for his forays. Guys living a trick life and has absolutely no desire for a gf. I have a few friends that are in his business and thanks to Amazon and Skype, they can work anywhere with internet. Its golden reading the hate. The N-words are street euphemism to be ignored. No self hate just verbose talk.
I think you "get it." I tend to focus on the beneficial information, as opposed to becoming emotionally responsive to the message. Reading between the lines, it's a good place to be in and beats the heck out of living vicariously through other peoples "trip reports." This guy wasn't a regular DR monger so it's no wonder he's been experiencing so much culture shock. I thought he would have gotten his bell rang by now, but he is surviving and breaking ground in some ways. I've heard about mongers catching hell for putting pics and vids of putas on the Net. This little pipsqueak guy is making internet porn and doesn't hide the fact, although he does have the DR blocked from access to his site, which must have really pissed off all the snitches, playa hatas, WU novios and other assorted folks on these boards that were probably salivating at the thought of throwing the guy under the bus, lol.
Last night had much less traffic, but I enjoyed it the most without the huge crowd. That had zero effect on the amount of punany hangout."Quality" was good too.
Good to know. I've always bailed out of Sosua on a Sunday evening. Lately my last few trips (to Medellin) had me leaving on a Monday. I like this because you are not packed like a bunch of sardines on the airplane like on a Sunday when everyone is trying to get back Stateside so that they are back in time for work on Monday.
If I do make another run for Sosua sometime in the near future I am going to try leaving on a Monday or Tuesday as well.
A slow Sunday night on the strip is WAY BETTER than any hot Saturday night back in the states!
AMEN to that! A hot Saturday night in the states is watching a bunch of women in the club dance with one another while trying to pump you for drinks. I think the last time I officially went "clubbin" was back in early '10.
In a nutshell, that's the attitude to have.
My teacher back in school used to always tell us " attitude is altitude" How high or low are we flying? And "The roses have thorn" or "Do the THORNS have roses?" I had to adjust my attitude, and that made my life a whole lot happier I believe Sosua is evolving, sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse, but we "mongers" just make the necessary, adjustments, adapt to it and make the best out of it. I remember when some mongers where crying "The sky was falling" this is not the "old Sosua" blah blah blah. This is the death of Sosua, then a few months later it is business as usual just "different business" but we get busy. I hope you other mongers look for you "boy" El Caballo Negro its written on my T-shirt. Shoutout to Alwsyshorny2 keep them positive reports coming.
Director of Tourism wants to tackle crime and prostitution in Sosúa.

Here we go again? When will they realize the real reason people come to Sosua is for the girls?
Any tips on who is renting a car / SUV for a good price? In April I rented from Noel at Seabreeze. $40 a day for a 4 cyl suv Honda Element (includes insurance ). It was good on gas, and had tinted windows. Later I rented from Cheepy (Mike) whose spot is next door to Tradewinds. It was an older Isuzu Rodeo. I got that for $30 a day, but the a / see was warm and abs light was on. You could tell the brakes werent as good as they should be. I plan to rent for over a week, and hope to find a DECENT working small SUV, good a / see, tinted windows if possible. There seems to be lots of RENTAL CAR competition in Sosua, so I hope I can find something for less than $40 a day? Somebody have a tip to share?

Crime 1st and then prostitution, his resources will be too busy and overwhelmed to get to tackle prostitution. Crime, by itself will be too much to handle. Especially the corruption within all levels of government & law enforcement. It will be like taking out the trash through the front door, only to have somebody bringing that same trash right back in the house but through the back door. You think you've cleaned up but too many forces are in place working against you.

"According to Lorenzo Sancassani, Sosúa has to become more attractive for family tourism. This requires that the crime (mostly committed by young people) , nuisance by Illegal motorcycle taxi drivers has to be prevented and to discourage outright prostitution. It is also necessary that the beach is made more attractive and to give the bay the status of a Parque Marino. So a bay where the ecosystem is protected and where diving is ecologically justified."

How is sosua going to be a family destination when there almost nothing in Sosua besides the Beach and Women? They will have to spend Millions of Dollars to develop attractions to attract family's.
They don't realize what makes Sosua is Gringo Dollars, Why do you think during low season all the chicas are hungry and desperate, and all the businesses are slow.

It's just posturing on his part, he's about the millionth newly elected official to claim he is going to clean up Sosua, not going to happen.

Sosua has definitely changed since 2004 when I first started coming. People I spoke with back then told me Sosua was a lot more family oriented in the late 1990s. The whole area had Dominican vacation homes that families from Moca and Santiago would use during holidays. As the town started changing, they left and sold. During semana santa and Christmas are perhaps the only times when there is still a semblance of the old flavor.
Growing up in Manhattan, I never thought I would see Times Square get rid of the mafia control and change into a family friendly destination. Rio is also going through a transformation these days.
Those that only know the Sosua as it is now probably can't phantom a drastic change, but I'm taking a wait and see approach. Either way, it won't affect what I do much.
