You can't get it--only your wife can. They will print "BB" on the entry stamp which is good for a year but only true Balikbayans can get it.

There is also other visas under SEC 13 where you can get one year visa but they have a quota per country.

I'm sure someone once told me he was half Filipino but the obit I read had him by a German American out of an Irish American.
Any ideas?
a scam has been in operation in the makati area recently. it works like this.
you are sitting with your wife / girlfriend or by yourself in a makati cafe or restaurant. a girl, who you have never seen before, accompanied by a guy approach you and the girl starts screaming and shouting at you making accusations of various kinds (you raped her, made her pregnant and she is married…. the accusation is largely immaterial). a few seconds later police, who were waiting around the corner, come and arrest you. of course they haul you off to a jail and then demand money, which is then no doubt spread to the scam artists as profit sharing. i am aware of two instances of this happening. no doubt a lot more foreigners have been victims of the scam that i have not heard about. the only solution to this is not to be nice and polite, but right shout back and accuse the girl of running a scam in makati and having done this repeatedly to many other foreigners in makati. if it happens to you, also inform your embassy of the scam as soon as it happens.

if its true, makati will become an area to avoid, which is pretty difficult since it is the cbd of manila...
i once had a taxi driver in makati try to charge a gigantic fare & then proceed to scream the place down when i refused. a cop turned up, i gave the cop a my business card (with a local address) & a 'donation' for his trouble & the taxi driver was taken aside while i proceeded with my day. thats the closest i've ever come to being scammed in broad daylight.

I have been there 2 times and used orbitz both times for around $900 round trip. But now I see most flights are around $1400.
If anyone has any insights I would appreciated it. I live in Arizona.

I think the whole manila mongering is going up fast from 7 yr ago when the enconomy is bad and the US dollar is strong you can get ST at LA cafe for 500 peso about 10 US back in the good old days and now is double, but manila is still a bargin compare to other country like Malayasia, Hong Kong and singapore and more korean with alot of cash are coming here driving the price up same as the Japanese are doing to Bangkok.

I've barfined her again during my February trip and
oooh wonder, surprise surprise!!
She had the camera, the charger, the memory card with her.
All ready to return it to me.
Not all bargirls tell grandmother-stories and BS and carry it immediately to the pawn shop.
Finally I told her to keep it since I'm more addicted to DSLR.

I have been trawling through the forums for hours trying to decide where I could find a good combination of diving and girl action.
Frankly it's overwhelming. Looking at the reports it seems that in Manila, Cebu and Angeles City there is enough action for a lifetime. But matching this up with good diving doesn't look promising. So I'm appealing to any divers to offer their favorite locations. I'm Rescue certified with 200 dives, looking for really good diving. Not the 20 ft "resort course" dive, but in a location with plenty of nightlife.
Any assistance gratefully received.

Try Puerto Galera on Mindoro Island. To get there, you take a 3 hour bus ride south from Manila to the port of Batangas, then catch a ferry across the sea. I don't know about the quality of the diving, but I did see both dive shops and girls in the bars/discos. I'm not a diver and I brought my own girl so I can't speak to the quality of the scene. Try searching the "other areas" thread for this one.
There's Moalboal on Cebu Island, but that seemed more like a bring your own scene when I was there as I don't know if there's any nightlife in this area. I saw several dive shops so I would think there would have to be something at night, but I did not have the opportunity to check that out.
I have heard there's diving not far from Davao so you might search that thread too.
