I haven't heard any talk about it being demolished anytime soon but it for sure will be eventually. But the place get raided once in a while, last time just before the start of Ramadan.

I prefer the bars below the rail, as they have a few bars that actually have rooms with basic toilet inside. Most bars only have rooms without toilet. In general most rooms only have a filthy mattress inside. So I don't visit very often, most times just to have a beer since I live close by.

This was my first experiences at Malioboro Spa (Malio). I will like to share since some of you might be new and wanted to details what I went thru. Overall good experiences.

I went to Malio on a Sunday afternoon around 4 pm (I know its too early, but I don't like monger late at night). It seems to be in a fairly safe location. About 5-10 min moto ride from Plaza Indonesia and across street from few 4-star hotels (Harris and Mercure). So overall feels safe.

On the outside, the hotel looks quite run down, but when you walk its brightly lighted 3-star hotel. First you walks up to the counter and they give you a locker key with number. This will used for billing purpose. Then you take elevator to the 2 (or 3?) floor. There is another counter that will direct you to a big lounge (BAR) area. I am not sure if this is the night club. There were a lot of tables, chairs, banquet seats and I think there was a small stage. Since it was my first time, I didn't want to stay too long. Maybe 10-15% full.

Mamasan will come and ask if you want drink and try to talk to you. I didn't have much time, so I just ask to see ladies. The showed me a price list with different levels. It was something like Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Something else. Each with the prices. I don't remembers exactly, prices but bronze was 680 K and top class was 2.8 M. The higher you go, better looking and foreign girls. I think Bronze to Gold was local Indonesian girl and higher levels were Vietnam, Uzbek, maybe some other white girl.

Since I didn't have much cash on me, I asked for local girl. She showed me 6 girls. They were probably 6-7's at best. Nothing ugly, but not hot Indonesia beauties. I chose the best of the lot #587. Then sat us at table and ask if I want drink. I said no I need to go, so #587 took my hand and walked me out of bar area. Mamasan asked for tip. I didn't know what to do, so I gave her 50 k.

Girl takes you to that same counter (outside bar) and does some paperwork. Then I had to buy a condom for 28 K. Dumb.

Then girl take me on elevator to floor with rooms. The room was quite clean, but typical brothel room (maybe I can pay for better room)? Has shower and bed, no window.

Then its standard brothel experience. Shower, light massage, BBBJ, FS. Was fun, didn't feel very mechanical. But to be honest I no very excited about her. I had one hour total with her. Mostly massage and shower. She reminded me of a Geylang girl. Average looks, but looks good in heels and pushup bras. When it comes off, not so hot.

After, she asked for cash tip. I didn't know what to do (I should have read forms) So I gave her 100 K. She seem mad, but I didn't have enough cash and didn't know how much final bill will be.

Then she take me back to lounge area. I didn't want to stay, so I went back down to 1st floor lobby to check out.

Here I gave back my locker key. And my total price was 1,040 K. Which I guess was price of girl and room for one hour.

As I was leaving security guard was nice and got me Blue Bird taxi. But then also asked for tip. I only have him 10 K.

Taxi took me home no problems. Sometimes taxi when pick up men at brothel, can be shady.

Overall. I had a good experience, nice facilities and I might try to go back if Seeking doesn't work for me (some seeking girls are insanely expensive). Realize I should go back to Malio in evening for better selection and not be so timid. I should try to enjoy more. I think there are probably more beauties available. Maybe I spend more money and find better selection in evening.

Girls there do depend on tips. Their commission from the establishment is not much. It's up to you how much you want to give. I usually give 300 K if the service is good and more if she provides extra service. If you do not have enough cash, I think you can add those tip into a "post survey" form and indicate to the girl that. Not sure if you see that kind of form this time. It is usually to help those who don't carry cash with them and they can just pay it with the credit card upon check out.

I would usually bring my condom and show it to them so that they will not force me to buy their overpriced condom. Whether you get to use it or not depends on the rapport between you and the girl. The girls needs to "broadcast" that they went into the room with these condoms, otherwise they are going to be chastised based on past accounts from the girls that I know there.

Also, if you don't like the girl when in the room, you can tell them over in the room phone that you want to exchange the girl. The caveat is that this has to be done before the girl undresses. Never tried that, but that was what I had been told in the past.

With clothes they all look great without it s another story. Asking if she had a baby beforehand limits bad surprises. Bringing a condom is a tip we all use to avoid BS charge. I think the facts need to be straightened here given that other people read these posts and they need to get this information right about Malio.

1) The girls in Malio are grouped based on tiers based on looks, popularities and nationalities. The higher tier group charges more and the imports are always in the highest tier. Their prices are based on which tier the girls are in.

2) The room charge is always separate. One can opt for a more luxurious VIP room at a higher price.

3) OP is talking about tipping the girl whom he had sex with, not the mamasan. Don't have to tip the Mamasan or even those service boys who would occasionally ask for tips. But I would recommend tipping the girls since they depend on these tips. Don't need to be a cheap charlie.

4) Sure, check your bill before paying and ask for clarification if needed. But, please don't act like an ass in those establishment. The place is not cheap in comparison, but it is not in their interest to cheat you and they need repeat business. These places are run by mafias and they pay a lot of money to the police and politicians for protection and other access. Don't think for a second they would not try to rough you up if you don't want to pay because you are foreigner and act like you know best.

Maybe not scammed, but quoted price increase significantly after the tax and service charge is added. Its around 30% If I remember correctly.

This is exactly how it works there. I wish I were back in Indo myself! But not before July, alas.

I believe there is a proper spa section on the lower floors of the part you were in, though I have never gone to those floors myself (I always go straight for the girls).

You missed the other part of Malioboro. You were in the part closest to the street. There is another part at the back, further away from the street. It has its own entrance. It is also possible to cross between the two parts by going up a few floors and through some corridors. You can get someone there to show you the way. In the part at the back, it is more like a proper night club, with loud music, a bit dark, lots of dancers, girls who only keep you company, girls to take to room etc. There are some roaming girls there who do lady drinks. They are the hottest girls I have seen in Jakarta. Unbelievably attractive. But you will run up a huge lady drink bill with them very fast and they cost over 3 million to take to the room.

In general you will spend a lot more money at Malioboro than at Classic or Travel. Malioboro is a bit more "upmarket", but the sexual experience is not necessarily better. At Classic and Travel service is unpredictable, but what does it matter when you can go through three girls for the price of one. I also find that it is more difficult to interact with girls at Malioboro than at Classic.

Rooms at Malioboro, Classic and Travel don't have windows. But they are squeaky clean.

I don't know why you are so worried about security. Indonesia is generally very safe, safer than many places in Europe, and places like Malioboro, Classic and Travel are the safest of all within the Indonesian context. Including taxis outside (though they will refuse to use the meter and you need to negotiate a price in advance. The only thing to watch out for is lady drinks, but you have to understand that the whole point of lady drinks is a kind of tongue in cheek game to press up your expenditure. Almost like a competition between the girl and you. "See if you can resist me. " And yes, the bill in Malioboro is always a bit higher than one expects. In Classic and Travel it is usually spot on and they are even more transparent about pricing.

The girl gets a very low share of the official price tag and everybody is expected to tip. 300 000 is a standard minimum tip. Anything below that is a punishment for bad service. If the girl is nice and makes an effort, more could be paid, up to 6-700 000 if it was really fantastic. More if you fall in love, even just for a little while.

To one of the other posters on the forum: to send a girl back because she has saggy tits or something like that is really cruel. Remember they are humans, they have feelings, they are in a desperate economic situation and they are doing very dangerous work to satisfy you. Treat them nice. And as somebody else wrote, if you don't want a girl who has had a baby, ask BOTH the mamasan and the girl before taking the girl. The mamasan may say yes, yes but not really know. Also remember you never have to do what the mamasan says. She is pushy because she is competing against other mamasans, but this does not mean that her pushiness represents the authority of the institution.

Where does this standard minimum tip amount come from? Are others here in agreement with this amount?
